Here is the famous Slimkat 4-4-4 rom built from sources a few hours ago. Changes made to kernel only and they are the following:
Hardened Kernel with the following features:
a. Selinux disabled (don't trust them) and APPARMOR enabled as main security
b. All crypto core features enabled
c. All authenticated encryption modes enabled - CCM, GCM and SEQIV
d. All blocks enabled - CBC, CTR, CTS, ESB, LRW, PCBC and XTS
e. All hash modes enabled including SHA512 and others
f. All ciphers enabled including CAMELIA, TWOFISH, ANUBIS, SALSA20 and others
g. Compression - DEFLATE, ZLIB and LZO
h. Random number generation all options enabled to result in a better generation without CPU wakeups

1. Unlocked Bootloader

5. I recommend that you delete Cyanogenmod original boot animation as it slows down the boot significantly: without it your boot should take about 25 seconds. Once you remove bootanimation.zip in /system/media, you will have a nice vanilla android bootanimation.

OP, it must be terrible to be asked over and over again but I'd be very glad if you could tell what those changes in the kernel that you have introduced mean for the end user. So to speak, what can we expect after installing this? is this more security oriented or would the random number generation is related to entropy stuff and is supposed to speed up the system?
I saw your other thread too, wanted to give it a try but couldn't understand what these changes to the kernel actually mean for a layman.

It is actually both security oriented and system speed based on better random number generation.
First of all, I don't trust Selinux, especially in light of the recent Snowden's revelations. So, selinux is out of this kernel. Instead, you have trusted Apparmor, which has been used in Linux for years. In addition, many newer ciphers, which are in this kernel, were disabled by default -- again think of several 3-letter-agencies that are known for deliberately weakening kernels and operating systems to make it easiers for themselves to break. So, I have enabled those ciphers. Hashes, especially SHA512, which is the strongest, were disabled by default. I have enabled them all. Random number generation: the same.
So, as result, you have a more secure system that is faster, because of better and more random seeding.. If you remember, there is an app on XDA, which the author says, provides better random number generation, but it drains battery, because CPU constantly checks if the pool (of random numbers) is large enough. Here, it is different, because the changes (better and more random seeding ) are on the kernel level. So, CPU does not have to constantly wake up and check...

Of course it is easier to do the kernel only, but I haven't found the way to do that outside of building the whole rom. Plus, in CM roms, I know where to put those changes: row rhine honam_def.conf and if you look at my sources for Black Argon rom, you will find the changes there.. But Slimroms guys use some other file, so I put my .config file in during the build. Plus, for the new kernel to work, you need modules from the rom you will be using it in and roms differ from one to another. So, for now, it is easier for me to build the whole rom.

It's good to see you here. A couple of months ago in the ion forums you were patient and answered a lot of questions I had when I switched from HTC to Sony. Armed with a little knowledge, I was able to find a good used Z1 with an unlockable bootloader.

auto rotate not working
Auto rotate not working anywhere
Yes. For some reason autorotate does not work. I even recompiled the 8.12 version and it still does not work. The Slim original 8.12 is fine. It is also not my kernel, because I am using my kernel with Slimkat original weekly without any problem. I am puzzled as to why it is happening...
The only change in build.prop I made was to add 3 entries regarding rild. You can try to open build.prop and delete those three entries (search for "rild" and delete them). But I don't think rild has anything to do with the sensors.

Installed this 4.4.4 version and it works gr8.. but my recovery is gone
Tried : Z1-lockeddualrecovery2.8.15-RELEASE.installer and Fota.. both states that it works but my recovery never "boots" just stands there with a another light on the phone..
Suggestions anyone ?
Now i have a working 4.4.4 Rom but no working recovery (light changes but recovery never boots, when i press volume)

Kitkat custom roms have in boot.img recovery, which collide with fota recovery. You need to get rid of one or you will have no recovery at all. The easiest way is to erase fota recovery:
Boot to fastboot and do this: fastboot erase recovery; then fastboot reboot. That's it.

Well no, it doesn't, mainly because slim team are still using the stock aosp recovery for now,
also it's really easy to have recovery now, especially if you're using multirom, you already have one

Well, last time I tried to get rid of the CM recovery I could only do it by fastbooting a kernel with another recovery. Trying to flash/fastboot a recovery didn't do anything.

Earphone Port Won't Work!
Hi, the ROM is really awesome.... I just have one problem. The sound won't come through the earphones after enabling root, even after plugging in an earphone, the sound still comes through the phone inbuilt speakers. Is this a known bug?
I do not have that problem I think we recommend you reinstall the rom

It's working fine on my device, how did you enable root? because enabling root from dev options is useless atm
that's why you need to flash SuperSU for now.

Hi Omar,
Thank You for taking time to answer my question. I installed the SuperSU zip file from the link provided by you through TWRP recovery. I first wiped dalvik, cache and data. Then installed ROM, Gapps & Finally SuperSU and rebooted the device. So during installation, if I don't flash SuperSU, then I can listen to music or sounds through earphones.
Just installed it and I'm very pleased.

Crdroid got video playback issues fixed, hope it is fixable for this one now
Rom updated on May 19. This is LP 5.1 release 2. Latest Google/CM/Resurrection sources + all hardened features. Plus cleaned IP addresses (got rid of Google, Level 3 communication, AT&T, Orange, Department of Defense and other shady ips). Also enabled is Volte (enhanced LTE), which is Voice over LTE. This depends on the service provided by your carrier. In the States, for example, T-Mobile provides such services, which include high definition voice. Usually, you need special update done by the manufacturer in conjunction with your carrier. This rom does not need that. Your Z1 is already provisioned for Volte. You will see in Mobile Settings another entry: Enhanced 4g LTE Mode. ALso, in test menu/phone (*#*#4636#*#*), you will see a Volte Provisioned Flag. So, as soon as your carrier starts Volte, you are all set.

In addition to regular hardened features, more than 40 instances of Google IP, Level 3 Communication and Department of Defense IPs removed from sources both for IPV4 and IPV6. Here is Resurection Remixed Lollipop hardened and secure. Built from sources on February 24.
Changes:
First of all, as many know, encryption on lollipop slows down the device to almost unusable. I was able to resolve that. The culprit was Qualcom crypto module and drivers that collide with graphics. In this rom, when you encrypt your device, there is no noticeable slow down at all. Your master encryption key is no longer stored in crypto module (which rumor has it is backdoored anyway), but rather hashed and salted on the drive itself.
1. Modified kernel to disable creepy SElinux and enable Tomoyo security. Now you can safely use Xposed framework and some modules such as Xprivacy, Appsettings and ShowDialpad, as well as many others
2. Modified kernel to disable qualcom module and drivers
3. Disabled creepy qualcom random number generation and enabled all other methods
4. Enabled 256 bit AES drive encryption as opposed to Google's default 128 bit
5. Enabled all ciphers and hashes available in kernel and disabled by default (thanks Sony and Google)
6. Latest CM changes
7. Omniswitch (to be flashed separately after flashing the rom)

INSTALL:
1. Be on Kitkat, rooted with CWM or TWRP
2. Enter Recovery, wipe System, Data, Cache
3. Flash the rom
4. Flash Omniswitch
5. Reboot and enjoy
If you want to encrypt your device, you need to do 2 additional steps before or after encryption. Go to Developer Options and enable "Force GPU rendering" and "Disable HW overlays. Yes, you have to enable (not disable) "Disable HW overlays" option. The latter won't stick after reboot. So, manually transfer the attached init.d script to /system/etc/init.d and set permissions to at least 744. This way the option will be set at boot and you won't have any noticeable slowdown. In fact, I don't see any difference in speed between encrypted and non encrypted device.

Sorry I have to confirm, there are multiple threads (Official/Development) for CM12.
This ROM will maintain root and recovery, right?
I'll flash and let you know if I find any other issues.
Tried it. Works great. Some strange problem with mms though. Could not load them even though data works perfectly. Battery life looks great. Didn't try calling so i can't say anything about the mic.

1. Learn the rule about not posting bug reports without logcat

Well. The first version had 69 downloads. The latest one had 20. Other than the bogus claim about camera foreclosing (by someone who has Xperia Z3) there were no reports of problems. I have been using this rom for about 10 days without any problems...

Warning: All my roms now include a custom script that executes on boot, not at init.d level, which comes much later, but at init.rc. This script disables internet access to prevent data leaking from android system during boot before init.d or your firewalls come in. After the phone is booted and Afwall starts, it resets iptable rules and you then have the internet. Afwall is a must if you care about your privacy and battery life. If you, however, are not going to use Afwall, then delete the following file: /system/etc/crashdod.sh and reboot.

Moreover, rhine devices are no longer officially supported and the honami thread itself is closed. Well, I fixed the simcard issue and built the rom from the latest sources.
Features include: SlimPie, RRO Layers, Customizable QS Tiles, SlimRecents, Slim's Power Menu, Slim's Nav bar, Hardware keys configuration, Animation Control, App Circle Sidebar, Lockscreen Weather, Screenrecorder settings, Kernel Aduitor built in plus more. My usual hardened features include hardened kernel (modified M5) plus removed nefarious IPs pooped by Google all over the source; full network choice in Cell menu; background wifi scanning is disabled for privacy and battery sake; cell network is handled by Android, as opposed to the modem; Volte provisioned; TWRP 2.8.7 in boot image, and much more...
This rom does NOT include the latest CM power scheme change, which causes random reboots and other issues. It is neither in this rom nor in my DU or Jaguar rom. The original power scheme was fine, no bugs, nothing to fix. So, why fix it, especially, that CM and Sony folks are incorporating 5-10 year old changes just now. I am not blaming Sony kernel developers, as they are not given the latest Sony blobs that are used in stock. So, as a result, they are working like kittens in the dark trying to bridge kernel with android and hardware. The same applies to the latest kernel commits including wifi. Prima driver worked fine in my latest Jaguar/DU builds, there were no WIFI issues. Moreover, the latest M5 changes cause multiple errors during build, so, kernel in this rom is stable as of October 8 or 9. This is the best you can get, as I doubt anyone will be paying any attention to lollipop any longer. .

Quick update, since GZR does not support our devices for some time now, they probably did not include the patch for headphones... would you mind to include it? I'm pretty sure that that bug is not present in Jaguar or DU

Thank you. I am now on Tesla and it is hard to say which one is better. Jaguar is a little lighter, though. but Tesla guys have changed some animation timing, so, even if you turn off animation in developer section completely, it still feels a little different. I think Jaguar is lighter and a little faster, but Tesla feels smoother...
Does this and the jaguar ROM have the random reboot problems that Resurrection Remix is having?

Modem Zip never forked for me
Only cm12.1 is working for me without modem,
Either I always get a broken wifi on using modem

I don't know. I only start to see screen irregularities after 3-4 glasses of red wine.

No, it's a boot.img, so, you'll need a laptop...
April 7. New release, Slim 0.18.
1. Accidental f/c of apps, such as browser, gallery and some others has been fixed. Nothing f/c anymore. The interface is fast and smooth. As a matter of fact, this is the fastest among the ones I have tried. Do and experiment. If you are on DU or Lineage, press virtual button for recents and then back to virtual button for home. Do it several times: in other roms, there is a delay. In this rom, the transition is instantaneous. The same is if you want to bring up phone dialer: no delay on this rom.
2. The rom has an interface for enabling/disabling sim cards
3. Recents: some people complained they didn't like Slim recents. If you want vanilla android recents, just disable Slim recents in settings

I am the creator of Jaguar rom for Sony Xperia Z1/Z1c/Z2/Z3/Z3c, which is quite popular. Recently, I have switched to Zuk Z2 and here is my first presentation for this device: Unofficial Slimrom with custom 3.18 kernel.
Everyone knows Slimroms, so I won't be describing much. It is based on AOSP and includes some special Slim features, which everyone knows.
Kernel is a Zuk 3.18 kernel with heavy modifications, including my own taken from Jaguar:
1. Implementation of some features from Grsecurity
2. Yama security enabled
3. Mixed hardware and software random number generation
4. Sleep issue has been completely resolved
Other features that are not in Slim
Magisk is included with open source Superuser, credit to topjohnwu and phhusson
Credit: Slimroms, Davidevinavil for initial device tree and vendor files
Instructions: Keep in mind that flashing this rom will take about 1.5 min longer, because it is zipped the Omni way, i.e., no dat files, but rather the full system structure..

2. In TWRP wipe /system/data/cache/dalvik-art
3. Flash the rom and reboot
IMPORTANT: this rom has a script that runs on early boot that cuts the internet for both data and wifi to prevent leaking. To have the Internet you have 2 options:
1. Install Afwall, set it up, allow access to apps you want to connect (or all, if you don't care), enable Afwall and you'll have the internet;
2. If you don't care that all your apps will be connecting to the Internet all the time wasting battery and leaking data, use any root explorer, go to /system/etc and delete crashdod.sh file. Reboot.. Or you can do this before flashing: unzip the rom, delete the same file (crashdod.sh), rezip and flash...

Camera: I haven't touched anything, so this is Slim's Camera2. And it works fine: video doesn't stop after 30 seconds unlike on other roms...

Actually, you were right. I forgot to mention (and I have already updated the OP), that the rom has a script running on early boot that cuts the internet to prevent data leaks. You have 2 options, depending on what you want, described in the OP...
Can you port stock ZUI camera and put in this rom?
I tried to but failed.
I guess its possible cuz naptha included it in his aosp 7 rom.
There are plenty roms but all with bad camera

The best camera for this and other roms is Open Camera. I had stock camera for about 2 days and I didn't notice any difference between stock and AOSP, especially now, when video recording no longer stops after 30 seconds...

Volte has stopped working with r26 and up. And generally, there are problems with March security patches, which broke a few things. But we'll resolve that...

Great rom
I will keep an eye on that rom one of the best for our device.
I have only one issue, things slowdown when scrolling through Google+. The stock nougat rom has the same issue. Keep up the good work
Nice rom. Smooth and minimal. Haven't encountered any bug in my usecase. Will keep an eye on the development as slim has always been one of the favorite roms for me. Also, a different take on kernel and features is nice to see. Good job!

Everything is smooth because hardware overlays are disabled by default in framework.
By the way, Jaguar N for Zuk Z2plus is almost done. In addition to other features, you will have alucard, darkness, and nightmare governors. You will also have Zen decision hotplug, as well as vibration sensitivity adjustment. Also, slim recents and memory ram bar; a switch to disable/enable clipboard access; hardened bionic with runtime permissions set to read only, so that third party apps can't manipulate android...

can u reproduce this one issue, things slowdown when scrolling through Google+?. The stock nougat rom has the same issue. Hope u can fix it
