[Q] root help? - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i just got the lg g3 d855 running android 5.0 kernel 3.4.0 build number lrx21r.a1430824138
software version v20g-SEA-XX
tried the purple drake root tool, the lg one click root v1.3 and none worked. they all say that it was done successfully, but when phone reboots, i don't have busybox or supersu. downloaded root checker from playstore, says that root is not found. tried to install supersu from playstore and then root but says su binary weren't found.
can someone advise please?
thank you in advance
p.s: i don't want to downgrade to kitkat. and i don't think am gonna need a custom recovery cause i saw that's a hastle. i basically need the root for lucky patcher, greenify and the such.

In the same situation as you with the same software version, have tried every possible root script/one click method out there and none work. Came across kingroot which is supposed to work but i don't trust it

why not? could it brick the device? no feedback about it?
update: just tried it. didn't work

Ahhhh damn! Reason I didn't try it was because people were saying that they weren't sure if it rooted the phone in a tidy way and also weren't sure if it was sending personal info to the app makers...looks like we will have to wait for now eh!

so can you advise on what to do to get root on my software version? i tried it all and nothing seems to work. reminds me of my first android device (htc chacha) that had me trying for 3months before i got it to work. my nexus 4 was 2 commands and woop. and now this

there are threads in these forums that tell you how to, and te reason htc took so long is because of s-on/s-off

no kidding!! seriously? maybe you haven't read that i tried all methods discussed and none worked? and i know that it was the s-0n s-off for the htc. i was just trying to show the difference between my nexus and the other devices i owned. that it's not as easy.
thanks for the reply

How odd! I was having the same issue as you and tried every single tool out there about 5 times each on Windows 7 and nothing worked! I then decided to try on a Windows 10 machine using the following root script:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/guide-root-lg-firmwares-kitkat-lollipop-t3056951
And all worked fine!!! Rooted right away...so I suggest you try creating a Windows 10 Virtual Machine and give that a go

confirmed sheppy?

I tried the VM, but when I had put the phone in download mode, the adb didn´t find the device. Any tip??

did you install the lg drivers? try uninstall then reinstall and see if that works. did you enable the developer mode?
am just throwing all possibilities. sometimes one just dismisses one in the moment

I just uninstalll the drives, reinstall and nothinhg. And yes, developer mode and debugging turned on!

I'd love to find a solution for this... pretty annoying that every variant and version supports root besides V20G..

hoping someone comes along, reads this and tells us about a solution...

How could you install the driver in win10 inside VM. Can detect my device but couldnt install the driver...

Tried VM with WIndows 10, No dice
So like you all been endlessly trying to root V20g-sea.
I took the advise given and installed virtual box put windows 10 on it and go through all the methods again. SAME problem all scripts work without a hitch, phone restarts and NO SU installed and NO ROOT.
Someone please find a solution I beg of you. I have read through 100's of pages of comments and still no solution

Not to take anything away from the OP
But there is a much easier way to do this I've been using since I rooted.
Download: hide my root from the market
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.amphoras.hidemyroot
And simply hide the root when you need to. Works for any app you'd want to temporary excuse root from your system for.

You can do this with SuperSU to enable/disable root and allow root access to apps all in one.
Market Link:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...51bGwsMSwxLDMsImV1LmNoYWluZmlyZS5zdXBlcnN1Il0.
XDA Thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1538053
Simpler solution.Just go in your /system/app folder and rename Superuser.apk to any other name. You will still have your root but app that perform check wont be able to tell.
This works for Time Warner app,it wont let you watch live tv if youre rooted. After you rename your superuser.apk you will be able to watch live tv.Im sure it works for other apps too.
Renaming the superuser.apk worked for me! Thx :good:
But I wonder if there is any app out there which can do it automatically ...
I have tried these apps, but without success
Hide my Root (by Amphoras)
htt___ps://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.amphoras.hidemyroot
Temp Root Remover JB+ (by ZachsAndroidApp)
htt___ps://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zachspong.temprootremovejb&feature=more_from_developer#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEwMiwiY29tLnphY2hzcG9uZy50ZW1wcm9vdHJlbW92ZWpiIl0
Both have been proven to not rename the Superuser.apk.
So Whatchever has still recognized the root.
I have forgotten to mention that I am using Android 4.1.2 (Stock ROM).
I use Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper, works great. One click root bypass and one click to restore.
I tried this app, but my root is still detected :/
When I browse to /system/app/ the superuser.apk is still there and not renamed or s.th. ...
EDIT:
I found this script here, it works like a charm THANKS!!!

Downloaded Hide My Root from the Play Store. Installed, followed instructions, and worked like a charm. Android Pay now works on my rooted Nexus 6. To steal from McD's, Lovin' it!!

Hello.
I am a proud owner of the samsung galaxy fame (GT-S6810P) but as you can guess, i wanted to root this thing.
I have been searching the web for ages to find information on how to root my Galaxy Fame without succes, i could only find tutorials/information on how to update my device.
I also tryed several times to root my device with Superoneclick, again without succes. I also tryed to root with odin with Chainfire, but i couldn't find the right kernel.
Can someone please help me with rooting my device?

I don´t own this device, but maybe i will buy it tomorrow. And I found a firmware upgrade that should be a rooted rom (written under the point "Important note:").

I tried this method for my Galaxy Fame (which already had Android 4.1.2, but I would have liked it rooted). The steps worked and did just like explained in the thread, but there is still no root access, no SU nor CWM
Has anyone found another method yet?
I'm also interested in rooting my Galaxy Fame.
Any news will be greatly appreciated!
I was going to try that method, but it seemed that the only way to do the required backups was to already have root access.
Hope we can find an easy method soon, I really need to set up a samba share on the phone.
Ive just brought this phone for my Mrs, I have the HTC One SV, and after looking around the Samsung Galaxy Fame I think you guys currently have the same problem as us HTC guys have, the answer believe it or not is Jelly Bean itself, no one knows how to hack the ewer HBOOT that comes attached to the latest version of Android, sorry to disappoint, we all just got sit back and wait.
I had success rooting the fame with "Motochopper" (sorry not able to link to it, but a search on this forum will find it) it's a Samsung G4 exploit but it is the only one I've also found works on the fame and I've tried quite a few
Root works with "Motochopper"!! Finally
Yes, I also confirm that it works getting root with Motochopper :victory:
Confirmed working with motochopper!
but we need a custom rom... any developers? ty

Hi @ all
System apps like this Cineese SU App can be uninstalled with "root App Deleter".Found on market. You need root permissions too.
just install super su and update the binaries.. them it will promp to unistall the other ones.. it worked for me..
It works, but I have a small issue: I can't remove the Superuser application the rooting kit provides. I install SuperSu, it prompts me to update the binaries, I do, and it tells me "installation successful", but it doesn't ask me to remove the other superuser applications. So I am stuck with the Chinese/Korean Superuser application. Any thoughts on this?

[Q] Is it possible to remove "Activation" dialog at startup?

I am using the device ONLY as a gaming device and have no plans to activate it through Verizon, however, everytime I turn it on, it asks me to activate on the network. I can simply close this and avoid it, but I would prefer to remove this entirely if possible. I tried to root the phone but no matter what rooting tool I use, it fails. Every time.
Can I please get some help? I am more of a Windows Phone person so I don't know much about Android rooting and modding.

If I recall correctly, the Verizon versions of the R800 (Might be the R800x) are somewhat locked down so I doubt you can do much at all 'easily' to be honest.
At the very least, without ROOT access you'll be unable to write to the SYSTEM partition which is what you will likely need to get access to in order to remove the activation message - it'll likely be an application that simply needs deleting. You can definitely get ROOT access on the R800x's though, I think it requires flashing different firmware using flashtool.
I would however stress to not let this particular device put a 'downer' on Android devices for you as a whole - there are only a small few devices locked down like this and the rest of the R800's aren't as restricted. You need an R800i lol.
I've tried to hunt down info to no avail on rooting this model. Every root too I've used has shown no results. The device does not change.

You can definitely root the R800x on 2.3.4. I've done it on 3 phones.
I posted this thread a while back to inform others of an easy root method using the Cydia Impactor Root tool .... ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=55573098 ). You won't see any visible changes after running the root tool (other than seeing su binary placed in system/xbin folder after rooting), but you can install Supersu to manage root applications after you inject the root with Cydia.
You may need to install an older version of Supersu after running Cydia Impactor Root, as I have not tested the newest version of Supersu from the Play Store. You can grab an older Supersu apk from here: ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=53636923&postcount=2 ) which I believe would work if the newest Supersu doesn't work. ( Thanks goes to XDA member DocHoliday77 for the supersu apk and of course to Chainfire).
After you gain root, then check out post #7 in this thread ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=55290171 ) to see how to easily install CWM / Clockwork Mod Recovery.
.... (FYI, there's actually another root method called Eroot that also works on the R800x on 2.3.4 and 2.3.3....it's discussed in the same thread above where I said to see how to install CWM .... but I prefer Cydia Impactor method instead).

Sorry, I had to.
So, I turned this phone on after about a year since this last post and I decided to give it another go. Finally got it using the Cydia Impact method. BusyBox refuses to work but file browsers are allowing root access to delete the bloatware apps so thats good. Thanks for the help!

About
The WinDroid Toolkit is a Windows program built in Visual Studio using the C# programming language that simplifies the rooting process for many Android devices. The toolkit makes it easy to unlock your bootloader, flash a custom recovery and gain permanent root. It also includes other functions such as flashing kernels, pushing files and installing apps. If you find it helpful, give me a thanks and a donation if you can. If you find a bug or have a feature request, feel free to leave a reply. Thanks!

Return to stock would be a great idea.
Like the look of this. Anyone try it yet? (Other than the developer)
EDIT: Also, return to stock would be awesome!

Guys, do NOT use this software without few things first:
-we have not seen source code of this, noone knows what it actually does to your watch
-this software is NOT made for huawei watch, this guy just made few buttons call some adb functions, however they are not customized for hwatch. Any of that can easily hardbrick your watch as far as we know.
Also this mass advertisement is really stupid. Post reported.

You can see the source code here, and the unlock command, as well as the rooting command, is the same for all smartwatches. The TWRP comes from this post, so it's completely safe. Please confirm things before you post.

I should confirm things before posting? YOU should confirm that while I have hwatch connected I can press any combination of buttons in your ADB wrapper and nothing bad happens. What about supersu? The option is there, have you tested it with hwatch? Please confirm things before you post.

Nothing bad can happen to a device that's not within the user's control. There are many checks in place to prevent errors, and the TWRP and SuperSU are specific to the HWatch. While I haven't personally tested them, I've confirmed that many users on the forum used that method to root their HWatch, so I implemented that into the toolkit. Go ahead and click any combination of buttons you want.
what's up with when I download this tool I get "Cannot save due to insufficient permissions. Please save to another location"

Exactly THIS is what such a bulkly distributed tools gets to.
Just dont use this crap app noone really tested before publishing. Go for skin's kernel or anything other that has been proven to work, not just published to get likes/thanks.

Glad it worked out for ya. Just received my beautiful Huawei watch and will be checking out unlocking it...
i agree with most people.. would love it if we could have a "return to stock" option that would relock-bootloader in process and remove twrp and supersu just make it go back to complete stock heh just dreaming i think
WinDroid Toolkit v3.0 Is Now Out!
WinDroid Toolkit v3.0 has been released! It's a huge update with a material redesign, major recode and support for 43 new devices!
You can out more specific changes in the changelog here.
You can download the new update here.
All versions before v3.0 will not have their files updated anymore since I've moved from hosting on BasketBuild to Amazon S3. Please update to v3.0 to ensure you're getting the latest recovery and root files!
still working same as 2.6 nothing is wrong only wishing for the back to stock option would be cool and give it like a click twice or 3 times warnings about "you sure you wanna do it? there's no goin back!"
