But thanks! This video helped with the pics/descriptions of the other threads.

I rooted my VS986 yesterday morning on a Windows 8.1 x64 machine following the directions in the G4 Original Development thread. Took maybe 20 minutes to get all the files and successfully root.

You clicked download instead of download now. If you extract the ZIP and you only see a single exe called LG G4 Root or similar, DO NOT INSTALL! This is adware/malware. Click on the other download link, and when you extract it you should see 6-8 files with the needed Send_Command and adb files.

Oh yeah, FYI through* if you want to edit the title lol

LG G3 Hardbrick

Hello, I went into retard mode and tried to flash TWRP using CloudyFa's app that is designed for the G2 (experimentation is dangerous ). Basicly his app wrote over the Bootloader, Baseband and recovery partition. So is there any way to manually flash the LG G3 partitions back onto the device? It wont charge (visibly), wont boot, wont go into download mode and wont go into recovery. It's pretty dead. Anyone who can, please help! Thanks!
EDIT: Issue sorted. New G3 inbound!

Thank you sir! I just thought to myself before I did it "Oh, what if the file system and partition layouts are similar on the G2 to the G3, may aswell flash some G2 stuff and see what happens!" xD Still, things like that need lokified and ported to run on the G3. When and IF I get a new G3 (A few days hopefully) Ill have a look at actual development as i'd love to get a working build of CWM ported over. But that is probably unlikely as I dont have a huge knowledge in Android. I've ported plenty of roms, eg: Chasmodo's Asylum from the N7000 to run on the Nexus 5 (It worked ) But I've no experience in tinkering with recoveries!
@Fauert @ant78 They are sending out a new G3, it will be here on Wednesday! Once again fantastic customer service from Three! :victory:

[Q] Need help rooting Lg G3 Vs985

So Friday i went to verizon and bought me a new LG G3 phone, 32G memory 3G RAM, you know the good **** LOL. Well when i got home i wanted to root the phone but when i looked it up there was many options, IOROOT, TowelRoot, and Stump Root. So i tried towel root on the phone but when i clicked the button towel root said my device isnt compatible and my phones build is the VS98510B. So at that point i decided to try IOROOT. When i launched the batch file i made sure i made myself a developer, got the proper drivers, made it connect via usb and set the phone connection to Ethernet. Well in the batch file it said everything was good and that i just needed to click any button to continue well i did that but when i clicked a button it simply closed the batch file. All i clicked was the space bar and it closed. Stump root isnt compatible and im afraid to use bruteforce mode. Any one got any help with this? Andriod Kitkat 4.4.2
Use the brut force method in stump. Takes about 5 minutes.

I used stump root. My phones still works. You can't install twrp because bootloader is still locked, have to wait for a way to unlock it.

Read a bit here TWRP is a recovery and backup software for when you flash a custom ROM.. You're not flashing any custom ROMs just yet.. So... I don't think you need to backup anything just yet. After you root the phone you can use TWRP to backup your current stock ROM .. Good luck ..
:good:
I used ioroot with no problems. Check out this vid, pretty straight fwd on what you need to do.

[Q] PLEASE HELP! LG G3 Bricked?

So, on Thursday I picked up an LG G3 from Verizon. I was absolutely loving it. But like most people, I wanted custom ROM's and roots and all the fun stuff you can do with android phones. I rooted my device the day I got it with IORoot. Everything is working fine at this point.
After this, i wanted a custom ROM. I found that there wasn't many for my specific model, but i did see the Sphinx G3 Neo ROM. I payed no attention to what variant it was for and loaded it up on my phone. At first, everything was working perfectly and it was butter smooth. But then I noticed whatever messaging app I tried to use would not work. I did a factory reset and then did the same process to load Sphinx on my G3. This time, messages were working, however, mobile data was not. I finally had enough of this and decided to return to the stock ROM. I found all of the stock files and was attempting to use the TOT method. I put the phone in download mode (which it won't come out of btw) and tried to start flashing. I then realized what I had done and saw that my device was reading something like D855. So when I downloaded the Verizon files it wont work. But will I be able to fix this? Have any of you had this problem before? This phone is brand new and I cannot replace it at this point. I would really appreciate it if someone could help me out.
Hi,
So sad to hear that. Have you tried TOT files from this thread?
I hope your imei is intact.

I don't it is bricked per say. I do believe that the only way to solve the problem will be to do as you were trying, return it to stock with .tot files, you just need to find some information which I did see in the threads somewhere with regards to getting out of download mode.
Once you get that done and flash back to stock, then you can root again, I would suggest using Stump root, and the unlock the bootloader with Bump, and this would be a good time to make a backup with the recovery TWRP.
Be calm and read as much as possible, I hope you sort it out. Good luck.

Can you elaborate on how to do it exactly please?
The process will be different depending on your device. You need to get the stock image for your particular variant of the G3 and flash it.
Google either "unbrick LG G3" or "flash LG G3 stock image" or "TWRP, partition does not exist LG G3".
The process I used on the N7 will be different than the one on this device. I actually had to use ADB and CMD command prompts for the N7.
ADB is Android Debugging Bridge. You may need to Google that as well and watch some YouTube videos. Some if them can be very helpful.

HELP: ROOTING the Att LG GPad 7 v410 Lollipop....SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME?

Let me start by saying I APOLOGIZE, As I know this may not be the right section but I've asked there as well and couldn't find help. I feel as though I've exhausted all my resources and still can't get my Gpad to root. I've tried the one click method, kingroot, towelroot, various ADB scripts. You name it I tried them all out there. Is there anyone out there that knows how I can get this device rooted? For the past 3 weeks alone my mission had been to simply very this tablet rooted.
Sorry but I think we are lost no Root for this tablet with lollipop 5.0.2 and the bad part no exist a KDZ or TOT to back to stock.
Damn that's what I was fearing. I may just have to return it as, being NON ROOTED is not an option for me. I'll probably get a Nexus.

Not saying that I don't believe you, but would you mind posting screenshots? I'm terribly curious.
And if you are cool with it, I'd like to work with you to get a dump of the 5.0.2 ROM. Maybe we can package it in to a zip for others.
Thanks!

Excellent. Thank you!
This tablet came to me as 5.0.2 and I rooted it with LG One Click Root. Then while trying to fully enable tethering and half drunk I partially-bricked it (it would boot to a black screen and after a moment start adbd) so I flashed the 4.4.2 test-keys image and successfully rooted again with One Click Root (obviously). The trick is to change the COM port of the download mode driver from COM21 to COM17, as One Click Root expects the device to use COM17. Before starting, boot into download mode with the button combo (powered off, hold volume up while plugging in USB cord) and use Device Manager to change the port of the "LGE Mobile USB Serial Port" to COM17. It may take a few moments for the tablet to show up in Device Manager. Reboot the tablet. Now One Click Root will run through smoothly in one shot.
