Border colouring - Galaxy S 4 Mini Accessories

Hey...I am using i9192. My phone fell for approximately 7 times to ground. And I got some (most) of the border silver colour. Is there anyway to repaint it back?

Haha, i rather you take everything apart on your device, select the part which you wanna repaint cos i think its safer that way. I too have "dings" on my S4 Mini, im yet to find a skin for it.

Mine has come nearly 100% off... It was looking weird because some chunks had come off and i decided to sand it all off, it doesn't look great but atleast it looks even now... Now it has a white grey plastic kind of look... I'm trying to find a skin at the moment, let me know if you find anything or get it painted

Try cutting a piece of paper tape to the thickness of the edges, and then painting the color you want the tape and then gluing it.
It's a bit seedy but good.

[Q] Scratching up EVO?

I've seen a few pictures of EVO's where people have scratched off some of the black backing on their evos and it was red.
Is it actually red under there or am I getting trolled? What's a good way to scratch off the black?
http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h156/Pricelss/IMG00508-20100921-1445.jpg
EDIT: Just grew some balls and did it with a pair of scissors. Looks baller as hell.
Goodbye warranty. I have considered doing this though. Is the finish ****ed up or could you just sand it real quick and get it smooth?
It's nice and smooth already around the sides where I scraped it with one side of my scissors.
Around the corners I had to grind it down with a nail file and it feels a little bumpy. It sands out just fine though.
Overall looks way better than I thought.
Hmm...might have to try this
I used a razor blade and held it upright. Kinda like scraping it. Its not perfectly smooth but it works for me. No pics but it looks just like the OP.

Voids warranty?
sent from my evo, *****!
I have a coworker that did this on his old one before he got his 3D. Looks killer. He used fine grade sandpaper and came out perfect.
I love mine. I took it apart and carefully wet sanded just the flat edge around the sides. Looks good with black cover, but I think it looks even better with the white one. Notice the matching J-Fold wallet

That's really really nice! Did you tape off where you didn't sand to get such a nice fine line?

So confirm that scratching the paint off won't void warranty? I'm ready to do this..
No. It was pretty easy as long as you don't go crazy. Once you've got that half of the case apart and in your hand, it's a fairly simple to control what your sanding. I used like 320 grit. If you do take your phone apart, cover up the moisture sticker. Actually, carefully removed mine and put somewhere safe. As far as voiding your warranty, obviously, taking it apart will void IF they know. I made a little black round tamper sticker to put back on the screw that had one. And in fact, I did warranty one like that. They never even knew I was in it. If you don't take apart and sand or scrape off the black, it's not gonna void anything. It's cosmetic.

Nice!! There's some brave souls out there. With my luck I'd screw something up. I'll stick with my case.
it WILL void warranty. my friend is a repair tech at the local sprint store. told her about it a few weeks ago and she says it will definitely void warranty. some techs are cool though and wont care.
Just random question, on the white EVOs, what's the material used for the white on the back, I'm pretty sure it's not that rubber-ish stuff used for the black.
Ok i did that to my evo n it looks nice n all but something happen to my evo that idk i guess i dropped it bc its naked and has no protection but the frame of the phone is loose and its bugging me and i was wondering if i 100% voided my warranty from scratching it off and having it red?

Back cover scratching/staining?

I always use a gel case on my galaxy s yet the back cover still has scratches and sort of smudges which don't go away. It's hard to explain. How do I get rid of them? Where can I get a different range of back covers?

If you're using a case and the battery cover now has scratches, I'd probably blame the case. It could be rubbing against the battery cover and scratching it.
You can purchase battery covers on eBay. Just search! They should be fairly cheap. If you find any good ones, post the links.
Same problem here.
I have to clean up silicone case and battery cover everyday to avoid scratches.

It's probably just the material of the case, as I'm sure not everyone with a case on their phone has to worry about and deal with this.
Personally, I don't use a case and have zero scratches on my phone, screen or body.

Same here, maybe the rubber casing is getting debris inside that are eventually scratching the back?

Yep. This is exactly what's happening.
It's not just scratches though. On the pattern bit in the battery theres some sort of staining. It's hard to explain what it is. l suppose it looks like dried glue

anyone use screen protector?
I am using the screen protector and I can say that it is very first thing a man should do to the phone. It is very hard to put one, as the smallest piece of dirt (between the screen and protector) is seen as big bubble ... Order the cheapest ten pack from Ebay because you will destroy couple of them before you install it perfect.. I had those on my sgs for year, and it was scratched as hell..

I don't think it's grease because it simply does not come off. And the corners of the screen always attract dust

I've tried using baby wipes but it didn't come off
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Well if it doesn't come off, what the heck did you put on your phone? Maybe it's a questonably cheap case and some weird plastic/rubber/alien residue from it has stained your phone? Provide pictures maybe?
Sounds strange, especially since you can't clean it off.
It looks like dried up snot lol but it isn't. I can't be the only one who also finds that the screen attracts too much dust especially in the corners and edges

I don't notice dust at all on my device, ever (unless I'm in working in a really dusty place, which happens, but I generally don't have my phone on me when I am). This could be just a geographical difference though.
Fingerprints are another story. Those are annoying. Dust, however, I don't even notice.

The Sgs screen is gorilla glass which is scratch proof so does not need a protector.
It is possible to scratch with the right tool but the pressure needed will go straight threw any protector too.

Maybe moisture build up?

Custom colored faceplate for SGS3

Wouldn't it be awesome? To buy a gold faceplate off eBay and install it yourself and end up having a shiney new gold phone. Beat that iSheep! But however I don't think it is possible simply because of the way the the phone was designed - and that was thinness first. Samsung has fused all those layers of glass (glass, touch screen, and digitizer[?]) together so we get a thinner product, but harder physical customisations/repairs. I might be wrong though, has anyone here replaced the faceplate/screen of their SGS3? Would it be possible to spray paint even the faceplate without getting the screen too?
What is your guys opinion on the way this phone was designed? (In relation to thinnest VS hard repairs, not how god damn ugly Apple made Samsung design the phone) Also, if you could, what color(s) would you paint your SGS3?

actually.. i would love it if you can post pics. I heard they leave abit of a gap on the side.. wondering how true that is.
Oh, and where did you buy it from? (amazon?)
brush aluminum facial plate frame, i have a thread on this, includes a aluminum home button.

Mercury screen protectors. Leaves a 2mm gap all around the phone so i wouldnt recommend it.

And finally the Aluminize Skinplayer. Aluminium Frame I ordered mine so I'll post pics once I receive it. Hopefully there aren't any gaps. It comes with a Home Button sticker.

I've seen the aluminum cases and they look nice. I'm curious as to if they have a negative impact on the signal strength/ reception. If they don't, I'd be tempted to get one myself!
Yea the housing looks nice. I guess the goal for us all is to have a different colored S3, but preferably without adding bulk to it. The Mercury screen protectors are nice actually, as well as the replacement back cover/housing. So I guess there were more options available that i didnt know about when i started this thread.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
I'm still looking at the mercury protectors but it seems that there are 2 versions. a flat one that leaves a 2mm gap from the edge and a curved one that fits perfectly.
I'm still trying to figure out if there's a way to get the curved one. but that is an option for you.
EDIT: and the housing.. you can always buy the housing and spraypaint it yourself.. or even handpaint it if you have the artistic skills.
I have a bezel and home button with infused "diamonds". No stickers etc. Looks nice with the Pebble Blue screen and battery cover.

S4 Design

Just a question, does anyone's S4 have a little line on the upper right edge(The metal band)?
Also, just a fyi, these plastic battery door are fragile. Somehow, I got a little dent on my battery door right above the T, on the T-mobile logo..
Picture?

Ok here's a photo from another site with what I think you might be talking about.
http://www.sammobile.com/2013/05/09/broken-corner-around-the-display-of-the-galaxy-s4/
Now there's two things here, the line where the fat metal band was fused together/bent around the corners, very faint but visible. There's also a very visible line on the top part of the metal band. This is where the people from the other website were having issues, is one of these what you're talking about?
On my own white GS4, there is a faint line on all of the corners of the fat metal band, but nothing on the thin one.
yep. That's what I'm taking about. Except I dont have 1 on my bottom left.

Yup just noticed..its on all four corners...I think its tge way it was built..nothing to worry about..
Sent from my SGH-M919 using xda premium
Intersting.. Mine's only on top right corner.
Is it leftover goo from the clear tape they used as scratch covers?
Can you scrape it off with a fingernail or use a little rubbing alcohol?

Build quality

Does the bezel is so fragile? I know from my S1 that its scratching easily or peel off, but i have the phone for 2 weeks and a strange dent appeared on lower rigth bezel near the display, but i haven't dropped the phone and Im the only one who is using it. The dent looks more like someone stucked a pencil tip between the bezel and display and some part of the bezel lifted away from the spot.
Edit: Saw now that this is the Note 1 forum, sry for mistake, I have a Note 2.

The bezel on my Note 2 is scratched a little in the cornets but I have dropped the phone, also a tiny part off my screen is scratched but because I lend my phone to my mom and she put it in her purse. But the bezel being separated from the display have never happened to me
