So I'm getting my G4 today after work from Sprint. Driving about 2 cities just to cop it. But then I came to realize that there is no root yet. But the only reason I'm rushing to get this phone is because of the promo bundle. Otherwise I would have just stuck with my G3 until root was here and a working twrp. By the way, nobody speaking on a twrp without unlocking the bootloader.. If I unlock it, it voids warranty. But what If I were to unlock it and have insurance on Sprint? Would they know? Or should I just throw the phone when it bricks and just go to Sprint for a replacement lmao & is there any word on tethering? The g3 didn't tether without root. Had to use WIFI Tether Router apk. I'm wondering if I should stick to paying just 90 a month for my unrooted G4 with my unlimited everything plan or just miss the promo and stick with the G3.. Also, I see all of these "lag" and "overheating" problems from everybody with the T-Mo variant. I'm kind of second guessing those problems due to the fact that you guys were the same ones that had to do a few first day returns due to problems. Any chance that Sprint would have the same exact problems or is it just a universal thing with the phones? Because I know carriers alter the software a bit. Only reason I really use root is for lucky patcher and tethering. Or am I just asking noob questions? lol
I picked it up and as a power user, I feel clipped without root. It is a great device though. No complaints about lag or over heat. If root is a must for you, buy to get all the promos and switch back to g3 till root is established. Im gonna try to stick it out with no root. Its just that cool in the hand...

I've had the Incredible 1 & 2, Rezound, DNA, Galaxy Nexus, G2, G3 and now this phone. Its the best out of the bunch (except for the stock Nexus software and development). I dont have any of the problems other people have.

Are you buying from a Sprint store? Are you just after the LG promo? It runs until June 30 i believe so you have time to wait on root. The best buy promo runs until July 4 if you are considering buying there, so plenty of time as well.
Personally the phone is good enough to have on hand and wait on root while enjoying the phone.

My buddy works for Verizon corporate here in Southern California. It will be available in stores here March 25th, Tuesday. Can't speak for the rest of ya but i'm sure this gives you a clear picture, no BS here. Personally i'm still gonna wait out a few weeks to see the online reviews and what not. Don't get me wrong, i'm buyin this mofo. Just saying, nice to see all the reviews, give the case companies time to actually have cases in stock to order and ship, etc. etc. Sometimes first product runs have issues as we all know so just going to wait a few to see how it goes then diving on in! Can't wait, specs that are confirmed are enough for me to buy hands down!

i did chat with support the other night and he culdnt find it in the system and he disconnected the chat before i could ask if i culd give him the fccid#
but if it is out tuesday im going to get one anf hopefully they will have all the colors. i dot know how i feel aout the gunmetal

I hope its the m8 sometimes i walk into these tmobile reps and its like they dont know ****... Either they are really dumb or they play dumb... I walked in a tmobile store yesterday and asked and they aswell had no damn clue of what i was talking about... This is very frustrating and depressing because i dont know whether to be excited for this phone yet or not... Oh well hopefully someone will leak the tmobile inventory tommorow..

Ask them about the S5. I think people forget that Samsung's carrier is T-Mobile literally. Reason why T-Mobile were one of the last to get the M7, pushin those Samsung devices hard as their number one baby! I think if T-Moblie didn't have Samsung the way they do they would be out of business by now or a pre paid Virgin mobile type of company. How Sprint is still in business is beyond me.

April 14th
This is my first android phone on verizon before this i had the iPhone 5 for 2 years and before that i was on sprint with the evo 3d which was rooted... i didn't know it was a mission to get verizon phones rooted. Now im checking the forums everyday like 3 or 4 times a day to see if anything new has come up for root. Im getting desperate lol. People that have had previous note devices on verizon, did it usually take this long?

Don't count on this phone being rooted on Verizon. If it's that important, you may need to switch phones/carriers. It's unfortunate.
It'll be rooted, just have patience. People are SMART around here, and they'll figure it out. It's still a fantastic phone as it is.

I don't doubt that the N4 will eventually have root.
I think the issues as stated is that CF needs an unlocked bootloader, which means either we get an unlocked bootloader (which I really doubt) or someone finds an alternative method. So yeah, nobody can predict the future, but this isn't like other phones like say on Tmob. There are more obstacles people with AT&T/VZW need to overcome. Saying otherwise at this point is very misleading to potential buyers and retail owners.

How patient are you? it might get root within a year maybe. want recovery and root buy a developer edition
I think the note 3 just got root this past summer, and it was released Sept 2013, so that would be 8-10 months after release.

From the what I recall, the Note 3 had root last year sometime. I remember this cause I was using one along with safestrap so that I could flash ROMS.

If only it were that easy. Unfortunately Samsung's DE program is a nightmare and they can't seem to keep them in stock. I would happily sell my phone today for $550 and order a DE for $700, but its not even an option.

I had the g2 and I believe the boot on that one is still locked. They used this loki walk around thing.. any chande this can be done with the n4... anyone know about this?

I used this on my Note 3 and it worked really well! It's a great recovery replacement. Unfortunately you will need developers to build their roms to support MultiSystem.
I haven't tried this on my G4 because of the lack of MultiSystem roms for it. I haven't even been able to get FlashFire to work with my G4 (it may have been the file, I tried to flash to 60 FPS mod in flashfire and it failed, it didn't cause any issues, it just didn't flash like it was suppose to).
I am really hoping for a Bootloader unlock soon, or something similar to safestrap. IMHO MultiSystem works great, but SafeStrap was a better, and easier to use solution!
FlashFire works. I'm just waiting on the roms!

The G4 has been out for a year plus. I don't understand your 6 month thought? Verizon also does early upgrades. I just don't see an upgrade worth the money over my G4 or V10.

May 2015 for the G4.. I like my v10 better. My S7 edge is okay but not worth the upgrade to me.I am planning for the lg V series upgrade or note 6.
I have until August of 2017 on mine. I upgraded to the iPhone 6 plus in August of 2015, then sold it for $500 and bought a brand new opened box G4 for $300 in February 2016. So my payment plan was for the iPhone, but in the end, I'll be paying $200 less total.
Just curious if there is a possibility of getting root for PHE.
I am also in the same boat. Ordered phone on 9/30, shipped on 10/5 with PHE. I was hoping that it will ship with PH1 as everyone else has said, but I lucked out.

From what im reading they are shipping with ph1. You just have to be carefull when buying from Verison when they activate it they dont take the update. In my case i ourchased feom swappa. The original owner did the update.

The stupid guy who processed my exchange updated my phone. I went to look at Bluetooth headsets, when I came back the phone was installing update. I almost made put it back in the box and give me another one lol

Mine was shipped for online order, directly to home. No humans involved in activation (Besides myself). I even removed SIM before turning the phone on for the first time, so there was no accidental upgrade taken.
So answer to your question is probably yes. The next batch of phones that will ship in October 2016 onwards will have PHE. Will have to wait and see if anyone else reports it.

I just exchanged my phone in hopes of not getting phe already installed. But it had it out of the box. I would love to have root now. Id donate $50 as well for someone to help us phe updated with root access.
So we got $120 for PHE root.
I never upated my note 4 dev edition from kit kat with root. Never needed to. If i have root now for phe ill never update to nugot. No need to.
Ill be fine with my rooted marshmellow note 7 for 2 years until the note 9 comes out.
I also just got a new phone and pulled the SIM before turning it on. It had PHE installed from the factory.
I will donate $50 for root of PHE.
Coming from the G5, I have to say I like this phone a lot. Seems to have better battery although I should wait a couple days before commenting on that. Runs just as speedily. I like the bigger screen for two reasons. I have fat fingers that have trouble typing on little keyboards and my old eyes don't see up close like they used to. I like the G5 better for the way the fingerprint sensor is placed. Also, I am not used to the physical home button yet, but I think that will be no big deal after a few days. Overall pretty happy. Also, I really like the water resistance. Sorry for the off topic rant here.

The sad thing is, you probably wont get a chance to root PHE... You CAN'T downgrade. The firmeare we install is a leaked sprint firmware that, again, cant be flashed on PHE because it is PH1. We were probably very lucky to even get that firmware leaked in the first place. If another userdebug firmware gets leaked, then woopdeedoo. But until then, no there is no root. Money isnt the problem for people, its the fact that Verizon locks these damns phone so tight that even if we force it to root on their kernal, it usually boot loops. The best chance we have is slim to none, but a Nouget root would be better. If you asked about a root for PHE in the PH1 thread and theres no info about PHE root, then theres really no need for another thread. But i guess it doesnt hurt...
The biggest problem for this will be the fact you will see sales halted again shortly and Samsung either doing another recall or scrapping the note

Nice, i wonder if they can use them now. I received a Google VR services update earlier today on the PLay store. I asked on the thread about Verizon people getting it early but no one confirmed.

Yeah I think that update is the only thing holding them back.
Haven't gotten mine yet either, still waiting for it to pop up

VR is useless imo tried it on Samsung and it causes the phone to get so hot and there is not enough content to really enjoy it..

I had the same issue with Samsung VR. 75% of the time I went to put my phone in it, it would tell me phone was already too hot and only thing I was doing prior was surfing the web. I hate Samsung, total disappointment.
I've noticed my Pixel doesnt get near as hot at the S7E
I've been playing with the free gear VR I got with my first Note 7 on my wifes Galaxy S6. As long as you put it on DND and kill any background apps it runs pretty well, even on her older galaxy phone. I think it's pretty cool, and I'm super excited to check out the daydream VR.
Still waiting for my free VR code from the pre-order.
