After some water damage and having dried for two days, i but in the battery and it shows as if the phone is always plugged in and charging.
Battery went from 80% to 100% while just sitting on my desk and then dropped to 12%. I tried completely draining the battery but it still does that after i've charged it a bit.
Any suggestions as to what i might do?
Sending it back is not an option, it's a unlocked T-mobile dash, and i live in canada.
Edit: Also, i googled and found nothing, one person has had the problem but he was told to send back his.
If I were you, I would take the phone apart and let it dry..
It may never completely dry out when water is trapped inside.
If it still does it after that, I would swap batteries.
After that....Ebay
This happened to me after plugging mine into a faulty charger. I swapped batteries with a friend, and confirmed that it was the phone which was fried. I ended up buying a Dash with a broken screen for cheap, swapping out the mainboard, then selling the broken mainboard/screen combo for like $20 on eBay.

I was charging my Epic4G Touch last night - it was around 40 percent, and I was going to spend all day out, so I wanted it fully charged. The phone gets a little warm when it charges, but that's normal. Well, I feel asleep, and I guess I was tired enough to put the phone underneath both of my pillows, aaaaand a fuzzy blanket.
I woke up this morning to the phone practically on fire - it was insanely hot, and it wouldn't turn on. I disassembled the phone - took the case off, took off the battery cover, and took the flaming hot battery out. After letting it cool down, I tried putting it back together, and the phone won't turn on. I tried plugging the phone into it's charger again, and the blue light flashes, the screen flashes on and shows the empty battery icon, then almost instantly turns off. The light itself is really dull.
I don't know what to do. Has anyone else had this problem, or have any ideas? I'm going to try again in a few minutes, but I'm in New York right now (I live in CT, USA), so I can't visit the Sprint Store with the owner of the line.

Hate to say it, but it sounds like the charger could have eaten your phone. I bought an E4GT about a year ago and the first thing I did was ditch the charger. Weird charge times and rendered the phone unusable while it was charging (would act erratically, charging resyults were inconsistent,
For me, this was corrected when I picked up another charger with the correct specs (5v, .7 amps). I stayed with OEM, but blew past the sprint store to avoid the ridiculous charges. Here are two that I picked up from Amazon:

They are very reasonably priced and I've not had any other issues.
In your case, however, you may want to take phone and charger into Sprint, as it sounds as if your phone may have suffered damage. If you get a new phone (via warranty or insurance), I would recommend getting one or both of the above chargers. Together, these two items are still much cheaper than one bought from Sprint.

I had a similar incident where my power was out & charged with my phone in my car (bad move but wasn't thinking in all the frenzy) and the same thing happened to my phone.. I pulled the battery let my phone sit for a while (a few hours) to cool off and it was back to normal.. You might want to try that, well give it a little longer.. I may have been lucky though

Well, after a day, things seem to be normal. I had to leave the battery out and alone for about 3 hours, but after, when I plugged it in, it started to charge again. So far, everything seems normal, including the battery life, so that's good.
Thanks to both of you. I don't think it was the charger, but picking up another charger is never a bad thing.
Check and see if the sides of your battery are bulged out at all. You should not be able to spin it on a table top for example. If it is at all, you should replace the battery.
Just make sure you spin it clockwise, if you spin it counterclockwise Steve Jobs well poltergeist out of your closet and eat your Epic touch.
He's still out for revenge.

Somehow my HTC One X (tegra 3) phone must have bricked itself overnight. It will not turn on and when I connect the charger lead the light does not come on.
Since the phone is still under warranty I take it to Phones 4u, the guy there reckons that it is a battery fault (which makes sense to me, given the circumstances). Anyway that was all last week, today I get a phone call from P4U saying that it's going to cost me £125 to repair it because it is not under warranty. They are claiming that the phone has been opened before and the VOID sticker is damaged as is a load of the shielding tape inside the phone. This came as quite a shock to me since I bought the phone "new" from them last year and it has never been opened in the time that I have had it.
My theory is that the phone has a fault that is going to cost a lot to repair so Phones4U (Would it have been sent to HTC?) have either claimed that the phone has been damaged or they have damaged it so they can thieve some money from me.
Anyway, back to the point, has anyone else had this issue if so does anyone know how to resolve it (or if that's feasible)?

I'm on the same boat
Mine was off and i put it to charge and noticed that it wasnt charging. no light! it reboots. I'm on 5% charge
nothing on ADB/fastboot.

hi there! first of all i want to apologize as my english is not perfect.
now the story, i have this problem for 3 months now. nothing helps to permanently fix this. it started one day, my battery runned out while i was surfing internet, phone switched off as it does normally. i did put in on charger (original) but no charging light came on, i checked it after few hours but no light where there, phone was dead! i didnt worry to much and just left it there over night to charge, but in the morning i found that red light is still not on, not charged and completely dead. i did every method metioned on any forum- holding buttons, pulling sim out combination nothing helped!!!! my HOX is rooted with custom rom and latest HBOOT version. i were so dissapointed that my warranty is void. then i decided to take phone apart, take battery out and measure its voltage with multimeter, so i did that and battery was 3.18v. so i cut USB lead and charged battery up to around 3.8v that was wery tricky to do as HOX's battery have odd connector, after that i did put every thing together and phone turned ON, i did charge it normally to 100% which measures 4.2v in APP. calibrated battery by deleting batterystats.bin file. next day battery went flat, and exactly same thing happened again. it must be something wrong happening when phone swithing off by it self, it does not switching off completely that causing it not reacting to butttons. SO i think if i put in freezer for 10-15min it will kill the battery and cut power to phones PCB (eq = battery pull) because any button combo is not = battery pool. so i wrapped it in cling film to prevent condinsation and kept phone in freezer for 15min. do not attack me with commets like "cold temp killing LI-ion battery for ever" i dont care i dont want to hear any of these stuff i did what knowing that, cuz there is no real solution to this problem! it is sounds like crazy! i know! im am russian so im used to do crazy stuff ) after i took it from freezer my HOX felt like ice.. hooked up charger and WOALIA!!! red light started to blink = battery to low to swith on. after half an hour red light came on persistant and my phone swithed ON without problems. after few weeks i replaced battery with other one but no joy! still same thing, i used to do this for months because sometimes i wasnt able monitor battery and turn phone off manually before it reaches 1% charge. I did not experienced any battery life shortening (at least i didnt spot any serious life drops) I SUSPECT THIS IS SOFTWARE RELATED PROBLEM, SO PLEASE IF ANY DEVELOPER OR ANY ONE WHO IS KNOWS WHAT EXACTLY CAN CAUSE THIS, PLEASE LOOK AT THIS CASE. NOW - solution! kind off..
when u did my methot if it worked for you of coure.. you need APP from Playstore - LLAMA location profiles. in LLAMA app you can create action based on event. se lets make event BATTERY under x% and create action for that - POWER OFF PHONE! set delay for 2min so u can stop ongoing event once u on charger and ur battery is less set %. I did set it for 5% and 2 min delay just to be on safe side. once battery reaches 5% charge action is created after 2 min, and phone turns off. dont try to power it ON!!! if u did by accident, just turn it off once it booted! dont ask me for help using LLAMA it is not complicated as it looks, play aroud with charged battery, experiment. u can add additional actions like play sound + screen on+ vibrate+ power off. if that helped u press thanks button as this text took me whole hour to type
AND PLEASE SOMEONE SORT THIS! AS HTC ONE X' PCB NEED TO BE CUT FROM POWER TO RESET AND START CHARGING. I DO THAT BY DEPLEATING BATTERY CHARGE WHRE PCB CUTS OFF POWER. SUB-ZERO TEMP DOES THAT TO BATTERY, BUT WE NEED REAL SOLUTION!!

I am pleased that I haven't had to do this! I argued with Phones4U a little more and they have agreed to replace the device, I think that the repair job was far too expensive for them to justify doing it. Hopefully will have a shiny new One X (or One X+ if they have no stock) by the end of today!

I keep my phone charging overnight. A few days ago I woke and found the phone dangerously hot near the port. Unplugged it, didn't think much of it. When I tried to charge it later on, it wouldn't charge. Noticed that the port looked burnt and there was a little melted plastic under the cover.
I just bought a replacement USB module. Changed it without problem. It still won't charge. Any idea what to do now?
Ok I double checked the connections and the battery connect wasn't on properly. Charges now . Also when I originally took off the cover to inspect, the battery was wet. Might've gotten some moisture from sitting on the window sill. The water indicator strip on the battery is red. So seems like all is good. Going to charge and see how it handles.
Thank god there was a Samsung Studio store near me that lets you try phones for 21 days for free. Note 4 has a nice build quality :good:
So I woke up this morning to find my Tab drained. I plugged it in for half an hour, then when I picked it up I noticed there was no charging indicator (the green liquid battery thing). So I thought maybe I didn't plug it in right. I reattached everything, tested the charger on another device, then plugged it back into the tab for about 2 hours...still no juice. I tried powering on and doing the reset thing. still nothing. I brought it to a Samsung service center and they said I have a faulty motherboard. Now I'm wondering how the hell that happened when I've been using this device for about 6 months (only 6 months) without any issues, no overheating or strange reboots or anything, and now just like that I have a motherboard issue? The kicker here is that they're charging 75% of the tablet price to fix it! What gives?! I purchased it from a non-samsung mall store so they said I can't claim warranty. I popped the back off and did the battery pull thing and tried to charge - still nothing. Did I buy a device that decided it was a lemon after 6 months light-moderate use?
Anyone else have this happen? It's never been dropped or anything and I was on stock firmware with nothing but root.
In the UK, If your tablet goes faulty in 12months your guarantee is with the place you bought it from, not Samsung.

It's ALIVE! I thought I'd get a 2nd opinion on my Tab since the guys at the Samsung service center popped it open anyway. Went to a generic phone repair store, all they did was hook it up to this box thing, and it came back to life! The guy said something got corrupted and just re flashed everything to stock rooted. He charged me less than $20 and I have a working Tab again. Obviously the very first thing I did with my resurrected device was to call Samsung's hotline and report how this one service center was trying to scam me into buying a motherboard that cost nearly as much as what I paid for the thing brand new.
Some li-poly battery have an protection circuit built in, if the voltage falls below a certain level say 2.5volts per cell, it disables the battery, if you connect an meter to the battery you will get 0volts , you need an li-ion charger that passes an higher voltage that resets the battery and allows it to work again, I wonder if this is what happened.

@tinderbox could be...must have over-drained itself for some reason.
@ashyx I couldn't really see what he was doing since his work table was obstructed by a bunch of stuff and he had his back towards me, I just saw him grab this small black box, then minutes later he showed me that the tab was already powering on though couldn't get past samsung logo, then he went ahead and flashed to stock.
Reason I ask is I wonder if he used a jtag box to ressurect it by reflashing the bootloader.
If he did there must be jtag points on the board as it can't usually be done via USB.
Pity you didn't ask what he actually did as I'm intrigued now.

yeah i think so... it had similar ports, though not sure about the outer shell of it... i think it was smooth all around with no ridges or anything, just a little black rectangular box.
Sorry to revive an old topic, but i thought i'd do an update instead of start a new one. Tab S died again and I'm now convinced it's over-discharge, as I left it at about 20% and forgot to plug it in before going to bed. Woke up with the tab drained, not responding to any button combinations, not charging with any of my chargers that tested ok with other devices.
Instead of bringing it back to the technician, I thought I'd try mcguyvering the damn thing. I opened up the back, pried the battery terminals up off the board, lifted the battery out, and with a spliced USB cord hooked up to a powerbank, I gave the battery terminals a direct zap, inserting the exposed USB wires into the battery terminals. This took some trial and error as, I didn't know which wire was supposed to go where, but finally I saw the powerbank leds blink, indicating it was discharging into something. I held the wires in place for about 5-10 minutes, noticing some heat on the battery by then. I reinstalled the battery back into the tablet, closed everything up and tried charging again and...hey presto! the tab started charging. :victory: Let it charge for 2 hours and powered on like nothing happened.

Mine just dead last night while CHARGING (turned off at 13%).....
And refused to turn on till now (still charging and both warm (charger + tab)...
I even plugged an ampere meter to really know if its drawing any or not (it is, at 5.2V 1.7A for 15mins)...
And still no luck

This one is the replacement batt they gave me after 2mos of usage for infamous Tab S battery issue...
I saw a video on youtube, a guy had a dead 10.5" T1 he took the back off and connected an 1amp microusb charger pcb to connections directly to the battery under a piece a tape, I bought a couple of the microusb charger pcb`s from ebay for 0.42p each in case mine goes dead.

Samsung tablets only have issue with battery connectors. The white connector with 6 wires has loose connection, the black connector soldered to mainboard has cracked solder joints. New battery won't solve problem if you don't fix these two flaws. Resolder the battery connector will fix most of problems: not charging, reboot, flickering, auto shutdown.

anyway no more somedung, I switched to Xiaomi Mi Mix, still preordering from China.....
You have to watch these chinies owened tablet and phone manufactues, they have been found to come with built in spyware, sending copys of all your texts ect back to china, it`s been in the news that last few day`s
Lenovo notebooks had a spyware app and Lenovo had to issue insturctions on hot to remove it once it was found.

That's OK, I can scan and remove all those spyware.
Still its better to have it properly supported with actual updates (older phone still got all UI + android update, hello MIUI 8).
Rather than using phone without proper software support....
Tab S - buggy and prolly the last MM update
Note 3 - useless LL update, very unstable, consider alpha
Note 8.0 - buggy last KK update, switched to CM13 and happy with it
