T-Mobile on verizon lg g4? - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So i have a iphone 6 plus and someone offered me a verizon unlocked lg g4. Tmobile is my carrier and i understand that the g4 is unlocked but i was wondering how would tmobile be like on the g4? Will LTE function normally ? Thanks

edit: nevermind was wrong

The Verizon G4 supports bands 2/4/13. Most of T-Mobile uses band 4 for LTE, and on recent 2G > LTE converted sites they typically use band 2, so yes I'd say it would work well. The one they are missing is band 12, so you won't get any of T-Mobile's low-band spectrum.
You will likely also get an invalid SIM warning on your phone, since it's not a Verizon SIM.

My Tmobile branded Iphone doesn't have band 12 either so will my service be the exact as I have it on my crapple 6 plus ?

Should be.

[Q] LG G4 (F500-L) on T-mobile?

I currently have a Korean variant (F500-L). I have seen a couple of these for sale on swappa and both posts say that this phone will work with T-mobile LTE. However, when I've popped in my SIM, I only get 3G. Does anyone else have any experience with this variant on T-mobile? If you were able to get it to work on LTE, how did you do it?
Enter APN settings for T-Mobile. Google that. Just popping in the sim won't give lte.
i have the same issue.. the APN settings seem to be correct.. but it only shows 3G. Model is F500-L
same here i need help too mine is a f500s lg g4 skt version thanks
Far as I know, phone must support LTE Band 2 and 4 to work on T-Mobile 4G network.
But F500(Korean ver. of G4) doesn't support LTE Band 2 and 4. It supports LTE band 1,3,5 and 7. Therefore a phone will only work under 3G network.

Q on LTE Bands of VZW G4

Has anyone tested out an AT&T SIM card in a Verizon variant of the G4? I'd really like an android phone that has LTE bands for both AT&T/VZW to swap back and forth with my iPhone. The VZW Nexus 6 worked great, but it was just too clunky for me.
Thanks in advance for the help!
AT&T uses two main bands for LTE, bands 5 and 17. They also use bands 2/4/29/30 depending on the market.
The Verizon G4 supports these bands according to Verizon: 2/4/13, and these bands according to other research I found online: 2/4/5/7/13.
If that's true, it sounds like you should be able to get some LTE in most markets, but you would be limited as the only bands you could get LTE on would be 2/4/5.
Thanks for your help!

Do you know where 2/4/5/7/13 are confirmed online? I really wish LG would give us more lte bands like the S6 and iphone 6 do so that I can use it between the US and Europe.

I only saw it on some spec listings, I'm not sure where you can confirm it.

Verizon LG G4 Variant - Can it work reliably with AT&T

I was looking at purchasing a Verizon version of the LG G4. It appears it supports all the bands of AT&T, except for Band 17.
Can anyone confirm that it does not in fact support Band 17? Will this impact AT&T service or coverage?
Probably depends on which bands ATT uses in your area in particular.
Being that band 17 is AT&T's primary 4g LTE band I'm going to say, no, it will not work "reliably"

What needs to be done when switching from VZW to TMO?

I currently have a rooted/unlocked G3 with the tethering hack on VZW and am in the process of switching to a TMO 4/150 unlimited plan. Other than swapping the sim do I need to do anything else like change to TMO firmware?
Depending on when the G5 is available it may be a moot point but I've searched and can't seem to find an answer to what I know is a very basic question.

I would NOT recommend flashing any D851 firmware to the phone. You should be able to enter T-Mobile's APN and be good. Also, the Verizon VS985 G3 supports LTE Band 4 (1700, 2100) which is what the T-Mobile D851 uses for LTE. So you might even get full data speeds.
You could also get the V10 now instead of waiting on the G5. That phone is a monster. Lol

Thanks, I was pretty sure that was the case about not trying to flash TMO specific FW.
The only possible problem may be the lack of band 12 in the G3 when I'm @ home but I'll have to wait until I do the switch to verify. As noted, I'm planning on moving the the G5 so that shouldn't be a long term problem unless my wife decides to keep her G3 as she hates changing things.
T-Mobile doesn't use band 12 even in their D851 G3. It's only capable of utilizing the following bands: 2(1900), 4(1700/2100), 7(2600), 17(700)
Band 4 is the main one used by T-Mobile for their devices.

Domestic and international LTE bands on the G5

Don't get your hopes up, fellow Sprint customers.
This phone is gearing up to be another LTE-limited Sprint-only type phone, similar to what they do with most of their other phones. I'm speculating based on the fact that there is currently an unlocked version of the phone listed at B&H:
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1239314-REG/lg_lgrs988_ausasv_g5_h850_32gb_smartphone.html
Nowhere in the specs and description does it list anything about Sprint support and there's no indication that Sprint will even activate this phone. If for some reason Sprint does decide to activate this phone, it's missing LTE bands 26 and 41 which means you're stuck using band 25 only for LTE connections in the US.
I think it's reasonable to assume they will disable or leave off LTE band 7 and possibly 13 and 20 as they did with the recently released Samsung Galaxy S7.
This means the probable Sprint-only LG G5 might be partially crippled for worldwide LTE bands, assuming LTE band 7 is not included, but will mostly work with Sprint domestically.
As of right now, if you're looking for the most widely supported phones for international use that work with Sprint natively, which include LTE band 7, you're limited to Apple iPhone 6s, Motorola Moto X 2nd gen, and Nexus 5x/6p.
Edit 03/24/2016 - Phonescoop.com is reporting that LG is adding LTE bands 25, 26, and 41 to a base model but no report of getting rid of band 7.
http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=5094
Edit 03/25/2016 - Phonescoop updated its listing now saying LG got rid of LTE 1/2/5/7/20. So this will be yet another LTE crippled Sprint phone with only LTE bands 3 / 4 / 12 / 25 / 26 / 41
What I want to know is will the Sprint LG G5 have full use of Verizon's post/pre paid service if I chose to leave Sprint for Verizon in the future ???

Verizon uses LTE bands 2, 4 and 13. Sprint only included band 4. So while it's theoretically possible, there's no telling if all three bands are active on all Verizon LTE towers.

The question I want to ask is this:
Will a Sprint LG G5 support all the bands that Verizon uses like the Nexus 6P/5X ???

Don't count on it. Very unlikely.
