No, phone does not turn on at all. No Soft or hard reboot. (voldown, home, power button) is like a dead phone. i already order a replacement but wishing this would turn back on since it was perfect in everything else.

Ok, just for the heck of it, try plugging the phone in with the oem charger for a few hours and see if anything changes..

was the phone rooted ? or just completely stock ? from the looks of it best thing is getting a replacement this is defective they should replace it for free

The phone was stock, not rooted.
This is my second replacement now, i had something like this happened on my first phone. It would freeze and go black while using spotify. This happened to this phone while using spotify connected by bluetooth to my car and it went completly dead. Not saying that spotify is the reason but is weird both phone happened in the same situation (first one didnt died but would freeze and not work until a hard reboot). My first phone was replace because of the hairline scratches from factory and dead pixels. Now this one completly died, i never had a phone died (i have own like 15 flaship phones) lets see how the new replacement works out.

Are you using the same charger for both phones?

Phone doesn't turn on (100% factory)

Hello, I've been lurking around this forum for awhile and this is my 1st post! I've used the search feature and many other websites for my problems but cannot find anything similar =[.
My phone is 100% factory and the battery energy was around 80% at the time of incident, what happened was I received a text message but didn't check up on my phone till 30minutes later where then I pressed the home button to turn the screen on but the screen didnt power on but the phone's audible volume was working and the other 2 keys next to the home button lit up. I could click around my phone and function everything properly with no visual image to the screen (I even started my music player). I got frustrated so I attempted to soft reset it multiple ways and problem still persisted, I then decided to leave the battery out overnight to see if it would fix things, I did so and the same problem persisted, so I decided to plug it into the original usb wall charger and when I did i left the room, came back 10 minutes later tried turning it on and it doesn't even power up any more. Anyone have any ideas? The phone doesn't even turn on while plugged into the wall charger. (I do remember something about a phone update on my notifications list)
I had dropped the phone 2 months ago and the screen cracked but functioned normally and I'm afraid that I will not be able to claim warranty because they will blame the cracks.
Factory reset the device by booting into recovery.
If the screen will not function in recovery mode, or after boot. ...it's not good.
The digitizer may be toast. ..g

sounds like the drop has caught up to the device. as the post above if it doesnt work in recovery the digitizer is TOAST
why would the digitizer be toast if it logged my screen touches while the screen went dead before not being able to power on? I cannot get into recovery mode mode because the phone will not even turn on =[.
bump... can anyone help?
Sounds like the phone is gone if it won't even show charging or any kind of screen. Is there any flicker or anything?

I don't think they will, you're probably gonna have to eat this one.

Agreed. ..
You could try. ..but they will likely reject warranty and offer a repair. ..
Or offer a refurbished device at a reduced price. ..imho...g
If u bought warranty you can eat the cost of deductible. They have open enrollment til May 30th I think. I am not sure what the requirements are.

Battery dead or Phone dead????

So my friend started charging her phone, and an hour later when she checked, it was turned off, and extremely hot. We haven't been able to turn it back on since then, it doesn't do anything, take battery out, put it back in, tried home + power + volume with battery, and without just straight with charger and nothing. What do you guys think it might have happened? I don't want to think her phone is done for lol.

Does the battery look messed up? Does it have a bump or something on it?
Also, worst case scenario, if she's stock.. send it to Samsung.
Maybe somehow either the phone fried or your battery did... He mightve left something open that was running on the background and it mightve got it hot... Thats what happened to me... But it didn't do that.. I quit wtever was running on the background, let it cool off and started charging it... So yea

Nope, nothing on the battery, checked everything, we might have to send it to Samsung, faulty phone? Maybe, phone was working perfect (she bought it in March) up until last night.

A tricky issue
I'm having a slightly different problem..
till last night the Phone was OK..was charging..in the morning I found it dead..well turned off I would say..
I came to office put it on charging..
a battery appears in the middle of the screen with a circle inside it (as usual). After that a battery with about 5% juice (Green Liquid) shows up in the middle of the screen (again, as usual) and has 5 points underneath it..which animate from grey to white, and left to right (again, as usual)
but the thing is, the phone doesn't seem to charge and is not powering up.. I even tried the recovery mode and download mode but simply wont power up.
might as well mean that the battery is fried..just wanted to ask you guys if I am correct.
Im using Xperi-z-ied rom

Screen Replacement issues

I recently had a buddy get a screen replace from a place in the mall. The phone display and everything works, but one problem after all of that. It will not stay on and keeps bootlooping ect.... I did a factory reset and still no luck another weird thing is, when it is plugged in the battery will go from 80% down to barely nothing then quickly charges back up. The phone somewhat seems to stay on when it is plugged in. The phone started having these problems when the screen was replaced. Im confused. please help! Thanks!
sure its simple

First thing first do a hard factory reset with the volume down and power button, not work then flash with lg flash tool the model numbers kdz all downloads and guides are posted. let it fully boot power down then fully charge, power up and down several times so the data files understand the new digitizer and resets all problems. Still dont work find screen replacement video via youtube once there whatch how to disassemble cause I am pretty sure it is one of the data cables or connections that is loose but you can never know with software and those are easier to do and less chance of permanent damage.
Or you can mail it to me and I fix her right up lol

[Q] Flashed ROM, worked perfectly, won't turn on now

So I ended up flashing CM12 located in one of the other threads to play around with 5.0. It worked perfectly, no problems to be found or anything. However at one point, I went to grab it and play a game, the screen refused to turn on. I tried the Power + Vol. up trick and it still didn't do anything. Concerned (as I was toying around with a resolution app to pump it to 1600x900 res) I continued to try to force reboot it, and tried the Power + Vol. down trick to get into recovery. I plugged it into my computer to see if I can use ADB to force it to reboot and I get an error: no device found. So now I'm stuck waiting for the power to drain completely but it's been close to 24 hours and it still doesnt work. However my computer dings immediately as soon as I plug it in so it sounds like it's still alive (however there's no charging light on). How boned am I? Anything else I can try?

I think there are 2 other cases exactly like yours, that makes me not want to use CM12.
Wait for the device to die, then try if adb recognizes it, or if you can get into recovery.

ok, I'll continue waiting, thanks for the info. I'll go ahead and flash CM11 and use that for awhile until HTC pushes their 5.0 out or if problems are fixed. Hopefully it won't take too much longer for the device to die...
2 days later, nothing, opened it up and removed the battery (was surprisingly a joke to do it too), plugged it back in, again nothing, plugged it into PC and the usual ding can be heard from the PC (But no charging light). Guess it's dead. If anyone else figures anything out, feel free to lemme know, back to the old broken screen Reverb for now.

Unplug the battery, and then plug the phone into the charger with the battery out. Then after 10-15 minutes, plug the battery back in without unplugging the phone. Then just let the phone charge for a few hours. That has worked for me on other phones several times.

Unfortunately it didn't work, literally nothing changed. Slight ringing noise from under the heatsink though when plugged in. Guessing it's fubar?

If theres still no charging lite? Possibly. You could try to charge the battery with a split charger. However thats last resort and can break your battery if it doesn't work.

Or you could use your manufacturers warranty and send that baby back in for a fresh one. Claim a defect... Why? Because it is a defect. If you can't get it to boot with adb / rooted methods then their stock methods won't work nor detect anything. Besides, the worse they'll do is send your phone back the same way it got to them.
Also, if the others who ran into this issue could give feedback on if they modified screen resolution before the device kicked on CM12 that would be most informative.

a bit of a necro, but a headup/final question.
Amazon gave me a full refund (took awhile) and getting a new Desire. However I'm wondering if anyone else has encountered this issue? I REALLY want to keep using Android 5.0 but I'm slightly worried about if it was just bad luck with 5.0, an actual issue with 5.0, or me screwing it up myself with changing my resolution (I don't think I even touched my DPI)(Virgin Mobile US Desire 816).

A ROM can't fry your phone like this, so you have nothing to worry about. The issue with your last phone wasn't because of CM12.

So either I screwed something up or it was a screwed up phone in the first place (I'm inclined to believe this as it was frequently getting into a locked state where I'd have to force reboot it via the vol/power buttons). Guess I'll go for it, thanks!

Verizon G4 crashed

My G4 seemed to be running hot yesterday and I had to charge it several times more than normal. All of a sudden it shut down would not boot back up. I tried everything but it will not go in to recovery or download mode. No lights come on at all when charger is connected either. One time I was able to get the MEIE number to flash and it said press power to reboot before it blanked out again. I called Verizon and they said it sounded like a complete system/software crash. I am rooted but haven't made any changes to my phone in several weeks. Verizon overnighted a replacement to me and it should be at my house when I get home. I wonder if this is the same issue that has been happening to the Sprint version that was recalled? Possibly the phone was just mad at me because it happened an hour after I ordered my Nexus 6p......lol
Now that it's cooled off can you boot it up?
I would think you could have just rebooted it when you first noticed it was hot.

No it still doesn't boot up. I can get to the LG screen for maybe a second and it shuts back down. When I first noticed that it was hot I could reboot it. I let it cool off before restarting it but the problem persisted. What ever was causing it to overheat was also draining the battery. I had to charge the phone up twice by 2:00 pm. My "certified like new replacement" arrived on Friday and initially everything was good. On Saturday the Wifi disconnected and would not turn back on. The icon just sits there and blinks at me. If I go in the settings menu it is grayed out and doesn't give me the option to turn it on. I just got off the phone with Verizon and they are sending me another G4. Hopefully I will have better luck with this one. I would like to have a working phone that I can sell when my Nexus 6p arrives.
Sorry this is totally off topic but, did you have to pay a deductible to get a new phone?

No I didn't. It was Warranty replacement so it didn't have to go through insurance.
I had a similar issue last week, no root, running 12a. Phone shut itself off during normal usage (checking football scores). Running a little hot so let cool. Never booted past Verizon splash screen. Tried fresh battery, factory reset, safe mode. Nothing. Got my "certified like new" model. So far so good, but 6P here I come.
Sent from my VS986 using Tapatalk
Hmmm well good timing if you ordered a Nexus 6P. You can sell it like new.
Haha I was just watching "The Nexus 6P will bend in half if you try to bend it in half" video. I'd be interested in a size comparison between the 2.
So this exact thing happened to me, just several days after I got it (same thing, also rooted, nothing much done to the phone).
I had figured the battery ran dead (because I knew it was low), but it just wouldn't power on. Chargers wouldn't light it up. I put it on the charger for hours, and nothing happened. Lost all hope.
Then, randomly, I decided to see if Download Mode would work on my phone. I don't know why I tried it.
I pulled battery, and put it back. I held on Volume (up?) on the phone, and plugged it into the computer.
OH MY GOD -- IT CAME TO LIFE -- ! DOWNLOAD MODE!
I shut it down from download mode, then turned it back on (I think a battery pull) and it worked again.
I was completely relieved.
This happened to me a second time, weeks later.
The same solution worked.
I hope that this helps someone.
TL;DR: Try Download Mode (pull battery and put it back in -- then, while holding the volume Up key on the phone, plug USB into your computer)
