Hard Reset? - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am trying everything possible to hard reset with the power and volume down button but having no luck at all.
Is there a trick or something on how to do it on the G4?

FYI. Here is how to Hard Reset our new toys .
To perform a hard reset
1. With the device turned off, press and hold the TALK/SEND, END and POWER buttons until you see this message on the screen.
"This operation will delete all your personal data, and reset all settings to manufacturer default. Press VolUp to restore manufacturer default, or press other keys to cancel."
2. Release the TALK/SEND, END and POWER buttons.
3. Press the VOLUME UP button to perform the hard reset, or press any other button to cancel the reset.
You'll need it ))
Just asking but isnt going threw the settings and memory clear then it will tell you to put in "1234" to confirm it the same? Thats what i did and it restored it to all factory settings or does this way do more?
yeah, you can hard reset that way... but someday you'll need to hard reset the hardware way.... ie: after flash cooked rom, when the "touch here bla...bla..." message appear, you'll want to hard reset straight away... much faster than setup, and then hard reset later...
@doublecheese: nice info... thanks..
While I was trying new programs to my TP2 , the phone just hang, even after soft reset, it was just hanging on the opening screen so the phone never could start, so I had no chance but to Hard Reset the phone.

Hard Reset will put the phone back to how you got it (or if you've flashed a ROM, to how it was just after you flashed a ROM).
So, Yes

in soft reset the phone will only turn off and on..
just like if u restart ur computer..
u wont loose anything.
Is there any reason why resetting wont work? I tried it several times. With the send/end/power combo and also with vol+/vol-/power combo. Neither of these combinations worked. It's non branded TP2 and only 2 weeks old.

Here :

But since HSPL is out thanks to Olinex, you can upload many new custom cookes roms which are available for the Rhodium.
Am I doing something wrong? I never get the confirmation for a hard reset. I have held the green, red and reset button at the top through a whole power cycle and no dice. I also tried just the green and red buttons, what is going on?

I think a Verizon TP2 has a different key combination.
Try this:
- Power off the phone using the 'end' key.
- Hold 'volume down' and 'send', the press 'end' till you see blue text. Follow hard reset prompts.
Thanks, I will keep that in mind for next time fore I have already used the clear programs avenue.
Awesome! Thanks for the info.

Factory Hard Reset with non-rooted GNEX

Hey guys,
When i get my new phones, i like to start off with a factory reset before setting it up. call me weird or what-ever but that is what i like to do.
I've tried searching, but i get factory reset instructions from a rooted phone.
is the factory reset the same as the NS?
I don't know if it is any different in ICS........
can some one give me a quick break down???
i know i know i know..... ***flame suite on****
settings > backup & reset > factory data reset
thanks for the reply!
what about factory reset from the boot screen?
You can hold down both the volume up and down keys and the power button to boot into the bootloader.
Cycle to recovery using the volume rocker and use the power button to select.
I believe you can then wipe data from recovery but I haven't tried it on the GN.
Maybe someone else can confirm.

[Q] How best to wipe/factory reset phone

I have a Wildfire S someone was just looking to get rid of. I'd like to try and set this up for my son to use, but it has a lock screen code and I've no way of directly contacting the previous owner.
I'd like to know the easiest way to just wipe the phone and factory reset it so I can try it out and see if it's going to work for me. I may try rooting/ROMing later, but right now I just want to wipe all their data etc. and just get it back to a factory reset state. If the easiest way to get this thing wiped is to root it and install a ROM I'd be find with that as well. (I don't have any experience tinkering with HTC phones).
Thanks for any help. I tried searching and wasn't able to find anything and there's no stickies I could find on the subject (If I missed an obvious guide I apologize).

you can directly factory reset it.
remove battery and again install it.then hold volume down and power button.
then you can see bootloader menu, and with help of volume keys select factory reset option and press power button.it might help to reset your phone directly.

LG-VS986 Normal Hard Reset not working

A friend of mine brought me his phone to do a factory reset.
But when i try the power button and volume down hard reset it doesnt work.
When the LG logo appears i release the power button and press it again, but it just goes to the Verizon screen and boots as normal.
Any suggestions besides the factory reset in Settings?
Thanks
