Sony Xperia M5 And C5 Ultra Leak - Sony Xperia M5

Looks like the most reliable leak about the upgrade to Zultra with a very very thin bezel.
By the looks of it, it may be available pretty soon as well..
The Sony Xperia C5 Ultra has a huge 6-inch 1080p screen and a virtually non-existent side frame. This is just 0.8mm thin, this compares to a 2.2mm thin side frame in the Xperia C4 and 2.5mm thin frame in the Xperia T2 Ultra. These small bezels mean that that the Xperia C5 Ultra is barely much bigger than the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus.
I dont know much about the processor but sounds disappointing - http://www.mediatek.com/en/products/mobile-communications/smartphone1/mt6752/
( Just opened a new thread since all the other news in the past were just speculations )
The XperiaC5 Ultra will probably get more attention than the M5. It's a big 6-inch phone with a 1080p LCD. The bezel on the left and right of the screen is just 0.8mm wide, which looks neat. Unfortunately, that's the most interesting thing about the design. It's otherwise a very typical Sony device. Inside you get 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, and an octa-core MediaTek MT6752 chipset. It'll cost the equivalent of $350.

See ya Sony... Hello P8Max

I really hope that Sony DOESN'T label the C5 Ultra as a "successor" since it is a downgrade CPU wise while offering the same amount of RAM and storage as the existing model. As a lowend phablet, it is quite decent, though.
The Huawei P8 Max is interesting but the lack of developer support (root, ROM) hold me back. Buying a device with a modified 5.0.2 without any reported updates to 5.1.x and 5.2/M sounds like a bad idea even if it is a nice device in other aspects.
I have not tried the P8 Max but the P8 feels great from a quality standpoint. If Huawei would cooperate with XDA like Sony does, it would be a really great option.
Edit: I hope Sony will introduce a Z5 Tablet Compact with a Snapdragon 820. If they are unwilling to give us a new Ultra, then a Z5 TC would be great.

Hope Z5 Ultra had the same design

They are official now, if only C5 Ultra had better specs...

M5 looks good
I'm liking the M5, looks like it's a Z3+ without the firedragon in it. Probably what the Z3+ should have been.
I've shifted my size wants with regard to phones, went 3.7", 4.3", 4.6", 5.2", 5.5", 5.6", 5.2" and now I want a 5", just like M5
Apart from the Mediatek chip, the M5 ticks all the boxes. And given I don't game on phone the weaker GPU in the X10 isn't a factor. It seems far more efficient than the SD810.
I'd say Sony have canned the Z3+ production and tweaked slightly to make the M5.
I guess this means the Z5 will have an SD820 in it and possibly a 5.5" screen?

Sounds interesting, but disappointed with the M5 processor (mediatek's, right?)

Mediatek ain't a bad chip, I've had a MX4 and I rather liked it.
Sent from a mobile gadget.

I dont it matters as long we have a lag free device.
Dont know if sony will be proactive with bootloader unlock and may be a playstore version

sd810 and perhaps 820 overheating, sd615 has problems too, at this time i think mediatek is safer

I just came from Russia (vacation) and found the M5 Aqua... Why didn't I buy it in Russia where it already got released :/. * waiting for release in Germany *
But sounds great. 2.0 GHz Processor, nice Camera and stuff. But what custom ROMs/kernels possibilities does this phone have?

At most a kernel like Tangerine thats all.
No CustomROM, modded Stock ROMs possible, root possible.
And yea, that's the end, really boring phone cos MediaTek has no opensource for External and Hardware

Maybe the team behind the stock firmware in Sony give us a hand in this case.
They know what are they facing if they changed the processor.
Havent read if its going to have the clean AOSP with sony apps (this would be the best scenario for us)

No unlocked bootloader, no availability in the US and western countries (i.e. no dev)
Why are we still having a dedicated forum on xda??

in a seriousness, this model attrracts me more than than z5 because of the price/performance, but I also like custom rom like cyanogenmod and an active community very much

MTK devices have not really received a proper way to unlock, but there are ways i guess.
M5 is really too expensive and not worth on my carrier, it's selling at $418 SGD on a Combo 2 Student Plan $38 per mo. I could top up $100 more and get a Z series phone so what's the point of getting this phone.
Other carriers offer at $200+ for the device on a $42 per mo plan and Z series cost about $400-$500. Guess i won't be getting M5, no open source code is even more a minus
No MTK Source = no custom ROM.

I think Sony is obligated under the GPL to release the sources?
Anyway, in a month or so the picture will be clear. I strolled across the M4 forums, and there's zero to none original development there. Hope M5 will have a better fate.

MOTOROLA DEFY 2
Our Next Smartphone Is Ready With Super features .but i think so many people do not like screen because the screen very small size is 4.inch
screen then model is not prefect i think
Deviantart user nik255 imagined the way a fresh Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie Motorola phone would look like. The result is an IP67 rated smartphone with a Snapdragon 800 CPU 2.3GHz per core and 3 GB of RAM.The phone features a rectangular format, but there’s something about it that makes me think of the Nexus 7 2 and its recently leaked pictures. The Key Lime Pie UI is also more toned down and minimalistic, a clear inspiration from iOS 7.0. As far as the phone rendered here is concerned, the Motorola Defy 2 is an IP67 handset with a 4 inch HD display and a 3000 mAh replaceable battery. It comes with a micro HDMI port, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, 4G LTE, NFC and a front 3 megapixel camera. There’s a 10 megapixel Clear-Pixel cam at the back with Xenon and LED flash, plus 8/16/32 GB of storage. We’ve also got a microSDXC slot for storage extension
special features
Quad-core 2.3 GHz
New USB 3.0 for ultra-fast transfers
802.11ac1 Wi-Fi for peak Wi-Fi performance + Integrated digital core
BT4.0 + Integrated digital core
New Quick Charge 2.0 integrated for up to 75% faster battery charging
LP-DDR3 memory for high performance and low latency

Yeah, the text is copied, but the thread is misleading... I thought that I missed an announcement about DEFY2 from Motorola when I saw this thread, but it wasn't the case - this is just a fan made concept which means it has nothing to do with reality (and the reality is that DEFY 2 has never been even mentioned by Motorola)
Yup....but I wish someone take this rumor till Motorola and Motorola makes it happen in reality....

If im not mistaken, when the Defy launched it was a mid range device not state of the art latest fastest cutting edge, just a competent android phone that was rugged, and well designed at the same time, as most other rugged phones at that time looked 'rugged'
As it is now things have moved on with devices such as the xperia Z, however the defy is still the only device that has these characteristics
Water resistant
replaceable battery
SD card slot
UK release.
Really cool concept Motorola really started this project long back but suddenly dropped making Defy Series.... if nt we should have been using Defy™HD with Jellybean.. Btw New Motorola phones build quality better than defy

It is a beautiful mock up! And well as far as my defy is concerned the build quality is brilliant, it's the stock software quality which pissess me off. It's just sad that a phone which is still up and kicking, going all guns blazing was left to wither away by the software dept at Google moto.
Any way, um ot!! What are your opinions about the moto x? Looks promising me thinks!!!!

The X is a great thing, but the Ultra series is a lot more interesting to me... I'm a fan of Motorola design and the new Ultra series devices are great representatives of that spirit The X, on the other hand, has a less interesting appearance to me, it's built for the masses, I guess...
Other than that, the hardware is very similar, so not much to say there

Moto X??
fro what i have heard....
Not rugged ( pictures show fully exposed headphone jack hole )
No Sd card, built in memory only (16GB/32GB)
Sealed in battery, having a spare battery is essential for my purposes as im often away from power and the battery often dies at the worst moment - nothing can beat putting a fresh battery in and being back to 100% in a few minutes
also heard on the rumour mill - only getting a USA/North American release initially due to the customisation options, with china set to follow later. ( ie USA/Canada/China)

[Q] Xperia M. Worth Buying Now?

Is the Xperia M worth buying now
or should i wait for new phones to launch?
If i so,then which colour to opt for?
You can buy the Moto G instead. I have heard good reviews about it, Its spec-wise better and cheaper compared to the Xperia M.
No!

Moto G is expensive.. It costs 14k for the 16Gb
and the 8Gb for 12.5k
whereas the Xperia M costs 11k
I just bought the Xperia M SS this Monday and was it got delivered yesterday. It's Rs 3,000/- cheaper than the Moto G and best VFM imo, Screen resolution could have been a lil better, but I'm yet to try KitKat on this cell. Maybe it will look better. If you're tight on budget go with this, or Moto E.
all currencies in INR
Moto G is getting an updated version that'll start selling this month (at least in Brazil) which is exactly the same specs of current released model plus microSD support and 4G. Even if it's a little more expensive than Xperia M, the upgraded specs really worth the extra cost, an equivalent phone with similar specs here cost almost twice the price of Moto G...
(in fact, I bought Xperia M dual at release here, one week after Moto G 8GB launched here at the same price but with way better hardware specs, I felt cheated )
i use both Xperia m dual and moto g(friend)....
trust me guys our m is really fast and smooth as compare to moto g... and looks wise also it beat moto g... n definitely Xperia m is so light in weight...
before i ws also thinking that i should have waited for moto g.... before buying Xperia m... but now... im fully satisfied
Specs of the moto G are indeed better than the Xperia M but the performance in reality is actually not as good as the XM cause look around on the web every review says the same thing the moto G is good but there is one problem with that phone the battery is draining fast and when battery is low the cpu does not give the performance as it should we don't have that porblem with XM that's why the XM performs better in reality
So İ think we should be statisfied with our XM
Sent from my C1905 using XDA Free mobile app
Its still worth it bro, for my price range XM is perfect, good hardwares and sensors, also its stock fw is awesome

If you are convinced on buying the phone I'd suggest the one with colored back like purple, even yellow goes well. You can match the color with a theme and the phone will look really good.
And yeah should i stick to the stock 4.1.2 ?
So should i stick to the 4.1.2 version
because i've heard unstability of the version 4.3
so, i guess its better that i just wait till sony updates a stable version
and yeah even i can do many tweaks with the old firmware right??

The long awaited Elephone P3000 is now around the corner. Below here you can read the announcement from Elephone. I may get this and post a Unboxing and Review later when I got it. What do you think about it?
•The JDI screen displays sharp and high quality pictures. Meanwhile, power consumption of the screen decreased. There is still power left after heavy use for one day, that has solved the power consumption problem that exists on Android 4.4.2 phones. The camera performs outstanding, and there are lots of options in the menu to fit the different shooting environment. The accuracy of the color reduction reaches 90%. It performs excellent in low light condition.
•Furthermore, the combination of MTK 6592 and 6290 works great for 4G LTE. MTK 6592 is a mature developed Soc that has stable performance regarding running complex functions such as games and multi tasks.
Elephone released the Elephone P3000 in two versions. The P3000 and the P3000S. The Elephone P3000 is the lesser equipped one of the two. The Elephone P3000 comes with a Mediatek MT6582 1.3GHz Quad-core processor and 1GB of RAM memory. The Elephone P3000S comes with a faster Mediatek MT6592 1.7GHz Octa-core processor and 2GB of RAM. Both of the phones have a 720p OGS IPS screen that promises good viewing angles and color reproduction.
Main Features:
Elephone P3000s 5.0 Inch
RAM: 2GB / ROM: 16GB
Android 4.4 KitKat
MTK6592 Octa Core, 1.7GHz / Mali-450MP
Radio/Modem: MT6290
Support micro SD (T-Flash) 128G
NFC Built-in
SIM+micro SIM card, dual standby
Support Gravity/Light/Proximity Sensing System
FM/MP3/MP4/Bluetooth/GPS Function Supported
Note: This phone will only work with GSM+WCDMA+FDD-LTE
Networks: GSM 850/900/1800/1900MHz WCDMA 850/900/1900/2100MHz FDD-LTE 800/1800/2100/2600MHz
Cons/Minus:
The camera flash is not 100% synchronized with the shutter.
Compass sensor gives erratic output
What should I say....
A MTK6592 quad core combined with a 3150 mAh battery, 4G network , 2GB RAM 16GB ROM, and pretty almost full frequency
Guess that should last forever ...
It seems to be a very good device.....
I've pre ordered, it looks a good phone
Interesting ! I may (pre)order it for a friend.

What malfunctions? everything works fine on the phone - you should know if you check the review. Only I must say that the Fingerprint scanner is just a gimmick for me. I don't really use it. And if your fingers are a little sweaty you sometimes have to do it twice before it can scan the finger correct, but it's not a big deal. Things like, WiFi, reception, speed, RAM, GPS, display, 3D games etc. works perfect for me on this device.

I am cautious to buy this device because some elephone devices in the past appeared problems. It's a very low cost devise for these specifications so I am afraid of low manufacture quality.
How would you characterize the external material and the quality of the device?
Do you advise me to risk and buy it?

Well, I already told my opinion in my video review. If you should buy it or not is up to yourself. Everything works fine for me on this phone. Previous Elephone models had problems with the battery draining too fast, or that you had to tap 2 times sometimes before it would react, on the P3000S the touchscreen seems to be better and the battery is also really good.

ZUK Z1 Review By elchiringuitochino.es:

Some ZUK Z1 Real Photos :
Think a couple of the specs in your post below need correcting, it supposedly has the Snapdragon 801 processor and a 64GB ROM
WIll be keeping an eye out for this, not sure if it will make it to Europe/UK or not. I've currently got a Oneplus One and spec wise this phone is almost identical apart from the bigger battery, nicer build materials/quality, fingerprint scanner, OIS on the rear camera OIS, 8MP front camera, USB Type C, dual SIM.
It has been said that elephone should have already received a first batch of ZUK Z1. This means automatically that it can not wait long in coming, until we have the goods available.
Once we have the product you can look forward to a first review in different languages before there are more reviews by external reviewers.
*
So stay tuned.

Ok thanks didnt know that. Looking forward to seeing more of this phone, it could be a great device with the hardware announced. I know its not the cutting edge of specs but it should still be a solid device.
This smartphone is so cool. Specs are also great.

Looks like ZUK are ramping up with another (Snapdragon 820) device rumoured for January launch.

Yes, it seems so
Let's hope that also the software will be good as well. I'll let you know when I receive it.
Looking forward to seeing any reviews on this phone. From what I understand, Ulefone seems to be on par with Xiaomi in customer satisfaction.
Ihave a couple of questions to get the discussion started:
Can we expect CM13 getting support for Ulefone Future?
What are Ulefone's stance on unlocking the bootloader, will it break the warranty?
Will this phone come with Google apps or will it be lacking those, just like other chinese models?

I'll probably work on CM and other ROMs for both Ulefone Vienna & Ulefone Future.
About warranty, I'll let you know.
Google Apps are already included.

I currently have an Xperia Z3 for past 18 months. Upgrade with my current provider is costing me €250 to get a Z5.....So I'm keeping an eye out for decent Chinese android phones. This looks interesting and seems to have better specs than the Z3 and Z5,apart from camera. Would this Ulefone Future be a decent upgrade from my Z3?

The Snapdragon 810 can't be compared with the Helio P10.
I would choose the Xperia Z5

It probably means that GearBest doesn't have anymore units with the gift package. Every shop works in a different way, take a look at other shops.
This video by Ulefone seems pretty promising.
I just hope that its software will be better optimized because on the Vienna it isn't...
Recharge and Drainage Test
Ulefone Future has a 3000mAh battery, enough to get a thick flagship device. The 9V/2~3A fast charger that will come in the package is said to fill up the battery in 1 hour, so this can be considered as a compensation to the low battery capacity.
In a latest battery test, Ulefone staff managed to charge the Ulefone Future from 21% to 76% in half an hour with the phone turned on, indicating that a singe charge takes less than 1 hour. Online HD video playback for 30 minutes drained the battery from 100% to 91%. If this reflects real-life conditions, a one-day of normal usage should be covered without issues.
In addition, the Ulefone Future will share the same Pump Express Plus charger that the Ulefone Power has. Also, Ulefone claims that the Future Sony li-polymer battery inside. It seems promising for now.
Ulefone's Blog article: http://blog.ulefone.com/ulefone-fut...test-battery-life-is-not-to-be-worried-about/
Ulefone has just announced on their official blog today that they will begin to ship the Ulefone Future from May 25, after the pre-sale period.
They have already been producing the bezel-less device but they still need 2 weeks to fulfill all the preorders, probably too much than expected, so that all is ready for the 25th of May.
This is the most expensive device that Ulefone has ever made, but the company promise that it will also be the best phone under $300 because this device has some flagship characteristics that other device offered at the same price don't have. Of course we aren't not talking about the CPU (that can't be considered super-performant), but the bezel-less display and other specs.
