Looking for the best source for LG G4 H815 EU in the US - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I live in the US and want to purchase the H815 variant. I see there are several different H815's, an EU, a Taiwan, and maybe a Korean.
I would like to be able to purchase it with a warranty and to be sure its the EU variant, so that it will be bootloader unlockable. I know LG says they will make others unlockable in the future, but it doesn't say how long. I hate for them to drag their feet and it still not be unlockable 2 months from now because I got the Taiwan region H815.
I see the H815 on ebay and amazon, but no one is really clear on which region code the device is. Does anyone have any input? Thanks!

Those on eBay and Amazon all seem to ship from either Singapore or Taiwan.
It stands to reason that if there are indeed different flavors named the same (H815), -- what an odd decision by LG -- those would be the Asian variety, not EU. I think I saw in some thread here something about an owner of one of these phones not being successful at doing the official unlock.

Indeed, I read this same post and was my initial cause for concern. I wonder why its the same model number, H815? I wonder why LG didn't opt for a different model for these different regions if they are going to roll out unlocks for them at different times.

expansys-usa.com has the EU G4 H815 in stock in the US I believe. It was like $100 more than the eBay sellers though last I checked.

Keep in mind there is no US warranty on the UK version. I called and checked.

This is quite sad. I assume there is no US/North American version of the H815?

You see this?
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BRAND-NEW...997?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item41975ab34d

I'm been communicating with never-msrp and tropical mobile, the two sellers on ebay who are selling in bulk and competitive pricing (now under $600)
They are both selling the asian version which is actually H815T (vs H815)
never-msrp says he will have the EU version in 3-4 days but only available in plastic back
I hope this helped~!
Also, as far as I can understand, you won't get any warranty on the device (if you're looking for the H815, you're unlocking anyways so that voids warranty as well)

Their product page states that the phone comes with LG's 12-month warranty. That is for the Asian version.
EU version's pages, at least on Amazon, however, explicitly state "no warranty".
So the warranty deal could be a regional issue.

actually scratch that. H815T is the Hong Kong version according to LG HK's website
If you do a search on ebay for H815T you'll see a lot of postings where it does NOT say it's factory unlocked. Except the ones that never-msrp are selling so not sure what to make of it.
I too live in canada and our support( for dev purposes AND legit updates) sucks in general so I'd really like to get an international version but the warranty and this EU vs Asia H815 issue is really holding me back....

Handtec looks like they have some good options. I contacted them and their phone is the EU H815 and they ship internationally. Total shipped to the US for the "LG G4 32GB - Metallic Grey" is £406.89 which google says is $623.70 right now. Not a bad price for a known EU H815. I don't have the funds just yet, so I will keep looking for any cheaper source for the next few weeks anyway.

Do we (united states) have to pay any sort of import/duty/customs fee when it arrives in the USA? That would be a deal breaker. And I'm assuming this would come with an EU power brick so we'd need to supply our own charger?

Good questions, I don't know the answer to that. I wouldn't care about the EU power brick, but I would hate to pay any customs fee unless it was VERY small. Does anyone know the answer to these questions?

You may read about my experiences with importing via Handtec here:

Mejilan,
Thanks for letting me know about your post. I have read it and it was most helpful. Is there any trick to how you filled out this form that allowed you to have incur any fees?

Sure. I used a bit of Google-Fu to figure out what I should be filling in for the FCC ID and Manufacturer's Address fields in the FCC Form 740 FedEx Customs had me fill out. The rest of the form was fairly straightforward. Towards the bottom, they ask you to specify the kind of import you're arranging by selecting from options 1-8. I went with the first option.
https://apps.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas/reports/GenericSearchResult.cfm?RequestTimeout=500
FCC ID: ZNFH815
Manufacturer's Address:
LG Electronics MobileComm USA, Inc.
1000 Sylvan Ave.

United States
Edit - For some reason, direct linking to the FCC page isn't working for me. Could just be my browser. But if it fails for you as well, simply go to:
https://www.fcc.gov/fccid and do a manual search yourself. The Grantee code is ZNF. The Product Code is H815. Then click on Search. You may leave Applicant Name blank.

For anyone intersted, I just heard back from the eBay selling "never msrp" who has been selling the LG G4 in bulk one eBay (http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-LG-G4-H...r-/191577825455?ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:US:1123) and he told me that he will be getting the European version in limited quantity on Monday for the same price but only in brown (leather), gray and white colors.
I think this would be the best route as he ships from Houston.

Old thread I know but based on it I ordered from Handtec. I received a phone with a region code of BAL which was unlockable via official method. I received the phone 2 days after I ordered in a rural part of Washington State, USA.

[Q] Best Store to Import H815 ? Need assistance from European Users!

So it seems most of the H815's on Amazon and eBay are the Asian variants and NOT the European version. The issue with this is that only the European version seems to be unlockable through LG. Codefire needs to pick up an unlockable version (although my goal is to unlock it without going through LG). I need assistance finding different stores in Europe that sell the EU H815 and also ship to USA.
So far.. possible candidates are:
www.clove.co.uk/lg-g4
http://www.glistockisti.it/lg-g4-h815-ceramic-white.html?___SID=U
Would want to spend around $650.. or €600 (or less!!)
I'm still looking of course but any suggestions would be welcomed. And again.. I do not want the Asian variant.. it must be a generic unbranded European variant... seems they coul come from UK, France, Italy, Germany... maybe more.
I'm pretty sure I have the European version as it has the unlock bootloader options. I could sell it to you for perhaps $450. Pm for details if interested

Unlock bootloader options and the steps from LG's website to unlock the bootloader are two different things.
ya we learned that the USA H815 variant is not able to be officially unlocked through the LG page.
EU carrier-variants are also not allowed. so far, UK, DEU, FRA, ITA seem to be the main countries offering the EU OPEN model.
I ordered mine from Handtec and it arrived here in NY via FedEx next day.
Ordered it on Tuesday, arrived yesterday.
It's the SIM-Free EU model.
I can confirm I've bought from clove before, not sure what their shipping to the US is like though

how much did you pay for shipping? any extra taxes since it came from UK? I've read that mobile phones shouldnt get taxed but havent gotten a solid answer anywhere.
ooh also... does it say which country yours came from? should say on the box somewhere. I emailed Handtec earlier and they said its EU model but wouldnt specify which country. for example the model from italy would say something like: "AITALD".. ITA being italy obviously. Other countries with EU OPEN I've seen are FRA UK and DEU

Hiya,
I paid £434.99 for the phone and £11.90 for the FedEx priority shipping. The total was £446.89.
A FedEx import coordinator contacted me the same day I placed the order and requested that I fill out an FCC form (740, IIRC), and with a bit of Googled advice, I did so.
After a couple of revisions, the FedEx coordinator accepted the form and the result was that I paid no additional import or customs duties or fees, and the package was not delayed or held up. As I said, ordered on Tuesday from the U.K., in my hands Wednesday morning here in New York.
I left the phone's box at home, so I can't verify the phone's origin that way right now. I think I read on the box that it was manufactured in Taiwan, but I imagine almost all models are, regardless of intended market. The SKU on my Handtec invoice lists it as a LGH815.ADEULD. I'm not sure what that means or if that helps you at all. The included documentation (quick-start guide, etc.) was in English (and perhaps other languages further in, I didn't actually read it beyond a quick glance).
I can confirm that activating the phone with AT&T was as easy as taking my SIM card out of the AT&T-branded Samsung Galaxy S4 I was using until yesterday, and slotting it into the new LG G4. Easy-as-pie.
Hope this helps!

ahh nice. thank you... yes this is very helpful. so shipping wasnt much at all. and judging by your SKU it looks like you have a German (DEU) Black leather variant. So this would confirm it is indeed the EU OPEN model.. perfect. If I do go the H815 route it looks like these guys might be the cheapest... and I was looking for the DEU version... so that's perfect.
Also thanks for the heads up on the FCC form etc. I just wanted to be sure I wasn't going to be hit with some extra taxes after they deliver it. :good:
one last question... but unimportant if you dont have time to respond... but I'm curious if your G4 box came with the extra plastic battery cover? Seems every country is different but I know in Italy inside the main box (not a promo) there was an extra gold plastic battery cover.. but it seems some resellers are taking it out. I may just get the plastic back version anyway... but if i were to get the leather variant I'd want the option to swap to plastic.

Brilliant! I'm happy I could help out!
Yes, the FCC form concerned me, but it wound up being no big deal at all. Probably because this device is certified for use in the U.S. after all. I can provide you with the FCC ID and manufacturer's contact information I wound up filling into the form, if it comes to that. I initially touched base with Handtec about helping me fill out the form, but they claimed that they had never seen it before, so I wound up handling it myself with a bit of help from Google and the FedEx coordinator.
Handtec accidentally sent me the genuine leather BROWN model, and that's something that I'm currently reaching out to them about. But the box did include a second (plastic) back cover. I want to say it was the gold one, but since it came in a manilla sleeve, of sorts, and I didn't actually pull it out all the way, it might be the white one reflecting the color of the sleeve. Again, I left that in the box, which is currently at home. But I can double-check it tonight and circle back.
Included in the small box was the handset (with brown leather back installed), a separate plastic cover, a detached battery, a quick-start guide, an EU charger and separate micro USB cable, and a boxed up set of earbuds. Quadbeat 3s, or something like that? I left them in the box as well.
I can snap pics tonight, if you'd like.
I just chatted with one of the CSRs and she told me that the leather back ones do not come with extra back covers. Maybe she just read it from the site, as they are not listed there. I'll definitely be interested in seeing the picture of everything that comes with it. I currently have the T-moile brown leather version that I'm going to return thank the T-mobile B$ about unlocking it (I want to use it on AT&T).
Thanks

Yep, I hear you.
This is the first time I procure my own phone (non-subsidized, out of contract), and I did so primarily because I see how much of a mess the Samsung Galaxy S4 development scene turned into after a couple of hardware revisions. I was lucky enough to get a relatively early AT&T model that retained an exploitable bootloader; and so was actually able to enjoy all the benefits of custom recoveries, custom ROMs, etc. without having to deal with crippled workarounds like Safestrap. I really wanted to avoid any kinds of issues with my new device, so I lurked around XDA for the past week, researched, and wound up going with the EU H815 import from Handtec. I haven't actually tried to use LG's official bootloader unlock method, since I hear it may compromise some DRM modules or some such. Kind of waiting to see what the development scene manages to produce in the coming weeks/months. But not having root is quickly wearing away at my patience, so I might just bite the bullet regardless.
I'll be sure to snap some pics of the phone, packaging, included contents, etc. tonight and try to post them here. I'm not sure what the limitations are for junior members like me. Worst case scenario, I'll upload them to my Photobucket account or something. I've got a long workday ahead of me before I return home tonight, however.

Actually the international H815 model is available on eBay, and in a very good price.
For example here: http://www.ebay.com/itm//281696933232
or here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/191577825455
Prices drop a few dollars a day, so I would wait (and actually am waiting) for the price to be stable, and then buy it.
Neither of them are European version. These are Asian models that are not eligable for unlocked bootloaded (atleast not right now).

Not 100% sure about the "Never MSRP" seller but it's been confirmed that the other seller is selling Asian version (check the other thread). Also, most of his phones are shipped from Singapore.
Edit: Just got the confirmation from "never MSRP" that it's the Asian version H815T.

Wow never thought LG would be so annoying with unlocking the bootloader. It is the same exact model!!
I hope they will allow unlocking quickly for other variants, because these prices are much better.
Well, and what is this model supposed to be ?

I've attached three photos demonstrating what I received from Handtec. Two of them were taken from my old phone, and they came out hopelessly blurry. I apologize for this, as I didn't really think to check them last night. The best picture was taken with the new LG G4 and came out much clearer. This, I think, is the more pertinent photo anyway; so hopefully, no harm, no foul.

First of all, Thanks for the info~! This looks like a really good deal. My only follow up questions is that would you happen to know that is this "FedEx Import Coordinator" who contacted you was from the UK or the US?
I'm from Canada myself so if it's originating from the UK (Handtec), then I think I can safely presume the procedure would be more or less the same. If he's from the US though then I'll have to do some more research.
Thanks in advance for the help~!

Where do you GET a H815EU in the US?

Does anyone know of a reputable vendor that will sell me a H815-EU- the one I can actually unlock bootloader on, from LG directly?
The "international" versions on Amazon aren't reliable- already bought one, and although the box was factory sealed and said "H815", it was a Singapore version that LG disqualified from unlocking. Of course, I'd rather use a 1950 pulse dial landline telephone than deal with the crapware on the US carrier versions (since we can't flash custom roms to defeat that crap).
LG doesn't seem to sell this directly, either. At least not in the US?
I'm sure I could find "some guy" on teh Intarnet that "has one"... but looking for a reliable vendor that will sell NIB factory sealed. I'm not looking to turn this into a solicitation post!
Any recommendations?
Don't know of anywhere in the USA. I had to import mine from Handtec.
Are there any additional sources for the 815EU that ship to US?
Chase bank and I got into a fight over letting me use my credit card at Handtec (the former is now fired, rot in hell) and the latter probably thinks I am a scammer for trying four successively declined charges... I would too, nothing against them.
I ended up getting it from Amazon... forgot you could order simply by doing "amazon.co.uk" rather than accepting the country default... your US login also works, but it won't recognize you if you are signed in from the US and don't do it again for the UK site. Think it was like $26 shipping and duties, which is pretty damn cheap.
Wonderful phone, BTW... I love it.

I looked up my order, and sure enough, that seller no longer ships to the US.
This is the link to the one I ordered: http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00WIYGXBG
It appears one of the leather cased ones has a seller that does ship to the US.
The one I got (bootloader) unlocked just fine, just please note for your own sake that there are a lot of ones claiming to be H15EUs (like the first one I tried, a Singapore edition) that LG won't consider eligible to unlock.
There are probably other countries' Amazon sites with different shipping policies, if you can speak languages other than English... I tried for the low-hanging fruit.

Where to Buy? Canada, Hong Kong or Taiwan?

I will be in Hong Kong from September 10 to 24 with a 3 night layover in Taiwan. I have been looking for the price of the device in Taiwan but I have not been able to find it. I called a shop in Hong Kong who told me their version is Snapdragon not Exynos.
Question:
The CDN version has the $200 off trade in phone promo. Obviously in Asia there is no promo for that, however there is really no tax in Asia.
Anyone know the price of the device in Taiwan? Is it worth paying a premium ($200 ish more) for an Exynos model? Anyone know where I can buy it when I'm in Taiwan; I can't find web stores from Taiwan providing information re: this.
If I buy in Asia, can I get warranty servicing from Samsung in Canada?

Thanks!

Definately worth the extra cash for a bootloader unlocked exynos device.
I dont think sammy Canada will warranty service a non Canadian device though or even if they can as the hardware is slightly different.

The Samsung store sales rep who sold me the note 7 in Canada told me that my warranty will only work in Canada and not internationally.

If you've got something in writing from Samsung (which this website certainly is) that will trump whatever any sales rep says.

The international warranty is only mentioned in the South Korea website. The Canadian website has no mention of it.
I guess make sure to check what kind of warranty is offered in the country of purchase because there may be differences.

I just realized that the link I provided says "Samsung Mobile Computer" not mobile phone. I think we should check the fine print before purchasing abroad, if that's important. If I call Samsung Canada's warranty servicing and get an answer I will post it.
Here is my conversation with SS online:
C: Hypothetically, if I purchased a Samsung phone abroad, and there is a problem with it, can I submit the repair to Samsung Canada?
SS: Thank you for waiting. I'll be with you in just a moment.
SS: No, if you have purchased the phone abroad and would like to get it repaired in different country, you need to contact local service technicians. Samsung will not repair the phones purchased that are purchased in different countries.

Purchasing Mi6 in the UK

Hey guys, I'm living in the UK and was wondering where the best place to purchase this phone from was. Best in terms of price and customs fee. I've seen various places mentioned but am still a bit hesitant as I've never bought anything from outside the UK before and have no experience in doing so.
Also, those of you who have bought this phone from overseas, how was the experience? Did you have to pay a customs fee and if so, how much was it? How did the phone arrive? On top of never having purchased from overseas, customs fee etc, I'm also worried about how the phone will arrive. Was it packaged properly, or was the phone damaged in any way? Did Google Play come preinstalled and does the phone work on o2's frequency?
I know I'm asking a lot of questions but I've been meaning to upgrade from my Moto X Style and always come back to this phone.
If the community could answer my questions, I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks you!
I got mine mi6 from honorbuy
https://www.honorbuy.com/182-xiaomi-mi-6
They have it in stock at their warehouse in italy.
Not the cheapest tho, but no taxes makes it ok.

So no customs fee to ship to UK? Great! How did the phone arrive? Was the condition as expected? (perfect condition, no flaws whatsoever)
And I'm assuming by the "global rom" mentioned in the title, it comes preloaded with Google Play and the rest of the Google apps?
Thanks for the speedy reply, buddy.

Was well packed and was delivered by DHL. Took 5 days from order to delivery. Brand new and all seals intact. I did not check what rom it came with, unlocked bootloader, wiped and installed linage directly
Maybe you can buy one from Taobao, but I don't konw there's someone want to show you how to take a phone to the UK from China or not.
Hi,
I ordered mine through Gearbest, came with the global ROM which I've stuck with so far. It takes OTAs.
It does take a bit of getting used to after coming from Lineage, but with Nova launcher on top it's passable.
As for customs duties, I used their standard free shipping and it wasn't stopped. It came very well packaged; lined jiffy bag and all that.
Timing-wise, ordered on the 22nd June and received 4th July; so if you can wait it's a good option.
It was received perfect, all seals intact. They threw in an adapter for the plug as well. One in the box isn't a UK plug.
A quick Google shows it's on Gearbest at the moment for £335. That's a tenner cheaper than I paid!
Overall, I'd do it again (though hopefully not for a while yet!).
Ordered my first Xiaomi (Redmi Note 3 SE) from Honorbuy.
- Shipping was really fast (2-3 days) but very expensive (about EUR 40,-)
- Packaging was just a plastic bag, box was little damanged on the corners and it came opened
Ordered my next Xiaomi, the Mi 6 from Gearbest on June 25 and it was delivered on July 10. Bought it during a flash sale for EUR 326,-
- No custom fee nor shipping cost via Priority Line > Germany Express
- Came with Global ROM 8.2.2.0 (NCAMIEC), google services preinstalled and sealed
- Packaging see screenshot below
- My experience overall was pretty satisfying, i could track the whole process.

That is VERY strange indeed. That site is who I got my Ceramic blue from - and all the official papers INCLUDING a very official warranty and pre and post delivery phone call verification from.
They were very thorough, all the way to certifying my IMEI numbers and providing a service number because Xiaomi really doesn't have centers in Africa.
So, I really don't know what to say. Who did YOU call...?
P.S. Just did a check and you are indeed CORRECT! So I may have been lucky....always use PayPal.
Xiaomi do say they are a recognised vendor though and the phone is 100% legit and they will honor warranty BUT only through them because Xiaomi is not OFFICIALLY in Kenya.
Heh. I guess this is everyone's problem eh, with Xiaomi. As far as I could tell, they're only OFFICIALLY in China!
So, for reference, they did mention Gearbest also but none of these are official Xiaomi.
They have an official store in Singapore (heh....!)
The long and short of it was that if you are buying from abroad, there are a number of vendors they deal directly with and exchange imei and serial no. information to make sure as far as possible that only genuine products are being sold. They wouldn't tell me who, only that they would recognised warranty from this site but not directly from me.
So actually - I have to deal with Xiaomi Devices directly if I encounter repair/warranty issues.
When I checked back with Xiaomi Devices they will replace/refund if returned within a month completely. After that, for a year, warranty still stands as free BUT you pay for shipping.
After that they offer support until the phone dies as just a regular support/dealer/repair.
I got the phone from China through Hong Kong so they are Chinese based - which explains the very awkward communication - not dodgy in my eyes, very sincere, just.... Very Chinese!
I did ask how to buy directly from Xiaomi and they said they didn't think it was possible but they'll get back to me.
One thing though. Xiaomi direct is concerned with China sales. The reason they accept warranty from these 'partners' for international sales is that these partners are obliged to make sure that the phones they sell are international. I am not sure what that means but I think the suggestion was that if I shop from XIAOMI direct, I get a Chinese device and it's up to me to International-ise it.
All very obscure. So yes, Xiaomi Device is NOT Xiaomi.... You will have to make your choice.
I have bought from Gearbest before but this lot feel more thorough....they also had the Blue Ceramic almost immediately, day one, and their shipping is DHL and very quick.

[DISCUSSION] Shall we expect Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals?

I was looking at possibly purchasing the ROG Phone II soon, but Black Friday and Cyber Monday will be right around the corner by the time I know for sure. This would be the first time I've considered Asus, so I'm wondering if I should hold off until those sales, or if any sale would be worth waiting for. I looked at some of last year's sales from them, and it looked like most prices were $50-100 off similar priced products, and I didn't see any that included the original ROG Phone.
Should we expect more of the same with sales that aren't all that special, or is there a chance they could surprise us with something worth waiting for?
I'm keeping my eye on this while I wait for any surprise Black Friday sales. I don't know if this site is reputable though.

From what I've read, that site is reputable in that you'll get your product, but understand what you're getting. They are falsely advertising that this is an international version. In reality, they are selling the spec limited China Tencent version that's been "unlocked" (their wording, which I'm assuming means had the global ROM flashed). You can tell by the lower 128 GB/8 GB specs and their sample photos even show the Tencent logo on the back. For us in the U.S, that means less frequency and carrier support than what little the true NA version has, and no warranty because it's a grey market item that's been tampered with.
I know a lot of U.S. users have the Tencent version, flashed it to the global ROM, and are happy with it despite its limitations, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. After learning more about the whole GSM/VoLTE issue since I made this thread, I'm having a hard time even recommending the NA version to anyone in the U.S. I've pretty much decided I'm not going to be getting it.

Gear best seems pretty reputable.
Other user is right though. You would have to send it back to china for warranty (through your vendor) or just hope asus will take care of you (which in my case they usually have, I buy a lot from them)
If I was considering the 8GB version, I would definitely try to look for the indian 8gb/128gb model. I think It says ROG on the back instead of tencent and has an all glass back instead of metal and glass.

Something new? I want one for Europe... Spain, concretely. Where to buy?
For what it's worth, they do have a couple black Friday deals now.
https://store.asus.com/us/category/blackfriday
It looks like they are offering the Tencent version in the U.S. Officially now? I guess instead of improving the offering, they want to sell us a worse product that is barely useable on our networks. I'm losing more and more respect for that company any time I look up info about this phone.
Plus it's sold out. Have they ever had any in stock? Lol

Pretty much the lowest price I have seen so far. Gearbest, AliExpress, banggood - all those stores have higher prices at this moment.

That's the China Tencent version, which I wouldn't take even if it was free. The NA version is already obsolete by design with limited band support and no VoLTE or Wi-Fi calling, so why would I want something worse than that?
I do need to correct myself, though. The Asus black Friday page is selling the original ROG phone, not the ROG phone 2.

I do not care about the design, both functions you have mentioned are not supported by my mobile provider and it supports all bands here, so I guess it's just up for personal preferences.
Most people I have contacted in EU are getting the Tencent version, it just gives us most of stuff we need.

I see on your profile that you are in Poland. Black Friday is a U.S. retail event, so that's why this thread is focused on the North American version of the phone. I understand you have different priorities, but our GSM networks are scheduled to be shut down within the useable life of the phone. At that time, the ROG Phone 2 will no longer be able to make a phone call in the U.S. The only way to make calls would be through VoLTE, which Asus has said they don't intend to enable on the NA version. It's not a personal preference issue here, it's a basic usability problem.

That's right. But the Black Friday is now much more popular in other countries (althrough the deals are not somehow interesting, mostly fake discounts), that surely wasn't a thing some years ago. However, there was 1 person from EU asking about Black Friday deals too, so I just wanted to point to some available discounts.
Didn't know about the scheduled network shutdown in US, that explains why US buyers avoid the Tencent version.

And I didn't realize Black Friday was a thing elsewhere now. Hopefully it's not as violent as it sometimes is here in the states. XD
