[Q] I need Help Rooting my Samsung Galaxy III t999 d2tmo - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

My usb port on my phone needs to be replaced. I am unable to root with framaroot- no exploit that works. Towel root will not install. Is there any other way to root without connecting to a pc?

No I don't think so. What do you mean towelroot will not install? Can you be more specific?

I am attempting to Edit to APN via Settings> More Networks>mobile networks>Access Point Names.
The one that has been there is greyed out and I cannot edit it. I added a new one with the correct data but the system seems to default to the old one automatically.

Well root isn't going to magically fix things like this. You're gonna have to do more than that. I think you may need to edit the apns-conf.xml file in system/etc

I need to educate myself. I downloaded an apn app, but it won't run.
Thank you for helping.

Had IMEI Issue, now phone won't detect cellular network

Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me. I have a Virgin Mobile Canada (Bell) Galaxy S3, and I flashed a ROM and it killed my IEMI (It became 0, and I had not done a backup...), and so I had to manually restore it with the NV Restore tool. The IMEI now shows correctly under 'about' on my setting screen, but I can't connect to my cellular network at all. It just doesn't detect the network. The *only* network that gets found is 'EXT', which does not work, instead of the Virgin Mobile network. Now, I restored to stock via Odin, and compared my roommates phone to mine. He has the eact same phone and carrier as I do - and our baseband, versions, etc, are identical, and his works fine. Mine does not. I also double checked, and my IEMI I manually entered matches the one under the battery and on the box, so I didn't mess up re-entering it. I just can't connect at all.
I'm at a total loss. Anyone have any possible suggestions?
Did you check the apn settings?

Yes, they are identical, I flashed a stock Bell ROM via Odin.
See if this helps.

Sadly that app says the Binaries still have to be updated for Bell
Should I just try Rogers and hope it works anyways?

[Q] TELUS APN settings greyed out, can't change them, only add, and resets on reboot

I have a Telus Galaxy Note 3 N900W8. It has APN settings by default for sp.telus.com, which are all greyed out.
It has isp.telus.com, which I want to use (I'm using a data-only plan/sim card), but I cannot select it.
I added a new APN and replicated the isp.telus.com, but apparently by looking at my billing I was started to get charged lots of money, and the new APN I added is gone (I'm assuming due to a reboot!).
I do not want to root my phablet, and I'm thinking of sending it back. Apparently rooting sets off a trip counter. Is rooting the phone the only way to fix my problem, actually most importantly, can I fix this default APN stuff and greyed out stuff if I root my phone?
Any help is appreciated

Depends on what rooting method you use. Many do not trip the Knox Flag

Haven't done that before, but I would imagine that you would need root to modify those settings.

For anyone using the AT&T HTC Desire Eye using cricket, straight talk or ATT mvno

If you MMS does not work, I have found the solution.
It needs to be rooted with a custom rom, I tried factory unlocking it first, which did not solve the issue.
Just a heads up, thanks to the members of Skydragon and the root folks.

It will if you delete all of the other APNs. I had the same problem with this phone and my new Nexus 6.

It didn't let me initially, what is weird is it's using the straight AT&T apn, fully functional, but if I use the cricket one, it doesn't work, running the Skydragon too

The APN type field on the default doesn't include fota or mms -- the AT&T one has it in there- make sure you add mms, fota to the list.

Split Screen Multitasking on HTC 10?

I've been trying to figure this out but can't seem to turn split screen on nor can I find anything online. Hoping someone here can shed some light. Can the HTC 10 perform in split screen mode?

Split screen (multi window) will be added in Android N. Unless you mean screen casting, which is done in settings HTC Connect.

Cool thanks, same firmware version as me. Just noticed I've missed lots of updates....Leedroid moves so quick. Updating now.
Updated and I have option now.
I know I'm bumping an old thread but it's possible on stock ROM as long as you're rooted.
Set system partition r/w in twrp or via adb.
Edit the build.prop line:
ro.build.type=userdebug
(old value =user)
Then goto "settings>developer options>advanced" and check the "multi-window mode"

Glad you did! Works fine on S-OFF/Rooted Verizon running Viper 2.8. Actually just used Root Explorer and navigated to build prop in system/customize and edited that line then rebooted. Profit!

Frankly you probobly shouldn't mess with your build.prop if you don't already know the basics. You could easily bork your phone.
I'd spend some time searching the forums and learning before you try editing the prop.
Best of luck to you.
I just installed leedroid and multi window was available in the developer options (I didnt make any changes build prop). I have it selected but it doesn't seem to be working. In the recent apps menu it has the segmented box on each recent app (which i think means the multi window selector) but when i tap it it does nothing. I cant figure out how to multi window. Any help?

How can I solve this problem? (A520F)

Hello! I upload a capture of all the errors. I'm very interested in solving the IMEI. Thanks for your help!
On stock firmware does it show a correct IMEI?
If so, the problem is random flashing.
Do you have backup of the .cert and or .efs files?
If so, search on how to use them.
If you know the IMEI and it is network blacklisted, use a service for unlocking it. Online you can find it.
I hope I helped.

I don't know if it helps, but when I flashed a Combination for my phone, when i had an unknown IMEI, it showed me one working and network working too but I don't know if you can make use of that IMEI or even if it is valid.
And solved my unknown IMEI just by flashing last stock rom.
If you have your phone rooted, you can extract those files via adb, plenty of tutorials online.

The combination "os" is not a full os, is like a test one, so i would not recommend you to install it.
Here you can find it, the page need you to be registered and to pay for a fastest download, none the less, it can be downloaded without paying but it is a little bit slower

Remember that you need XXU4

Slide the upper menu and get to config, in device info or something you should find an IMEI and you probably have noticed that the phone is connected to the network, or that was what was shown to me.

Hm what is left is just to flash stock, keep it in a wifi connection 168 hours and then flash twrp for rooting the phone and getting those files, lets hope they are not corrupted.
The waiting it is because samsung have seven days as the time.for the bootloader to be unlocked and allowing the phone to be modified.
Good luck.
Also, if you are interested in more details about the waiting for rooting:
