Sudden battery drop. 95%- 11% - Verizon HTC One (M9)

Over the last 2 days this has happened twice. Today, while running internet radio, gps, connected to bluetooth in the car and while on the charger, the battery from instantly from 95% to 11%. Similar yesterday. I looked up a few things and all I can think of is a bad battery. I am running VenomRom 2.3.1 with ElementalX kernel on stock settings. Any general advice? I was running GSAM battery monitor and BBS before. Those are now uninstalled to eliminate as possibilities.

What else changed right before it happened? Updated recovery? Rom update?

There wasn't much changed really, especially during that 2 day period. The last time I updated the ROM or anything was about a week ago. It could have been BBS though.

[Q] CM9 Battery Drain

I just wanted to start off by thanking drk.hd and invisiblek for all of their hard work on the ROM and I love it. However there is a problem that I got with the latest build and I can't post in that thread because of the 10 post requirement. With that said, I have been getting massive battery drain overnight the past 2 nights and I was wondering if anyone knows a way to fix that. Last night I went from 67% down to 14% and the night before was even worse, 74% down to 4%. Does anyone know a way to fix that? It's the same problem I had with AOKP and Abduction and I didn't have that problem with the previous CM9 builds. Any help is greatly appreciated.
I forgot to add my kernel. I'm using the incredikernel hwa beta 2 running on smartassv2 with 128 min and 1113 max.
Use betterbatterystats or badass battery monitor to see if something is keeping your phone awake.

I do have those off. I actually had no problem on build 8 and I had amazing battery life and I've been using it the exact same way. I flashed over build 8 with 9 and then I started getting this massive battery drain over night. Weird thing is that it doesn't happen during the day only when the phone is idle for a long period of time.

Thanks for the response Tiny. Unfortunately, both of those apps are freezing up my phone and forcing a reboot.
I just resorted to a full wipe and hopefully that works out. Will report back tomorrow.

If they are freezing your phone there are other problems. Since you said you just wiped or will wipe hopefully that will fix it but it won't tell why.

You're right Tiny. After the wipe it seems to be back to a normal battery drain again as in build 8. The real test will come tomorrow though when I wake up. And the weird thing is that the apps work now after the full wipe. I still have a nandroid backup of the build 8 I flashed over if you want to do some tests with it to see what might have gone wrong.
Ok so it seemed that it was one of the apps that made my battery drain like crazy. I installed badass battery monitor again because I had a 12% drain in an hour at one point with it being idle with the screen taking up 40% of the usage. I uninstalled the last app that I installed which was the Videocam Illusion and I got only an 11% drain over night so it seemed like that fixed it.

[Q] Cell Standby Battery Drain

Hi guys. A couple days ago I got a replacement GNEX from Verizon. I unlocked it and rooted it, threw Muzzy's rom on it.
Yesterday at work I had all I could do to keep it charged all day, it was draining the battery at about 20% an hour. So last night I tried a different battery, no change. So a couple hours before bed I downloaded the factory image, and wiped the phone clean and reflashed the stock image. I logged in with my account, put no apps on it, charged it to full then when I went to bed unplugged it with a full charge.
6 hours later I get up and its at 41%. The phone has been on wifi all night, no apps other than what comes with the factory image, the only things I have syncing are gmail, contacts and calendar. Google Now is off, all location services are off. The culprit when I look at battery stats, Cell Standby used 95% of the battery.
I'm at a loss, I can't have a phone draining that fast for no reason. I've been searching but I can't seem to find a fix or reason for this. As I said, there's no apps but the google apps. Does anybody have any idea? Should I try flashing the stock image again?
Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
What's your time without signal?
Switch to CDMA only and see if that alleviates the issue. If it does, odds are you have a defective LTE radio.

When viewing your battery usage in settings, tap cell standby for more info. You can also tap on the graph at the top of the screen to get a another bar graph showing various usages and wakes.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Weird I did that and it didn't show it before. Anyway, 0% time without signal.
I switched to CDMA only and in 15 minutes lost 5% not using the phone. According to gsam the screen was still half that and in apps android system is the top hitter. Radio was only 4.2%.
If any of that helps.

the most battery saving combo (in my opinion...an in the opinion of a lot of other users) is the Rasbeanjelly Rom with the Trinity Kernel.
i always get 4hrs+ displaytime clocked at 1300MHz. And the phne feels super super smooth. you should give it a try if you have time

I guess the big issue I have is that I'm fine with the battery draining while I'm using the phone, it should. But it shouldn't suck it down as fast or faster when I'm not using it.
Literally as I typed this I lost 3 percent......

Major Battery Issues

My battery will not charge to 100% and it drains extremely quickly. It typically will only charge to somewhere in the 50% area. Last night I had it charging while I slept and it only got to 32%. I currently am running stock Jelly Bean 4.1.1. I installed better battery stats to see if it could help me and the process that appears to be wearing out the battery is "dhp_dpc." From what I understand, this has something to do with wifi. "System" (Android System) also is at the top of the list on the main battery page at 25%. Android OS is using 20%.
I have been flashing this phone back and froth from AOSP roms to TW roms and this problem began while I was on a TW rom. I decided to Odin back to stock and it did not help. It currently is not rooted and running JB.
I've had this problem once before, but I never found out about the dhp_dpc thing. I ended up getting the phone swapped out for a refurbished model. I want to avoid this, if possible. In case it becomes a problem again, I would like to know how to fix it.

Umm I'd backup and do a clean flash after a factory reset. I'm not sure what's causing your battery drain and nit picking for hours won't get us much farther.

Android System and Android OS draining my battery since updating to 4.1.2

Bone stock, not rooted or rommed.
My battery life used to be phenomenal. I would check at the end of basically every day and averaged 4-8 hours of actual Screen On time. The Screen would account for 40-55% of the usage, followed by all of the*apps*that I had used that day. Android System and Android OS would be pretty far down on the list.*
Now that I have 4.1.2, I'm lucky to hit 3 hours of Screen On time. And now Screen, Android System, and Android OS are accounting for 20% EACH.
I haven't changed any settings or the way that I used the phone. The only thing that has changed is the update.*Is anybody else experiencing this?
I've gotten bettery battery life since 4.1.2, significantly better. Try to perform a factory reset or it could be a faulty device.

Yep and I have more or less tried everything including tweaks galore, every suggestion I coukd find, and freezing several dozen apps.
Nothing can be done about this and my guess is Samsung have made an absolute mess of the update. My HTC loses maybe 1% overnight on a bad day, this loses way over 10%.
I'll prob end up switching back to 4.1.1 but unfortunately it doesnt have the tap to reflow feature in the browser (which I use a lot)... I wonder if I can remove it via titanium and restore the newer version which would have reflow on 4.1.1 ??
I have the same problem. As soon as I took my phone off the charger this morning it dropped to 99%. On 4.1.1 it used to last for a good 20 minutes before dropping to 99%. Also last night after about 6 hours of screen time Android System was at the top of my list. And that is with 20 or so system apps frozen or deleted from running.
What's the easiest way to go back to 4.1.1?

Zero battery life related issues here with 4.1.2 Im starting to think some people probably messed up their phones too much or just got a flaky unit/battery and 4.1.2 exposed those?

Well I dunno.. I have tried everything and there is definitely a battery drain issue. If it is caused by ebay/whatsapp + facebook, then I'm curious as to why they don't show up in battery usage or betterbatterystats... and I'm also curious why the exact same setup on my HTC EVO 3D does cause these horrendous idle battery drains.

Yeah already done all that and there doesnt actually seem to be anything using over like 5%.. I have elimated the higher one yet it still drains ovwr 10% at nite. Or in general idleness.
What I became accustomed to with my previous phones was 0% or 1% drain over many hours if the screen was off. Not 2% or more an hour.
1% drain over 9 hours of deep sleep on Wanam2.8

I had the same dreaded android os battery drain issue after updating to ma8. Used to have great battery life before that. After freezing Google search, Google now, still no use. Then i realized I installed another weather app at the same time I upgraded the os. Bingo. Un installed that offending app and that fixed the Android os battery drain issue. Hope this helps.

That's specifically my DBT rom (stock everything as well) and I've had battery issues and to be honest, it's still better than most other phones, but I'm getting about 40% less life out of my device now.
I have flashed again, I've reset, and deleted everything and still no luck. It's something with the ROM. I hope the next update will fix it. If it doesn't, I'll revert back to 4.1.1 because I would go to bed with 50% battery life, now I have to charge in the middle of the day if I want to get through a long work day with lots of use.
well the new french 4.1.2 N7100XXDMA6_N7100OXADMA5_N7100XXDLK7 is much better than the last one rlsd in december and my battery drains less now

well i upgraded my note 2 to latest 4.1.2 from 4.1.1 few days ago and battery drain issues started .. i hard reset it many times but same problem.. before update with usage on whatsapp 1% drop down was in 7-8 minutes and after update it was in 4-5 minutes..

Battery problems

Hi, i had fully charged my n5x yesterday then used it till the charge dropped to about 54% (at around 12:00 a.m), when I woke up this morning around 6:45, the battery was at 0%, completely drained, i had charged it and it works okay for now (except for a random reboot around 12:30 p.m), but I have this problem, it shows -1........ secs where the time(hrs) are supposed to be and i know this is not normal, i am running pure nexus 6.0.1 and elementalX kernel, can anyone explain this too me? as far as i know it could be caused by a faulty battery or can it be a rom/kerenl problem? the phone is only 2 months old and i don't think i should be experiencing any problems (unless the device is faulty). But other than this problem the phone works great. There is a screenshot with the battery pattern which looks not normal.
thanks.

If that was the case, it would have been a more widespread problem and so far your case is the first I read. I've been using the N radio in MM ever since it was released with no battery drain issues in two 5X units. Your issue must lie elsewhere.
