VZW M9 Roms - Verizon HTC One (M9)

Now that my M9 is here and shipped off to *cough* have some work done by a nice gentleman, I'm wondering a few things ...
Until our devs from the M8 like andybones and Π€O start pumping out ROMs, what ROMs will work for us.
One I have seen is Insert-Coin stating for all variants.
I also see where some kernel guys changed to a hexacore by removing two of the faster cores to reduce heat/save battery supposedly without a perceptible performance hit.
Are these types of things what we can expect ?
What are your opinions?

Just flash ViperOne and don't look back

I personally love a minimalist stock roms. That way everything works perfectly fine, no bugs, and its optimized with minor tweaks/theme options. There was a God by the name of Santod on the Verizon M7 forum that could do this. And I have heard he has the M9 =)

maybe @scrosler will show up with clean rom dont know if he is getting a M9

Another vote for ViperOne Rom

We should have a SkyDragon Vzw based ROM out for m9 in next few days. But to answer your question most sense Roms won't work with you doing a little work yourself
SkyDragon Vzw Dev HTC M9

echoing what else has been said, viperone works fine with verizon (been using it for a few weeks) m9. insertcoin supposedly supports it as well, but i cant speak from personal experience using it.
the m9 variants are all so close that its not hard with a few files from the stock rom of each device to do multivariant roms like those developers/teams are doing.
i think the international based roms are a better base than verizon stock roms anyway, but thats just my opinion

OK I installed ViperOne just to check it out. So far , so good.

For now I've settled in on Insert Coin and using the LeeDrOid custom kernel that includes the KCAL module for color calibration.

The icon is there, but it looks kinda like the data icon on the unofficial M8 roms.
It says it's activated but why I just tried it with my buddy it came up that I wasn't activated. I may not have given it enough time to provision.

i tried yesterday and i couldnt get it to activate for the life of me, i can fix the icon via vrtheme but the advanced calling is great, i need that. Is the leedroid kernel working for you, i was thinking of trying it out myself

Lee droid works fine and so does the other custom kernel in that sub-forum.
Name escaped me but it's 3 letters long. Like AOC beta or something similar.

Although I haven't activated my M9 (sending it out to @dottat for S-OFF, was planning on today but really sick so staying in bed, and will either ship tmw, or just wait til Monday so the phone doesn't sit somewhere on Sunday) but IIRC, you need to log into the MyVerizon - I'd use a PC, and activate the advanced Calling on your account.
Here is a cut and paste from the MyVerizon site:
How can I get Advanced Calling 1.0?
First, verify that you meet all of the eligibility requirements.
If you're eligible, follow these steps to get Advanced Calling 1.0:
Sign in to My Verizon.
Click Manage My Account and select Manage Products & Apps.
Click the Get Products tab at the top of the page.
Click Get it now to select the product or service you wish to purchase.
When the checkout window opens, choose the compatible devices you'd like HD Voice added to.
Click Confirm Purchase to complete the checkout process for the selected devices.
Click OK on the confirmation screen. If applicable, a free text message with a link to download the app from the App Store will be sent to the device/s you've selected.
Note: If you don't want to receive a text confirmation, uncheck the checkbox before clicking OK, and no text message will be sent.
You've successfully added Advanced Calling 1.0.

Quick heads up. No need to vrtheme it. The icon looks like that because Vzw uses their own settings.apk so you can just swap out settings.apk from none Vzw based Roms an your icon is fixed. Also ask the ROM Dev to add the Vzw settings.apk if the ROM supports Vzw.
Also I didn't have to go to my Vzw to turn on advanced calling. I activated thru my phone an phone only on all 3 of my m9's

[MOD] MIUI Extended Settings Mod

It's time for a change...I think some might like the changes others might not..
I've created an App. (it's my first one so no laughing!!!)
It contains the same options you know and love and a couple of new ones!!!
The idea of creating an App is to cut down on the number of files I have to tinker with each week. It was taking too much time. This way I only have to modify the SystemUI.apk and the Launcher2.apk and I'm done.
Those users who couldn't use this Mod because of the changes to services.jar should now be fine..
Couple of things to note..
The option to Hide the Debug Icon is missing. I'm trying to work out a way of hiding the icon without modifying services.jar
If you change the battery Top Bar you might notice a delay of a few seconds before it updates.. (Just me being Lazy)
The Auto Close feature is now standard with the Launcher so the option to enable it is no longer needed.
There are three version
ESCenter - Center Clock Version
ESSwitched - Center Clock, Notification and signal icons switched.
ESRight - Standard version with clock on the right as normal.

i strong heartedly disagree with the above poster. I'm on MIUI atm, and I get one full day of use out of my SGS, with HSDPA enabled /always connected, lots and lots of browsing, phone calls, sms, yahoo and whatsapp messenger online almost 24/7, some games, some BT transfers and some Wifi.
then again, I do know how to customize my SGS with black themes and various other settings to extend battery life...btw, no underclocking or undervolting..
no way you're gonna get the same level of polish and the same experience on Eclair..
just my 2 cents...
cheers!

I would have to also tell you, yea there is...
Just because there are people like yourself who extremly are satisfied with it and consider it a top rom, doesn't mean everyone see it in the same light.
I stuck with MIUI with every version from 3 to the latest 5.3, it was my first ever custom rom, and as much as I wanted to like it I finnaly decided to give up on it for the foreseeable future. Even for someone who tried to like it was biased toward it it is more a gimmick rom for entertainment, than proper sgs rom you'd consider serious. Even tried to get my friends on it while I was on it, everyone hated it.
In my opinion it has great potential, but its still in its infancy. It is way to rough and misguided to be a good solid rom. Even going to a base 2.2 rom just rooted and lagfixed beats MIUI in almost every aspect. I finnaly don't feel like breaking my phone again. Almost every aspect of MIUI is different, which is where the appeal comes from, but somehow the difference is rarely for the better and it manages never to be as good even an original rom in terms of usability. At the moment I would consider it the poorest choice out of the the popular roms.
Since you will probably ask, the biggest downfalls off the top of my head I had with MIUI is unrelenting and completely unsolvable battery drain issues. This alone makes the rom not worth taking seriously. Calendar, the way you set your alarm, messaging, contacts etc, having to press double or more buttons to get to particular areas the stock phone does in 1, little things like that.
Laggy menus is another one.
I dont even want to get into how bad this rom is with the camera. Horrendeus software, menus etc, recording upside down, and on top of that it completely incapacitated the video recording of the phone. VErsion 5.3 and the videos still record at 3fps and the frames jump back and forward every 2 seconds as well...
heres miui on a good day for you.

Adding an extra option isn't that difficult. Getting that extra option to do what it's supposed to do is the tricky bit!!! )
If Galnet has managed to work out how to implement this feature I'm sure he's more than capable of adding an option to the settings menu but having said that I'm more than happy to help out if needed..

I guess a "feet on the ground" option would be waiting for the official MIUI devs to support TV-out in future releases. Mind MIUI is still beta.

[MOD] - Enhanced Quick Settings with Battery bar for One V - New 17.06.2012

Hey Guys,
Here I present an EQS-Mod (Enhanced Quick Settings) for One V. I used the EQS-Mod of j4n87 on One X as a base. I removed a lot of code that was meant for compliance with his pokemon-rom and his tweaks app. Then I added the MIUI-battery bar of pvyParts.
I also removed the options for vibrate/silent because they are already in my APM-Mod here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=27145164#post27145164.
It offers some often used settings on a click on the provider text in pulled down statusbar.
To switch on/off and edit the settings of MIUI-batterybar, use the battery-bar app in apptray. (There are still some settings, like animation, that don't work yet. I will update this mod with new versions as soon as there are some. Look into his thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19878267 for more info)
Thanks to:
j4n87 for the great base code and the permission to use it for this one
pvyParts for the MIUI-bar
ckpv5 for many hours of testing .
Changelog:
17.06.12: Initial release
Important:
This mod is for deodexed roms of base 1.56. Please do NOT use with any other base (could work, need not) or stock rom (will end in bootloop).
Do not use any other mods that modify systemUI.apk or the two would eliminate each other which could lead unwanted effects.
Please make nandroid before flashing.
Flash in recovery.

No, sorry. You would have to decompile it and edit the source directly. I really shy away from the work to write an app for that.
The one thing I noticed is that I can't see my apps when I pull down the notification bar so like I can't quickly open up my messages from the notification bar now I have to find the app and open it there, fix plz lol only issue I'm having tho great job

It surely can't be flashed on rezound as it is. You would have to completely port it. As I don't know the rezound rom, I don't know how big the differences are.

Alright folks, here's another update... 4.3 is officially merged!! I just did the last part of it and caught with CyanogenMod as far as frameworks goes.

Of course there's loads of things to iron out, but the overwhelming part of merging 4.3 is now behind us!
I'm still not going to promise an ETA, but I will be doing what I can to get everything functioning the way it needs to be. Thanks peeps for remaining patient through a busy part of my life recently. There's quite a bit in store for 2.5. I may even release a alpha version of 2.5 so you guys can get your hands on a 4.3 build with all the cool nifty features and such :victory:.

Same here. Just tried illusion for the first time. Took me a bit to find the right kernel to get it to boot with WiFi and signal, as well as recovery and root. I used the boot.IMG from championswimmers latest aokp. Now everything is working great, and battery life is amaaazing. The problem I have is no auto rotate, and I'm a YouTube JUNKIE, so this tiny screen business is killin me!! Lol. But I'm really liking this key lime pie look, and the transition animations look super slick.
Sent from my C6503 using Tapatalk 4
Get an app that lets you switch between orientations as a temp workaround, hopefully this gets fixed in the next version. And thanks for figuring out the kernel, I've been thinking about trying to find one that works when lo and behold someone's already done it!
The only thing I wish would get fixed right away is the inaccuracy of the battery meter, I find that if I reboot with a significant portion of the battery used then it reports the level as being higher than it actually is(50% goes up to 70% or so) which has lead to me running out of battery a few times. I believe this has been fixed in recent CM builds if I remember correctly.
:banghead: duuhh.... lol. I never even thought about an app to control rotation. I just figured if it didn't work, it didn't work. Thanks for the tip. Found an app in no time.

[Q] Any reason NOT to put CM on my E4GT?

So I went over and read the issues on CM.org and found MHL, dock audio, and JB modems don't work with any newer version of CM. MHL and dock audio don't worry me but the lack of JB modems does. I'm on a rooted stock ROM right now and the only complaint I have is poor battery life. I won't even get a full work day from my phone without charging in the car or at my desk at work.
Is it worth installing Cyanogenmod on my phone despite the shortcomings?

Legacy voice mail flags do not work on CM if you need that support.
And the speaker sound is horrid... Really depends on your preferences. I love loud sound, so I stick with TouchWiz.

Oh, right. I forgot about that. And the annoying text message I'd get after each VM comes in. Maybe I'll stick to stock with a custom launcher then.

If you want to stay stock/rooted....you need to put greenify and maybe DS battery saver on you're device... this should help with the battery drain... also look into any wake locks that might be contributing to the drain.
After doing this... if you would like to get even better battery life, as well as great sound... I suggest flashing project x... it's tw based and unbreakable, IMO. It's my daily driver, when not testing roms for somebody.
Let me know if you want to flash it and I can walk you through it... that way you get a smooth, clean install
Good luck and have a nice day..

I've gotten well over 24 hours on Project X with 4+ hours screen on time.
Damn really ? How because i used project x and only got about 8
---------- Post added at 10:49 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:45 AM ----------
Well I can't use it now because my phone won't except any jb roms
+1 on what Ryan said... I get the best battery by far on project x.
I'll hunt up some screenies I took..
If you notice.. I had airplane mode on. The reason for this was because I was getting bad service at my new job. So I would put it into airplane mode when I didn't need to use it... on average, about 3 hours on a normal work day.

Sprint doesn't use a text message to notify the visual voice mail anymore? I know on my Evo Shift it did.

I never said anything about visual voice mail. I said the CM didn't work with the legacy voice mail flag.

[ ROM | NIE | Beta | Semper FI ]

Welcome all to my DEODEXed Version of SEMPER FI. Semper Fi, Latin for Semper Fidelis, which means always faithful. This is the motto of the US Marines, which I was a part of and I hope to do our motto justice with this ROM.
I want to apologize to you guys as I know it's been a while since I have updated the ROM. I have some personal issues need my attention, and I can work on this ROM when I have free time. With that said, my teammate the well known Sleshepic helped me a great deal with this batch of updates and mods. I have had this on my phone for the last two weeks and it's very stable. So Kudos goes to Slesh for his help.
This is version BETAV 1.7, and ROM is pretty much done. As time goes on I will try to add more mods, and will try to squash any bugs I can. I will also, with the help of my friends, theme this ROM. I will do my best, and all I ask is that bare with me on this journey as I am coming from the Note 2 and there is a big difference between the two phones, so let's keep this thread civil and let's help one another not bash one another.
I was able to get the wifi hotspot working without any changes to your Mobile Networks. Thanks to Slesh for the help on that one. I also switched over to deodexed just because I'm testing things out and I find deodexed is much easier for me to do the things I want. Updates will come slowly but surely, I have some personal matters that I do need to address, but I will continue to work on this project. Also, I have left the ROM fully bloated and some of you may of asked why. Well everyone has their own preference on what they want in a ROM, and since it has gotten so much easier to remove apps on your own, I will leave it to you to choose what Sprint and Samsung apps you wish to have on your device. I will however, add mods, and theme this ROM the way I would like. I do hope you enjoy.

It shows the wifi hot spot under BUGS. Does that mean it doesn't work?

No I'm still trying to figure out how to get the wifi hot spot working. The bluetooth and usb tethering seems to work but not the wifi.
Great. Thank you! I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with this ROM. I use my hotspot pretty often so I will wait til that is fixed.
Whatever galaxy tools does to the hotspot, that works . Try going into your network settings and changing the mode to or from automatic. Different modes have worked for different people i think but for the sake of testing check that out. I had to change mine to get the WiFi Hotspot working

Do you have wifi tethering working for you right now with this ROM?
I'm on the stock rom at the moment. Just saying that might be something worth looking into. Sometimes we overlook the simple stuff. I am almost home, i will install your rom and tinker a bit when i get home
yes, i now have a working native hotspot on your rom, by installing sprint galaxy tools for root user and enabling the hotspot, then setting my network mode to automatic under more networks -> mobile networks.
like i said, it's probably worth looking into. whatever it's changing is what you need to change.
EDIT: i fell asleep when i got home yesterday thats why it took so long. i will leave your rom installed and test for you. let you know if anything pops up.
I have some personal things going on but I am looking into the wifi Hotspot and will do some testing tomorrow. Thanks for your input.
