[UB ONLY] [AROMA] [dual - CWM & TWRP] (4 in 1) Root & Recovery & Busybox for Lolipop
Hi, I just wrote my own version of the busybox, root and dual recovery (CWM voldown or TWRP volup) -> for Lolipop, sharing it with you.
How to install:
- boot into recovery (if you don't have recovery than extract boot.img from any cm11 rom and boot it with "fastboot boot boot.img" , press volume button to enter into recovery mode)
- install zip package trought recovery
Enjoy!

Do you think that if I root with this, then flash stock kernel and restore TA, I'll not loose root? Just CWM? Sorry for noob question... But tried with creating flasheable zip, with another method and root don't work properly
EDIT: Thanks @munjeni, works perfectly

You no need to flash kernel! Command aka: fastboot boot boot.img doing temporary boot cm11 boot image, it will not install cm11 boot image, will just boot them temporary! After reboot your original kernel will remain intact. Also you can restore TA without loosing root. Just read instructions carefully and you are done!

What do you mean boot it with "fastboot boot boot.img"? Sorry for the newbie question...

@munjeni: works like a charm, thx bro, you are the best...

You can get more info about fastboot here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2277112

New version, changelog:
- added aroma installer (now you can chose: CWM or TWRP)
Enjoy!

can anyone share the cm11 boot.img ? the link for the original cm11 rom doesn't work right now...

2 possible cause:
- your device is not unlocked
- it was no boot.img (maybe only img extension but not real boot.img)

wow, great great jobs sir i was just waiting for this, since i cant aford a re-install pre rooted rom
worked perfectly with doom kernel v22 img, the instruction was very clear and clean: do anything that bring you a custom recovery on the phone, to install the zip file
cheers

does it works on stock rom with stock kernel?

That's what I have. judging by munjeni's reply for "unlocked device" , I assume you need to unlock the bootloader first to boot that cm11 boot.img ,thus the reason of my failed attempt.
I will wait a bit and see whether I can get root in lollipop without unlocking the bootloader.

Yes, but you need to unlock bootloader in order to install it! By the way you can relock your bootloader to previous state (by restoring ta backup after installing things), theres no reason waiting for root for locked bootloader since things is so easy. Just restore ta backup and your bootloader will go intact like never unlocked (but be very carefull with it)!

or just relock the bootloader with Flashtool (this does not restore your DRM keys). With munjeni´s method by restoring TA Backup the DRM keys will be restored too.

No good
followed your steps and: Installed via flashtool factory image, boot info flash mode and flashed boot.img, restarted in recovery and flashed zip file then bootloop.....

Why you flashed boot.img???? Just temporary boot them via: fastboot boot boot.img, DO NOT flash them! If you flash them than you must reflash original kernel from stock rom (use flastool and reflash only kernel)! But my sugestion is: fastboot boot boot.img since it will temporary boot boot image! Hope this help

AWESOME bro!
I will try this soon. I guess it can conflict with other scripts (like v6 supercharger), right?
Will it work with Thunderbolt! and V6 Supercharger?
If it's ok i'll test, thanks!
So does 2.3.+ or higher mean it will work on 4.0+??
Same question as Trojan but only with Thunderbolts? I think not because you take some scripts to Thunderbolts but we never know ;o)
And if i can't use both, what does your script brings more than Thunderbolts?
Thanks for your work and answers ;o)

Yes It Works With ICS you only need custom Kernel supporting Init.d Like Glitch ICY or Devil,Sock CM Kernel(not supporting it)
Will test it and post results

Yes was aware of that thanks anyway.. Did your update fail?
I Have looked at the log and it looks like the build.prop that TWRP loads is for 4.1.2 and its Dhackers CM10 Prop file or am I wrong?
if anyone could Get P3Droids app to capture the ROM so I could try that
also would love to know if apacheo had any luck with his update cause as far as I know we have done the same things as to get JB running on our Ms
Any other suggestions much appreciated
Thanks
Yeah I managed to get the update on my M.
Had to flash back to Telstra stock ICS though, then the OTA worked properly. Had to use stock recovery too, TWRP wouldn't flash it.
Was a ***** to get it going but I got there in the end.
i have done the fastboot restore to stock ICS how did you get the stock recovery back on Apache? I have tried several times and no dice!
See my PM - you can do it with TWRP, just have to edit the updater-script to remove the asserts.

How did you edit the updater-script with TWRP? :S
p3toolbox doesn't seem to be working with telstra's jb. I've been trying for days to do the xml backup. usually it says the sd card is not mounted or it's write protected.
sometimes it does it's thing but the backup folder is always empty.
I managed to "install" ota with twrp, failed right at the end (at the "update partitions" stage) but everything seems to be working fine, no FCs, been using for the last week with absolutely 0 issues)
in the updater script (from meta-inf/google/android) I've deleted the first line (with the mount, don't forget to mount system in twrp before hitting install) + the next 2 asserts (to stop checking build.prop)
hope that helps.
if anyone needs the ota file, just ask

Do you mind uploading your ota file Dan?
I tried editing my updater-script like you described but got a "Status 6" error. :S
Thank you
after the update fails, in twrp, you can go in Advanced->Copy Log to SD, look for a recovery.log in the root of your sd card to see exactly what the problem is

Forgot to mention: use notepad++ to edit the update script.
Notepad will save things with windows line endings (\r\n) and Android will not like those.

I will bring it to P3Droid's attention that the XML backup seems to be broken on Telstra JB and see if he has any insight into the issue.
Edit: check this thread where he responded about another issue with similar symptoms that is resolved by reinstalling busybox from the market.
That should fix the mount error with the sdcard.

Help installing magisk on OxygenOS 8 Oreo

Hi, i now that everyone seems to be able to use magisk under oreo, but i can't get it to work since the first oxygenos oreo beta release.
the funny thing is, it seems to install correctly, but after the reboot there is no magisk manager, and no root functionality.
What i tried:
* Dirty and Clean flashed every beta and stable build.
* Tried the last 4 magisk releases, last version 15.3
* Supersu, wich works every time
* TWRP 3.2.1 blu spark 8.61
I deleted everything except /data/media/0/*
Also, a log file from a magisk install after a clean flash:
Code:
Installing zip file '/sdcard/Backup/Magisk-v15.3(1531).zip'

try installing the4 manager from the playstore. Ever since Google added this stupid encryption there have been issues on encrypted devices. Thankfully not many run encrypted so it doesnt com up often.
hm..., the app is not (anymore) in my localized playstore. I can only sideload it, but i already tried that. Same result
Also, isn't every recent Android device encrypted by default? I mean, i have changed the default_password, but that's it

Yes but many disable the encryption and leave their devices unencrypted. Hell it's the first thing I do to all my devices.
I would post this in the magisk thread and see what he says.
