[Q] NFC Problems - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S6

I have a gs6 rooted via ping pong root and using galaxy tools to get hotspot as well as enable all toggles. The only problem I have is that NFC does not work. The first screen under the settings says it's off and the second screen says on but I am not able to toggle the switch. The quick toggle looks like it's continually pressed, see attached picture. I've tried searching but I haven't had any luck. I also tried flashing stock firmware via Odin but had no luck with that either. It worked before I rooted/used galaxy tools is it possible that one of those broke something? Does anyone have any idea how to fix this? Thanks for your help!

I don't think it's the rooting that did it, I have gs6 and have the same issue. By any chance do you have sprint for carrier? Mine worked until installing Samsung quick pay and an ota update by sprint now both claim it's not there issue

I do have Sprint. I don't know what caused the issue but I ended up sending the phone back to Samsung for repair since it was covered under factory warranty yet. I don't know what they fixed but it's working fine now.

Samsung pay is 100% disabled but I believe that there is a android pay work around on the renegade ROM thread.

AT&T Galaxy S3 Wifi Problerm

Hello all,
I only recently updated to the Galaxy S3 on AT&T and noticed that Wifi is practically useless.
It constantly loses connection. An app may download 30% or 50% of 70%, and then stop. Eventually it will connect again and then finish the download.
Maybe I can see a few webpages, and then it I get page not available notice.
I have read that an update fixed this problem, but I don't know if it is true.
Please let me know if there is a software update for this problem.
I only have a couple of days left to return the phone, and if I can't use wifi I may do so.
My phone information is below:
Model Number Samsung SGH-i747
Android Version 4.0.4
Baseband version I747UCLEM
Kernel version 3.0.8-599060-user
[email protected] #1
SMP PREEMPT Tue May 22 02:16:30 KST 2012
Build number
IMM76D.I747UCALEM
Thanks,
rblancrt
I have seen versions from July? which are I747UCLH9 and read that this update fixed wifi problems.
If this is true how do I update to this version now.
I have not rooted this phone, but have no problem doing so. However I would like to keep it unrooted as I may have to return it soon.
Of course when I check for updates from the phone it says that there are none available.
Help!
try using kies to update your phone. also try dialing *#0011#, pressing menu, selecting wifi, and turning 'wifi powersaving mode' to off
also fyi this goes in q&a report your post and categorize it as maintenance and say it's in the wrong section.

Hello! You're actually using an older firmware version. You should be on 4.1.1. Keis is pretty simple you just need to download, install, then plug your phone in and it should do the rest for you. If you've ever used an iphone or Ipod it works pretty much the same as Itunes (as far as updating your phone). The Samsung website is: http://www.samsung.com/us/kies/ About half way down the page you'll see the download links. Update to 4.1.1 and see if you're still having the issues.
Hope this helps.

Thanks, I did download Keis and got it to recognize my phone but had to charge it again, so haven't done the update yet.
Thanks for the replies
As was said, upgrade the software first. Then try disabling power saving. Uncheck avoid poor connections if you have such a setting. If nothing works try checking your router's conf if you have access to it, or install WiFix if you're experiencing region-related issues. Good luck.
Thanks... Will try the upgrade tomorrow. I went to att store. They were very good at ignoring or talking about something else when I asked about updates. I would never have gotten anywhere with them.
I have a Samsung vibrant and have flashed many roms and themes and know where to go for knowledgeable assistance..... HERE.
Will post my results tomorrow.

Did the firmware upgrade. Unfortunately still have a problem with wifi. Most of the time can't even make it through "Speed Test" app.
Tried turning Wifi power save off.
Not sure what else to do
Thanks anyway. As usual a problem with Samsung phone. Last time GPS, this time Wifi.
So silly

Never had an issue with a Samsung phone (except unforgivable GPS on OG Galaxy S)
Do you want to root the phone or are you staying stock for now ?

If I keep it I'm sure I will root it. I actually had it rooted about a week ago and then went back to stock thinking I might have to return it.
If you have any suggestions that require root I'm very willing to hear them.
Thanks.
Dude you have the old firmware I suggest you get on Kies and update your phone to the latest firmware which is I747UCDLK3
Seems to be working

By the way, thanks to all who replied to my question. I did get my firmware updated through KIES because of the info I would here.
When I mentioned any updates at the AT&T store I was pretty much ignored and the subject was changed. Just switched to AT&T recently and so far I have realized that the employees in their store are taught to be very polite, and it seems to get you out of the door without necessarily answering your question or fixing your problem. I guess they figure you will find it difficult to get upset with someone who is polite to you.
I have been there twice now and I hate it. It's like they are talking to you like you are an idiot.

Screen Mirroring Rooted GS4

Does anyone know if a gs4 is rooted does screen mirroring stop working.. It connects then it turns off immediately.. I am using Darthstalker X for Tmobile.. Any fixes or maybe use another Rom.. No one seems to talk about it on these forms.. Searched like crazy...Using 4.3 mk2..Thanks any help would be appreciated...
I've tried to get people to talk about it but nobody seems to care. My s3 use to work when rooted and while tethering but not the s4. It sucks big time! The s4 will work when you are connected to WiFi but not if you use your mobile data. Allshare seems to automatically turn WiFi on when you tether so it turns off when you try to mirror your screen.

Tried connecting to smart Samsung tv.. It says connected then screen mirroring turns itself off and you lose the connection.. Im surprised no one cares about this since its a really awesome feature.. If you lose it on a rooted device its a major handicap.. Hopefully someone out there can explain this to us...

Have you tried using a stock rooted rom? The problem may be that the dev "debloated" this feature as most do not use it. I would make a nandroid and flash a stock rooted full bloat rom or just odin back to stock and root it, do not flash a rom. Then test this feature out. From there you can decide to figure out what files are missing or ask the dev to either include it in his next release or make a flashable zip that will add the necessary files back in.
Thanks sounds like a good Idea.. Will ask the the Dev on darthstalker x1, but I don't think I have enough posts yet..lol.. Thanks

"vzwavsservice" FCs

Hello -- I was trying out a MDM in the office on my G3, and after disassociating my device with it, I started getting FCs on "vzwavsservice". Mainly when the phone boots up. I can't really find any information online as to what this actually does. I have just disabled it. I have not noticed anything different or malfunctioning on my G3.
Anyone have any ideas what it could be? Obviously it is some sort of VZ Addon...But wondering what its functionality or reasoning is.
Thanks in advance.

I'll be honest. After I posted this, and I froze/disabled this "Service"...I haven't noticed anything not working or acting funny. I would say this is safe to disable. It is likely some type of Verizon add-on.
If you do disable it and see something act up, let me know. Would love to know what it does lol. But for now -- Mine remains disabled. :good:

Try opening the verizon mobile application (the app you would use to check your data...etc)...
Does that give you an error after logging in?
I think that is what it is for...
I started getting this today too. Most of my Verizon stuff is frozen however. Wonder if VZW is pushing an OTA today. Those of us getting it, are we all rooted?
I just got this force close today after updating some apps on the play store. Posting in the Verizon LG G3 section might get more responces.

It appears to be conflict with new Google+ update

You can disable the VZWAVSService without being rooted. Which likely means it is really really pointless.
I get it sometimes on stock unrooted, but also always when I have stuck a T-Mobile or ATT sim in the Verizon LG G3.
VZWAVSService caused by Google+ Update
The VZWAVSService error ceased when I went to application manager and uninstalled the Google+ updates.
Once the updates were uninstalled, my mobile hotspot and USB tether functions returned.
It seems that this service is an address verification process. This explains why, when my phone checked my subscription status for Mobile Hotspot and Tethering service, the functions did not activate.

My hotspot service works with VZWAVSService disabled. I do not think that hotspot and this app are related since I had also disabled this service on my Galaxy S3 for months and the hotspot service still worked the entire time.
I have a Verizon LG G3. I just uninstalled the Google+ updates and reverted back to an "Original Version" to see if that goofy message will cease to continue. I am rooted and i have Wifi Tether Router installed. I used Stump Root to root the device.

Just freeze the app, you can even do it in the stock settings. Vzwavservice-Verizon's anti virus software that McAfee makes and it is strait garbage.
The 11c update fixed this issue?
After flashing beans 11c and using if for a while I realized that I had not re-frozen vzwavsservice. It isn't closing on boot anymore. I believe Verizon fixed this issue in the latest software release.

[Q] tethering issue

I have the stock i317 running on the T-mobile network and was trying to tether but phone looks for at&t network then denies me the request, even through WiFi. Is there a way too fix this so I can tether my son's tab 3 to it? Any help foxing is appreciated.

I have the exact same phone on T-mobile as well. You may have to root to bypass tethering provision. Mine works fine, but I've been rooted from day one :/
Surely there's another option but off the top of my head I don't have another solution.

I'll have to give it a try, I hadn't rooted it because T-Mobile insured it even though it wasn't from them. I clicked your thanks button.
Thanks @Devil-Dog I hit yours also.
And you can always unroot if you need to claim insurance (believe me I've been there).

I wouldn't have to change to a Rom would I? I like having the official KK stock rom
No you shouldn't have to, just disable tethering provision, I believe. It's been a long time since I was fully stock, but I'm pretty sure that's what I did. However, if that doesn't work the way you want it to, there are a lot of fully stock roms that are just slightly tweaked to allow things like tethering, faster wifi, & ad blocking. Try the first route first though.

Edit: you can disable it with rom toolbox or titanium backup. That's why you'd have to root, so you can access and freeze system files

Good luck! I know I can't live without tethering too. I've got 2 kids who each have their own tablets & they gotta be able to play on them when we're away from home... so no matter what rom I'm on I must get tethering enabled. I understand on that one!
On my Stock 4.4.2 i317 I just rooted it then installed Xposed Framework installer then download the Motoxtether module installed it via Xposed Framework and then installed "Tether it " from Play Store and tether works great

Apparently Big Red knows when you're rooted.

Talking to Verizon support today trying to figure out why Advanced Calling wasn't working, and they straight up said that it appeared that I was rooted. I feigned ignorance, but I thought it was very odd that they knew this.
Sent from my VS986 using Tapatalk
The My Verizon Mobile is the one that tells them. If you deny it root when it asks, it knows you have root. If you didn't have root I think there would be no reply to it's asking for root.
Ah, is that why my advanced calling isn't working? Annoying.
I need to call them for my Advanced Calling as well (as it's complete horse s**t that I need to enable that so my phone doesn't drop from 4G to 1X) but I've never been prompted by My Verizon about root access...
There's a system property you can find with "getprop" called "vzw.os.rooted". I tried changing it in build.prop, but it didn't work. There's also a partition called persistent with a file /persistent/rct.cfg detailing some not allowed system behavior. There are things that detect root since it's pretty noticable and readable to everything at /system/xbin/su. An app that communicates to the internet could easily transmit that information. This is one of the many reasons I have a firewall (AFWall+). I installed it pretty soon after I got root, but one of the many vzw bloatware apps probably got the info out. Guess what, I don't give a s***.
FWIW, I had a lot of difficulty trying to activate Advanced Calling on software 610B. I worked with Tech Support for a week, no luck.
I finally updated to 611A as a last resort, and it suddenly worked. So if you're having trouble getting AC enabled, and you're on 610B, you may need to update your software version.

Isn't 11A the upgraded version of 11B? I know it sounds backwards, but we had to KDZ that to root phone.
Before I rooted my advanced calling worked. After root when I make calls it drops to 1x. Don't really care as I don't browse the internet on my phone while on a call (99% of the time).
Still, it's pretty dumb of Verizon. Then again they do more than their fair share of dumb corporate related ****.
Mine works and I'm rooted with no firewall or protection to block them knowing.

AFAIK, there is no 11B.
Just 610B (original, what shipped on my G4), and 611A (OTA update, which I needed to use in order to properly activate AC).
I am not rooted.
Advanced Calling also works fine for me on rooted 11A. However, I recently disabled it because ACR will not record calls with it turned on.

For those of us who haven't fully been following the root discussions, what does that mean, that you KDZ'd to 11A? You had 610B, you used KDZ to put on a 611A image (not taking the OTA to 611A, so you kept the 610B bootloader), then rooted that?
Did AC work before root, presumably on 610B?
After what I went through to finally get AC working, I would really hate for root to break that

AC worked perfectly for me on 10B, and after I rooted (KDZing to 11A) it will no longer activate. I tried toubleshooting with VZW, and none of the things they did on their end fixed it. The only suggestion they had was factory resetting, but I haven't tried that yet.
I'm sorry to hear that.
There seems to be some mysterious magic to Verizon's Advanced Calling. In the span of a week, after a bunch of work on their end, Verizon was unable to fix mine, they resorted to telling me to exchange the phone. I had already done a factory reset, at their suggestion, which did not change anything. Then after the OTA to 611A, it suddenly worked, and it seemed this was a surprise to them, as well as to me.
Having issues with AC after rooting would seem worse, they could potentially blame any issues on root.
Why problems with AC can't be figured out, and then fixed, is kind of disconcerting. I guess maybe there's a reason the phone calls it Advanced Calling 1.0.
AC was working for me also and then it stopped. I was already on 11a before rooting. If you have the verizon app called name and id on your phone ac will not work. Once I froze that app in tibu it went back to working. I'm not for certain but I don't think that app was on my phone before root so it may have been included in the rooted img file.
