[Q] Android Wear and Blackberry connectivity! - Sony Smartwatch 3

Hi!
Someone tried to connect SW3, or another smartwatch with android wear OS, with an blackberry phone?!
I would like to return at BB, but at the same time i don't want to lose my Sony SW3.
Thanks!
P.s. I am sorry for my English! :crying:

If this is a relatively new BlackBerry, I think someone got android apps to run on the OS. I would start by trying to sideload the wear app.
Edit: here is a link.
https://supportforums.blackberry.c...want-to-run-Android-Apps-on-Your/td-p/2784957

I searched and i found that , for now, problem is that google play service isn't supported by BB os, so Android wear not work...

Yeah, I was worried about that. I do not know much about BlackBerry, but on locked devices, people have found a way to add Google play services, but it is a pain. What would be more likely is either a native port, or android port of the Apple apps. That is much more doable. Does your phone support bluetooth low energy? If not, it won't happen at all. Sorry.

I have a Blackberry Passport and a SW3, and while the Passport can pair with the watch, I haven't been able to get the Android Wear app to run on the phone (requires Google Play Services). Keep in mind, I haven't spent much time trying - user Cobalt on Crackberry has a patch that might work (http://forums.crackberry.com/androi...lts-official-google-apps-landing-page-965257/)
As a workaround, I leave an old Android phone sitting at home on Wifi and the watch is able to connect to Wifi hotspots and get notifications. Doesn't work with calls or texts, but I am happy enough to keep the watch.

Thanks for reply but i search a method to connect the wear directly to the phone, even if I lose some functions like google voice, wifi or many other that for me aren't important.
I want that wear shows calls, sms, mail, tabs of runtastic or endomondo and so on.

Hi spoky27, would you kindly tell me the method you found to connect the wear directly to the blackberry?
I appreciate it even with some limitation.
Thank you.

Pairing the M360 with multiple Android devices

I find it hard to believe I'm the only one who likes my M360 syncing with my tablet when I'm home, and with my smartphone when I'm out. There is actually no official way to pair the M360 with multiple Android devices at the same time, but I have, however, figured out an alternative. I am going to assume that you already have it paired to one device. If not I believe there are other threads out there to help you with that!
Steps:
In the Android Wear official app, tap the watch icon on the translucent black bar atop the screen to disconnect the M360 first
Check to make sure that underneath the name of your device, the status reads "Not connected"
Go to the watch settings, and reset the device, yes unfortunately there is no way around except factory resetting first
Now go through the original instructions upon boot making sure that this time you pair it with your OTHER Android device
Follow the first two steps again after the device has been paired successfully and booted up
Congratulations! The M360 should now pair with the two devices one at a time after being disconnected from one another!
Hope this helped you guys, as this method definitely works for me with my Nexus 7 (flo) and Galaxy SIII (SGH-I747)!
Doesn't work as of now, using a Google Nexus 10 tablet and Sony Xperia Z2 smartphone. Whichever device is paired last works fine. The other device will manage a pairing request just fine after disconnecting the first one, but once that pairing request is approved, it will sit forever on the "Connecting..." status, and never actually connect.
Is this every watch? I use 2 phones every day because my work does not allow camera phones. I think not being to connect to 2 devices at this junction of tech should not be a handicap.
is it possible to install RunKeeper on moto 360 and upload all activity to my profile?

Yes this is an Android Wear limitation, not a Moto 360 one.

I second that opinion. I just learned of this yesterday when I got my Moto 360. I have been using SmartWatch 2 before and figured that Android Wear being so much newer and with more features it would allow me to connect it to multiple devices... well, crap.
Is the situation same even with the new 5.1.1 version of Android Wear? Google *still* doesn't let us connect to multiple devices?
(And iOS doesn't even have the Android Wear app.. you'd think we live 15 years in the past with these stupid limitations...)
No this limitation has not changed.
so do i have to connnect everytime that i leave one device behind within the app? Bc they both wont stay connected its one or the other??

Installation of apps doesn't work...

Hi All,
I have receive for Christmas a SW3.
I already have a LG G2 (D802) running Lollipop :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/development/rom-liquidsmooth-v4-0-lg-g2-t2948395
With Render Kernel :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/development/kernel-render-kernel-aosp-lg-roms-t2803929
I have update the SW3 to official 5.0.1 with PC Companion.
Then install Android Wear from the market on the phone :
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.wearable.app&hl=fr
I had "Sleep as Android" app already installed on the phone before get the watch.
I have connect the watch to the phone then I have try to install different apps as :
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.npi.wearminilauncher
and
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appfour.wearbrowser
Without problem, the apps appear on the watch., "Sleep as Android" too.
But now, I can't success to install any other apps. I have try :
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=rocketstartups.wearcalculator
Or
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=co.hoomi.athere
But the apps doesn't appear on the watch, I don't understand how to sync the phone and the watch.
I guess I'm too new and there is something that I haven't understand.
Please someone drive me !
Thank you in advance.
Tell me if I'm wrong.
Android Wear is the only "must have" app to manage the watch ?
No need Smart Connect or LiveWear ?...
Open android wear on phone click on the settings gear and click on resync apps
Hello,
Thank you but That doesn't help...
What app do you use to sync the watch?

Android wear is a "must-have" app. And you need also "Google" search app to make sure android wear runs well. (for "ok google" function certainly.)
Did you try to "forget watch device" in android wear and repair it ?
Maybe a factory reset will help, but it is the last option.
Thank you for your reply.
I have disable the location to save battery and the sync have work...
I don't understand!
But now, all work as it should.
Hi,
I'm an expert on SmartWatch 3 and have met with a programmer from the Google team. You require 2 things to fully install apps on your watch, which take max 60 minutes to sync to your watch 100%
1. The first requirement to make sure apps install 100% is a WiFi router network which your phone is connected to, and your SmartWatch 3 is within range of the
area of the router.
2. Your Smartwatch 3 and your Android phone on charge during about 1 hour. The apps sync fast while the battery is being charged, and sync slower if not plugged in.
Do these two things, and the apps will install over WiFi directly from your phone to the watch through WiFi settings of the router.
I just lived in Philippines for 1 month, bought a new Sony phone there and tried installing my Smartwatch 3 over mobil data connection to the phone without a router and not a single app synced. 1 week later ONE app synced. I came home to my country of Sweden with my router and did the same thing with a reset of the watch, and all apps synced in about 45 minutes.

Since this watch has WIFI , will 3rd party watch faces work on IOS?

I just bought this smartwatch but unfortunately my phone died and had to replace with an iphone and discovered that if you sideload apps and faces you can get almost all of the third party faces from the google play store. But read that since many of these faces neet connectivity (weather, news, etc) they may not work since the iphone doesnt work like that
But since this watch has wifi integrated, i was wondering if they could work on this and many other watches that have the same chip.
Any thoughts? I really want to install watch faces with weather and similar
WiFi is used to sync the watch with the cloud, not for receiving data for the weather etc.
The watch still needs to use phone's connectivity to load such data...
But, well, you can still try, there's Android Wear app for iOS, maybe the sideloaded apps will work anyway.

Yeah i can use it with Android Wear and receive notifications but many of the manuals for sideloading watch faces say that if the watch has wifi you may have that functionality
To be honest, that's the first time I hear about that the watch's WiFi itself may be used to update weather data etc without the use of the phone...
It's worth trying but I already did a simple test and it didn't work for me using stock "Weather" app on the watch and the weather service in Minimal & Elegant watchface. They both require the watch to be connected with the phone.

Sony SW2 = No Longer Supported By Sony Apps........Please Help

Hello
I am new to your site, so i hope this is ok to post here.
Please help........I fell for a beautiful all singing all dancing Sony SW2 on ebay, unfortunatly Sony tell me that the SW2 is a no longer a product supported by Sony and that is why the Smart Connect app is available but not the Sony Smartwatch 2 Host. The watch does say it is connected to my Xperia L3 and vise versa but it is not responsive at all to the phone. and if i turn the watch off then on again it just asks me for the SW2 host again.
Is there a way of over riding the watches request for the host app or have i just paid £42 for a lovely looking calculater watch?
Thank you all in advance.
Louise
My backup
https://drive.google.com/open?id=19fpunzmYzcuImAPNkOJbWB2TYD3Vp0QJ
Thank you
Thank you very much for the download.
I have downloaded to my google chrome laptop am somehow from putting it in drive then managed to transfer it to my phone. Now i have it i am still unsure on which apps are best to download for the SW2 and also how to do so, so if you would you be so kind as to help me further iwould be most greatful.
Thank you,
Louise
You can search "sony sw2" on the playstore. There are still many apps
https://play.google.com/store/search?q=sony sw2&c=apps
Hi
I still face the same issue, even I installed the apk you gave us, i cannot open it or launch it What can I do it's for a gift
Thank you in advance.
Cheers
Miriam.
Same issue here. Just gave it to my son. He has OnePlus 3. Sony actually hosts the APK file on their site, but when I install it, you can only hit "Done", as "Open" is grayed out. There is nothing in the app drawer, and nothing under internal storage/Android/data
Master app is the "Sony Smart Connect" the "Smartwatch SW2" app is only a plugin for the master app.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sonyericsson.extras.liveware
But not all "Smart Connect App" works with all phone/watch/plugin. I must often install older Smart Connect Version depend of phone and Android version. Not special rules, I must try differents versions from my differents backup until it works. It is the game with older device and older software on older or newest phone and OS
I just found this site and downloaded your backup but how do I get it to my smartwatch2? I tried plugging the usb cord from the watch to my pc but nothing registers under "My Computer" to be able to transfer a file?
Is there any apps/extensions who still works on Sony smartwatch 2? I just have the five basic apps(alarm, flashlight, calculator, stop watch and timer. I have tried to install several apps/extensions but nothing have been synced to the watch so that I could use them
Almost all works. Just need use old Sony Smart Connect and Smartwatch 2 plugin.
I use Smart Connect V5.7.35.0001
and Smartwatch 2 app V 1.6.31
this works on Android 11
Hello everyone! Extensions don't seem to show on the app after being installed. I'm using a Galaxy A50 on Android 10 / OneUI 2.5, any clue?

You're a lifesaver. Just got it working on android Q. Thanks!
If it helps anyone : I had installed first the Sony Smart Connect V5.7.35.0001, then tried connecting to the watch, then installed the apk Smartwatch2 app V1.6.31 from Sony's website.
It did not work, even after a reboot, because the Smart connect was still trying to install the plugin.
I removed and reinstalled the Sony Smart Connect app and rebooted the phone : it recognized the plugin automatically.
So I would say : try installing the SmartWatch2 host apk first, then the Smart Connect app from the store.
Hi. Is there a call app available? Don't need to answer, just want to see who's calling when a call comes in, I answer on my headset. Really desperate, does anybody have any info? Thanks

Informer - Notifications for Sony SW2This app is the only one I found that displayed missed calls etc. It's rather unreliable for me. Try it yourself.

Thanks, I've downloaded it. Quite good but doesn't really seem to do calls. I went on to Sony and they seem to have the calling apk but I can't get it to work. Does it work for anyone else?

I bought this watch 2 days ago, having a nightmare with it. Hours and hours trying to make it work at my Samsung 10. Sony Smart Connect and Smartwatch App installed and paring with the phone. The problem is that as I could search on the web, the native apps provided in Sony's website just work with Sony smartphones. At the end of the day it is a useless smartwatch if you expect it to at least have the Calling Function.

REALLY , really dumb question - I hope!

O.K,
I am trying to switch from a windows car pc to an android version.
To be honest, car pc's are a real dinosaur, so I was hoping for a lot more innovation in the android field.
So '........... I am trying several android car launchers to try to get a feel for things.
I have an allergy ( ) to Google services, so do not want any google voice search, or android auto.
Happy with offline maps as well.
I am now finding a problem with what I think should be one of the most basic things - that is , making and receiving calls.
First off, I have a 10 inch android tablet on which I am trialling these apps.
I am connecting my nokia smartphone ( android 11 ) to the tablet via bluetooth.
NOW....... I foolishly thought that android could take care of the rest without much tweaking.
By that i mean, if my phone is connected and sharing contacts, why can't I click on the ''phone ' icons on the apps, and get either 1) a dialler, or 2) a list of contacts??
Am I wrong? - is that not one of the most basic things - to connect your phone to a tablet and use the tablet app to make calls using your connected phone?
I have had no luck doing this , and have found little info on the web.
I am sure I am going mad, but could anyone give me an idiots guide to how to achieve this?
Many Thanks
pootler
