Pato, I've been watching this thread for a while now and I still don't understand what you're asking for exactly. What exactly do you mean by "hard reset" and in which way would it reset your Zenfone 2?:what: If you can show what you mean either by a video, pictures or written reference then please do.
The only kind of reset I know that would clean the entire phone (except* root) to factory defaults is the factory reset option. That will make the phone as it was before you set it up, while still retaining the latest updates (I think). I really can't test it myself since I don't have my Zenfone in my possession yet, so you could just wipe the data and cache and that should do it.
*Edit: Correction on what I said about root, thanks again sorg for correcting that, I was sleepy then lol.

I watched the videos pato, and it's exactly what I said before that "hard reset" in this case is indeed the 'factory reset' option, I didn't see anything else. So like you saw in the video, do the factory reset and that'll be the end of it.

1) "Factory reset" and "hard reset" is exactly the same meaning. ("Hard reset" term came from Windows Mobile.)
2) factory reset does NOT erase root. SuperSU is in system partition and thus not affected by factory reset. You have to re-install stock firmware in order to get rid of SuperSU.

ok now i understand thanks guys......

Desperate to do a hard reset

Excuse my poor writing English.
I was cleanig my sd card whith sk tools program, and I made a mistake and clean all files from main memory.
Now I don't have access to the programs, and the soft reset and the camaras buttons don't work.
How can I do a hard reset in these circumstances?
Please help. I really need the phone working.
Thanks.
hard reset is usually done by holding in the top two inner (menu) buttons while pressing the soft reset button, let go the reset button first then when the warning comes on screen release the other 2. Then press call to start the reset process.
Thank you for the answer.
The problem is the soft reset button doesn't work.
Is there other way to do the hard reset?
hard reset
You shold do:
Start>settings>system>clear storage> it is a hard reset too
Surely if the files on the phones memeory has been wiped the pressing the buttons on the handset will be pointless as there will be no programmes/commands linked to them
Sounds pretty serious to me
reset problem

If somebody know another way of doing the hard reset, please inform.

just another two thoughts are you aware that if you hold the power button the phone restart it like soft reset!! so i guess you may want to try this b4 anything else i mean hold the two soft buttons & attempt reset via power!!
you may also want to try a programme called IBE Tweaks it has HARD RESET feature built in it!!
let us know how things go
Reflash the rom & dont forget to run a uspl first
After several attempts finally I managed to do the hard reset using the buttons, and my pda is work fine again
In any way, I will try your indications to prevent futures problems.
Thanks jahrami, you have been very useful.
U most welcome so glad u got ur phone back
Congratulations

[Q] Accidental factory reset

kid put it my pin a few times too many and the phone went into factory reset. I quickly pulled the battery though
Is there a way to get my pictures off the internal storage? I'm able to see the phone when booting into fastboot.
Thanks!

The above will likely be your best bet. Note that the normal unlock procedure wipes the device, which likely will not be good for your salvaging. You will need to unlock with the method that doesn't force the wipe. This would be your best bet for achieving that.

Locked screen

I rooted and put on a screen lock pattern and want to go back to normal screen. I can't get back into the options. I might do another Titanium BU and try to do a factory reset or preferable a return to stock to get the value package then reroot. Suggestions as to get it back normal are gladly accepted.
PS...googled this subject but nip real help.

Why can't you get back into options? What happens when you click "Select screen lock"? Can't select swipe?

Nope. Goes to the pattern screen and wants me to do a new pattern. Been flashing (Samsung Infuse 4G) for two years but I can't figure the LG out. I have everything ready to use LGFlash and go back to the April tot. Then I am thinking of flashing the value package and then re-rooting. Not sure that is the correct procedure and was looking for a little guidance here.

I would probably just do a factory reset from settings first.

I will try. I do want to use the LG Flash Tool but not sure what is wrong with it and me... Every time I load it, it starts up Republic of Korea, asks for id and password, I use wbr and tejaram and it doesn't work. Not sure if I did something wrong there.
Tried factory reset, it went to TWRP, so I just rebooted at that point. Wasn't sure what to do and I don't want to brick the phone.
If you replaced the factory recovery then just wipe user data in twrp and reboot.
Wiping user data shouldn't brick your device.

Okay that worked. Thanks. Now I have to figure out the LG Flash Tool and why it won't work.
I keep getting the enter id and password screen and can't get past that.
Finally figured it out. Had to replace csmg_reg_key.dll with the megalock.dll
Went to stock, then flashed the value package. Said it was at 100% but said download failed. Not sure what happened but the phone boots and it says Software version is E98010k. Do I need to reflash?

Try flashing the stock from the computer. Don't factory reset it. That might help you maybe.

A word of advice for folks who unlocked the bootloader without doing a factory reset

Yeah hey y'know how the usual default for accessing the bootloader menu in phones is like, Vol. Up+Power or something like that? Yeah, don't do that on the Mi A2 Lite. It'll factory reset the phone.
Signed a dumbass who now has to set up their phone a third time this month (first time was intentional, second time was a f*** up trying to get Camera2 APIs working.) xx

There's a thread about unlocking the bootloader without losing data. I'd you do that, some flag is left behind and getting to stock recovery does a factory reset.
But yeah... Generally not something you'd expect to happen automatically and silently.

So ignoring my anger driven original post, it turns out that if you forcefully deny the phone a factory reset when you unlock the bootloader (to enable Camera2 APIs, for example, as I did), then do make sure to not hold Vol. Up+Power otherwise it'll end up going straight to that factory reset it originally wanted to do back when you unlocked that bad boy. Considering it happened to me first hand, I'd recommend NOT giving it a try yourself to see if it's actually the case unless you don't care about whats on your A2 Lite.
Vol down + power = fastboot (bootloader)
Vol up + power = recovery
The stock recovery doesn't really do much but it is involved in factory reset (either explicitly called or when unlocking bootloader).
I have started the stock recovery but it didn't do anything (I think a "script" on data is used to tell it what to do).
Okay but generally speaking stock recovery's shouldn't automatically factory reset the phone without prompt? No stock recovery I've ever seen has done that
Also I just realized in my anger driven stupor that this was accidentally posted in the ROMs section lmao sorry mods
