Its a bit laggy sometimes, especially if you have too many apps/games installed or have installed a 3rd party launcher/shell. Best way to speed up is to root, remove bloatware and install a custom rom. I am currently using CYAN rom by v_singh (find in Desire 616 Development), its pretty fast with Nova Launcher.

Thank you so much for the reply, i thought this forum is dead now, anyways can you please tell me or give me a link to root and change the rom because i havent done this before, another thing, is it safe to root( as if i sell this in the market someday) will the new root effects the price or anything like that?
PS: you talked about the Nova launcher, believe me if i installed any launcher from google store, it makes my mobile complete dead or slowly, so i have to bring battery out and have to reset. My internal rom only have 2 apps thats it, rest of them are in external card but still it lags, i thought its octa core it will work fast but it is worst the quad core.

If its lagging too much with only a few apps, first try resetting the phone to factory settings and then start using it again. If it still lags, you need to take it to service centre as it may be the problem with the device hardware.
Anyways, rooting will only create a problem if the device is still under warranty, as HTC will not reapair or replace it in case anything goes wrong, Not free of charge at least. Otherwise, rooting is very easy and the best solution to your problem.
Below are some links to help you in rooting and making the phone faster than ever.

[Q] whats wrong with my DHD???

My DHD is like 2 months old and I admit that it has lots of apps on it. it started to lag and I found out that turning the usb debugging on solved the problem and everything is smooth and fine but after I root it with visionary v14 it started to lag badly in sometimes and it will never return normal unless I restart and I never turn fast boot on. So then I used ADW launcher. It reduces the lag but not that much. Then at last after reading forums I found out that flashing buzz kernel is one solution so I tried it and it succeed to reach up to 1.5Ghz and solves the lag problem. Everyone in the forum said that it runs really smoothly and has no problem but for my phone, after 2 days, it freezes and restart and then just now when I was charging, it started to freeze and one way to get out of it is to pull out the battery. What is wrong with my DHD? it seems that I have one of the slowest DHD it scored only 1700 on quadrant standard at 1Ghz. please help me...
thanks in advance
anyone can help me?
Try installing osmonitor or any task manager, try to look at each process, identify which ones are busy using the cpu..
Alternatively, try turning off auto-sync..
Ive installed all of them and my auto-sync is off. when I open my osmonitor, everything is 0% except the os monitor and the android system...
thx for the reply though

it could be the undervolt in the buzz kernel that's causing the instability and reboots .... it did for me btw i have over 500 apps on my phone and it runs fine (apart from sence fc'ing if i try to use my phione too soon after boot) lol

Hmm, disadvantages? I've seen almost none apart from certain apps not gingerbread friendly, eg: need for speed shift.. Other than that, it's just a plain new android system, and not clutter over fancy ui such as sense.
You can try reading the step-by-step tutorial in the android developement thread. There are currently 3 (i guess) different compilation of cm7, but still the same none the less..
I love the one in my signature, u can try to check it out.. happy flashing..

[Q] why htc desire hd lags ?

i had xperia x10 which lags too much due to short of ram then i shifted to desire hd as its have large ram but still it lags esp during games
i have almost 870 mb free internal memory and almost 380 free mb ram then why its lagging ?
Which games are you playing? And which ROM are you on?
Many CPU intensive games nowdays are built for multi-core CPU's and since our DHD is only a single core device it has some performance issues..
I think it depend on type of game you play and type of rom you use. If you use official rom of DHD and play some games built for, there's no lags.

Why are you using Android 2.2 froyo? You have to upgrade your rom to 2.3.x gingerbread. I think with this you'll have a better RAM management and be able to play easily game like racing moto. It's my opinion.

Well, our desire hd isn't that bad now that it won't run temple run, in fact it can play lots of games much more heavier much more efficiently.but you really need to root your phone first. Just go to android development section and read the sticky threads..
( before doing that, I would suggest you reset your phone once and install games and apps again and see..., the lag might be due to corrupt files too.....)

about rooting. i have tried z4 and visionary for temp root both gave successful message at the end but when i checked my phone it was not rooted.. however for permanent root the procedure is very difficult for me as i am not a advanced user all the procedures gone over my head so i decided not to take risk.. if you have any easy one click root method then please share with me.

Well good your problem got resolved, congrats .. And given your situation, you being a girl, well the only thing that you would be doing after rooting is flashing newer and fancy roms some with bugs and some with less bugs, and I don't quite see a girl doing that on her phone all the time, girls got lots of other stuff to care for.. So my advice, stay away from rooting as long as you don't really run into some functional problem with official Rom which is very less likely, so switch on your Desire HD, click Temple run, and start Running and enjoy your cell

[Q] How can i make my Note 2 smoother?

Hello guys,
First i want to apologize for my bad english. I hope you can understand some of my words
My problem : i really like my note 2 and i had a s3 before, but sometimes my phone ist really laggy.
I tried everything and it is still not smooth. The animation when i open an app or closing by pressing the homebutton is not always, but often laggy.
This is really annoying , because i tested the note 2 in the shop and it feels really smooth.
First my phone runs smooth at all, but after a month it starts to lag. After a fullwipe and custom rom and kernel the problem is still there. I tried over 40 roms and with every Kernel. Can you help me to solve my problem and make my phone smooth as the nexus 4 or galaxy nexus?
Best regards from germany

Hi,
I must say that if you've tried multiple roms and kernels, and wiping it every time, then it must be a hardware fault. I have only flashed my device once, it's stock, and it's very smooth almost every since moment of every single day. This device is VERY powerful. It shouldn't lag, especially not after a recent format. Is it possible you've killed something in it by accident? Dropped it? Kicked it? Liquid in it? Something short-circuiting?
It just seems strange that a newly formatted device would lag. Have you tried stock?

Hi, this is a warning. My Note 2 started to become laggy just before it suddenly died from Sudden Death Syndrome (SDS)
A Note 2 is one of the most powerful devices on the market and it SHOULD NOT LAG UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES and mine never did, until the week it died.

Everything is working well and i never dropped my phone. I don't think, that this is a hardware fault because i had these lags with my S3 too. And most of my friends have a s3 too and i can see these laggs too. I am searching for a mod or app, which makes my Phone smoother. I've tried seeder, no different.
But thank you for your answer!
I have checked my chip with the app emmc brick bug check and it says that i got the sane chip with no sudden death. I should be safe.
Try rubbing some butter on your phone, that should make it smooth!
Or you could go Aosp.

I have both an S3 in my house and a Note 2 (my personal device), what are you doing and I can tell you if I'm getting any lag doing something. Because the S3 doesn't lag too much. Its only fault in my opinion is the lack for the extra gig of ram, but to do every day activities + gaming, it's a great device. The Note 2 hasn't lagged on me yet :s. I mean, come on! 4 cores and 2 gb of ram.
So, let us know what you're doing and how to reproduce the lag and I'd be more than happy to check it out with you. But I seriously think there is something wrong with your device if it lags on EVERY rom and EVERY kernel. That shouldn't happen.
Gaming, scrolle through the homescreens are very smooth. But when i open an app and press the homebutton, then the animation is very laggy. Most of the time my note is smooth , but only the animation while opening and closing apps is very laggy.
Yes i tried aosp and it is perfectly smooth, but the Touchwiz features and the s pen are the main reason, why i bought this phone. So i want to keep my Touchwiz Features but make my system more smooth.
Hello
I would recommend you to try this, I've been using this setup for a while now and it's the smoothest experience I've had with the phone yet, install stock ROM through ODIN, with the galaxy note 2 toolkit from this forum do the root plus custom recovery plus busy box plus rename option, freeze whatever Samsung apps you don't use, i will try to attach a screen shot to show you which ones I froze, install a custom kernel like perseus, red pill, or others, I prefer these two, and in the GPU tab change the minimum frequency to 260mhz, the maximum to 640, check set on boot, install greenify from the play store and check all the apps that you don't want running all the time and the reboot and check the performance after a couple days of use, please report back if i helped in any way.
Just one more screen shot
Idk if this will help but try it
Took me 15 min yo find the post
The problem was flashed s3 ROM then went back to note 2 ROM and phone became so laggy..
The solution was:
Flash this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2003240
via odin (pda) aswell as the .pit file.
for some reason this was the only rom that cleared up all my issues.
I take no credit for this as this was another users find..
Hope it helps .. Give it a shot

Yes, I've read of people with an s3 flashing note 2 firmwares and people with a note 2 flashing s3 firmwares too, the main problem was lag and the only solution was to flash a full firmware that corresponded to the device, interesting, did any of us help you at all?
Thanks a lot guys!
I tried to freeze all the apps i don't need, with the result, that it laggs less now. Thanks
But ut it is still lagging sometimes. It is possible to make it smooth like the nexus4 without flashing a aosp rom?

I installed the Sentinel rom for the note 2 which has been super smooth. Compiled with the Linaro compiler and it runs quicker than I've ever seen an android phone run. Only issue (as with all cm10 roms) is the lack of spen functionality but I think it's worth the sacrifice.

Ok. I flashed my Phone with odin and have done a fullwipw in the stock recovery. All ist fine and smooth, but the Animation is still a bit laggy. After flashing my custom rom, the phone ist still the same like before flashing and with stock rom.
Does anyone knows about a mod or something like that which boost my Phone?

OK try this ..
Flash a custom kernel.. Perseus is the best.
Force System to render on GPU .. Comes with ROMs like phoenix and ARHD..
Overclock GPU (to around 733 MHz) and CPU (make sure you lower the voltage for 1700 and 1800 MHz)
This should make your phone smooth since it put less power on CPU and put it on GPU which you don't use it a lot.. And GPU makes graphics run better..
Sent from my GT-N7100
Ok. I flashed ARHD and then Redpill Kernel. Set the max. GPU frequenz to 733mhz and then reboot. After reboot it feels the same . It has the same laggs while starting or closing apps. It is not always, but often.
I think it is Touchwiz that slows my quadcore beast down. But i don't want aosp because i use my s pen a lot and the other features too. Is there a way to keep my touchwiz features and a smooth rom?
Flashing another devices rom has its consequences. Worst case is wipe and start over. Have you tried Tweakbox?

[Q] Xperia Arc S performance advice

So I'm stuck in a contract with my Xperia Arc S until next year but it has virtually ground to a halt. I have to wait 10+ seconds for my messages to open on a good day. Every app takes a long time to do anything and I've had to limit my app usage heavily due to this.
I close all non-essential apps through the Manage Applications option of the Settings regularly and still I only really have approx >20 MB RAM left at any point.
I also delete all my messages regularly and don't use any other message applications aside from the stock app.
I'm not running ICS, but rather the original Ginger Bread that came with the phone.
I've tried using a different Home Launcher app to reduce the number of home screens, but it had very little noticeable impact.
My question is what do I do? I'm happy to root, install custom roms etc at this point, I just want my phone to be useable until I upgrade next year.
I have some experience with Android phones but very little technical knowledge to do with hacking/rooting devices so you'll have to bear with me. Any advice will be much appreciated.
Cheers
If you are a casual user and you don't need high performance, I recommend upgrading to ICS. ICS update hasn't got the best performance (in fact the GPU is slower than in GB), but you'll get enough free memory for casual usage.
If you are looking a bit of both, I recommend either using CM or CM based roms. If you got used to Xperia look and feel, put this ROM, for better battery life put stock CM. But beware, unlocking the bootloader will void your warranty, so if you think that you will run into issues and can't fix them yourself, do not unlock it.
I've no experience with Ginger Bread, but maybe clearing app cache and rebooting the phone every one or two days could help?
If the performance once was better and you don't want to root: save your apps, messages and contacts and do a factory reset.
stay on gingerbread, root yout phone, remove useless system app and install greenify.

Or try to install some custom rom, they have previusly removed all useless stuff.
I upgraded to ICS to give it a go before I did a factory reset, and I'm really surprised to say my phone has never been faster. Managed to unlock a lot more RAM, app management seems to be a lot less stunted and easier to implement. A few more stock apps than GB and I prefer the look. I'm a bit confused at all the posts saying ICS is worse. Maybe it will slow down over time, but just right now I feel like I got a new phone.

If you do not notice the tiny details, you do not notice them.
When you open the phone pad, it does take a while to open it. The notification LED does not work (not performance related though) and some other issues.

Compared to how my phone was the phone pad is lightning fast. I haven't actually noticed the LED thing but now that you mention it. Of course I'm aware of the CPU issues and other stuff, but I've spent the last few months getting really miffed at my phone because it was basically an expensive brick which took years to open a message and the really negative consensus about ICS put me off updating which has solved all my casual user issues.
Now that I know about this site, I'm going to get to know Android a bit better, but for now the tiny details are negligible for me at least.
Just checked my LED and it works fine for all the notifications I receive.

Your question will not get you a clear answer as you need to match your specific user profile and previous devices with those saying the device is laggy. I do not find my Tab S 10.5 laggy on stock, rooted 5.0.2. I'm not a gamer and mainly use the device for media consumption (reading news, YouTube, Netflix and email), none of which is too taxing. I replaced the stock launcher with Nova Prime launcher and used Titanium Backup to freeze the majority of bloat wear which reduced the start times and memory used. My previous devices are a Nexus 5 phone and a Nexus 10 tablet.
Using this kind of analysis you may be able to determine if this tablet is "laggy" for your personal usage profile.

Root?
Thanks for the reply,
May I ask why you rooted it? Didn't you like the bloatware, or was it kinda not responsive?
I'm not sure where and when this lag occurs, but I've never experienced it.
However I'm not a gamer.
It doesn't lag in games in my experience. However, IMO it lags when you are switching between apps and launching apps, which is weird because I often use the multiwindow feature and the tablet is clearly capable of running two apps at the same time.
Btw, the reason why some people think it doesn't lag is because lag is a very subjective issue. What I consider lag may be totally acceptable to others.

I think it's mostly down to TouchWiz not the hardware. Just too much bumpf under the hood.
Samsung need to learn that most people don't want all that baggage and to provide a more minimal experience. They can always offer the extras as optional downloads.
However I must say things like Web browsing have improved with lollipop and the stock browser. Its about the smoothest experience of all the available browsers.

Oh yes. Having used a Nexus 4 I know how smooth stock android can be. Samsung installs way too much crap on their devices, but I like the multi window feature too much to give up touchwiz. Last I heard the multiwindow feature still hasn't been implemented in AOSP Marshmallow.
Stock browser is amazing. I used to use chrome but it lagged like crazy. Not sure how Google can screw up chrome that badly, but then again chrome is a resource hog even on Windows.
NEver be a gamer on tablet, i always use it for media comsumption.
but, yeah, it's kinda laggy because my tablets installed with pre installed apps + full google apps.
And it's kinda lag sometime.
If you have Root, install Kernel Aduitor (free). The only thing you need to change is the Min CPU freq, 250 mhz is pretty slow.
450 or 650 mhz get things snappy.

Thanks for the reply,
May I ask why you rooted it? Didn't you like the bloatware, or was it kinda not responsive?

I rooted for a few reasons. Proper device backups with Titanium Backups, superior audio with Viper4Android, Stickmount and immersion mode with GDM Gesture Control plus it's customized gestures. I use those root apps on all my devices.
I froze apps as several were being automatically started at boot time slowing down startup and unnecessarily using memory. I wanted a cleaner experience. The unwanted apps also clutter up your app menu, making it slightly more difficult to find the app you wanted to start. In general I freeze over removing as you cannot use that much of the freed up space except for SuperSU, Viper4Androis and Busybox. There are a few more but far less than the space freed by removing bloat wear.
I also dark themed TW settings and the notification bar as I cannot stand white backgrounds with black text but that was secondary to the root reasons listed above.
Due to the ability to root without tripping KNOX I could root without loosing my warranty. Without that I would have waited for a year until the warranty expired.

Does that work on the stock kernel if you are rooted?

Hi guys,
I am planning to buy the Tab S with the Exynos processor in the Netherlands, but 50% of the people says it lags like hell, and the other 50% says it is really smooth and the best thing you can buy!
I can't decide whether it is good or not ( it has Android L).
Please help me out!
Kind Regards

For what it's worth, b4 I rooted I used Package Disabler pro and disabled 104 different services/packages. It made a huge difference and everything worked just fine. But, I got the rooting fever and now I'm even happier with my Tab S.
