[Q] 925i ROM on a 925t S6 Edge? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge

Hello guys!
Well, I'm from Brazil and when travelling in USA decided to buy the new Galaxy S6 Edge. Looked for the unlocked international version but could not find it. So, searching the web I saw that the T-Mobile frequencies are the same from my brazilian carrier (Claro). Bought it!

Now I'm trying to get rid of the T-mobile stuffs (logos and apps). So decided to try to install a international ROM (SM-G925i - Brazil ZTO) with no success. Odin gave me "fail". Tryied to root (CF - autoroot using the S6 version because the S6 Edge version was briking my phone) and it worked. Then I tryied to install the ZTO room again also with no success.
So I change it back to default T-Mobile ROM, that I don't know if it is locked or no (will try my carrier chip later because the one I have isn't micro - need to buy one).
But it seems that the SM-G925T have some king of lock to block the instalation of ROMs from other countries (market!).
Is there any way to bypass it? In other words can I install a SM-G925i ROM on a SM-G925T S6 Edge?
Thank you all!

It's not just this phone. Most modern handsets do not allow installation of other model ROMs. Developers can make hacked up versions that work, but there are serious risks of problems with those ROMs. Your best bet is to root, install Titanium Backup Pro, and freeze the T-Mobile stuff. Don't uninstall anything. T-Mobile handsets are fairly unbloated as it is, so it's not a big order.

All right.. just updating... with the stock T-Mobile ROM I tryied my carrier SIM card and.......... "invalid SIM card" message appeared. So the T-Mobile S6 Edge IS locked! And it didn't even ask me for a code!

dc/dc, if the bootloader is locked is there a way to unlocks it? Maybe TWRP?
What I'd like to do is install a umbranded international ROM and continue to get the OTAs!
Thanks in advance!
Cristiano

The bootloader isn't locked. The phone can be network unlocked using an app that came on the phone (Device Unlock maybe?)

Yes, but the permanent unlock says that my device isn't elegible and the temporary unlock says that fails to apply the unlock! I'm already in Brazil so I cannot go to a T-Mobile store to fix it

Inserted my carrier SIM card with the T-Mobile ROM rooted but got the same message "Invalid SIM card".
It's insane.. that should be a way to get the network unlocked using other method than asking it for T-Mobile.

You needed to use that app to unlock it before returning to Brasil, and you would need a T-Mobile account. There are some sites that have the codes, so just do a search through here.

Please follow this and other threads,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-galaxy-s6-edge/help/t-mobile-device-unlock-app-t3086772
It´s a matter of fact that if you got a t-mobile phone locked, ther is no way to avoid the app, and if you are not elegible, you just can wait for a rom that can be flashed to overcome the app.

I contacted T-Mobile and got the response that I need to have $100 in my account to be "elegible" to network unlock my phone.
Man, it's really insane! In Brazil all phones must be unlocked and if one is locked the carrier must unlock it for free.. that's the law!
TMobo, you sucks!

Honestly, it's not T-Mobile's fault that you didn't do your research.

There is no research that can fix a stupid american law that constraints consumers to be tied in a carrier allowing it to have "elegibilities" to be free. Honestly, I think acting this way isn't the american spirit, for shure!

There's no law involved at all. The telecom industry in the USA is simply different than in Brasil. It's changing, but no country will ever work the same as another. It's not T-Mobile or the USA's fault that you're having trouble. Sorry mate.

All right buddy... let's get ride of the "off topic" discussion. Thanks for helping me!
As I'll be able to be back in USA only at october and there is no way to send my Edge to TM, I'll continue to wait for a way to install a international ROM on it or wait for a MPCS ROM to unlock it after rooted and get back to TM ROM but network unlocked! This way besides having the TM stuffs and logos I can use my carrier SIM and continue receiving the OTAs at least!
Any news I'll let you know!

I also have a 128GB S6 TMOB and the Metro firmware worked just fine. We need to be able to flash another rom to this phone to get the phone to accept the unlock code. Im not a developer so Im stuck waiting like you

I do the same.. Every morning with the hope to find a solution..
I think we only need a developer who want really do that.. I follow this forum and see amazing developers..
So.. Please help us.

Got this morning the 4.4.3-update for my N7 2013 LTE; now it WON'T connect to Vodafone NL anymore...
More people have the same problem, that it won't connect to the provider anymore?
Can you try the previous radio and see if it is working?

I had exactly the same thing, and also with Vodafone NL. Although, I assume that's only a coincidence: when I try to search for other networks, I get a toast message with an error saying: "Error searching for networks".
Therefore, I took the radio image from the 4.4.2 factory image, flashed it to my N7, and then I got my mobile network connection back.

I flashed an older radio image, and that one's working. However, since I see only 1 other person who has reported this problem over the past few days, I am wondering whether we have a defect in our hardware that emerges when using the new radio. If it would be purely software, I would expect a lot more reports about this defect.

If everything works with the old radio, Im guessing its most likely software. Cant test LTE right now, so I cant give you guys more feedback. But the fact that you both use the same provider might also be a factor. I would recommend trying out someone else's SIM (different provider) on the new radio and see how that goes.

It seems, that our N7 have received the wrong baseband-version during the update!
Left is the update we've received in the NL, right is the update received in other countries!
Have a look at the baseband-version: the only difference is the "letter"! We should have received the "G", but we got the "H"!

Confirmed, I went several times between the 4.4.2 and 4.4.3 factory images and with a vodafone sim inserted on 4.4.3 it can even scan for networks anymore!
I have the same problem here and using Ziggo mobile. Smalband version DEB-H00_2.42.0_1204
Dont have a rooted Nexus or anything else, just standard. I'm pretty new with android so i really dont have a clue what to do.
Google support is not very helpfull just the basic thinks like deleting cache, restore.

live with it, until an update comes along, or unlock and flash the 4.4.2 factory image
I have the same issue. Nexus 7 2013 LTE, tested with both Vodafone NL and Ziggo Mobiel SIM-cards: same issue.
What is the easiest way to revert to previous Android version (4.4.2)? I'm also non-rooted. Dataloss is no issue, since I just wiped my device to see if there was a user setting messing it up...
---
To downgrade:
- I needed to unlock my bootloader ("fastboot oem unlock"). This voids the warranty, which I don't have in NL anyway.
- I downloaded the files on this page: http://www.androidbeat.com/2013/11/flash-factory-image-nexus-device/
- I followd the steps to run 'flash-all' (after unzipping everything). This wipes all userdate (which was already gone).

Ziggo appears to use the Vodafone network, so the bug could still be related to the interaction with Vodafone only.
Anyone on KPN or T-mobile? (I have the same problem and also am currently on Vodafone...)

I was thinking the same, but still it is a software bug. I noticed that I was also unable to 'downgrade' the network type to '3G' in the buggy firmware. I could only select 4G. Just tested in 4.4.2 and I can select the lower version there.
If it is a Vodafone-only issue, I am very affraid that this will never be resolved...

Somewhere else was reported that the same device works with a Lebara SIM but not with a Vodafone SIM. Lebara uses the KPN network in the Netherlands, so somehow the bug is related to the Vodafone setup in some way .
I am back at 4.4.2. Vodafone NL and android 4.4.3 are not a good combination .

No one knows... Moto got sold to Lenovo.
Moto before was google owned. Then it was dev friendly and one could unlock the BL.
But now with Lenovo. We will know once someone gets his hands on the international/European version. I think in the US its only provided by Verizon. Which of course has no option to unlock the BL.

Well if you buy a phone of Verizon it will be probably Verizon "branded" and they will close down and lock the phone. Most Verizon phones have locked bootloaders.
Zero chance of Play Droid on Verizon being bootloader unlockable
Well, I guess I need to start looking somewhere else

Developer option to allow the bootloader to be unlocked is not the same thing as actually having the bootloader unlocked, which involves getting the IMEI / ESN from the phone, providing that to Moto on their website, getting a response code back from them, entering that into the phone, and THEN the bootloader will be unlocked. This is apparently a very common misconception because everyone criticizes me for saying the Moto Z phones cannot be bootloader unlocked because this option is clearly visible on the dev options, when it actually does nothing to unlock the bootloader. It is the first step required to do it but nothing is unlocked until Moto says so.

CSC incorrect in VZW Note 10+ 5G

i have the verizon Note 10+ 5g (sm-n976v) and it has been unlocked. around the same time the CSC changed from VZW to GCF. it used to read VZW/GCF/VZW after the unlock it reads GCF/GCF/XAA. there are some things that don't work with GCF and i tried the *#272*IMEI# and it does nothing. how can i get the CSC back?

How was the note unlocked?
just inserted a new sim card from another carrier after being paid off.
with previous samsungs it would reboot with the correct software to match the sim. still boots up verizon and now defaults to Celsius 24 hour time and error when you click update software.
reading on here there is a key combination you can press to get to the csc menu but this CSC blocks it.
ive heard root plus samsung information app can change the csc. but i can't find root for this exact phone.
Did the CSC change on it's own? Have you tried using *#272*IMEI#?

The CSC displayed will match whatever carrier SIM is in it. Are you sure the last three digit code is now XAA? Because that should've read VZW to begin with and it never changes.
The last three is XAA. It is a Verizon and with a cricket or AT&T T-Mobile etc... it says GCF and just doesn’t work right. The CSC needs to be changed but I can’t find a root to change it that way and the dialer isn’t working for that. I tried a stock rom with and without nand erase and pit.

It changed on its own and the dialer code doesn’t work at all.
Something doesn't add up. For one, Verizon locks all their phones for 60 days, so your Verizon model should still be locked.
Two, you don't unlock it just by sticking in another carriers SIM card. Verizon has to the unlock for you.
Three, you can't change the last CSC code. If it says XAA, then you have a factory unlocked device, not a Verizon device. That also means if it says XAA now, it never said VZW.
And what is GCF? What carrier SIM card did you put in it?

My friend that isn't correct....Verizon doesn't unlock phones. I have had samsung phones on Verizon for years and they never had to unlock. Now with the new rule of locking devices for 60 days, I would imagine that none of us will have to call an unlock....it will happen.

Well, the SIM lock/unlock is controlled by the carrier, in his case, Verizon. You may not have to call them to unlock after 60 days, but they still implement it, even if it is automatic.
So yes, Verizon DOES unlock their phones.

So you're wanting a full Verizon firmware with WiFi calling and VoLTE, correct?
Are you on Verizon and using a Verizon SIM card?
I am on a Verizon phone with stock Verizon firmware and it changed my CSC. I have flashed and reflashed the Verizon rom and. It stays at GCF. I’m just looking to get to a menu to change it back.

There's no menu to change it back. And if the last CSC says XAA it's not a Verizon phone.
Again... Are you on Verizon and using a Verizon SIM card?
If you want help, you gotta supply answers to my questions.
I use At&t and T-Mobile. I would prefer a non-Verizon rom. But it is the n976v so there is no non-Verizon rom and I would be okay using the Verizon rom but the GCF is causing problems.

Here's all I can tell you.
There's no menu to change the CSC back to Verizon. The firmware on the phone detects the carrier for whatever SIM you insert and automatically provisions for that carrier and changes the CSC. The only way to change it back to VZW is to insert a Verizon SIM.
Here's the other issue. The N976V is specific to Verizon. Samsung didn't make an unlocked 5G version or a TMB 5G or an ATT 5G. You can't flash it to unlocked firmware then to another carrier firmware. It's only Verizon. And no matter what you flash it with, as soon as you put a TMB or ATT SIM in it, it will change the CSC. I did some searching and the GCF CSC basically means unknown carrier. My guess is again, it won't recognize other carriers since it's specific to VZW's 5G.
I'm not sure what all isn't working right, but my guess is the N976V isn't completely compatible with those other carriers. It's the first Galaxy in three years that's not universal for all three carriers.
If you want a Note 10 that you can swap between carriers, you need the N975U1. It's not 5G, but it's unlocked and compatible will all major US carriers.

Question Need help to Convert SM-F936U/DS ATT Fold 4 to Indian Fold 4 version?

So I am using AT&T version Zfold 4 model SM-F936U/DS in India and my software version is as follows:
Build number
SP2A.220305.013.F936USQU1AVGA
Service provider software version
SAOMC_SM-F936U_OYN_GCF_12_0003
GCF/GCF.GCF/XAA
Its stuck on android 12 May update.
I want to flash Indian firmware to make it Indian version of Z fold 4 for faster updates and enabling the call recorder.
What do I need to do? Any help will be appreciated. If this is answered anywhere please provide links to that thread and I will delete this one.
I am totally confused about CSC, firmware version, carrier version etc.
Not gonna happen without root, even then might be difficult.
The Indian model is a F936B model. Trying to flash the firmware on it is like trying to flash IOS on an android.
Did see a way to change CSC in the forum however I believe you needed to have the compatible variant as it needed the OXM ROM flashed 1st.

Your phone, F936U, is carrier locked to the U.S. network, AT&T, and if genuine, can only receive updates when connected on their network as unlike other models, AT&T issue their own firmware updates.
This model also has a locked bootloader which prevents the flashing of alternative stock firmware.
Also, it seems strange that a phone that was only launched in August 2022 would have a, "May", update. Install DevCheck, free from the Play Store and check if you have a clone phone.

Seems genuine. Your mention of a May update threw me.
It is running the F936USQU1AVGA firmware which it was launched with and therefore, has never received an update.
However, it is still a bootloader locked model, even though you have it carrier unlocked. The only way to update it is to insert an AT&T SIM card and connect to their network in the US. Other than that, you will need to do a search to see if there are any custom ROM's that utilises the locked AT&T bootloader. Alternatively, just carry on using it as it is

Thanks for clearing these things for me. I appreciate it.
No experience with AT&T but if they release their firmware online then you should be able to download & flash latest using ODIN.

i dont think its possible, India phone comes with 2 physical sim slots or an esim option for the second sim where as the AT&T which you and I have, comes only with single physical sim.

were you able to update your phone? I have the same model(SM-F936U/DS) and stuck with an old update and no new updates show up even though Andriod 13 has been rolled out for the Indian variants.
if there is no possibility of updating the phone then I might consider selling it! any help woud be appreciated.

There is no way I could find online to get the updates. Nothing works. The only way is to have US sim and be connected to AT&T network in US to get the update which is impossible. So I guess we are stuck with the old os version.

Hi Chirag,
Thanks for the revert. Thats a bummer that we can't do anything with the update. I can still make my peace with the slow updates but having no updates especially the security updates is very concerning.
I will keep you posted in case I happen to come across any solution to this.

Amit.

Hi Chirag,
I can confirm the method mentioned shorty9210 indeed works! I just changed the CSC to T-Mob and the updates have started flowing. Just use the samFw.com tool to change the CSC, you will get T-MOB logo once you have changed the CSC but the updates will come by. It didnt delete the data too. Couldnt be any happier!
Give it a shot!
Cheers,
Amit.

How To Guide How to Enable All Bands Through Service Menu on ALL International Snapdragon Samsung S20/S21/S22/Fold2/Fold3/Fold4+ series (including 4G LTE, 5G NR)

BackgroundPrevious methods have only worked on US and Canada phones due to the dialer code only working on US/Canada phones on U and U1 firmware, and also the presence of IOTHiddenMenu on those devices' firmware. However, thanks to @K0mraid3's successful resurrection of the System Shell exploit, the Service Menu method can now be applied to International Snapdragon phones as well.
This means, any international Samsung S20/S21/S22/Fold2/Fold3/Fold4/... with Snapdragon processors, including but not limited to G9880, G988N, G9980, S908E, F936B...
The method used in this post is to directly launch the Service Menu by invoking the Service Mode RIL directly and bypass the need for IOTHiddenMenu or equivalent dialer codes. I found this specific command by decompiling Service Mode RIL APK and tracing through its AndroidManifest and BroadcastReceiver implementation.
How to (new method)1. Download Samsung Toolkit app onto your phone
2. Follow the instructions for running the app.
3. Use the Service Menu option in the app and follow from #5 in the below instructions
How to (original)1. Obtain System Shell access on your phone by following the instructions in @K0mraid3 's System Shell Exploit thread.
2. In the newly-opened System Shell, copy and paste the following command,
Code:
am broadcast -a com.samsung.android.action.SECRET_CODE -d android_secret_code://27663368378 -n com.sec.android.RilServiceModeApp/.SecKeyStringBroadcastReceiver
Ensure the entire command is copied correctly.
3. Run the command.
4. You should now see the Service Menu appear on the phone.
5. Follow instructions for Method 2 in the original How to unlock bands thread.
6. Follow instructions for Method 1 in the original How to unlock bands thread.
7. Now all bands, both 4G LTE and 5G NR that the hardware is capable of, are unlocked.
ProofI got my hands on a Korean model S20 Ultra (G988N) which has a Snapdragon CPU. Out of the box, it ONLY supports 5G NR n78. After doing the above steps, it now supports n5, n77, n78.

BonusOn certain international phones *#0011# or *#2263# don't work the way you expect them to. But with the service menu, you can access the same exact ones as the US models through the service menu (RF Test -> Band Selection to replace 2263, and Protocol State ->Basic Information to replace 0011)
In the case of the Korean phone, 2263 did not work at all. But 0011 brought up a totally different looking screen than the US version did.
LimitationsFor Exynos models owners - sorry, you're out of luck for now. I haven't been able to find a single menu that helps unlock bands on those models. The menus that open are VERY different and limited in functionality. Unfortunately, that's just how Samsung made it.
While "Disable CA Combos" is enabled by forcing GCF, it does not overcome hardware supported CA combos. So using a US SIM on the Korean phone for example, will still refuse to engage Carrier Aggregation on US carriers' bands.
Credits@K0mraid3 for the System Shell exploit
@peacey8 / @wr3cckl3ss1 / @bigdave79 for the Band Unlocking instructions on US/CA models
Respect!
Is there a way to check the activated bands before going through all the steps?
With *#0011# on my SM-9010 (S22 SD), I can see that my phone uses n28 here.

Yes you can check the current available bands by going into the Service Menu and RF Test, Band Selection
I would love to find a way to get this to work on Exynos chips. I have the intl S21+ and while I do have a 5G band for Tmobile in USA, I just can't ever connect to it.
You Sir, might just be a legend. I've got the Japanese Olympic Edition of the S21 here and never got to use the full potential of it here in Europe because of its limited band compatibility.
All other methods I tried so far didn't work, so I was just about to sell it- when I found this thread by accident. I'll give it a shot tomorrow.
Any idea if this change is persistent or will it be reset after an update?

Thanks mate, I seemingly got it to work up to (and including) Step 5 of your description.
Just to avoid a misunderstanding: Do you suggest to go through Method 2 AND then Method 1 of the "How to unlock bands" thread or is one of them sufficient?
Edit:
Proceeded with Method 2, then 1. All Bands enabled, verified via Band selection menu.
Awesome!
Can I buy you a beer?

Any way to get *#73# back for Verzion and T-Mobile etc? Since at least the Jan 1, 2023 update, the the SamFW FRP tool, go to MTP tab and click on "Enable Secret Code for Verizon" no longer works on the S21 Ultra (SM-G998U1).
Can you PLEASE determine if this same command works on the S23U to launch the Service Menu, or what steps are needed to find out?
Now that Snapdragon is being used across all regions, I think this will be huge for US customers who want an unlocked bootloader if they can easily purchase an EU S23U and enable all bands with this method!

I see welshkiwi95 from that reddit stated he couldn't get Shizuku to work due to a VERSION_LOCKED message. For users that already have rooted their phones they wouldn't need a system level shell, wouldn't this be circumvented?

I have been able to change my carrier vanity name but it also doesn't work at the same time. Very much thinking we need a new exploit or root. Because as I said in another thread, could be a OneUI issue or a S23 series issue.
