TWN/TAIWAN V20İ LGD855 - Root Methods Don't WORK :( - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone,
I have D855 INT, version TWN/TAIWAN. v20i officially released in a few days. I flashed v20i kdz file with flash tool, rom is perfect. When I try to root with One Click Root tool or DP Root, DP Tools and SEND_COMMAND script etc. all methods do not works at this time. Is there a way to root v20i? I use both v20h and v20p, I had not any root problems. How you root when you get v20i?
Thanks.

I am not getting error. SU Binary does not installed, so I could not get the root access. I think LG blocked that.

This woreked for me:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/root-g3-pc-kingroot-t3136013
Try several times if you don't get at first

Downgrade first maybe?
I had to downgrade to my carrier's stock ROM for Kitkat and then I was able to root with the methods listed above. Then I could flash a custom recovery with Flashify and flash a nice ROM like Cyanogenmod or something. Proccess took a while as I soft bricked my phone originally haha

D855 TAIWAN V20İ 16GB, didn't work

Thx a lot, it worked for me (the other solutions didn't work).
It failed the 1st time. After to clean it (clean recent apps), it succeed the 2nd time :good:
Then, you can do this to have SuperSU and to remove Kingroot: http://zidroid.com/how-to-get-ride-and-replace-kinguser-with-supersu-app/
(I confirm that it's ok on my LG G3 32g TWN-v20i)

Help.
Any other effective method to root LG G3 32GB D855 v20i-TWN? I Actually tried every method I could find From one click root to manual and king root. Nothing works with my phone. :crying:

How many times did you try Kingroot? It took me about 5 times to get it to work. You must also be connected to the internet. I have the exact same model and it did work after a few tries.

I tried alot of times more that 10 ans different versions of it the latest one and previous kingroot versions. What happens is that when I try to root my phone it gets stuck on 16-18% then the kingroot app closes when I try to open it again it says it failed.

Had to unroot for OTA 10e update and now I can't root again+potential WARNING

I unrooted my G3 D855 to get the 10e update (maybe it is the fix for the shutdowns) but when I tried to root it again with Towelroot v1&v3 it's shows a message "This phone isn't currently supported" also IOroot supports only older versions than 10d.
Did someone successfully root their D855v10e ?
If you can't live without root be careful with updating the G3 to 10e and higher.

You only need to downgrade your device again with an earliar kdz if you want to root your device again.
You can use that new root "purple" or whatever its called to root if the other root options fail.
what are the changes in 10E is it worth updating?

There are two versions posted, one is for the D851 that provides a recovery etc, the other is just a root method.
But, what if I don't want to run your script to root?
Well then, I'd be a little hurt, but you can still do everything the script does manually.
Download the package, and extract it. Open a terminal in the main folder of the archive and run these commands:
Code:
adb reboot --bnr_recovery
adb push ./assets/start_restore /temp/start_restore
adb push ./assets/permaroot.bin /temp/start_restore
adb reboot
That will perma-root you, however there's no protection from doing something stupid or the phone being incompatible. Please be careful!

Issues Rooting Telus (D852) on 5.0.1

I've spent the entire night trying to root my G3 with Telus firmware on 5.0.1, using just about every method I could find on the net. There doesn't seem to be any way to revert to KitKat as I can only find Rogers and Bell firmware for this model, and every root method I've tried appears to go through fine but RootChecker says it's not rooted. Anyone know what to do?

Which method did you use? The first one with the script or the second one where you manually type in the adb push commands? I'm having a lot of trouble rooting my Koodo G3.

Hello rdjg22,
If you are reading this, I need your help.
I have a Fido D852. I recently downgraded it to Lollipop 5.0.1 (used a Telus KDZ file) and managed to get it rooted.
I can't find a proper way to install TWRP on it.
Your link from the post leads to a File not found page.
If you still have the files you used, can you please share them and explain how you got TWRP on your phone?
Thank you in advance,

30e rollback to root device

Hi All! New here and looking to root my device and roll back to 30d to do so. Is there and step by steps as i downloaded thr proper drivers, lg mobile flasher, and the kdz file to perform the down grade. I found thevpost with all the links but am i supposed to just go into download mode and just flash thr kdz and go ahead with kingroot and then flash twrp using flashify as well as supersu? Its been a while i rooted my device.
Yes use KDZ to flash back D85130D then make sure your on wifi oe data .
1. Download kingroot and install
2. Dowbload LG-G3-Flasable-Boot-AUTOREPACK.zip from here. And put on root folder or phone storage . http://redirect.viglink.com/?format...&txt=LG-D85130D-Flashable.Boot-AUTOREPACK.zip
3. Download the latest TWRP for d851. Put on root of phone storage. And download SuperSu latest verison and put on root of phone storage
4. Download Banks Gapps 6.x.x.x. Put on root of phone storage
5. Dowbload and install flashify
6. Run kingroot till you are temp rooted
7. Flash twrp in flashify
8. Reboot into recovery
9. In twrp click install and install the AUTOREPACK
10. Now click back and go to install on twrp and install SuperSu.
Now once all done you are now permananet rooted on D85130D with Super Su. Also you can do the code trick to turn of OTA update google it or you can download a app called disable service and inside the app go to googleplayservices and you will see a bunch of stuff with checkmarks look for the one called systemupdateservices and un check it it will ask for root grant it . the. There you have it no more OTA
Kingroot just won't work for me at all on my LG D851. I've tried repeatedly on numerous occasions within the last 2 weeks and it's the same thing.....No Support for This Device. I have downloaded the apk from different links, direct download, mirror........I can't even remember now from what other sources besides those I used also. What am I doing wrong, it's as simple as hitting the install button (besides the google warning).
I got a G3 yesterday & tried several root methods, KingRoot (this app seems dicey to me, it adds a lot of other "stuff" that I don't want need), Stumproot (which said FAIL system is patched, and PurpleDrake method (which, after finding & rebooting phone, sat at awaiting device for 20+ minutes), and LG_root, where you had to type in the root script (also fail). I have successfully rooted my wifes G3 earlier this year (D851 same model as mine) but this one's a big PITA (ota updated to 30d MM )

Not yet, I sent the phone back & ordered another one. Will update once I get it in my hands

rooting the G3

Been searching high and low to make this work. I have d855 running marshmallow but am in able to root it. Tried several one click ones that has failed (kingroot just ends saying root request and a number just under 30000). Kingoroot doesn't do anything. Iroot I've managed to get the cmd thing to work but not the rooting. Have left the phone with kingroot running to see if this request/adapting thing actually lowers.
Any ideas where I go wrong?
The marshmallow version on the phone may be too new and you may have to downgrade to an older version to root. Which version is currently installed?

6.0 I think the kingoroot page said it could handle it (marshmallow in general)
There are various version of MM so it's important to know the exact version of the phone. Apparently, kingroot can root some early releases of MM based on some threads I saw.
It's an d855 or is there another piece of info you mean?
Look under settings and software information. Marshmallow builds begin with 30x where x is a letter.

I have same problem
Kingroot is not work
V30e-AME-XX
If you can't find a root app that works, a ROM downgrade will be required.
Don't you need to be rooted to do that?
No, root is not needed to downgrade but you'll need to find the correct lollipop ROMs to flash.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64624324&postcount=2
Tried the first option on that thread but I only get update stopped due to an error.
Have tried to install twrp but having problems with adb. I thought the adb kit would be enough to make that work. Any idea what else to try?
Go in general thread and search for root marshmallow 30b that guide helped me root my g3 with kingroot. Tell if i helped
I found (I think) the thread you referred to but it seems to require that you have twrp installed. From reading the twrp website i got the impression you need to be rooted to install twrp? Have tried to load the image file from the SD card but can't find it when I reboot it. Not sure where I go wrong but I cannot get it to work.
You need to downgrade with LGflash tool to v30b and use latest kingroot 5.0. Then kingroot will root your phone and autorec file will flash twrp 2.8.0
Tried to do that (see post above) and it didn't work. No idea why.
Is this the thread we are talking about?
https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/root-twrp-marshmallow-d855-30b-t3286268
Yes and the one at the bottom of page one which tells you how to downgrade to lollipop. The downgrade does not work for me. It only tells me an error occured. The thread you refer to, I think you said you need to downgrade first and the root which I can't do as the downgrade failed.
Try flashing the file v30b from this video and then see if rooting with kingroot works.
Thanks. I'll try that later today.
Account closed so cannot see the file.

Can't root my LG G3 D855 V30d

Hi,
I've been trying to find a way to root my LG G3 since yesterday, yet none of the methods I had found proved to work on my device.
I tried to follow this tutorial, but got a "FAIL" message: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/guide-root-method-lg-devices-t3049772
Same thing happened when I used an automatic script: https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg...t-lg-firmwares-kitkat-lollipop-t3056951/page1
I also tried to root using KingRoot, but it didn't support my device : https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/root-twrp-marshmallow-d855-30b-t3286268
It seems like my device can't be rooted. Any ideas?
Model: D855
Software version : V30d
Android : 6.0 (stock)
Hi,
Downgrade to V30b then use Kingroot.
Ok,
So after downgrading to V30b, I tried to follow the KingRoot method. Unfortunately, the rooting process failed each time at about 70%. I used version 4.5.6, as used in the tutorial. I also tried to install a newer version from the official site, but that app didn't even offer to try to root my device.
Edit:
I was really frustrated, and decided hopelessly to follow your instructions over again. This time it worked. I flashed the kmz again, rooted using KingRoot, and kept going. Thank you so much!
