How to remove Google Now notifications from watchface? - Asus ZenWatch

I'm using the Airfighter watchface and it permanently displays Google Now notifications at the bottom of the watchface (obscuring the step counter which is also displayed there). I can open each notification and swipe it away, but then it just gets replaced with the next Google Now card. How can I configure this so that Google Now cards are only displayed if I swipe down on the watchface?

In the Wear app on the phone, tap the gear icon to get to Settings, then tap "ASUS ZenWatch" under Device settings. Turn off "Card previews". I think that will do what you're asking.

Thanks for the reply. I was hoping that there was an option to keep the notifications on the watch, but not to have them automatically appear on the watchface - i.e. I only want to see them when I swipe up. I guess this isn't possible.

I just tried it, and turning off card preview does that. They appear full-screen when they arrive, but otherwise not unless you swipe up.
Edit...I just reread what you wrote, and I guess you mean you don't want them to appear at all until you swipe up. You're right, I think there's not a way to do that, at least not built in.

Cards don't show up on watch face after notification (4.4w.2 update)

I updated earlier to 4.4w.2 and it went smoothly but I noticed that my cards don't show up on my watch face when I bring my wrist up to look at them. It pretty much shows just my watch face. I was under the impression that with the new update the cards show up and I can swipe them down for later not not show up at all which isn't good for me cause then Im not sure what I just got at a glance.
Is that how the update makes the watch behave now or did mine get a little screwed?
Try restarting your watch. Worked for me..
I'll give it a go
Mine's been the same way since the update; but I'm not sure either if it's supposed to be that way or if its a bug. I was under the same impression as the OP, that they'd appear by default and you could hide them when needed.
I had issues with no cards and no notifications, and none of the apps would launch. I rebooted my phone and after it came up, then rebooted my watch and now everything is working. The only thing i'm having issues with, it that it keeps putting itself on silent. I'll set it to vibrate and about 2 hours later i'll look down at my watch and see that I had a notification. I go to check the volume and it had put itself on silent. Kind of annoying. Did it both with the 4.4w.1 and the newest update.
Okay I think I figured out a solution to the issue; in my case I just didn't understand what a certain setting in the Android Wear app actually meant. The one that says "Show Cards When Display is Dimmed", has two options: Always Show and Always Hide. Previously, I always chose "Always Hide", and cards would pop up as normal on the home screen clock; but now that's not how it works. Choosing "Always Hide" means cards will never show up on your homescreen clock (and you won't have the option to swipe them up). Choosing "Always Show" on the other hand, gives you the option: a card will pop up on the clock screen as usual, but you can swipe it down to hide it and swipe back up to bring it back. The card will also be reflected when the ambient screen comes on, unless you swipe it down to hide it. Anyway, figuring this out helped my issue so I thought it might be worth mentioning.

"5 Mins to work" - how do I turn this off?

Every morning, and sometimes throughout the day, I get this notification telling me how many minutes to work. I haven't set a work location, and I have all settings turned off that I can see in Google, so I'm wondering how I can actually disable this annoying and useless feature.
Anybody know?
You can try and clear the data for Google now and reactivate it. Do you have a home location set?
I'd like to turn off Google now cards showing up on my watch because when I swipe away the weather, I lose card on my phone.

Sounds like there is an update that is coming with Lollipop that will allow you to bring back cards you swiped away. For now, instead of swiping away cards just swipe down to hide them.

View the card in google now on your phone, you can click the 3 dots in the corner of the card to enter the notification option for that particular card and permanently dismiss it.
You can also turn off card preview in android wear settings.
Ok, thanks for the advice. I had already turned the notifications off for that particular card in Google, but for some reason it kept showing. I just clicked it again, so I'll see if it sticks this time.
Android wear 5.o coming soon to solve this issue

Single tap to swipe option is gone!

Hello everybody,
Soon after getting the Pie update, after the first security small update, i noticed that on my wife's Galaxy S9 the setting "Single tap to swipe" option is gone. Anybody else having this problem ?
Thanks!
Same here. I have also preferred tap instead of swipe... Definitely i am going to change this Samsung brand...
Mee too! I'm very angry...
LOL, you guys break me up, so fickle that you'll change phones because of single tap to swipe feature missing. There is no way you could have even liked the phone if you'll drop it for this.
Same on S9+. It worked on One UI security patch January 1, but it is gone after February 1 update.
Lame, I thought my phone got stuck, took me few days until I tried to swipe, LOL...
I am used to end the call with Power key but never got the hang of using the Volume up key for answering calls, so I just used tap instead of swipe.
Now I guess I am doomed.
My workaround will be to try to get used to using Bixby key for answering calls since bxActions app has such an option.
Until they break that with some update also.
On Note 9 still working after the last update, hope they will not mess with it.
For some reason in latest update they moved it under: Interaction and dexterity -> assistant menu -> Single tap to swipe ....
but now i am stuck with useless menu on my screen (kept only one option in the menu) but when disabling the menu - single tap stops working
Thanks kabangena, with your help i found it. I have set the maximum transparency to the small assistant menu and i moved it in the upper right corner. I cannot see the icon anymore. It's a temporary fix, hope Samsung will do something about it.

same here , but it's still very annoying
Is anyone solved the issue, even with the third-party app? That's really annoying; why don't left that useful option "as is"?
You can hide the assistant menu by long press on it and a circle with "X Hide Here" appears in top center of the screen, drag it into the circle. This hides assistant menu in the notification panel. You have to see the notification every time you swipe down to open the panel, but it is completely hidden from the home screen.

Except, after the screen closes and I hit Home to open it again, this little piece of worthless junk is back.
I'd just leave it somewhere and ignore this POS, but it covers parts of apps that I regularly use.
Why do people think that deleting functionality is a good thing?
Finally I found the solution (not a permanent but still affordable).
- turn Settings->Accessibility->Interaction and dexterity->Assistant menu on and (inside "Assistant menu") set Single tap to swipe is on
- weird floating icon should appear but don't worry
- go to Settings->Apps, press "3 dots" in the top right corner and tap on Show system apps
- find an app called Accessibility, tap on, scroll all way down and remove Appear on top advanced permission (I've also disabled Change system setting)
- now scroll up, and tap on Force stop button
Weird button will disappear and re-appear after reboot only (you should repeat last step again after reboot but it's OK, I believe so)
Enjoy!
P.S. Thanks to user drmusou for his post.
[UPDATE] There is a permanent solution! Set Single tap to swipe option and disable package com.samsung.accessibility by Package Disabler Pro+ (Samsung).
Or just with ADB shell:
c:\adb>adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.samsung.accessibility
If you tap and hold the assistant menu you will have the option to hide it " it will re appear after reboot" but can do the same again ?

Notification problem - no one speaks of it??

Hi guys!
In the past I had an Android watch, a Pebble, several Samsung watches... The best one so far was Android.
Samsung Galaxy watch would be almost perfect if it hadn't this stupid "feature"
In short, the notification dot on the watch is there to notify you when there are unread notifications on the watch, not on your mobile phone. One would say, so what, that's not a problem...
Figure this - if you have the " turn screen on" and "show notification details" options on, then everything you get on your watch gets dismissed immediately! How stupid is that??
Is there a workaround for this, am I the only one bothered by this?
I love how Android wear has this solved. Not only that you have a notification on your watch persistent until you dismissed it on your phone or your watch but also it shows details in a form of cards...
Same settings on my watch. Notifications don't get deleted
Mine do not get deleted too. However, if you clear the notification on your watch it does remove it from your phone too.

They don't get deleted, just the orange dot disappears, leaving me unaware of a new notification...

so easy just go to notification settings in the galaxy watch app and remove the toggle beside the turn on screen option. its useless anyways. if its on, the the orange dot wont appear because it auto dismisses it by design.

I know exactly what you mean. All notifications disappear way too easily! If you accidentally go to far, it's gone. Missed it! FTS! FFS!
I tried for long time to try to find a fix. Samsung has to fix this. NOTHING the user can do!

Yes, it's up to Samsung... but the problem is, nobody talks about it, I tried to Google the problem, haven't found anything...
It's like people don't see it or don't care about it...

I do like those two options, so I can immediately see the notification on my screen without touching it..... but the only interaction at that point is to scroll up or down to read the notification details or touch the three-dots on the right and select "Clear Notifications" If I clear notification, then that's what happens... notification gone (it would be nice if I could just swipe sideways to clear, because for some notifications I have to then scroll to the bottom of a list of options to select clear notifications). If I don't "Clear Notifications" and ignore it, then the notification disappears from the watch screen, The watch goes back to displaying the watch face, there will NOT be an orange dot on the watch face, but the notification will be in my watch's notifications queue for me to look at later, AND the notification will be on my phone.
Seems like that's about exactly how I want it.
I have "Mute connected phone" set in the Wearable app notifications settings, because if I am wearing my watch, I want the watch to be what notifies me; not my phone. Also, I have the new OneUI on the watch.
Same problem here. I'd like to have notifications to be persistent until I explicitly dismiss them. On my Galaxy watch a notification disappears after I saw it. Is there some setting? Thanks!
So I just got the galaxy watch 5 and had this problem. I found that some how my phone got put in do not disturb. Once I turned that off all my notifications came up.

Received Location Update

I've been out of the samsung infrastructure for a little while coming from the Pixel 3 xl (2 years), and I just received my s20 Ultra on Monday. But I noticed that every time I pick up my phone I get the message "received location update", I have no problem with the "location update" seeing as if I lose my phone it can be tracked later. BUT i'm tired of seeing the notification! Is there a way to turn that off? without turning off location services? And by notification its not something in the status bar its a message that comes up near the fingerprint scanner.
hard/long press on the notification bar will allow you to mute it or control it

its not a notification that shows up in the status bar. it's literally a pop up bubble that shows up near the fingerprint sensor EVERY time I pick up my phone.

This, from manual, might be what you need,
Smart pop-up view
Receive notifications as icons that can be tapped and expanded in pop-up view.
*◌ From Settings, tap Advanced features >*Smart*pop-up view, and tap to enable.

It's called a toast notification and you might want to fry something like:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=pl.revanmj.toastsource
It'll tell you what app is generating the toast notification.
