Advanced Calling 1.0 SIP Account? - Verizon HTC One (M9)

Just bought my M9 direct from HTC and activated yesterday.
I went to activate Advanced Calling 1.0 in the settings and that all worked. Came up on my account and everything.
Now I can make HD calls if I manually dial out, but if I try to call from existing contacts it tells me I need an SIP Account. It asks for a Username, Password, Server, and some other normal server things. Tried Googling it and got nothing for a Verizon SIP account.
Anyone else having problems with Advanced Calling?

Nobody knows anything about this?

using the normal dialer, i think it's only possible with the Airave device from sprint. another option would be using a voip software but i personally dont use any.
After more research I realize that the company BB was on TMOBILE which uses UMA to connect thru wifi to the TMobile network what an awesome option as i used it in mexico to make free calls home! Now the company switched to Sprint Blackberrys I have no way to contact home when I go to korea. I have an EVO and a BB both on sprint and seem F'ed on contact home this suxz! Thanks for the help

Here's a solution I found:
1) Switch over EVERYTHING to Google Voice. Have people only call/text you via GV.
2) Install Fring
3) Get Sipgate One. SO has unlimited free inbound calling (and if you know GV, you know what that means...)
4) Setup your Google Voice to call both your cell number, and your Sipgate One number.
5) In Fring, add your Sipgate account as your SIP account. Set proxy as sipgate.com and get your SIP username and password from your Sipgate settings.
6) In Sipgate's settings, clear out all of the forwarding rules, so that no matter what, Google Voice will manage your voicemail.
7) Turn off your cell connection by activating Airplane Mode.
8) Turn on WiFi.
9) Start calls via a computer's browser, at voice.google.com.

[Q] Setting up Google Voice without a carrier number

Hey guys. I had a sprint number that has since been disconnected. I am using MIUI now and I can send texts just fine using the Google Voice app over wifi. When I try to update to a new version of MIUI I can't go through the steps to verify my number because it no longer exists.
Anyone have a work around for this? I have tried restoring the app with titanium backup but it wants me to set it up again each time.
Stumped at to what to do. I set it up before without the phone number, but now I can't seem to figure it out.

+1, trying to setup Google Voice with a Line2 number, no success yet.
Won't be any either, they only support major carriers.
Just go to the online Google Voice settings and add a phone number in it. You don't have to keep the number on the account; it just needs to be there long enough to get through setup in the Google Voice app.
I have a deactivated device that I can make VOIP calls with using my Google Voice number with the native dialer, and text through the native SMS app.

Not sure I understand - of course it works on WiFi . The device is deactivated - how else would you be able to connect, and/or use the phone?

You can dial out with your stock dialer with Google Voice over just WiFi, without any service?
When I try that, it says Dialing with Google Voice, and then "Mobile Network not available" immediately afterwards and no call. What am I doing wrong? Also there seems to be no way to dial out from my Line2 VOIP line as if the number was my GV number. GV is confusing

Do you have it set up? You have to set up PBXes and it essentially uses Google Talk to connect to the internet dialer so you can make phone calls.
Just Google for the guide on setting up Google Voice with Android PBXes and native dialer.
Try Groove Ip. My Sprint Number has been disconnected & I been using this to make calls & texts over WiFi. I set it up fine after switching Roms but my voice number was already setup on the sprint # that has been turned off. Try going to your voice options on your browser & see if you can change anything there.

Does this use the Internet Calling features of the native dialer, or is the app required to make and receive calls? I prefer using the native dialer as it works correctly with bluetooth.

Thank you, this worked well, I'm still playing with it but, I think I'll be able to replace Line2. :good:
Update: After using it for a few days, I tried out Sparephone ($3 in the play store) and loved it way more. Now I'm working on a plan to switch to Ting and ditch Line2 (replacing with Sparephone and GV), and I'll be saving like, literally $140 a month (!!)....it sounds crazy but I'm pretty sure it'll work. I love GV!
Update: Yeah it totally works, no more Line2.
If you are on GB you can use Google voice version 3.2 and it will use your gtalk instead of having to use the phones number to verify. Also you can use groove IP or talkatone to make calls with Google voice. I have been using this way for 2+ years now with a Wifi Hotspot that I carry in my pocket. I am pretty much through with Mobile carriers now. If on ICS or JB then you would have needed to have confirmed a number at some point in the past in order to verify it with the newer version of Google voice. Unfortunately version 3.2 or older does not work with ICS or JB.

[Q] Does anyone use Groove IP

Was wondering if you are using Groove IP andhow it works. Is there anyway to trick it into working with an existing carrier phone number or is only for a google phone number?
no, it uses the Google voice service to make voip calls. you also have to sign in with your Google account to start the app.

Have you read up on Groove IP at all? It's a nice piece of software that I have been using for years now. Also if your carrier allows you to integrate your telephone number with Google voice then YES you can use GrooveIP to make VOIP calls as you would utilize Wi-Fi Calling. Just know that its not that great over a bad 3g/4g connection

Playya thanks for responding to my questio. I have read up on Groove ip and did know you can port a number over to google voice but once you do that your cell carrier service for that number does not exist anymore. Are you talking about using the same number for cell service and google voice? If that is possible how can it be set up?

I did not say port its called integrating... I know that Sprint has the option to do it since I was on Sprint prior to coming to T-Mobile. I believe you have the option to forward your number to GV but now you have to see if it will allow you to integrate. I am on prepaid TMobile and I do not see this option. Go into your GV setup and check if you have it.
Once the integration is done your mobile number becomes your GV number as well and you can use all of there features. Like I said I know this works on Sprint but not sure if TMobile and Google have the same setup since I am on prepaid

SIP calling does not work

SIP calling option does not work on my HTC One M9. Did anyone else see this behavior. I set the SIP calling setting to 'Ask for every call'. SIP aaccount registers fine (for receiving calls).
When I make the call, I select Internet call and then select the SIP account, but then the call still goes out as 'Verizon' ..
What could I be missing here?

You need to have their sip connection added to their contact. Are you sure you are using sip contacts?

Don't think I follow you. The number I dial can be dialed via SIP account (or) my VZW number, based on where I am. How do I specify a SIP contact..? It's just a 10 digit phone number, no?
Maybe I am missing something here?

ah, that makes sense.. i see a 'receiving calls' text under the account name and thought it's registered. app tries to register again while making an outbound call and it's failing.. so any way i can see the log or something similar to pin down the cause?

Still have not been able to make the outbound SIP calling work.. The SIP account registers just fine (says 'Receiving Calls'). Perhaps the phone is diverting SIP calls via VoLTE even after selecting the appropriate SIP account to call from. Disabling the advaced calling option is not helping either...
This is very weird. Anyone else successfull in making an outbound call via SIP account (via callcentric/localphone account etc) from M9??

Same phenomenon with my HTC 10. I used SIP calls with htc one X for a long time, switched to HTC 10 with same settings. When I make a call, wierdly it is redirecting to operator.
Could not find anything on HTC website.
Maybe it is related with android versions.
oneX's version as I remember was Kitkat
10's version is Marshmallow
Are you using the native SIP? Have you tried a third party app? I currently use Grandstream Wave with no issues (MM, stock, rooted).

Internet Call Settings (SIP Functionality?)

Sorry if this has been asked/discussed, but I am hoping there is a way to set up internet call settings on the G4 like you can with other phones like the nexus. I'm guessing this was blocked or removed by LG, but has anyone figured this out. Or have an app recommendation if possible?
Thanks!
Internet call settings? I have a 6P and I'm not sure what you're talking about. There is VoLTE and WiFi calling, are you talking about one of those?
Voice Over IP.
There are tons of walkthroughs on setting this up.
Check this:
http://lifehacker.com/5349506/make-free-voip-calls-from-google-voice
There are other voice services that I can't think of off the top of my head but nothing should be specific to the G4 and Verizon. I had to do this with my G2 when I was traveling over seas. Verizon told me it would work there but it sure didn't. I had to setup a program to allow me to make voice calls over my data connection. I forget the actual names of the apps but start with the link above and start digging.
EDIT:
Here is what I used:
https://ring.to/groove/
Groove IP app. Setup online for a "virtual number" and install the GrooveIP app.

Yes, I meant WiFi calling, as described here: https://support.google.com/nexus/answer/2811843?hl=en
I'm not seeing the menu options in the LG Dialer on the G4 that would allow you to add a SIP account to make internet calls through a SIP provider.
Of course carrier phones don't have that, they want you to use them for voice service. Your options would be to use a VoIP app or setup Google Voice with Hangouts.

Thanks for sharing those details. I'll look at Groove IP and see if I can just find an app that allows you to set up a SIP account on the G4. It was great on a nexus to just add it in the dialer and turn it on whenever you needed it. I used it on wifi whenever overseas and it worked perfectly. If there is a hidden menu setting or something to enable it on the G4, I would be interested in figuring that out!
