Image corruption using HDR - ZenFone 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I took some pictures today with my phone and noticed image corruption while using HDR mode. I'm using version 2.19 and have a ZE551ML 4GB 2.3GHz.
I don't know if the image corruption problem is a bug in the current system version, as I have not used it with any previous one.
You'll find a sample of a corrupted image below:

Really strange...never have this problem. Camera level of our phone is not very well, but not noising like that. You can try to clear cache of camera app

I've been testing the camera, and the problem seems to be random or maybe related to lollipop memory leak, as the it does not show sort after a reboot.

I had this problem previously. I don't know the cause. I could see the thumbnail in the camera app but in gallery the pasir was a plain green and brown page.
I had a pure black image as my home screen wall paper
I cleared the data and cache of the gallery app. Home screen wall paper changed to lock screen wall paper but the issue with the camera on HDR mode was gone.
I then used another wallpaper on the home screen.
I don't know if this can solve your problem.
Cheers!

The release notes for 2.19.40.20 indicated they fixed the occasional green line thingy. Yup..I kept the pixel master app updated.

Now, Google has updated its camera app to version 2.2.024, and once again, they have ported previous camera functionality to the app. The two main features that today’s update brings are support for a camera self-timer (either three or ten seconds) and a new option to change your image capture aspect ratio from the default 4:3 to 16:9. In addition, there are a few other, more minor tweaks such as a new prompt upon first launch that lets you select between full sensor (4:3) and cropped sensor (16:9) capture, as well as a new pop-up that lets you know about the camera settings menu when switching between modes.

There's also 2 new options in panorama mode
1. Square panorama
2. Fisheye panorama

Does the update fix the random reboots on the Nexus 4 device?
I still have reboots also in panorama and photosphere there is sometime problem with orientation
The options on the panorama mode doesn't work but doesn't mind..the reboots i think it's kernel and rom related..in psx with moob i don't have not even one reboot!!

Guess these random reboots must be caused by something else because I never had any random reboots on Nexus 4 with this Camera app running CM11
i dont have any random reboot with this camera app
so perhaps that the problem is not from it..
My N4 would reboot after every picture especially after using Flash....too much UV, so i gave it some Voltage
Thanks, will try it as soon as I get home.. :victory:
Thank you for the APK
you're welcome guys

Anyone get weird graphical glitches in Gmail app?

Attached a screenshot. This has been happening for a couple months now, maybe a bit longer.
I don't think it's a hardware issue as it really only happens in the Gmail app. Also, not sure it would be captured via screenshot if it was some kind of loose connection.
Doesn't happen anywhere else that I can think of off hand. Lasts for about a second then clears up on its own.
It has persisted over a couple builds at least. Some from clean installs as well. I root the phone straight away, so next time I'll try stock for a bit to rule any of that out.
Hoping it's not just me.

Yep, same bug here and only with Gmail app http://imgur.com/rjAZE9J
Yep, I'm getting the same
Those occur for me as well, that's why inbox is my choice of app
I was getting to. I sideloaded the march ota yesterday (that has the performance fixes) and it is no longer occuring. Not sure if the two are related, but that is the only change thing that has changed for me. Was definitely annoying..
Had the same on 6.0.1, moved to android N and t desapired

unfortunately only with Android N the problem goes away, with MHC19J is still present
Glad I'm not the only one and my device isn't defective. It's a minor annoyance knowing that now.
Happening to me as well, on stock. Haven't gotten the March ota yet.

Weird. Definitely gone for me after applying the March ota. Did you wipe the cache partition after applying the update? I always do after any update.

flash-all.bat every Factory Image.
If you have not yet seen the glitching on the MHC19J, not try to reproduce it with open/close Gmail, closing all recent apps and re-open Gmail... because you could have a nasty surprise

Weird back cam issue when holding phone vertically

Hey fellow OP5T owners,
I recently upgraded to BluSpark r106 (probably completely unrelated) on OOS 5.0.4 and today I noticed that my cam has a weird bug on the bottom of freshly taken pictures when holding the camera vertically (stock cam).
It does NOT happen when I am holding it horizontally, and sometimes it doesn't occur when you switch to the gallery fast enough after taking the photo.
It also does NOT happen in portrait mode at all, but when I'm holding it vertically in Pro mode and in normal auto Picture mode.
Video is not affected in any way.
To me, it looks like the processing of the picture gets messed up because the pictures come out fine in the gallery after taking the photo, and after a very short timespan, the artifacts pop up in the final picture.

I'm assuming you're using the standard, unmodified camera app that comes with OOS. If that's the case I would suggest you download any of the third party camera apps that are available in the Play Store and see if you can replicate the same problem. If the problem does not appear on another camera app, then it's almost 100% likely that is a software issue related to the camera app and the kernel might be a possible culprit.
If that's the case in your case I would wipe dalvik/cache and flash stock kernel and see if the issue is resolved.
Same issue with third party camera apps like Open Camera and the Nokia Cam that floated around here somewhere.
I'm now dirty flashing stock OOS 5.0.4, then check if it solves the problem and then go back to modifications.
Thanks for your input!
Edit: I tried it out twice now, both time same results, the issue is solved with a dirty flash of OOS 5.0.4 and Magisk, and is replicatable by flashing BluSpark r106.
It seems to interfere with the cam, especially when using touch to focus.
Same here. Thank you for your post! I was worried that it was hardware related.

April Security Update - UI Issue

Hi all,
i recently applied the latest April OTA update on my Pixel 2 XL.
So far, the update appears to be fine and the only niggling problem I have with it that i've noticed is superficial.
Even after factory resetting twice, i can't seem to remove the transparent black borders from the top statusbar and navigational bar on the Google Now page.
Before the update these were immersive and 100% transparent.
Can anyone identify why this has happened and how to fix this?
Please see the attached images:

Hmm.... so it's not just me then. So maybe this is intended by Google maybe to protect against potential screen burn or something?
Looking at the Change log notes for the April release, it doesn't mention anything about the UI changes for the statusbar or navigational bars being modified.
I'm really surprised that no one else has mentioned this...
I find it really annoying, preferred the way it was before and I don't want to root an downgrade to previous release
I didn't even realize it until you mentioned it. It's only in the Google feed though right?

Well now they have light system theme and dark themes which is detected by your wallpaper. Hence why your pull down changes from light to dark. The light theme now feed doesn't have they dark box's I don't think

Using a light wallpaper has the same effect, borders are still visible.

How to hide green label of direction GMaps?

I use Android 9 on my radio and the latest GMaps. When I start to navigate the big green label of directions covers 60% of the screen. How to delete it or turn it off? Thank you in advance

The culprit is likely your low screen resolution. Try to cram more content on the screen by increasing the DPI density. Here's some pointers:
https://www.themefoxx.com/2018/01/how-to-change-dpi-density-android.html
Be careful though. Going too crazy with those settings may result in some elements or buttons showing off screen.

You're wrong! I already found the problem. The problem is in the new GMaps not in the resolution. A lot of users complain for this problem. I installed a lower version of GMaps and everything is good now.

That doesn't make me wrong. My suggestion may allow you to use the newer version on your low resolution screen by scaling everything smaller.
Just for the records, the current Google Maps looks just fine on my device.

What kind of device do you use? The newest version of GMaps works badly on horizontal view. Maybe it works on some phones not on the Android Radios.
