Because it's touch wiz and I love touchwiz seriously. Plus I can pinch to zoom out with the Samsung one where as the crappy stock one u can't also the aestheics and also has split screen mode. Some people actually like oem skins don't think we all automatically love stock cuz its pure android. Yea stock is nice but it lacks features in some areas
Also not doing any modding just trying to install a simple apk but the stupid things is not letting me. Also for some reason in cwm or through rom manager its not letting me fix the permissions its says "there was a problem running the command" or something like that.. Weird

i think i know why it wasnt sticking cuz i was trying to set up both email apps stock and samsung for the same account. i flashed a new rom that had the stock samsung email and i set it up was working then cleared everything and got the stock ics working but then i couldnt set up the samsung one it did the same as my old rom where it opened and immediately just closed. im an idiot i didnt know it wouldnt let u pull emails from one account with 2 email apps . also my permissions are working again

btw the only app that was able to sync with my corporate exchange server was the stock ics mail app for samsung
Credits go to Android Police for getting this.
To install, I uninstalled the old app with titanium backup.. Then reboot and install the apk (Gmail_v4.2.apk)
There you go - pinch to zoom in Gmail!
Works perfectly for me on XXDLIB
UPDATE: Tylwith added a CWN flashable zip - attached (gmail4.2.zip)
UPDATE 2: travp624 made an inverted colours apk - attached (Gmail4.2-signed-aligned.apk)

Just a heads up, in my case (running CM9) I had to delete all gmail apks, reboot, then change permissions and copy the new apk to system/app for it to install. YMMV

sharing the apk here, AndroidPolice has gotten enough traffic out of this one
Here is how I installed this on wanam 3.7 (deodexed rom) You may have to find and delete .odex files on stock roms
(you may want to do a full backup in cwm first)
plug phone into usb cable from pc
Drag file from pc desktop to phone.
Run root explorer on phone (or a file manager with root access)
go to system/app
mount r/w
long press gmail2.apk
rename as gmail2.bak
mount r/o
now still in root explorer go to sdcard
press androidpolice_gmail2.apk and choose install from the package installer.
(Installs in data/app)
reboot phone
Enjoy pinch to zoom
If you want it in system/app find another guide

Also, make sure you check the thread, others might have pointed it out if its a bug, or if they just noticed it while using it

i tried wicked sensations didnt really care for it i tried freegs3 was ok then i tried goodness rom but i wanted to use handcent but it kept popping up a blue text message box that i couldnt figure out how to disable so i stopped using that miui has always been an amazing rom its so smooth not really sure what else to try

AOSPA (ParanoidAndroid) is pretty nice, you might wanna check that out
I've also heard that MOAR (Mother of All Roms) + Morphology is pretty good too

You can actually pull it and have it on whatever rom you're using
Download MOAR, ask what the font is called, then pull font "xxx" from /system/fonts in the MOAR.zip and dump it into the /system/fonts folder of whatever rom you're running
If you like a certain font, you can actually do this across phones, roms, whatever!

Lol its the same. All you need is some sort of root browser, the MOAR zip, and a little time
Pull the font from the /system/fonts folder in the MOAR zip and throw it in the /system/fonts folder of your MIUI rom

Here's a Sprint VVM for AOSP and TouchWiz that has Holo and White themes, I use Google Voice, let me know how it works. If you are using this on TouchWiz, take the apk out and push to system/app with a root browser. Set permissions to 0644, and reboot.

Edit; works on TW, wants to update immidiately. I think the apk can be taken out of the Zip and installed like an app to data/app. It is working if you open the zip and push to system/app too

Flash zip if you're on AOSP, push apk to system/app if on TouchWiz

Well that blows... Damn I really hate all of Sprint's apps
I hate all of them BUT this one. Google voice is so damn annoying taking over texts and mms. All the other vvm apps either look horrible or they're buggy as he77. The new version reads ".18" here's a screenie of the updated version.

Google Voice has the option to use stock messaging or Google Voice now. Plus I have two numbers I use it for, that's the main reason I use it.

Yeah I know. I just uninstalled it. Half the time the option worked to use the default messaging app. The other half, not only would Google voice take over, it would actually remove the text from the default messaging app and import it in to Google voice. So I couldn't even see my new texts in the default sms app forcing me to use Google voice. I just couldn't stand the inconvenience. But I understand your second point.

That's probably a good idea. If you're running TW you must push to system/app. I'll make a TW zip when I get around to it.
I wanted to make sure cause I have a vvm apk in the system app which I know you're aware of.. So whenever I delete apk and push the download it was a zip so was trying to make sure

Unzip and move the apk (look in there and you'll find it) to system/app and change permissions to the ones you stated above.. the zip is for AOSP. But the apk is confirmed working on both.

On the international version of the OG Pro you have the following Q-slide apps:
- Calculator
- Calendar
- Qvoice
- Memo (aka note pad)
- INTERNET BROWSER
- TV
- Videos
ATT version only has the following:
- Calculator
- Calendar
- Videos
- Note pad
Now while I could understand ATT cutting out "TV" since that's a korean thing... but why the %#&!~ would they deny us the Internet browser as a Q-slide option?

Probably to make room for their own cruddy apps. Wouldn't you be able to pull the apks and sidload them or push them to /system/app and change permissions on the Att version and have it work?

I wonder if we can take that from the international verison and add that to ours .... Can we get someone to look into it ? I know MadMack was able to remove wonder if can setup way to add that QSlide

No .. u need to download the lg optimus g pro system dump.. copy the .apk of the browser(or any missing app) and paste it in system/apps ( of course u need root access) .. that wont brick ur phone as far as i know ... if the browser doesnt work u can simply delete it.. easy **or u could simply copy it to sd card and install it normally .. should work also**

Can anyone with a rooted international version of the phone look at system/apps and check if there is the .apk of the browser ... if there isnt then it would probably be in the lgsystemui.apk

Your ebonics is hard to understand but I guess I get it now
So you downloaded a 3rd party app off the internet (instead of Google Play) to try and replicate the Q-slide browser function. While I appreciate the effort you put into it that "solution" is anything but a real solution for me.
I just hope someone can figure out how to add this needed function back into Q-slides :fingers-crossed:

So you're saying it might be how the lg systemui apk is not allowing the browser to function as a qslide?
If you haven't tried already, replace both the lgsystemui.apk and the browser apk with the ones from the international dump and see if it works then. Just rename the original .apks as .baks so you won't loose them in case. Also don't forget to change permissions.

I did the browser LG_browserJB.apk and well the browser just crashed on me..and i was comparing both versions of it.. looking for anything with floating lol ...com.lge.floating.res.apk in frameworks i also was comparing them and nothing different ...lol So was scared to do the systemUI didnt wanna brick the phone lol but i guess i can try both

Ok so i did and well completely erased the top status bar and now no drop down at all lol added the systemUI back in app folder and its not coming back ..ima try and reboot see what happens ....ok lol so rebooted got the status bar again ...

Yeah a reboot might, well essentially, reboot the systemui.
Hope you get it all back
EDIT: Hold up, did you try to reboot with the new systemui apk and fixed permissions for it? You probably had to reboot with the new ui app since you essentially force stopped the old ui and never started it up again. The permissions should be set to rw r r r or just compare it to the original apk and edit accordingly
