[Q] Bootloop (softbrick to hardbrick back to softbrick) - Xiaomi Redmi 1S

Long story short:
EDIT: I somehow magically (after 2 hours of trying) got into recovery, cleaned and wiped everything and booted into MIUI. Switched to CM 12.1, leaving this thread for anyone that experiences the same problem.
1. I was running CM11-R24, with an early version of the Xcelerate kernel. All was fine and well but today it restarted on its own a couple of times. It would enter a bootloop that I managed to get out of by going into recovery and rebooting from there.
2. Bootloop happened again, couldn't get into recovery.
3. Installed newest twrp recovery via fastboot. No change.
4. Managed to hardbrick my phone by installing a wrong .img of a global version.
5. Managed to revert back to a softbrick by installing the right (hopefully) global version of my mobile phone.
6. I did manage to read a logcat inbetween and I remember there being something about the kernel settings being nulled to default, because there was a failed boot 2 times in a row.
Links:
Hard-brick to soft-brick procedure I followed - http en.miui.c o m thread-54139-1-1.html
Used global version: Singapore 50? Going to try other versions
Settings in MiFlash tool (using 2014.11 version). - http postimg.o r g /image/hh122e54j
Current problems:
1. When powering up the phone, it will not go beyond the Mi logo.
2. When trying to enter recovery (volup+power) I enter another loop. It is normally 10-15 seconds of Mi logo, power down, 3-5 seconds of Mi logo, power down. Repeat. I do not stop holding the recovery combination while this happens.
3. I have installed via fastboot all of these recoveries - TWRP 2830, TWRP 2860, Philz latest recovery. After installing each of them, I can not enter recovery mode again. Flashing a new recovery doesn't seem to change that.
I have access to fastboot, currently I installed the stable fastboot rom version "armani_images_JHCCNBH45.0_4.3_cn_e7e373f319".
I can not get adb to recognize the device, only fastboot. Can't get a logcat because of it. If you think I might be doing it wrong, please walk me through the process.
How do I get it back to working condition? The phone was bought in Bulgaria from a retailer, but I don't know which country it was originally shipped from, only that it's a WCDMA version.

Throw it away and get your self some reliable phone unlike redmi , it's a crap lots of issue ... I prefer Motorola .

LG G4 boot loop into TWRP

Hello everyone,
yesterday I flashed a new Cyanogenmod 14 nightly (12062016) for my G4 from earlier nightly in TWRP. After reboot the phone keeps going back to TWRP and I can't seem to get it to boot to system..
I tried factory reset, reflashing back to old nightly, flashing stock.. but nothing seems to work.
Also tried doing this in the TWRP terminal:
dd[space]if=/dev/zero[space]of=/dev/block/platform/f9824900.sdhci/by-name/fota
Didn't fix the loop, I guess because it wasn't the OTA update that caused the problem in the first place.
If anyone has an idea, I would greatly appreciate the help!
Thanks.
If you can reach download mode you could try reflashing back to stock then starting again.....Hope you get yours fixed - Sorry to say this but mine did a very similar thing only 24 hours before you posted!!! Only mine was on stock FW and was in use at the time - I've now had to swap it as valuebasket who sold me the phone have ceased trading. If yours is a UK model you may be able to get it replaced under warranty - believe that LG guarantee their phones for 2 years and a ruling by the European court said that flashing a custom rom doesn't invalidate any warranties.
I have the same exact issue, I also flashed the latest CM14 nightly and cannot get the device to boot any rom.
I have even tried flashing stock rom but I get the same problem.
From what I have read, the bootloop issue happens once the device boots but I don't seem to be getting that far.
Any ideas?
Ran into the same problem 3 days ago. This is the first time I have encountered a non-revertible issue in 3 years as a cyanogenmod user. This changes my opinion on how safe it is to make use of a custom ROM. I tried to wipe everything, reinstall TWRP, change TWRP with another recovery, reinstall a safe NAND backup of mine.....nothing.....it went into boot loop. Before I read this post, I was convinced my phone encountered the infamous G4 bootloop problem.....now I see there are other examples, so it shouldn't be the case. Long story short, I had to check my device in at the LG assistance, with 25 days as time forecast.
The guilty nightly was 20161205.
I have never seen anything like this...
This has solved it for me - I installed LG Bridge and flashed the factory firmware using the tool. Now it seems I'm back on stock but at least it's working.
got mine working. I had to install LGUP and flash stock ROM. Once flashed I installed CM14 and I am back up and running again.
I tried LGUP but it could not recognize the device while this was looping.....a bad experience......
I have the same issue. My phone was updated to 20i via the original stock firmware, then I put twrp 3.0.2-0 and cyanogenmod on. I did a cyanogenmod update from within cyanogenmod, which just booted into twrp, then I manually installed the update zip that cyanogenmod had downloaded, then it always boots into twrp. I wonder if initiating the update from within cyanogenmod was the cause. The phone is not detected by LGUP or LG Bridge. I've tried this on a win10 machine, and a win7 vm from linux. I have access to twrp, and download mode by doing the reboot into bootloader from within twrp.
If those people who have fixed this could give more details about how they did it, that would be good. What exact steps did you take? What stock firmware version did you have before installing a custom rom? What OS version were you using? What twrp version?
Well. Mine got stuck in bootloop for the second time today. What is going on? In between the two bootloops I had one good update with CM. Using TWRP 3.0.2.1. Steps to reproduce failure: updating CM from within CM, it autoreboots into TWRP and after that nothing happends, no autoinstall. Then after a manual install of the new CM the bootloop starts.
Resolve the problem:
* Install LGUP 8994 DLL Ver 0 0 3 23, Install LGUP Install Ver 1 14, get the latest KDZ
* Get the phone into download mode with usb cable and after that in firmware update mode
* Startup LGUP and choose refurbish and select the kdz file.
* After that you can boot into your stock LG firmware again, reinstall TWRP an CM. If you want so.
Read that it is advised to manual update cm from within TWRP. TWRP will get an update in the future to solve this bootloop problem.

I second that. Same issue and neither LG Up nor LG Bridge will recognize my device. Looking in device manager there are no serial interfaces. Do I need a special driver that provides a com port for a phone in recovery or fastboot mode?
---Edith 2016-12-12: Found a solution for my issue:
The phone has to be in _download_ mode, not in recovery or fastboot. After realizing that I have to boot the phone in a different manner, it will be recognized by LG UP.
Here is how to boot the pone in download-mode:
- Power off your LG device.
- Press and hold Volume Up button.
- Connect your device to PC with a USB cable while holding the Volume Up button.
- You’ll boot into download mode with “Firmware Update” written on top of the screen.
Now everything is fine again.

I was able to get out of that by also wiping by-name/misc. Don't do that, though, because then your wifi mac address will get messed up and you'll spend all day looking for a permanent fix for that.
I suggest reflashing a stock KDZ using LGUP, as others have said. You can get the usb drivers from LG Bridge.
I will release a fix for that soon. Check the twrp thread for updates on this.
Hi
I also have this problem
I installed cm-14.1-20161201-NIGHTLY-h815 successfully and was running it for almost 2 weeks without issues, today I updated to cm-14.1-20161213-NIGHTLY-h815 from cmupdater and I have been ending up in recovery every time I rebooted.
I tried flashing the latest cm recovery and reflashing the rom, with full wipes but no luck.
Full steps of recovering would be appreciated (for example, there are comments about flashing the latest stock rom, but a link to this rom would be helpful)
Thanks
Good news regarding this:

The above will fix TWRP bootloop issues as well and I also released a first h811 version which should allow installing CM etc as it should.
Keep in mind that this is a BETA and not an official TWRP release.
Please report back in the above thread!
.
Does your twrp beta really fix the boot loop even it is already happening. What do I have to wipe? I have not managed to get out of the boot loop despite intalling it.
Is using using LG Up to flash to the stock rom really the only option?
Edited 2017-01-25 2:45 pm:
Well, sometimes you just have to be patient. Powered down the phone and when th H815 restarted CM did boot. Great. :good:
Hey, I just want to share a small detail, possibly a fluke that helped me overcome the bootloop.
So...I started with a fresh, stock H815, I don't quite remember the firmware version..it was something like version "20g"..
OK, I looked up several guides and tried to get the newest stable versions of each tool. I went through with the official bootloader unlock, then moved on to rooting: Kingroot didn't work for me so I went on installing twrp in fastboot mode so I could afterwards install supersu and root.
I got there eventually but first I was stuck in bootloop - kept ending up in twrp interface. I found the 2 dd commands but those didn't work for me as the msm_sdcc folder did not exist, but instead there was a "f9824900.sdhci". Tried to overwrite this one ...but as others have stated as well, it didn't work.
At that point, I had nothing to lose, I was starting to accept that I had soft-bricked my precious G4 so..I went on installing the DU 10.6 7.1.1 rom and the stock gapps, wiped dalvik, rebooted and held my breath...not literally
About 12 minutes later, after an endless red, spinning logo, my shiny ping pong paddle showed me a different screen, a fresh start welcome screen .
Almost 24h / 10-12 reboots (twrp included) / 70+ apps installed and removed later, the new OS holds around 2G ram average, a bit better battery life, smoother transitions, flawless navigation, flush streaming over both 3G/LTE & 2.4/5 G wifi.
FYI the reboots were intended, wanted to see consistency in boots - we're in the green . Now testing long term stability with moderate/high usage.
There is 1 aspect I noticed, there are a couple of contexts when the interface burps (several menus, various situations, never in apps) and resets back to homescreen...but I think that's more of a launcher topic than an OS one.
Other than that, so far I'm happy with the mod.
Hope my experience helps others that might be in the same spot I was or at lest boosts their confidence to try out a decent idea they might be pondering.

Stuck on team win recovery project please help

I have no idea how to root or anything like that, I bought this oneplus 3 and had a update a week later.. so when I did the software update it took me into teamwin recovery mode and now I don't know how to get back into my phone please help....
Did you buy the phone second hand or did you try to flash TWRP yourself? It shouldn't have TWRP installed by default.
Regardless, you can use TWRP to flash the latest update.
Given that you have TWRP, I'm assuming that you have an unlocked bootloader. Did you notice a warning pop up everytime you reboot your phone before? It should say something along the lines of "your device has been unlocked and can't be trusted". If not, you'll have to unlock it (it wipes your phone in the process).
If the bootloader is unlocked, you can simply download and flash the latest zip for OOS 4.0.3 in TWRP. This will update you phone and replace TWRP with the stock recovery (so you don't run into this problem again in the future when installing an OTA). If you don't intend to modify your phone in any way, then this is all you need to do, your phone should be functional.
There are plenty of threads with detailed guides on how to do all of this.
I'm also stuck on TWRP after stupidly downloading the latest OTA and I don't know what to do!
Phone won't boot normal, just goes off.
Situation:
- Bootloader, Fastboot and TWRP wil load.
- Device seen by windows
- Zip install in TWRP gets stuck at 'patching zip unconditiontally'
- Another zip flashes, but gets stuck at the end, no reboot option (manually but that's not the way)
Can someone please point me in the right direction? I don't care if I lose data, just want my phone back!
not helping:
Saying i'm a dipsh-t I know, I know, I will do better in the future, for now, help a brother out please

Simple, check the OnePlus D/L sites for this one http://oxygenos.oneplus.net.s3.amazonaws.com/recovery_op3.img and flash it by TWRP or fastboot to RECOVERY. Boot once with the official Recovery and all ist fine again.
This is issue of using a faulty twrp so for that when ur phone us booting up go to fastboot and flash twrp 3.0.4-1 and everything will work

Similar Problem here:
just wanted to flash latest OOS 4.0.3, so I flashed back stock recovery with flashify and rebooted into recovery mode to flash the already downloaded OOS 4.0.3. zip. That's when it began to go poop! After rebooting it just went dark with no Chance to power it on again! No dice with power button, Volume up/down + power button, nothing! Not even the LED's are blinking when plugged in. So this one seems to be basically dead!
I got it once booting again after randomly pushing the buttons (after x minutes!?), but everytime I reboot the phone it just shuts off without beeing able to power it on again. At the Moment it's dead!
Any ideas what might happened? If I get it on again, should I immediately reset it to factory Settings?
I am kinda lost here! Any help/ideas would be much appreciated!
Flashify? Never used it and never trusted apps which flash stuff on a running system. Use fastboot and reflash the recovery partition. Link to recovery is in my former post.
fastboot flash recovery PATHTOIMGFILE
Thank you for your advice! Still a lot to learn! Got it up again, will try as you suggested!
It appeared that my stock recovery file was corrupted , but all is fine again! Thank you very much!

I may have been the person you traded with to get the OnePlus 3, but I took the phone back and after 5 hours I got it up and running.
The phone would boot to TWRP, but even after wiping the entire system and dragging a ROM zip to the internal storage, reinstalling did nothing. It just kept booting back to recovery.
The solution entailed the following.
Download stock recovery IMG. Flashed through TWRP. Rebooted recovery and now was back to stock recovery.
Download the official OxygenOS ROM zip from the OnePlus website and changed the name to update.zip
Next I downloaded Android studio for access to ADB. I had never used ADB before, but I knew this was needed to push a file to the phone.
Needless to say, ADB kept freezing my computer when I would type in the commands to side load.
I deleted Android studio and installed a minimal ADB/Fastboot I found online. I opened my command prompt, typed the command for sideloading, and immediately got my installation starting. It took about 10 minutes to fully install. When it was finished, I rebooted and had a fully functioning OnePlus 3

Did factory reset rooted XT 1799-2, now phone only boots into recovery mode

Hi,
My previous post relates to this one. Due to that problem I got, I had to factory reset my device to get my camera working again. However, instead, my phone rebooted into TWRP and would not boot system normally. When I tried to go to factory mode via fastboot I ended up in endless bootloop. Back in TWRP I tried to restore my backed up ROM from before rooting, but nothing really changed. I am really desperate because I have not find any solutions for my model and I don't want to use other montana models stock ROMs as I suspect them not to be compatible. What shall I do?
Cheers

Ok I was able the Stock rom, but it is Chinese, not the global one wihout Gapps and lots of bloatware. Do you know if there is also a GLOBAL stock ROM I can get? Conversely, is there perhaps a custom ROM like Lineage OS or others that is compatible with this device? Cheers

Sorry this is the stock rom of montana_retcn, to install the playstore by the store that comes in it, and it has the English language.
The rom that you were supposed to be a shop rom of the store that you bought, mine came with one of this but unfortunately I do not know where it has to download ...

Turn off the device, boot into Fastboot Flash Mode using vol down + power, using volume keys scroll and select factory mode and device will turn on. the next time you boot up the device, it won't go into TWRP directly. I have faced this issue many times. Hope this helps.

I'm having the same problem with my wifes g5s.
I have found that from twrp>restart>bootloader (phone then enters bootloader) I can the immediately choose "start" to boot the phone.
But that is a hassle I'd prefer my wife not having to go through...

Flash stock ROM via fastboot problem will be solved..
As far as people who need play store can flash gapps via TWRP as a same method we use for custom ROMs.
P.S. i will not suggest to buy XT1799-2 because this SKU is purely made for Chinese Market, if you need any custom ROM go to Weibo.com/diyroms and post a request to build a custom ROM for this device.
And there are some custom ROMs available that you can search via baidu.com ( Chinese Search Engine).
I will try to find any ROM and post for you guys and also post. Request to build for XT1799-2.

so have you find any global custom rom for this device ?

Weird bootloop with locked bootloader

Long story short, I ended up with a classic bootloop (shows boot animation continuously) from messing around with Magisk modules, so I did a wipe from recovery, still bootloop, so I tried reverting completely to stock with the OEM downloads. I tried flash_all_except_storage.bat, and flash_all.bat, but this time it was a different bootloop. The phone shows the Android One logo, the screen flickers like it's going to the boot animation, but then it just goes back to the Unlocked Bootloader Warning Screen, then the Android One logo, and loops like that. I dumbly thought locking the bootloader, reflashing everything, and starting over like it were a new phone would fix the issue, so I did flash_all_lock.bat, but now I'm just stuck with this weird bootloop and a locked bootloader. Trying to unlock the bootloader with fastboot just gives me "oem unlock is not allowed", so I'm at a loss here.
Does anyone know of anything else I could do, or is this a hard brick?
With a locked bootloader EDL flash probably is your last chance.
Maybe this thread helps:

I got stuck with a similar problem and that was the only option, to boot into EDL mode you will need to partially dissasemble your device and flash the image via fastboot or via MiFlash (download the latest version as I had problems with an older one). Since that incident I kept the bootloader unlocked just in case something happens.
I had the phone booted into EDL mode and attempted to flash the stock ROM (10.0.3.0) with MiFlash, but it errored out with an ERROR_UNSUPPORTED_TYPE. I tried with the previous version, 10.0.2.0 and it worked for some reason. That fixed it though, so thanks! I've been lightly tinkering with rooting android phones a few years now, but until encountering this issue, I'd never heard of EDL mode. You learn something new every day? ?
I have the same issue with my nephew 's mi a2 lite which has the bootloader locked.
It only shows the android one logo.
I cannot go to recovery mode, but I can go in fastboot.
Changing from "a" to "b" doesn't solve anything and being the bootloader locked is not possible to flash anything from fastboot.
So I've opened the device and I've short circuited the edl pinpoint to be able to flash with MiTool (I've used an old version since more recent ones gave errors when flashing).
I was able to flash both the latest official ROM and the oldest one which I've found ( daisy_global_images_V11.0.14.0.QDLMIXM_10.0 and daisy_global_images_V9.6.4.0.ODLMIFF_8.1 respectively).
In both cases the device still is "frozen" with the android one logo when I've tried to turn it on after the flashing procedures gave me a successful status.
What else can I do?

NERVOUS about flashing Lineage 18 :-(

HI,
I am not new to flashing phones and tablets, but I am a bit confused about the new partition format.
I have a nokia 6.1.
I want to flash the official lineage 18 ROM on it.
I downloaded the latest version , and also the latest lineage recovery.
I followed the install instructions on the website . I believe, exactly.
But after I have executed this command '' fastboot flash boot xxxxx.img"" to temporarily boot recovery, the phone stays in download mode and does nothing.
I then thought maybe I need to reboot?, and power down, because the next thing on the lineage install instructions is to start the phone having powered down.
Anyways, when it boots up, it hangs and stays on the android one screen.
Power/Volume up does nothing.
Whats worse is, it is no longer recognised in ADB.
I was really worried. I let the battery die overnight, and then tried to get some response, but no - still stuck.
Finally, after more fiddling, I got it into download mode, and was able to flash stock using OST.
I tried again - same thing, and once again luckily managed after an hour or so to get it into download mode.
So I have reflashed stock, and wondering if somebody a lot brighter than me can give some advice??
Currently on stock android 10, but would much prefer lineage 18 , as I have no need for google services.
Can only think something is going wrong with whichever partition I am temporarily booting to recovery?
Many Thanks ( with a relieved sigh for escaping a brick )

Something similar happened to me, it turns out that from android 10 stock you have to first:
fastboot flash recovery xxxx.img
you will get an error in the cmd, that's good, now
fasboot boot xxxx.img
.
this was mentioned a long time ago but was never mentioned more in other threads
if you get stuck you can use ost la. also remember the slot A B when you flash the rom
