Crackling/Hissing sound from headphone jack - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I just got my G3 yesterday and really disappointed with the crackly sound coming from the headphone jack. Has anybody else had the same issue? It's particularly bad in the left ear.
It feels like a software issue because if I put the headphones in in a certain way, it causes it to go into "line out/aux" mode with a little jack icon, which causes the sound to be perfect. Otherwise it just goes into headphone mode which sounds like garbage (distortion, crackling etc)
Is there a way to force the G3 to default to line out instead of detecting what's going on?
Cheers for any help!
EDIT: For anyone finding this having the same problem, my issues were solved by Rooting using http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/guide-root-method-lg-devices-t3129197
And then following instructions on http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/help/hissing-noise-left-ear-playing-music-t2804065/page17
I changed the settings to
<ctl name="HPHL Volume" value="17" />
<ctl name="HPHR Volume" value="17" />
<ctl name="RX1 Digital Volume" value="60" />
<ctl name="RX2 Digital Volume" value="60" />
<ctl name="COMP1 Switch" value="0" />
which matches the default aux settings. I still get a small amount of white noise which seems to go when you start music. The important thing is that distortion and noise is gone when audio is playing. I hope this helps someone.

When I bought my g3 I had the same feeling that someting is not alright but then like magic the problems fixed itself or I got used to it. I don't know. Also a lot of people were having this problem but it's I think a hardware problem.

Try the fix at #162
If that still doesn't work try my method at #164
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g...2804065/page17
You phone need to be rooted though.

This actually worked! Though the link is: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/help/hissing-noise-left-ear-playing-music-t2804065/page17
I rooted my lollipop build using http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/guide-root-method-lg-devices-t3129197 in case anyone comes across this.

[Q] Mixer Path mods

Greetings everyone, i have a issue well actually more a dislike with my phone i would like to solve it using the mixer path xml file if possible.
First off i have a D852 running Cloudys Rom.
And when im in my jeep and i plug in a aux cable the phone automatically disables the Phones microphone so when i receive a call i can answer and hear the person but they cant hear me cause the mic is disabled .
What i would like to have the phone do is instead of calling the aux cable profile from the mixer path when a aux cable is plugged in i would like the phone to call the headphone or wired headset profile so that way the microphone stays enabled while the aux cable is plugged in.
From what i have read it seems that soundsabout app seems to accomplish the same thing but its a third party app
So does anyone think this is possible trough mixer path xml or am i completely unaware of how this actually works.
Thanks for all your help.
By looking at the mixer path file i see that there are multiple "profiles" such as hand set , voice-headset mic, speaker-and -headphones, and so on . but i have yet to figure out which one is called upon then the aux cable is plugged in.
Here is the mixer path file included in cloudy`s rom.
Thanks

[Q] Soundabout app issues.

Hello everyone !
My M8 went mad today. It recognizes all headphones/earphones except the stock one that came with the device. The stock one works perfectly fine with all the devices except my M8. That sounds really strange, but it did happen.
I googled some forums and found that soundabout app on the play store could solve this issue by routing the audio to headphone jack. It worked.
I was tinkering with the settings of the app. I routed the audio to the earpiece(top speaker) only.
I'm somewhat skeptical that the top speaker now has less volume compared to the bottom one, when playing music/videos.
Does this mean that I have a partly damaged speaker ?
Also, can tinkering the settings damage the hardware(speakers) in any case ?
Thank you for reading.

I think that the earpiece speaker is actually less powerful than the bottom speaker. I use SoundAbout myself as I have an issue with one of my friends old stereo's. The phone doesn't recognize that I have plugged in the aux cable but it only happens with that stereo. So I have to use the SoundAbout app to change the setting to Wired Headphones.
I'm not sure if tinkering setting can damage the speakers, but I have damaged the bottom speaker myself by flashing one of the first CM12 nightly's that came out. The speaker is quite easy to replace yourself and same goes for the earpiece.
Hello,
I have nexus 5 with stock 5.1.1 not rooted.
I started to use soundabout because my phone didn’t recognize AUX-IN from my car audio.
Everything was ok for long time till yesterday.
Now, after I will use soundabout I can’t hear any call conversation. I need to restart nexus.
I am wonder If someone know some similar program that I can test.
Regards from Poland

When you say "my stereo works fine" do you mean the sound is OK when you connect from the headphone socket to a stereo amplifier?
There is a common fault with the P8000 that the connections to the headphone socket are not well soldered, and come off. This can result in the sound becoming echo-y or quiet or not at all. It happened to me and I had to take the phone apart and resolder the connections.
There is a thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/elephone-p8000/help/headphone-jack-issue-t3214547

Permanent High Impedance Mode V35

Small Magisk module that enables High Impedance Mode all the time for our device.
You should notice increased output on high impedance/low sensitivity headphones. Gives my Etymotic ER4SRs the extra juice they deserved (they were 45 ohm so just shy of the 50Ω mark).
Respect the risk of higher overall volume. LG kept High Impedance Mode for 50Ω loads and above for a reason. Sensitive/low impedance earphones (Shures) should be used with extreme caution with this mod. Our V35 should lower the volume everytime a 3.5mm is plugged in but always check just incase so you dont damage your ears or headphones.
Tested on Unlocked Oreo. Flashed with Magisk. Thanks to vl48 as his Dual Speaker install script is used since it modifies the same file. This is why the mod shows up as Dual Speaker in Magisk.
do the speakers on this drain the battery? Seems when playing audio the battery goes faster than i had with other phones. A mod to reduce that might be nice. iirc I was told its due to sound features being on

This mod doesn't affect speaker settings, so nothing would be changed from stock. This only pertains to the headphone jack.
Update
Upon revisiting Oreo and testing this mod the impedance stays the same and the desired effect isn't achieved. However this apparently works for some people according to the poll. Expect mixed results since the same mixer_paths_tavil.xml tweaks for the V30 doesn't work for the V35 (at least not on mine).
If anyone would like to try their hand at it's /System/Vendor/etc/mixer_paths_tavil.xml. Locate these lines and change to numbers shown.
<!-- ESS DAC START -->
<path name="headphones-hifi-dac">
<ctl name="Es9018 AVC Volume" value="0" />
<ctl name="Es9018 Master Volume" value="0" />
<ctl name="Es9018 HEADSET TYPE" value="2" />
</path>
I' can't, mixer_paths_tavil.xml resets at every reboot
would you be interested in trying to develop a dual speaker mod for the v35 too?
the ones available for the g7 do not work on the v35
Ok so i went back to root oreo but i can't install your magisk module, every time i reboot the module disapears... Is it because i use the lastest version of magisk ?

Low volume using Bluetooth or headphones jack in

Who is also facing low volume when using Bluetooth speakers or headphones? When I crank it up to the max it sounds like it's operating at maybe 60% or so. It also happens when I use wired headphones.
I'm using Xiaomi.eu ROM 12.0.7.0.

Yeah I'm getting the same problem with my Haylou GT1 Pros. On my old phone they were much bassier and louder at full volume to the point where I'd have them at 80% max, but now 100% doesn't sound anywhere near as loud. The way I get around this is using Volume Booster GOODEV (available on the Play Store). 11% is enough for me. Be careful not to blow your speakers!

In developer settings there's an option to "disable absolute volume" for Bluetooth. Try that.

That and check through/play with all the sound settings including the buried ones.
Find it... if you do a hard reset it will most likely just crop up again.

Doing this fixed the problem. Thank you for that.
Weird this option is enabled at default.

Audio issues because of settings misconfiguration is a common Samsung issue.
Fun times... and bad sound.

i was facing same problem while using GT1 pro with POCO X3. go to settings and there is a disable absolute volume in developers mode. turn off this option and boom. ur GT1 pro is on its full volume.
You need to go into volume adjustment(after you plug in the headphones" and pick the other preset, over 60...that fixes it
