[Q] [Request] Xperia S stock camera on Lollipop? - Sony Xperia S, Acro S, Ion

Hello,
I'm currently (and very happily) running nAOSPROM on my Xperia S. However, the only thing I miss from stock is the camera, both its simplicity and its quality. I tried various alternative camera apps, and they are all not very satisfactory (especially in low light) and seem to draw an ungodly amount of battery while doing an inferior job. I even tried the recent port of Z4 camera (including framework), and it seems that the XS isn't able to handle that one anymore, running out of memory and coming to a screeching halt. Not that I'd be particularly interested in placing stickers on my pictures or using AR anyway.
Bottom line/tl;dr: I want the camera back that worked so great in Xperia S stock firmware.
My question now is: Is there any possibility and if so, someone knowledgeable enough to port the bog-standard Xperia S stock camera from the latest (and probably last) JB stock firmware so it can be run on Lollipop?
Thank you so much in advance (even for a definite no)

Yes, that's the one I meant with "the recent port of the Z4 camera", I made the same experience.
I'm really hoping for a port of the original, basic, but great working camera.

i wrote to the dev and he replied to me: "to fix black screen use com.sonyericsson.cameraextension.jar in framework folder from working xperia port camera for xperia s it will surely works" .. so i will try it when i will have some free time

I'm waiting too for a stock camera port for lollipop roms (ucyan or naosp). Please let us know the outcome.
I'm still on stock too just for the camera. I'm using the EXR port from Z1 which is great but also the stock would be great.

Any news ?

I do not know if I'm doing dirty flash which find it hard but I tried to install both Ucyan as the Naosp the Ucyan in the system is with random crashes and reboots in Naosp black screen and a Rebot until not stand it and went back to SipleAOSP

Any news ?

Several doubts and some help! (newbie)

Hi everyone I'm new in this forum and I don't know anything about this smartphone world but I have some questions about my personal Xperia M. First of all I want to apologize for my bad english coz I hate web-traductors so I don't use them.
A friend told me I should install CM11 (Cyanogenmod If I remind correctly) in my smartphone coz it'd be better, I've tried to find some information in Google in my language coz I barely undertand the english technicisms for smartphones but I didn't fund anything so I decided to post in this forum.
I heard tha there is no official version for my smartphone and If I install an unofficial version this can broke my smartphone, is that true? Do you guys think that the CM11 is advisable for my Xperia? I want to know if It'll improve the performance.
How should I start If I want to install CM11 in my Xperia M? I'll let you some information:
Xperia M Android version 4.3
Xperia M C1905

I am also a newbie to Android like you
Do you have a PC with you?
Then why don't you make root access on your phone?
About 75% of my installed apps requires root to get its full potential.
I am on XMD (2004).
otherwise I would help to root your phone.
there maybe many threads for rooting your handset (1905)
CM11 is one of the greatest option for the beginners i have ever seen!!!.Pros Are -
1. Extended Battery Life
2. improved performance
3. KikKat UI
I think you can go for it

& its 'cons' ?
I have heard that many options will not work with CM as it is still on beta stage! is it right?
also if I couldn't lock my boot loader, I will loose my warranty also.

no problem with CM. cuz you can always lock BootLoader via flashtool and there are some minor bugs ( No problems to the user with these bugs)

Q&A for [ROM][UB][Linaro][KitKat][4.4.4]Carbon Rom[Unofficial]

Placing your question within this thread will increase its chances of being answered by a member of the community or by the developer. Thanks for understanding and for helping to keep XDA neat and tidy!
Camera app replacement
Hey guys, thanks for the Carbon Rom - looks real good, is nice & fast.
I have one question.
I've installed Google Camera and I liked it better than default CM one. I tried to freeze CM camera so that Google Camera would be default everywhere, but pressing hardware camera button doesn't work (there is only a one-time vibro, camera doesn't launch, when CM is defrost it launches, obviously).
Is there any way I can set Google Camera to launch via hardware button? I'd like to delete CM camera to keep everything neat & tidy.
Thank you guys in advance!
Problem with Carbon rom
Hi, I'm new at this and I had a problem when I installed your rom on my Xperia S. I managed to root it and install CWM perfectly... But when I flashed your rom, without any problems, and tried to reboot, the phone never rebooted. I just stays with the screen off and when I press the power on button for a while it only vibrates and that's it. I used to have the official Xperia 4.1.2 rom. HELP!!!!
If unlocked bootloader, maybe you should flash tft.
You can have a look at the main thread someone has the same problem....

I think this problem is known.
Which earphones are you using?
I think newer ones are not supported because of missing drivers but i am not sure.
HDMI
Is it hard to make hdmi support? I use 4.1 only for hdmi. There are another 4.4 roms with hdmi, but carbon is best.

Yes it is hard to support hdmi since, afaik, there was no proper support built for it in the sources used by carbon.
build fails on OMX codec
Hi all!
Has anyone tried to build the ROM from sources?.. well I have and it fails while building the obj for OMXCodec --> OMXCodec.cpp:4569 --> frameworks/av/media/libstagefright/OMXCodec.cpp:4569:11: error: 'OMX_AUDIO_PARAM_FLACTYPE' has no member named 'nBitsPerSample'
If anyone met the same problem and fixed it, please share the fix/work-around.
So far i've edited OMX_Audio.h and inserted an OMX_U32 nBitsPerSample var in the OMX_AUDIO_PARAM_FLACTYPE struct.
It compiles on, but i'm not sure this is Ok.
Thanks!

Yeah well I tried to build it too yesterday evening, but I'm not getting any error nor the output zip file! Where did You find the error?
Mmmm... I don't really remember.
I was building the project just like in the 'how to' (I mean literally, step-by-step), and it just crashed at that point.
However, it turns out that there is another external module that is not supported and should not even be in the sources. Let me know if you encounter the same problems.
I have been using this rom for about a month now, good so fare.
But since a couple of days I'm starting to have some bugs (like the music lagging and even stopping when I'm doing other things on my phone) and some lags from time to time. Sometimes it's really smooth, but most of the time it's very slow and not confortable to use.
Any ideas how I could speed it up and make it smoother ? I already overcloked it

Sony Z1 C pure Marshmallow

Good evening to all the community,
I haven't been here for some some time.... since I had my HTC Hero.
This was a phone that I installed so many custom ROM... Back in the days Android was not so developed and the demand was enormous...
But back to what I mention on the topic,
I am really disappointed with Sony, this phone costed me a lot of money, and not even two years have passed and they just don't give a FXXX.
Is there any way to install a pure android Marshmallow on Xperia Z1 Compact ?
And another thing... can we remove this big notification banners, as for whatsapp or hangouts... it's annoying...
Thank you for you attention!
The two years = no further support is completly normal. No difference in brands there.
Clean marshmallow? Possible. Bugfree? No. Take a look at fxp: http://fxpblog.co/aosp/aosp-6-0/
I find latest 5.1.1 update from Sony to be a good one, and I do not regret buying and owning this phone for two years Not loads of custom ROMs, but CM has always been good.
When CM13 nightlies start rolling and gets stable enough, I'll jump over to the custom ROMs wagon and enjoy bleeding endge Android again

Something like this http://s9.postimg.org/7oqzyxzkv/Screenshot_20151205_191800.png ??
If you realy want to try Marshmallow you need to download unoficial build AOSP_M_151019_amami.zip from http://fxpblog.co/aosp/aosp-6-0/ and since these build can't boot I have fixed bootloop with recompiling kernel booth for boot.img and recovery.img, so simple replace recovery.img and boot.img with this new one https://mega.nz/#!ABhFTCLA!A55h9N0DQfJgi5Yxa9mmk3CrLlP_hEKOTDamZs6kaxs and try! And one more thing, its not for daily usage since audio is not working, camera...etc!
is there some video of rom online ?

Question,
Is this the "default ROM" for Sony's android : http://developer.sonymobile.com/kno...e/open-devices/list-of-devices-and-resources/ ?
Is there a similar way to install this as as having a "Pure Android Version" ?

Will we have a Custom Marshmallow (Android 6.X.X) for Xperia ZL?

One of the best features of 6.0 is the SD use as domestic, I'm on my tablet and is very helpful. It comes to hardware, the Xperia ZL has power to spare to run the Marshmallow.
However, I saw nothing official and unofficial nothing yet, OmniRom being AOSP, CM13, Resurrection, Paranoid, Omega, Exodus, etc ... In other words, it seems that no one is working on it, which I think is a shame, such a good player.
But still have a glimmer of hope, someone knows something, it is planned, expectation of a Custom ROM?:good:

What great news!
Thank you very much!
A bad news, dev of CM12.1 likely gave ZL up.
He didn't update anything about kernel, libs, blobs, drivers or some device fix.
Even ZL hasn't had TWRP v3 yet...
Now we know all the Sony device facing camera issue.
Then no dev, no new rom. :crying:

As the maintainer of the Xperia ZL I do not know, but we continue to have in the Builds Nightlys:
https://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=odin
And we already have the TWRP v3.0
https://dl.twrp.me/odin/
If I'm not mistaken, the Phill already updated the Dual recovery as well.
The problem of camera I do not know what it is, what happens? (I'm not using a lot).

Oh, I'm using TWP v3 now. Thank u for telling me! :highfive:
Though we are supported by CM, we can only get CM general update. We have several device/kernel issues, they won't be solved anymore unless there's someone continues to maintain the project and not only let it get cross-device updates of CM.
As I know, we have these issues:
1. HDR camera isn't here.
2. Live Display can't switch back to day mode from night mode in automatic.
3. Not smooth about graphic, my friend's HTC Butterfly is better.
4. The lowest brightness isn't the real lowest (1%), in fact it's about 20% of brightness.
5. I'm surprised that we use ondemand as our default governor…

I hope these can be solved in Resurrection Remix M.
I don't expect too much about CM12.1 now.
Even few people discuss about it…

Could I install CM13 for Xperia Z3 Compact on a Z1 Compact?

Since CyanogenMod still hasn't released a CM13 for the Sony Xperia Z1C, I'm looking for alternatives. I saw this thread about all the Marshmallow ROMs out there and I might give them a try, but I want something that will be receive regular updates, and I know that's not true of all those custom ROMs. (Although I don't know much about the Android Ice Cold Project. What is that? They've built a Marshmallow ROM for the Z1C. Should I just use that?)
Since the Xperia Z3 Compact has CM13 support, I'm considering just installing that CM13 build on my Z1C. How terrible an idea is this? Is this the absolute worst idea? Could it work? Are the Z3C and Z1C radically different?
Thanks!

Probably not, but... 1) you can try porting. There are at least 2 extensive threads in cross dev forum about how-to, and since the phones are similar, it is probably not too hard. However, you would have to port every update, I think. 2) there is an unofficial CM13 you could flash in the thread you linked.
I'm currently testing the unofficial build and i'm having some problems. When i have a stable setup, i'll document my results here.
For know CM13 for Z1c is definitely possible, but i don't know at what cost.
Currently i'm fighting with getting root access to work properly and getting rid of a Strict-Mode-like red blinking frame border which is most prominent when opening the notifications (very annoying).

Fixed the red frame issue using the alternate fix of this guide:
adding
Code:
persist.sys.strictmode.visual=0
persist.sys.strictmode.disable=1
to build.prop
Root "issue" isn't really one as CM provides root access by default when enabled, but trying to flash SuperSU latest failed, apparently due to an already existing installation (which is not the case).
I'm going to try out other MM roms for now and will go back to LP if there is no 'stable' one (performance).
Wait, I may have been mistaken. I thought there was an official CM 13 build for the Z3c, but it appears there's only an official CM 12. My bad! I'm gonna try the AICP MM build for the Z1c instead.

I can recommend you aicp for amami. It is stable, and fully working, camera is the best of mm roms for z1c.
