It's bad as it seems. The average is 3-4 SOT wich is really bad..

Any comment from anyone with the unit on hand?

Thats what I'm waiting on right now before pre-ordering this phone.
The things that you have to consider is
1) Is GPS enabled?
2) Screen set to auto brightness or always on 100%?
3) On LTE mostly or WiFi?

So far the battery has been fine for me. It seems likely that for the average user charging once a day should be enough.
Anything specific you would like to see tried?

When charging while doing nothing it takes 2 hours to charge the phone. When charging the phone and using it like browsing it takes 4 to 6 hours to charge to full
Is this normal or do i have a faulty device?
On my Note 4 and Galaxy s6 and Nexus 6 it takes 20 minutes max extra to charge to full while using the phone

[Q] How good is your Galaxy nexus's battery under "intensive" use?

Hi everyone!
After playing a few days with my new Galaxy Nexus, I was quite disappointed with the battery life of my device. It hardly survives a day.
I did a test today, trying to use the device more "intensively" by surfing quite a lot. The screen backlight was on automatic, bluetooth off, sync on, wifi on (although on 2G/3G most of the time this morning), nfc on, gps off.
The battery only lasted 5h30mn with the screen on for approximately 4h30mn.
I've attached 2 screenshots with the stats of the battery.
On a more normal daily use, I use the phone 1h30mn in the morning, check my emails in the day (approx. 30mn) and after work my battery dies after using it for another hour ... And that's when I don't have calls.
How is your galaxy nexus's battery life? Does mine looks normal or should I think about getting my battery replaced?
Cheers,
Laurent
Having the screen on for 4.5hours is pretty good imo, especially considering the size of it. Ive only had mine a few days so hard to tell but I think its matching up to similar battery life as my old Galaxy S..

4.5 hours of screen time is really good. My Desire usually makes me pay attention to charger after 3 hours, certainly after 4 hours. A high definition screen and more processing power Nexus surviving longer than that will mean the upgrade will be easy for me.
I am sorry that the OP is disappointed, but I for one hand predicted even less battery life. This is how battery life is these days with high end phones.

4.5 hrs of screen on time and you're dissatisfied? I'd say that's fairly good battery life for a phone not from the future.
4.5 hours of screen time is very good. I am getting about 3.5 hours on a normal day atm not tried what you have done yet.
Jesus, how did you manage to have the screen on that long lol

Very similar here.
1h in the morning on my commute. Probably another hour during the day, and then again on my way back.
As long as it makes it home to a charger, fine for me.
Although I have just ordered a 5000mAh external USB battery pack for when I'm travelling
Aye, like others are saying, 4.5 hours of screen time is pretty good. The iPhone 4 only gets around the same.
Then again, with intensive browsing and internet usage that's actually *exceptional*. The iPhone couldn't do it.

I'm using this one and I am very satisfied!

iPhone 4 easily gets over 4 hour screen time. I got 2 hrs of screen time with 80% battery left.
We should compare to the galaxy s II which was supposedly very good for android
So you're upset that under an absolute stress test, you got ONLY 4.5 hrs?
That's pretty impressive. If not, return the GNEX and get, well, some other phone that will go 24 hrs under a full screen-on load test. Good luck.
Or just wait on generic batteries to hit eBay and buy three for $15 and be done with it.

Good news, that's what I ordered
Can you confirm it can be charged and the same time it charges a device. I.e a single USB mains adaptor would do me if both need charging.
I prefer something like this, because there is no cables at all. IMHO its best to always have one like that in your bag. It has two charging ports, mini and micro usb.
Pretty poor .. but no worse than most Android devices I have owned, I use them intensely: calls, wifi, GPS, wifi analyse, Fing, email, calendar, internet .... so I am never surprised! Just about lasts long enough to hit a charger in the late afternoon, in the car or back at base.

Yeah and it works with everything that has USB charging. It is no different from when you plug your device into a laptop that also runs on battery, etc. It is always great to have for traveling purposes, the only problem is that this item too has 'charge stress', aka you'll end up wanting to keep it charged 'just in case' but rarely using it.
Thanks all for your replies!
Of course I wouldn't use my phone with the screen on for those 4h30 a day. But it would have been good if the battery could handle 2-3h of web surfing, a day of standby with a call or 2. Unfortunately it often doesn't last this long on these conditions.
Apart from that the galaxy is a great phone.

How's your battery life with low-med usage?

I'm getting some really good battery life with light usage so far.
1d 3h 33m
Edit
I m getting similar results, light usage I unplug at 7am and plug back in at 1am with ~50% battery left.
This screenshot doesnt say much, tap at the graph - that the screen to show off
WIFI seems to be much better. With my LTE on I can barely charge the phone LOL. I wouldn't trade 20 Mbps down for bettery life.
I'd say my experience has been the opposite of what's been reported. With low to medium usage, I'm lucky to get 8 hours. I don't think I'm doing anything wrong. I use setCPU to put my phone in battery saving mode and underclocked all the way when the screen's off. I kill apps whenever I notice a lot are running. I dunno. Coming from an iphone, I'd say my battery life has been horrible.

I've never been an iPhone fan, but since the iPhone 4 the battery has been phenomenal. Battery life is constantly improving on Android phones, but it seems like every time something new is introduced it gets significantly worse. The 720p screen and LTE radio don't seem to be helping the battery cause. In the Nitro's defense, I haven't carried it an entire day to see how it works out for me. My Inspire could charge completely in about 2 hours, this phone will have changed less than 50%. But I have 20 Mbps download!!!

This is interesting since I don't kill apps, I don't use setcpu, and have only done minimal debloating. I do have pretty decent signal at my workplace (which is 4G, not LTE) which does make a big difference.

I wonder if it's the point? Maybe codeaurora just knows better how to undervolt SoC than setcpu does, just maybe? If Malnilion only tried to stop using setcpu could it made any difference?
Well, I'll be damned. setCPU was the problem. My battery life is lasting much longer now. With medium usage I'm at about 15 hours on a charge and have 7% left. If anybody is having a problem and is using setCPU, don't take my word for it, uninstall setCPU and see for yourself.

my experience has been the same using setcpu on my nitro. not sure if there was a sw conflict or if the stock sw simply does the job better but this phone runs much better without setcpu.
That being said, I am currently running JD ultimate and have its cpu gov running and it works much better imo.

If you're using a USB port to charge that could be why it's so slow.
Edit: I am too, I'd say it's around 3 hours or so per full charge. Maybe slightly longer.

Good point. Now that you mention it, it does appear to charge faster when plugged into the wall. Well that kind of sucks. This thing takes forever to charge. I'll try with a wall adapter when I am home again and let you know what I find out.
It's kind of hard to always have a wall charger with me though.
It is not blackberry crazy short timing charges but I can charge it less than 2 hours from around 20% left using stock 1.5 amp wall charger. It definitely does not charge long.
Sent from my LG-P930 using Tapatalk
Wall charger made a huge difference. Charged about 55% in an hour. Thanks for the tip.
Sent from my LG-P930 using xda premium
Am I correct to assume that the 2.1amp car charger would charge better/faster than the 1.5amp wall charger? I ask because with the wall charger I still consume power faster than the charger can keep up while watching SlingPlayer mobile.
Probably so, this phone is a battery draining beast. Every review I've read says LTE phones have terrible battery life. LG should have had an option to disable it and 3G. Oh well, I'll live with it while streaming on my 22 Mbps DL connection.
Sent from my LG-P930 using xda premium
That's just it though... I'm not on LTE while using SlingPlayer. I'm on 4G out in the field. My car charger doesn't say what it is, but I assume it's 1.5amp. I download "Advanced Task Killer" app, but everything I "kill" comes right back up. I think there's too much crap running and sucking down the battery. I really need to figure out how to root and freeze bloatware crap.

Same here. Battery life was a concern for me when I was first considering the phone. But I found that I can go a full day on a single charge. so I don't even worry about it anymore.

Battery...hmm not bad

So I 've been wanting to really test how long my battery could go with minimal use.
This included...
about 45 minutes of 3G tethering
and about 13 hours on 3G. 4G was disabled the whole entire time
As you can see it was idle a lot, but I almost got 2 full days on stock battery. So no complaints.
Part of me feels like if it was not for that 3G tethering maybe I could have got 4 more hours+
Not bad indeed.
Would rather use my phone and have to charge when I get home then leave it in my pocket all day.
Also your wifi was toggled on the whole time... that would have saved some battery.

That sounds pretty dire....are you running at full brightness with Wifi and bluetooth and the GPS on (happens e.g. if you enable GPS for apps and then open Facebook) and no screen timeout while running the camera?
I've had an hour of screen time, and about 9 hours of screen off; I've not had it on to charge at all today, and I'm at 60% battery.
If you go into settings/battery, what else is keeping your phone awake? In other threads, people suggest installing 'Better Battery Stats' (nb, cheap, not free) and posting screen shots of the kernel/partial wakelocks. I can't interpret them myself, but others can...

The only complaint I have with this phone is the massive difference between hspa and lte versions in battery life. Other than the razr maxx no late phone has acceptable battery life including the nexus. To get 5-6.5 hours screen time on my nexus versus friends 2.5-3 on an lte version is just crummy. I know some people just have extra batteries but that short of usable battery life is just too much of a hassle for me when I'm out and about. I would be forced to get a huge ugly seidio battery if I needed to move to Verizon. Even with 4g disabled the Verizon/sprint versions don't get the screen time I get with my hspa nexus. I really hope lte radios get more efficient and battery tech gets better. Removable or not, all phones can be made as sleek with a huge battery if manufacturers wanted. The maxx is proof of that.

I am giving my machine a hard time every day. Usually it ****s up after something like 4 hours. That is much better than the old machine I had. However, it is not good enough cause I work for 8 hours. So after the midday break in the canteen there is no more angry birds for me. Is everyone else getting strange battery drops? When the battery is at 19%, it drops directly to 15%, without going through 18,17,16. Is this happening to you or is my battery screwed up? It's been doing it for weeks now so I don't think it's about lack of battery training
This is with a genuine 2000mah extended battery, minimal use over a long weekend. This is also with emails, facebook etc all polling at 30 min intervals, wifi on but not always connected and screen on auto brightness. I had also conditioned the battery by fully charging and discharging about 5 times when the battery was new.

I was getting worried as well. Every time I've used it for anything other than movies my battery percentage has dropped like an aerodynamic rock. Browsing, games, magazines, etc. Movies (assuming because of the typically large amount of black pixels) look fantastic and the battery does quite with them, but for everyday consumption it left me concerned.
An hour ago I asked Amazon for an exchange which they did no questions asked. Perhaps round 2 will fare better. If not, I'll shed a tear as I give up this amazing display for another device altogether.

Yes. Lte version as well. I noticed that when he do wifi file transfers and other stuffs. Batt will drain as well.
I want a heads on comparison with his tab but it's hard since we use the tab differently. This is my primary phone while his is for browsing only. Tomorrow. I'll try to transfer s huge file via wifi and see if we'll have the similar percentage of battery drain. I already did the calibration as advised from another thread and it seems to work. A few more charge cycle might do the trick.

Same for me.... It takes forever to fully charge it (10,5 in)
I use a 10.5 LTE and it takes about 5 hours to fully charge. I recommend to switch it off while charging because when it's on you loose about 500mAh (also if the screen is off) and with a 2Ah charger if the battery sees (optimistically) 1.5Ah it takes 5h 20' plus the time required by the slow charge when it reaches 85-90%, so more than 6h.
Anyway I charge it every time I can when it goes under 50%, it's a big battery and needs a special care. Nothing to say about batterylife, excellent.
Most tablets/phones fast charge to 80% and then slow down for the last 20% , so if you don't need a full charge just grab it after it goes past 80% , your battery will live longer as well, as the closer you charge to 100% the more damage is done to your battery, it`s very small but it adds up.
Have a read of the link below, if you want to make the battery in your tablet live longer, if you have the money to easily replace it then don't worry, charge away

Battery Drains When It Hits 25% - Why and How to Fix?

Is it possible that one part of the battery is defective, such that the battery does fine until it has 25% left? Is there a fix for that? Or is it possible to remove the battery and replace it with a new one?

What do you mean by 'fast'. I've had my ALOO for 2 years and have noticed a slight reduction in overal battery life (as to be expected) which does appear to drain slightly quicker after 25% but it could not be described as "fast".

Fast is fast. I don't know what you mean by what I said by fast. Everyone here gets it

So it goes from 25% to zero within 2 hours with similar usage prior to it eaching 25%. I'd call that fast
Mine takes about 18 hours to reach 25% from full charge with normal usage then about 4 hours to reach zero. I dont consider that fast but power lose is quicker.
Hence my question. Fast is meaningless without sone form of a definition.

My phone takes 3 - 4 days from full charge to 25%. Thereafter it drains to 0% in less than 6 hours.
Mostly everyone who owns a 20x have similar battery life with exception to those with abnormal drain myself and another user on this thread included.
Fast is a relative term yet everyone understands 'fast' when compared to the rest of their battery life.
So we have very similar usage and drain times. I've just put that down to one of those things to be expected as the battery gets older. i.e. not abnormal. Guess it's down to a matter of differing expectaions/perceptions.

No we dont have similar drain times. You said this:
"Mine takes about 18 hours to reach 25%. So it goes from 25% to zero within 2 hours with similar usage prior to it reaching 25%."
Contrast to my battery of 3 - 4 days normal usage followed by a steep decline from 25% - 0% in less than 6 hours.
I dont see the similarity between our phones.
.
18 hours normal usage for me = 3 to 4 days for me. That's about 6 to 4.5 hours usage per day.

How is 18 hours used up til you hit 25% the same as 3 - 4 days of battery use?? You make 0 sense
If you read my post you should understand. Can't help you if you can't do the math.
