Has anyone figured out how to adjust the screen tone to make the screen appear less of a cool or bluish tone? Coming from another more color accurate LCD device, the blue tone instead of white bugs me.

Care to elaborate further? I just tried the different options listed under the Vision menu, none of them had any impact on the blue tinting.

Accessibility > Vision > Screen Color Adjustment
Tap it and it will show a picture of jelly beans or M&Ms or something. Think of it as a grid. Center is the neutral zone.
However this will NOT change the color the white balance, only the gamma of the colors.
My LG G Tab X8.3 has a high red HUE. Comparing the G4s blueish tone against the X8.3s redish tone, is horrible. I prefer the softer bluer tones. There is an app in the Play Store to actually adjust the colors, but it is basically just an overlay. It caused me lots of lag, delay, missed touches, etc.
A custom kernel is the only way to properly adjust the LCD colors on a low level, without an app.
Actually My G4 H811 has Screen Mode hidden in settings but it does not make any effect. I wish it works on other models or at least on the rooted H815. To enable hidden feature, Need to create a Widget with Nova launcher a choose Activities. Then scroll and expand Settings and look for Screen Mode.
Gotcha thanks. I'm debating on trying this phone again, my S3 died and honestly I've had way too many uniformity and inconsistencies with AMOLED displays, so I want to stick with an IPS display. I've been using my old iP5s and I can't stand it, I need to get something ASAP. Just wish I could bring the white balance back to a neutral white, then maybe I'd be more content with the phone.
That... and better gaming performance.

Ok so I just wanted some1 to test something for me. I want to know if the yellow tint can be cancelled with a gradient overlay. So done an little app to test this.
Need some1 who has this yellow tint really bad and can see it very easily.
Again this is just a test and may amount to nothing, I need volunteers as I don't have this defect enough to see it accurately at 20% brightness.
The app is safe as there is no burn in mode yet. Just the ability to custom create a 3 point gradient from left to right with variable pixel widths for each segment.
So if anyone can test that has this really bad, that would be great.

Start, Mid, End buttons set the settings panel to control the points (LEFT to RIGHT)
P = position
R = red
G = green
B = blue
A = alpha
So if you have a yellow tint, then you want to start with blue and alpha etc!
Updated the app to default all 3 points to 119,119,119 a 255 so the starting points are the same col as the bg

If it does actually do something, then I will probably have nice sliders and ability to save setting etc. Just cant be arsed doing that if it's a none starter.

Mine has the yellow tint on the left side but I'm having trouble figuring out how to use this app. It does seem to be changing gradients.
I should have made the gradients to default to gray, will alter and put new version up later today, may do a little vid on how to use also

Well, if some1 can manage to do an inverse gradient to their yellow tint, then I would enable saving in the app, and enable burn-in, that does just that, full brightness pixel values for extended periods of time to tint the display inversely to the yellow tint, thus attempting to lessen the effect.
Ideally I want some1 with a bad example tint who also has no way to return their phone to try it
Hello to all!!.. is possible to find an application to tweak the saturation of the SGS2 screen!!?... it has the worst color rendition I saw in a cellular screen, I work in photography I can not even show the pictures in my telephone!!... I like this phone but with the screen of the iphone, miles away better.

Thanks for your feedback, the only problem is the Saturation slider, it does not work on my SGS2 and that slider is the most important
Besides that, that application is not done in good way, the RGB sliders has to modify de levels of color not the levels of brightness as the application do.
Moving all the sliders to the left has to decrease saturation not brightness as it does in a wrong way.

I`m disappointed too with the screen colours.If I take a picture of white walls it seems to have a white-green colour.In my old HTC HD2 with HyperDroid-CM7-2.3.7,the white was brilliant white.If I put the same picture that I taked with the HTC in my SGSII,the white looks a lot greener.Is there a fix for that problem?

The colors of SGS2 are pure crap, I dont understand why there are lot of people interested in develop a firmware but they forget this part that is really important, you pay lot of money for a phone that gives you crap colors, totally biased and has no possibility to calibrate them.
Totally agree...My old HD2 with 5MP camera takes a lot better photos than SGSII.The problem is RGB calibration of the screen,not the camera.

Yes, I refer to the color rendition of the screen.
+1 for this... couldn't find any screen tuner/gamma adjuster/saturation adjuster or whatsoever for i9100 that work in ICS...
And my screen is way too blueish... and color is washed....

The gamma should not be modified, if some app is modifying the gamma is doing the wrong thing, it should modify RGB values or saturation remaining the brightness constant.

What you are looking for is the Kelvin temperature to change, changing the gamma curve will change the behavior of brightness and color and that is not the way.
The controls that should have the telephone are real RGB controls without modifying the brightness, Temperature and Saturation, even better Contrast (but it should not change the colors), with that controls you could calibrate the screen the way best fit to you.
Maybe that's the control that included in CM9...
Nice feature that I came across while exploring the Settings.
No longer do we need to mod the apks in order to change the apps to dark background, which some of us prefers, because we believe a darker screen saves battery. In this case, just need to tick the check box of "Settings - Accessibility - Negative Colors".

A dark display on SAMOLED does save battery. And changing this setting makes everything white, no? Your post is confusing.
It turns the background to Black, a screenshot won't be able to capture it.
And you can access it by holding the power key, you just need to enable the accessibility shortcut option.

It not only turns background black, it just inverts colors.meaning if its black, it can become white and vice versa, but if there are color they too will turn negative like in those photos...
Its usefulness is beyond my comprehension :s

Hey im still noobish about quite a few things and im wanting to know about what changing colors on my device do...I've heard that it helps battery somewhat but i didn't know if anything else. Like making certain colors pop more or whatever. Just curious about what some peoples thoughts are on this and if anyone has their phone set a certain way with colors that makes their phone "pop" out or looks better.....i would like to see some screenshots and what settings you guys have on your device....much appreciated if anyone can show and help me out. Thanks

Sweet....thanks, so what does that all do to your device? Battery battery life, better color saturation or whatever? I'd like to know the point of doing this to the device and benefits...or if its just for personal fun

all it does is adjust the screen color/gamma. any difference in battery life would be a placebo effect. it might sound kind of pointless but i know that i and probably alot of other people would go insane if we lost the ability to adjust the screen like this. im a sucker for screen with lots of gamma reduction, the colors look so much more crisp and vivid; you can make it look damn good. decreasing the gamma will help make the colors crisper and less washed out, and the blacks blacker. you can also change the color balance -- some people notice a yellowish tint on the stock rom, adjusting the color values you can completely remove any tint and achieve a pretty true white.
edit: regarding screenshots, you wont see anything from a screenshot. screenshots show what the system is rendering, not what the screen is displaying. heres my settings, they may be a little too dark for you:

Thanks for explaining this to me....i known screenshots wouldn't show the difference. I meant just a screenshot of peoples settings....so this is what i have that i can change...i think some peoples are different. Any suggestions? Lol

Yeah some people's are slightly different, it dependant on the rom they are running. It's hard so say what to set yours at, some screens just don't look the same as others at the same settings. I would just get a few pictures you really like, put them on you sd card and use them as a reference to adjust them, just pick whatever looks best to you, that's what I did.
If you use Franco kernel updater app, trickster or tkt from play store you will have more options. Gives you ability to calibrate the screen to correct for poor color, mine is beautiful, that's why I can't leave this phone.

Settings will be different from display to display. Also from brightness settings can potentially have an effect on how things look too. Unfortunately there is no universal plug in these numbers and your display will look great. Also, a bit of subjectivity can come into play here as well. As mentioned using a picture of something you know and adjusting settings until it looks right is a great idea.

Not automatically, you will need to put in things manually look up calibration color galaxy nexus as there are lots of posts and charts saying what people use, pick one that is close and tweak it from there

I've recently purchased 2 LG G3 from T-mobile and strangely, the screen colors on those two appear to be quite different? (one seems to be warmer and sort of darker, I have two screen at the same brightness level)
The easiest way to tell the difference is to pull out the setting screen where there are menu options in white background, the colors on the white backgrounds are clearly different on two devices. I've also tried to compare the two I have with another G3 in T-mobile store, and the 3rd one doesn't have the same color to any of mine G3's. The color adjustment settings on all 3 devices are OFF, I've tried to factory reset the devices I owned but nothing changed. Anyone notice the same issue with your G3?
Also I notice there's a code on the back of the back cover of the G3, does that code represent anything? Is it okay to swap the back covers of the 2 G3's with same model?

That's just the QC tolerance from what I understand. My korean G3 has warmer colors while my D850 has cooler ones. You can swap back covers without any issues so don't worry about that. Anyway back to the displays, you can download an app to adjust the color tone. At the end of the day it's just how that particular display is.

Yeah, I've never had a chance to compare two devices with the same model. I've always expected them to have the same exact screen colors.
Could you point me to some apps that can adjust screen color tone? The Color Adjustments setting under Accessibility setting menu is just for contrast, right?
Trickster mod if you are rooted is a good one. Just search the play store for it there should be quite a few out there.
