[I need help] HTC 820 vs note 4 - Desire 820 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello!
I can buy either htc 820 for 50 dollars, or Samsung note 4 for 390 dollars.
I wanted to ask if I would be happy with 820 and get to keep the money, or if I would be better with note 4.
I am in great need of money, but I must change my phone. I am using my phone around three hours to talk, I watch videos and browsing.
Right now I do have an Orange Rono.
Would hd820 be enough of an upgrade, or should I buy Note 4?
Thanks.

i personaly think note 4 is waste of money, and phones are equal in many prospects. I went with 820 because its realy the most you can get for this money. Not the most, more than most.

Thanks for the answer...
Ultimately, I think that note 4 is a waste of money, I mean from everything it has, I would only buy it for the display, but considering that I can buy 820, and change it after 7 months, I think that I will be happy with it for the said period.

Depends on what you want from the phone. Note 4 is a beast in terms of specs comparing with the 820. I got mine for free and I would say it's a nice phone if you're a lambda user, but can't compare it with my daily S5. Development is dead for 820 and this is a big turn off for me. If you're not in a rush save the money and wait for the Oneplus 2.

Considering that I am buying on contract from Orange, I have a limited array of choices.
I think that I will go with HTc 820 if something else better does not come up

HTC desire ???

Hi I am currently on the hero and I wanted to know if the desire is worth or if you advise me to wait
Yes, it is worth to buy compare htc hero ... unless you want something else
Read the HTC Desire spec:
http://www.htc.com/www/product/desire/overview.html
And then compare it with your phone.
Well of course it is worth getting depending on the following factors.
1. You like the sense UI on your hero.
2. You are out of contract or due an upgrade or have the money to buy the phone sim free.
3. You are aware that there will probably be something better along in 6 months or so and would rather jump now then wait.
Keep waiting Every 6 months there will be new announcement, better hardware, better features, etc.
Then you will never buy a thing.
I could wait an Android phone with one of this:
- 4+ inch screen
- Snapdragon 1.3GHz or 1.5GHz
- Touch screen using ClearPad 3000
So, I think, HTC Desire is good enough, more than good in terms of OS and hardware.
Btw, if you curious about "ClearPad" Touch screen. It is the screen hardware that is used by all (CURRENT) HTC capacitive screen. It is not perfect, which you can probably heard issue with the Nexus One.
Explained here in much more detail:

Exactly what I say.. Problem is.. I keep buying each of these new phones every 4-6months.. Normally sell them on again for not much less than I originally paid for it.. But going to keep my HD2 this time.. Just so I can play around with some of the cool things that the xda guys make for win mob..

[Q] LTE or Global One X? Input?

Okay, XDA. I have an important question that I want your input on. I currently own an AT&T HTC One X. I love this phone's design and the features it has but I have been on the fence about acquiring a global version. I could easily sell this device off for about 350-370 USD and then proceed to get the global version, mainly for its quad-core CPU, more storage and the ability to root and unlock it. But I have heard that the older kernel and CPU hurts the battery life compared to the U.S. version. There is also the loss of LTE but that's not much a priority to me. So my question to you is, should I fork out the extra $80 dollars or so for the Global version or hold onto this phone until they acquire a root exploit or s-off? Thanks guys.
xl, lte, att are all qualcomm devices, and global is tegra3 version, i have it and it's awesome in everything! maybe the battery is more under pressure in t3 hox, but the game is worth the candle
This really depends on how you use the phone. There are mixed reviews of which is better. I because the global phone is a quad core, the battery is under a little more strain and it will probably not last as long as the XL. There is also a difference in size. The international is a little thinner so whatever case you may have now, will probably not fit correctly. Some people have said that tasks aside from gaming have worked a little bit enter on the XL but if you are big on 3D gaming, I suggest the International.
All in all, I I personally have the XL and I wouldn't sell it and spend more money on the international. I If it ain't broke don't fix it.

HTC one x and Google nexus 4

So we all know the news of the new nexus, the 16gb costs the same as the HTC one x if I sell mine. All of the internal specs seem great I'm not bothered about sd card, non removable and lte. I just wanted to know is anyone else was buying it by trading their hox in, I just care to know if the camera quality, screen quality, DAC are better then the hox because these are the main reasons why I would buy it since the hox has bad output speaker, battery life, overheats and I don't what a phone with a worser screen then my current or I'll feel like I've downgraded instead.
The camera that is used is a Sony bsi camera in the nexus 4, which is the same as the iPhone 5's. I do like the hox camera but it is behind the iPhone 5, s3 and lumia 920 in terms of quality and colour reproduction. I was watching the verge video which stated that one of the main people behind the nexus 4 said they spent a lot of time making it good at low light shoots which the hox suffers in. The one x+ is good too but I don't like the 40nm CPU and the material used as it gets dirty to easily. So what do you lot think is it worth the trade or are you happy with the hox?

N4 > HOX in almost every way. I'm definitely going to make the switch
I'm fed up with waiting for updates, stock buggy Rom, overheating and bad battery life.

I've only ever had HTC android phones (Hero>Desire HD>Sensation>EVO 3D>One X), before that I was using HTC windows phones, but I'm very tempted.
I am also so very tempted to do this, I really like the Nexus devices and I've had it with HTC !!
How would you sell yours? Ebay? And then purchase the Nexus 4?
What happens if I've got 16 months of a 2 year contract left? Could I just sell the HOX, buy the Nexus 4 and then pay the contract for the minutes? etc?
Yeah I'm trading...I think..well till I read the reviews
Partly due to aosp. Nice looking.
I'm not adding much to trade though.they can jog on

I'm going to try Gumtree first, then eBay then buy a N4 with the money.
You can put your sim into any unlocked phone and continue paying your bill as normal.
Hmm I'm happy with my HOX but I want the latest and greatest. The major selling point is that it is a nexus device.
I could recycle my HOX for £195 that wouldn't leave me far off the money needed, but I'm not sure its worth it.
My one X does everything I could possibly want at the moment.
If the N4 had LTE capability, maybe I would be completely swayed.

I'm broke, but selling my HOX should cover most of the cost
I absolutely love my HTC One X, it's a great machine,
but I'm unhappy what is happening in this device section.
People are ignoring forum rules, no respect among each other, moaning about the device, comparing it with other manufacturers and so on.
Jelly Bean rocks on HTC One X, battery live is awesome and the rom flies.
I've see the Nexus 4 video but I don't like the design of the machine and the OS has some new stuff but not so impresive to my opinion.
Anyway if I sell my HTC One X, I'm going back to Microsoft, the HTC 8x or the Nokia 9200 are looking great.
I still doubt to choose between those two phones because the Nokia has a Carl Zeiss lens but also the HTC 8x seems to have a amazing camera with new technology.
So probably one of those machines will be my next phone.
Shame to hear that Leo.
Hope you can stay with your One X and also you can get a W8
Cheers,

im with you buddy..selling my phone and going for the Nexus 4...will be my first Nexus so looking forward to it...just need to sell this bad boy first though
For me HOX is amazing phone. Solid in hand, looks amazing. I really do not understand why battery life is bad .. i am having 48h with daily use.. at some point even more. With that kind a battery and stock rom 2days+ is great, isn't it? 3~5% battery loss in deep sleep (night time) 8~10h.
Agree that Nexus 4 should be good, better than HOX performance/camera wise. Still like the looks of HOX more than N4.
For a quad core beast... what do you think?
The previous single core phones I owned even couldn't make a full day without charging.

Go for the Nexus 4. Any Nexus device is so much better than an hTC device. Always up-to-date sources, working drivers, best support. hTC just lost it along the way.
the sony bsi camera in the n4
the s4 pro dac
and the lg screen
three of the toppest specced components in android history. hell ya. too bad im poor

Just don't expect an HTC ONE X - grade screen.
On the Nexus 4, whites aren't white, more like very soft gray.
I have a Galaxy Nexus and am thinking of switching to a One X. Not sold yet, though, because of the device's speed and Android's ugly apps. Thinking of iPhone 5 (but am not rich so can't afford it) and Lumia 920 (same).

Possibilities, possibilities..

Hey guys!
I'm considering getting a S4 mini to replace my aging HTC HD2. Right now, still in the run, are the Moto G, the S4mini, Samsung Express II and any Chinese phone I can get for 200$ free of contract. I can get the Samsungs for a very low price but the other two I'd pay full price.
I'm mostly looking for a phone with good battery life, decent screen and processor (nice GPU would be nice, though secondary: I don't do much gaming), at least 1GB of RAM and preferably a SD slot.
I'm a compulsive tinkerer and my ROM of choice is AOKP so availability of said ROM on my new phone would also be appreciated.
To be honest the S4mini is looking pretty tempting and that's why I posted here.. What do you guys think? Is there another possibility I might have overlooked? Thanks

Nexus 6 or Note 4 off topic

I know this is G Pro thread but one day all of us will get another phone. The G pro has been a awesome device. The best phone I have ever had. But I want a new one. So I want the Nexus 6 or Note 4. I am asking yall which one. Yalls advice would be appreciated. I am stuck on deciding both are good. I went into att and looked at both. The note 4 has all the bells and whistles. The nexus 6 is big I like. The Nexus will get all the updates first. The Note 4 will not which really does not matter since we root and flash our phones. I would love to hear yalls input on this thanks.

i feel the need to get another phone myself, been thinking on the note 3 before im not able to get from att, and the final price of these phones are getting rediculous, i paid 389 for the g pro, the note 4 is 825! nexus 6 on att 683, my dilemma is note 3 is 699 final and a lil outdated to some, but i have to do the next plan on att so its a matter of how much im willing to spend in taxes. i dont have the money to drop these prices on the phone outright so att being my carrier gotta go with what ya can afford. have an expensive phone and drive a rollscanhardly or save some loot and drive a spark..... decisions decisions! 825 for the note 4! that damn thing better read my mind, play ps4 and xbox games, and get me high at the same time. oh and make bacon too
Note 4 the way to go

I'm staying
I am staying with the g pro I'm not changing phone till there no more custom roms left. There some people that don't even have smartphone.
I'll be staying with the OGP till there are quality 64-bit devices worth buying.
If I had to choose today between the nexus 6 and the note 4, I would take the Nate 4 due to:
1. Screen quality
2. Better battery life
3. Removable battery
4. SD
5. S-pen, adds some benefits
Nexus 6 is about the development community more than anything though, there should be plenty of community support for the note 4 as well.

Did you see the new lg g 3 Vista? It is 5.7 in and it is only 375$. I mean it's not the best but it looks like a good phone. Check it out
I'd rather get 1+1 if price is a problem. Nexus 6 and Note 4 aren't very smooth (some reviews said so). Maybe because the QHD screen. And if I want a new phone, I want it to have no lag at all.
Xperia Z3 Compact is very alluring, 801 with 720p. The battery is very good too. But the screen is smaller and that might become a problem for you. I'll definitely get this device if I can't get the 1+1.
If you want to wait though, device with snapdragon 810 is around the corner (february?). Rumor also said 1+2 will be coming soon.

love those features!
note 4 has physical button to wake, it's a plus unless you have the double tap to wake.
The external SD card is a nice feature on any phone. But no devices get supported in an official way like nexus devices, both vanilla Android from Google and the various roms from the developer community both end up supporting the devices real well.
That's one of the reasons why I am leaning towards the nexus 6 because of development and updates. But that note 4 does have some cool stuff. Someone mentioned the 1+1 when that phone came out I was all on it. Thinking this is great high specs cheap price. Then they pulled this invite crap. They lost me good luck still trying to get one.
I would suggest to wait till almost quarter of next year (2015). You would see some 64 bit devices coming to the smartphone market.
At present I don't think one should spent so much money on Nexus 6 or Note 4 or even Z3.
They are all 32 bit, probably you might not notice a drastic change in you experience moving to any of these device.
Wait for 64 bit chips Snapdragon 808 or 810, wait for 4k screens coming next year.
Waiting now shall prove fruitful for you.
For now I have sold my GPro and bought a used Nexus 5 device, pretty, doing this is pretty common here.
I did not go for a new expensive phone for all the reason I just gave.

IMHO I basically see no 'usable' difference between 720p and 1080p. But that is just my view.
Further a new G Flex is now available for around $300-350, while a note 4 will cost almost double of that, so you could save tons of money for sure
