[Help] Nandroid Backup - Galaxy S 4 Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I need someone who has done nandroid backup for GT-I9190 running on stock rom (4.4.2). One of my friends has not computer and he wants to flash stock rom via cwm. If someone has nandroid backup and upload for me, I will really appreciate that. Thank you

Nobody will post an nandroid backup because it contains all personal data, IMEI, contacts, messages and so on.

I remember that there is a EFS option in TWRP. If you don't check EFS option, it will not backup EFS.

EFS Disaster and Safe Saves

Hi everyone,
I recently lost my phone due to EFS problems, from flashing roms, and I had no backup.
I have a new phone and want to make sure that never happens again!
So can anyone confirm whether this precautions will save me if this ever happens again.
1.In Twrp if I do a backup of a rom AND the EFS will this restore it all to normal if the EFS gets messed up?
2. I have made a backup with EFS backup from these forums, and this seems pretty secure. The backup seems to be saved on my PC.If the EFS messes up would a simple restore from this program resolve the issue, and is it better than or as good as Twrp?
I have alot of faith in the backup program to save me, but would be very interested to know if twrp alone is good enough.
Thanks for any knowledgeable replies to this problem.:good:

With note2toolkit v3 you have the option to backup efs to zip and tar for easy restore.
V4.1 does not have that option.only via twrp

[Q] Bit of a noob question regarding backups and switching ROMs

I just want to confirm this and it might be a foolish question... But if I'm using AOKP and I have a CM10.1 backup, can I do a restore to that backup and it will restore to that ROM as well? Or do I need to re-flash CM10.1 before restoring the backup?
Thanks, still figuring all this out!
The backup contains everything of the rom. Apps/contacts...you name it. Make sure when you are coming from another rom back to the backup to flash the boot.img from the backup !

Thanks for the quick answer! It actually looks like CWM automatically does the boot.img as well! At least for AOKP back to CM10.1...
Thanks again!
A nandroid backup contains all ! ,the recovery at the time of backing up. Even the boot.img. restoring a nandroid backup wont restore the boot img. It needs to be flashed manually

[Q] About EFS Backup

Hi Friends,
i have a noob question about the EFS backup. So far i understand is the backup on 4.1.2 not compatible with 4.3 (new bootloader) b'coz it has a different folder path. What me makes scare is, i've read some posts from some users that they have no imei after official uptade with odin.
Why do i ask? I want to backup efs and flash the pre-rooted 4.3 rom without new bootloader b'coz i feel safer and the efs backup will work. But in my mind is to test the new 4.3 with new bootloader and knox (i know its not easy to get 4.1.2 back)
Is it really risky o are there some newbies wich makes mistakes? Can i paste the old backuped EFS folder in to the new path for correct imei?
I really searched on the forum also except XDA, but there are similar questions with different answers.
Thanks to all
I think that if you are worried about restoring, you should do a full nandroid backup to SD card from recovery. That way you don't need separate EFS backup as it is included in nandroid backup, so you can restore whole phone exactly as it was before.

1. Is EFS backup really included in CWMR or Philz Recovery?
2. Can i get back to 4.1.2 from 4.3 (new bootloader) only with an older NAND backup?

1. I don't think so. In Philz, efs backup option can be found in Custom Backup menu
Check this thread out for backing up EFS http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2389426
2. I did restore my 4.1.2 nandroid backup after flashed DN3 rom. It worked. But do efs backup for just in case.

Needed xt1710-08 EFS to restore IMEI

After a problem with my computer I lost the backup made with twrp, and I need to flash back EFS to the z2 after a few test I made. Can someone send me a EFS backup? Tried to restore it with LineageOS but no luck, I keep getting IMEI 0.

Can't you just back it up and restore in twrp?
I read somewhere that they discouraged the TWRP backup method for efs, but maybe that information was outdated or device specific.
Thanks for your answer, i will backup with TWRP.

I've never had an issue with it in the past. I'll read up further for you and update shortly.
Edit:
Useful information: https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g5s-plus/help/difference-efs-persist-partition-t3832892
Basically, backup your EFS and Persist. I checked my Persist and it's 0mb, but I read it's only 300-400 kilobytes so that explains the 0mb I assume. Persist is the map needed to reconstruct your EFS backup apparently. Not sure if latest TWRP has it, but OrangeFox recovery (which I'm currently on) has it. I highly recommend OrangeFox recovery to anyone wanting a nicer/cleaner recovery with more features.
