[Q] Did HTC remove ZOE Cam on Play Store update - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all
On the last HTC Camera update on the play store, Ive noticed that HTC have removed the ZOE camera option and a few other video options on our M8.
I know the fixes says adds RAW setting on M9 and fixes for M8 EYE.
Does this mean HTC are no longer updating for the M8, or have they moved the ZOE camera, so should I not install the update
Any advise.

They removed the ZOE cam. Yes, its a disappointment, and plenty of folks here have complained about it (including myself).
It seems that in making the software consistent and unified between the M8 and M9 (and M8 Eye?) they removed a useful feature for the M8.

M8 Camera mod

Is there any WORKING camera mod for the HTC M8 ?
HTC camera has lots of nice settings and allows a great level of control, but what really piss me off is the level of compression in the photos.
I've tried Jishnu's camera mod V4, installed from twrp, but it doesn't seem to work because videos are still recorded at 20mbps.

[Q] Zoe Camera?

Does anyone know what happened to the Zoe camera? looking for the functionality to take a "Zoe" and then choose the best faces or save a frame of the "video" as a picture... just like on the m7 and m8. Surely HTC did not remove it from the M9?

I thought that was only a feature with the UltraPixel Cameras, which as we know, the M9 only has on the front?
I did notice that you have to add Bokeh, Photo Booth and Split Capture modes on the camera screen, but no more Zoe.
BTW, you can take a burst (20 quick succession photos) and still choose best shot.
There is no independent "Zoe" camera (I don't even remember that being on my M8.
You compile Zoe's from the Zoe app from pictures in your gallery.

He's talking about the Zoe camera Capture, not the Zoe video creation app...
Go into your stock Camera, press the button that has 4 circles in the lower-left of the screen (as you hold it in portrait mode). Stock it comes with Camera, Selfie, and Panorama. You can add the three modes I mention above, but on the M7 and M8 there was an option for Zoe, which took about a 10 second video that you could do all sorts of effects with.
I'm hoping it wasn't a Ultrapixel only (hardware-based) feature and that someone can add it once we get S-Off and root. The Harmon Kardon was software-based, so one can hope!
It seems, that they either removed Zoe camera from M9 with some update, or there were no feature at all.

[Q] Camera preview default goes to timeline not just camera shots

Hi there,
So I noticed recently (I think after updates...) that when I preview my gallery via the bottom right corner in the htc camera app, it now previews all of my photos (aka the timeline section and includes screenshots, downloads, whatsapp videos) rather than just previewing my camera shots album (photos taking only with camera).
I was under the impression that before it would only show my camera shots when I use the gallery shortcut via the Htc camera app. I tried installing previous versions and had no luck.
Basically I really don't want it to go through all my other folders when just trying to do a quick preview of recent photos! I could put .nomedia in all of those folders I guess -- but I still want them in my gallery app, just not when doing a quick preview of my camera shots.
Anyone know if there is a place to change it? Thanks for any help
Htc one m8, most recent version htc camera and gallery. On lollipop 5.0.1.
I also hate this change.
I don't want to see all of my whatsapp, facebook, etc. images in camera preview.
Does anyone know how to change this?
Thank you
I hate it too.. Facing this issue on HTC one m7 running kitkat.. Anyone knows how to fix it?

You should look for a solution in the M7 device section. Applying fixes mean for other devices may not work, and may even harm your device.
Also, Kitkat is very old, and that may be part of the problem.

Google Camera port with HDR+ works on HTC 10!

Hello everyone,
I just want to share info that Google Camera with HDR+ is working on HTC 10. The camera version that works on our device is V2.1 - Download
Here you see two versions of picture:
using stock HTC camera: https://imgur.com/a/4LGCO
Google HDR+ camera: https://imgur.com/a/6Tx93
yes, but low light performance suck. much noise
Please visit the HTC 10 Camera Thread, we've been discussing the different versions and best settings for them. The latest releases (based off from 5.0 and 5.1) provide a much better photo than the older ones.
