insuffient storage - Micromax Canvas A1

hey guys,
i am on stock lollipop 5.1 but every time i try to download from play store. it pops up an error about insufficient storage, although i do around 250-300 mb free in internal and 1gb in my sd card.
please help
and thanks in advance

Same Issue
I am facing the same issue. I have also tried a workaround. I have rooted my phone and now move most of the apps (except system ones) to the SD card. Still every time an app is updated it moves to the phone by itself and I have to move them over again. This is very annoying in case there are multiple apps requiring update and I cant update them all at once since after one of them updates, there is no more space. Is there any fix on this issue or maybe another workaround?? Any help is really appreciated. Thanks

I think the only solution is rooting the phone and making a partition in your SD card for apps, then all apps will install in that location without going to internal storage.

Storage is being consumed

Hi there,
I have this problem. I did noticed it just now.my phone keeps informing me there is not enough space in phone.i uninstalled few apps imstaled few other apps and so on so on.now i have only 16 Mb left.i noticed it on last app.i tried a few apps and games but after uninstallong them(via settings/manage applications) not all of the storage they have occupied have been gained aftwr uninstal.so basically some storage was lost somewhere.i cannot find any apps related files on phone and also they are write protected folders on phone memory(this is becasue i have NO root i guess).so i cannot delete the leftovers.what to do now?how to get the storage back? is this common issue? Also i have an issue that i cannot install/update apps on sd card. I have to install/move-then-update them on phone memory and then move them to sd card.for eg Mapdroyd cannot be installed.it keeps saying "could not install on usb storage or sd card" or smthng like that.i have to unmount the sd install it and then move it manually.
I am using stock 2.2.
I am considering an factory reset but i want to fix it if possible and prevent in future.
Any advice?
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
I had exactly the same problem with my son's Wildfire, but as I had already rooted and installed a custom ROM on my Desire to solve the same issue i was keen to root the Wildfire too. The procedure is painless (Revolutionary is a Noob friendly semi-automated process - search in the Android Development thread). I used Deep Knights ROM and now have 133Mb free space after loading loads of apps and games. Take the plunge!

[Q] Memory card problems

Hey hope somebody can solve this problem
I bought a new 7 GB SD card for my Wildfire not so long ago and saved most of my apps from the phone accross to it. All was fine for a while until my phone alerted me saying that it was low on storage space. On checking the memory card I noticed that I still had well over 6 GB of free space. All the apps that I checked are saved onto the SD card and some don't give an option to be moved to SD card. This is also stopping me from downloading new apps and also all the apps I have wont update as it says there is no space, even though there is plenty.
My wildfire is NOT rooted and has the original HTC installed Android OS (Froyo 2.2.1)
I am planning on rooting the phone and putting on a custom ROM in the future but in the meantime I was wondering if there was a solution to this problem.
All help is appreciated.
Thanks, Wooster
When your deivce say that you are low on storage than it means that you don't have enough internal memory space left!
You cannot move many apps to your sd card because your device is not rooted.
I would recommend you rooting your device to solve that problem because then you can create custom mtd partitions and installing a2sd script (both can be found in development thread).
Thanks for the reply. I will just root the phone then today. Thanks for the help

[Q] insufficient space on the device

hello guys its been some time i've been trying to download apps from play store that are 3-4 or more mb and i always get an error saying that there is insufficient space on the devide
i have tried to clear the cache from recovery mode but the problem remains.
i checked the partition mounts with the app partition table and i cant understand why i get this error...
storage/emulated/0 and /data has about 500mb free
/system has arround 200mb free
here are some screenshots of the partition mounts of my device

If you are rooted, you can try the FolderMount app. Worked for me by freeing up space on the emulated SD.

from what i see this app is used to transfer app files to the sd card and while it may help a little (since i really dont have games and huge apps on my phone) eventually after a few months i will still have the same problem since all the apps are constantly getting bigger in mb and i will continue to install new apps.
what i am trying to find is the reason the phone reports it has no space since from what i can see it does have plenty of space left.
by the way i did tried to install the app you recommended but guess what?
there is no available free space on the device
I'm having the same problem at the moment. Short of installing a custom rom and getting rid of TouchWiz altogether, I hope someone figured something out.

I found out that if I unmount my sd card the phone was able again to install big apps and that made me think that maybe there are some corrupted files in my sd card, so I installed the APP sd maid from the market I cleared the dead files and cleared the system and since then the problem has been fixed.
Just make sure that in order to clean dalvic cache too you need to enter the settings and allow the app to delete unwanted odex, obex files

I had the same issue. Format SD/factory reset did not help in my case.
I hope "insufficient space" has gone from your device, nevertheless I suggest you to instal and run the FolderMount app anyway. When I ran it for the first time, it detected problem with writing on (fresh formatted) SD by non system apps and prompted for fixing it (I let). Since that i have no more problem with installing new apps.

well as i wrote earlier it stopped showing me the insufficient space for a few days but then it came back...
i was pretty pissed and started deleting some apps to see if for real there is no free space, the same time you wrote this message, i saw it and installed foldermount app right away.
it really did find a corrupted file and a rule that prohibited acceess to sd card, i let it fix those both errors and after that till now i am able to install and updates apps without a problem.
not really sure if the problem was fixed because i deleted apps or from the foldermount app but its ok now. (i think foldermount worked its magic because i have done several big updates so i dont think that the fact i deleted some apps helped resolve this issue)
anyway. thanks a lot for your answer

SD card read/write problems Sprint Tab 3 7 inch UNSOLVED AGAIN

I am rooted, running Negalite WondeROM v2. Stock kernel. Half the time, when I boot, the contents of my SD card dont show up. I get the gray squares, and when i try to open apps that are on my card, it says that they are not installed, or that I need to download the additional data(which I have already downloaded). Hot boot fixes it. And it doesn't happen all the time. Today, I was trying to update a game I purchased from the Play store, and I keep getting a message saying that I have insufficient external storage space. I have over 9Gb left on a 16Gb card. I used the Android applucation manager to move my apps to external SD, and not an app or anything. I have unmounted, removed, re-inserted and re-mounted my SD card, and the problem is unchanged. My internal storage is close to full, if that makes any difference. I have downloaded an SD fixer app, but when I opened it, it said that my SD was already writeable. Any input or advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
Edit: making 5Gb space on INTERNAL storage seems to have solved the problem. Sorry for wasting everyone's time. Mods please close thread, OP a jackass.
Edit 2: nope, problem persists. Anyone have any sugestions?

Regarding Internal Storage issue - Please help

hi guys,
please help me out.. i have no games installed on my device. only required few apps out of which most of them are moved to sd card. all my music/photos is on sd card. yet the internal storage space fills up very quicly and even i cant update my existing apps. an error crops up - not sufficient storage left.
I have to reformat my phone again and again to get storage space reclaimed.
I've been using Clean Master to free up space whenever I update anything.
Side note: looks like Titanium Backup can remove system apps now. Failed in the past, but I just uninstalled Bubbles.
Now if only I knew what was safe to remove and what wasn't.
If an app can be disabled normally, can one assume it's safe to uninstall?

Integrating system app updates doesn't work. Tried to integrate YouTube, and now it's completely gone. Crap

Root the device and uninstall all bloatware from system. also, with some effort, you can install Link2SD and move most apps and data to SD-card after Root.
