No more personal dictionary? - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So, is it just my phone, or is everyone else completely lacking a personal dictionary? There is no dictionary in the settings or LG keyboard settings, and even if you install the stock Google keyboard from the play store, there is no where to add words/shortcuts. Is this right? Cause that's pretty horrific that LG disables the Google keyboard dictionary/shortcuts and provides none of its own for you to add words.
PS, I know I can type in the word and click add, but there's still no place to add shortcuts, and no way to manage the words individually. I even have dictionary sync enabled in the latest Google Keyboard, but with no dictionary on the phone, it does absolutely nothing.

Click on word suggestions if it's checked.

LG Dictionary
You also need to click on the text of Suggestions to see the dictionary. However, when you open the dictionary, you still won't be able to create shortcuts. That function is blocked.

I'm not sure about the LG Keyboard (as I've uninstalled it on my phone) but, if you install the Google Keyboard, you can go to Settings>Language & Input. Next, click on the settings button for Google Keyboard and go to Text Correction. There you will find the Personal Dictionary and options to add shortcuts.
Hope this helps.

You can create a shortcut to the user dictionary for the LG keyboard using quickshortcutmaker. You can also use Google keyboard to make entries in the user dictionary with shortcuts that will then work with the LG keyboard.

It's now under Settings > Language & Imput > (your keyboard name ie: LG Keyboard) > Word Suggestions > Personal Dictionary

chinese input on android

how to get chinese input in android? I am new to android.
I just downloaded google input IME from market place and installed, it is enabled in settings(languages), but keyboard did not change in messages and browser input. why?
any other apps will work?
The default way to change input method has been changed in ICS. Instead of long pressing at any text entry field, In ICS you will see a small keyboard icon in the left corner from the status bar when the keyboard shows up, then you can pull the status bar down and change the input method from there.
Google Pinyin IME is average. Some better options are sogou input and touchpal input. Sogou does not support ICS at this moment. But touchpal V5 works flawlessly.
I actually set default keybord to google pinyin, but then I cannot enable default english keyboard. what if I want to try other chinese keyboard? is there a way to enable multiple keyboard?
What if I want stock ICS keyboard to have Chinese? Any way I can do that?
I really like the stock keyboard and I don't want to use third party keyboard if at all possible
Also looking for this option....Surely there must be a way to switch to hand written chinese input via the stock ICS keyboard right ??? I realise that 3rd party apps are available but they are all terrible IMHO. Looking for something similar to how iPhone handles Chinese input....any ideas / suggestions ?
i'm using penpower, it not made for ics, as the writing pad does not fit the whole bottom half of the screen, but it works.
updated, just installed the ics version.
google voice input is the best. i use HK traditional.

touchpal is good too. they got chinese pack and handwriting pack.
go to System Setting > Language & keyboard > System Language. Then, scroll down and check PinYin option. You can choose handwriting too.
Later, when you're at a text box you will can toggle between English and Chinese using a "EN" key at left side of your spacebar.

[Q] Disable XT9

Hi,
Is there a way to disable the XT9 spellcheck?
thanks
settings - language & keyboard - HTC sense input - advanced settings - untick word prediction.
you may also want to untick word completion
if you don't want underline the mis-spelled word, off the Post spelling check.
hi, thanks for the reply, but for some reason Web Prediction on my phone is grayed out and cannot be unchecked.
Any possibility the Trace keyboard in On ? If yes, turn it off, do you selection and On again the Trace keyboard if you want to.
this way it worked, but now but swipe is not working.
I would like that when swipe is used (english) spellcheck is enabled and when not spellcheck is disabled.
or at least a shortcut on the keyboard to switch spellcheck on/off would be good too.

[Q] multiple languages in keyboard

does the amazon keyboard allows it?
i could not find it anywhere. and i am really liking the keyboard, if it wasn't for that flaw. I usually desperately need 2 different languages for any text entry to be useful. ideally 4.

Hi,
I've got the Fire Phone and I use 2 languages, Dutch and English.
Go to Settings > Keyboard > Keyboard language and download the language you want to use, you don't have to select it if it's not the default you want.
Then when using the keyboard, long-press the space bar to change the language

You can add your own words to your personal dictionary so that your device remembers them. To add a word or phrase, including an optional shortcut, follow these steps:
Open the Settings menu on your device.
Under "Personal," touch Language & input.
Under "Keyboard & input methods," touch the Settings icon next to "Google Keyboard."
Touch Text correction.
Touch Personal dictionary.
Select the dictionary you'd like to add a word to.
Touch the Add icon and type your word and an optional shortcut.
You can also add words to your personal dictionary as you're using the keyboard by following these steps:
Type the word using Google Keyboard.
When the word pops in the suggestion strip, touch it. The screen will say "Touch again to save."
Touch the word again to save it to your personal dictionary.

Dictionary has made up words, how do I delete them?

So I must have at some point added the word "yoy" to my personal dictionary accidentally, and now my phone prefers it over "you." Problem is, long pressing on the word "yoy" on the list of suggested words above the samsung keyboard doesn't give me the option to delete it like many other words have. How do I get random fake words I accidentally added out of my dictionary?
If it matters I'm using the latest verizon OTA, samsung keyboard, with swype. Any other info you need I'm happy to provide. Thanks!
try Long Press on the word when it comes up as a suggestion and then you should be able to delete it as a 'learned word'
OR
You can try "Settings - Language and input"
Select Samsung keyboard
Select Predictive text
You can disable it completely, or disable Personalized data, or maybe Clear personal data and see how that goes.
Horrible answers and a terribly frustrating keyboard. I'd love to burn my phone as a result of the horrible dictionary included. Note to the Samsung team that built this dictionary: go hinge, obviously you have no idea what you're doing.
