[Q] Galaxy S3 headphone jack not recognizing headphones WITHOUT mics - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

This is something that just started happening. A week ago, my headphones got jerked out of the headphone jack. When I plugged my headphones in, it didn't recognize the headphones.
After borrowing some that worked, I bought a new pair (JVC Marshmallows off Amazon that I have used forever). They didn't work.
After borrowing two more pairs, I realized that my phone is playing headphones with a mic (three lines on the jack) fine but headphones without mics (with two lines) are not being recognized at all.
I'd really like to get this fixed because I have 5 pairs of the JVC marshmallow headphones (I got free) and I want to be able to use them.

The only thing I can think of is that you might have striped the headphone port

Volume/Separate Control Switching?

Long long.. long ago. I got turtle beach headphones I highly regret getting. The issue is after the speakers caved in I was left with two wires, one that is used to hear in the head phones. Comes with a standard av set attached headphone jack for these turtle beaches and other headphones. Another cord was for the mic.
Now for some time I've been using the av headphone jack cord for surround sound on my ps3 "after hooking it up" then left with a cordless jack. I can attach any headphone inside and I'll get sound. My issue is however I cannot control the volume, it stays on a mid range volume that isn't high or low.
So I was wondering is there an app that can do this by using a duo headset jack plugged into my phone and connecting the jacks? It seems a lot harder than its made to be but it is worth it, if your wondering why I just don't use my headset in the surround sound its because my headphones aren't long enough and the ****ty phones jack plug in I bought is loose on 3.5m headphones.
Is there anything or am I doomed for now?
Edit: here's my example -

[Q] In-car audio and making calls...

I am using an aux audio jack to play music from my Note II through my 2007 Toyota 4Runner speakers and it sounds great. However, when I answer the phone, the caller comes through over the speakers loud and clear, but they cannot hear me at all. I switched from a Note II on Sprint and had no such issues. How can I carry on a speaker phone call using the headphone jack and my car audio while still using the internal phone mic. Again, no problems on my Sprint Note II.

That's strange...I do the same thing (phone connected to aux jack), using various roms, kernels as well as stock and have never had this issue...
Might be helpful to list the things you've done/installed onto the phone for someone to help? Toggle the mute button and see if that works...
It depends on your aux cable... I do the same and I switched from a radio Shack aux cable to one off ebay and it started doing the same thing... The phone detects the cable as if it's headphones with mic

[Q] Aux 3 pole cable to headphone socket issue

On stock kit-kat I had no issue using a 3 pole auxilary cable from headphone socket to my car stereo so i have hands free through the car speaker system.
Everything worked perfectly.
Now i'm on CM12 ... as soon as I plug into the headphone socket with the same 3 pole cable it triggers the google listening app... waiting for me to say something.... then I have to close it 3-4 times after it re-opens again until finally it stops and I get my music to work.
But then other things are triggering the same problem such as answering a phone call.
Something in Android 5 has to be causing this.
My stock headphones work perfectly but of course they are 4 pole and have a built in mic for hands free.
Any ideas......?

Headphones with a mic are not recognised at all.....

Hi all,
So for the last 6 months I've been trying to use my brothers old pair of Trittons with the mic removed to listen to audio since they were the best headphones I could use at the time. They worked fine for about a month, until suddenly they weren't being recognised anymore. For the last 6 months I've been trying all the fixes I've seen on Google. Use compressed air to clean the port, wipe the cache partition etc. I no longer use the headphones so it wasn't a major issue until today, when my HyperX Cloud IIs arrived, and again the problem exists.
The phone won't even detect they are plugged in. It just plays music through the speakers. I've tested the headphones in my brothers iPhone as well as my PC and they 100% work, it is literally just a problem with the phone.
Other headphones I've used that work perfectly: Takstar HI2050s, Panasonic in-ear, Sony in-ear, Beyerdynamic Custom Ones. All of these have the common trait of not having a mic built in (3-pin 3.5mm connector as oppose to 4). It must be something in the software rejecting 4 pin and it's beyond annoying now.
Any help would be massively appreciated
Still not found a solution to this, if anyone knows a fix I'd be grateful

Earphone not being detected when mic broken

Hey guys, had my HTC One M9 a month and a half now and have been using the earphones that came with it a lot. Yesterday on my evening jog the music randomly stopped and i realised that the earphones were no longer being recognised. I tried plugging them into a laptop and a galaxy tab and they were working fine but on my dads old HTC One M7 they also were not recognised. Old apple earphones and earphones for samsung galaxy both worked with the phone. After testing the the jack piece with a voltmeter my brother found that the mic ring was faulty and I came to the conclusion that the phone recognises earphone connection based on the mic sleeve ring.
I was wondering if there was anyway to bypass this detection so that i can get my earphones to work again, I have no need for the mic anyway so it's not such a big deal.
another question is whether or not standard non microphone earphones will work with the phone as I'm considering purchasing RP-HJE120K from Amazon and they don't have a microphone. I've also read that HTC's support CTIA, does anyone know if the OMTP standard is supported?
Thanks in Advance,
Jas
I have a pair of skullcandy headphones w/mic and they work great so i presume any will do.. Tbh there are better earphones out there at a reasonable price compared to the htc ones..
