Im just wondering, if i unlock my S4 m919 can it work with Verizon? Im confused with all these bands and CDMA/CSM stuff
It's for a friend who has an iphone 4 with Verizon (no sim) but I heard Verison can give you a sim for lte.

No, it won't work

Unlocked Nexus

If i buy a Verizon Galaxy Nexus, and unlock the bootloader.. Would it be able to work with a T-Mobile sim?

i dont think it will sorry, but then again iam not to sure. i think sim unlocking and bootloader unlocking are two differant things. it dosent cost much to get a phone sim unlocked though and if you do some google searching you might be able to unlock it yourself.
i just read on google that you cant unlock verizon or sprint.
The verizon nexus only has cdma & LTE bands, so no, the only other possibilities are Sprint and other cdma carriers.

Boot loader != sim unlock
CDMA / LTE != GSM
Verizon phones not marketed as 'GLOBAL' will NOT work on GSM carriers. Unlocking a CDMA phone is hard and if done can only be used on CDMA networks (sprint or Verizon in US) and even then you need to provision the phone for the new network and CDMA network operators do not like to allow other phones on their network since you did not buy the phone from that carrier.
TL;DR:
Verizon only works on Verizon

You can get a GSM Galaxy Nexus, unlock and work with T-Mobile.
I have the Nexus and am on T-Mobile.

yes a global verizon phone will but it is sim locked.
First of all non of the galaxy nexus phones are locked. The T Mobile version works with the Att version and so on. The Verizon version will never work on the other networks because cdma is not compatible with GSM period

Verizon galaxy nexus only works on Verizon. It has a sim slot but it's designed strictly for LTE.
It will not work with tmobile or att

This is actually wrong, some of the phones being sold in Europe are actually sim-locked. There is a thread under the general section discussing someone trying to sim-unlock their phone.

[Q] Tmobile or unlocked version? Which one?

I will most likely use this phone on Simple Mobile which uses tmobiles towers so the obvious choice would be the tmobile version, but would i benefit in any way by getting the unlocked version? Who is the unlocked version branded by? I dont want to make a mistake because a month ago i was about to get the unlocked iphone for my girl and run it on simple mobile until thankfully you guys tipped me off that the unlocked iphone was actually an at&t branded phone and will not get 4g speeds on simple mobile.
So, who is the unlocked version of the gs3 branded by? And which one should i get, tmobile gs3 or unlocked gs3?
International Sgs3 is branded by Samsung. I believe you would not get 4g, because of the different frequencies. The other option would be the Korean version of the sgs3. I do not know if that works though.
T-mobile is gonna be updating their 1900mhz which means the international s3 will get 3g data and iPhone users same...

Well in this case what is different between the tmobile version and the unlocked version. Im not understanding, sorry. If I get the tmobile version, would i be able to use it the same way the unlocked version can be used?

ATT Note 2 work on Straight Talk ?

Was at Worst Buy today, they said would price match any online price for the Note 2, plus offer me free insurance if broken, or any issues.
I was gonna get the true international Note 2, but worried if it has issued or warranty problems, it would be much easier to just go back to Best Buy than to have to mail it off, out of the country.
So, that being said, I am on Straight Talk, I hate being raped by the carriers and handcuffed into outdated contract system. Would the ATT Note 2 work on my Straight Talk SIM ? Or does the phone need to be unlocked first ?
I never unlocked a phone before. But I always root and install custom ROM the first day I take phone out of the box. Does rooting a phone, automatically unlock it too ?
And how bout HSPA+ ? Straight Talk doesn't do LTE yet, just HSPA+ I know the ATT Note 2 is LTE, but does it also have HSPA+ too, or just slower 3G ?

You would have to unlock it, either buy scrounging a code or going to the carrier and asking for one. Rooting doesn't automatically unlock the device. As far as 4G I really dunno, but I'm sure someone will tell you.

I believe you only need to buy the att version of the straight talk sim. No need to unlock. Then you go on their web site and get the APN.

Thanks, so I am currently using the ATT SIM on Straight Talk. Just pop that in the new Note 2, and it will work right out of the box ?
What about HSPA+ ? Straight Talk doesn't have LTE. Does the ATT Note 2 have HSPA+ 3G besides LTE ?

It is not the sim from att. Its a straight talk sim made for att phones. You have to order them online. It uses att network and you would get everything except lte.
https://www.straighttalk.com/ShopSims is where you order the sim and there is more info on the service on the site.

On my international One X, I am using Straight Talk with the ATT SIM. In the Straight Talk package, there were three sims to choose from. T-Mobile, and two ATT, one regular size, and one micro/mini, which is what I am currently using.
So can I just take this mini ATT SIM from Straight Talk, and pop it in the ATT Note 2 from Best Buy, and it will work ? I don't need to have the phone unlocked ?
Thank you

Its already been answered and yes ITS BEEN A LONG time since ive even seen a UMTS on my phone. and also HSPA+ is still 3G.... Straight talk Uses Edge,3G, and 3.5G which is HSPA+
Also if the Note 2 only used LTE then people would not be buying it cause not all AT&T areas are LTE...
I am more than happy with 3.5G HSPA+, plenty fast for my phone needs, I just wasn't sure it was included in the Note 2, for some reason I thought was just standard 3G only and also LTE.
Most the time I am in a WiFi area anyways, at Home or Work Office, so LTE not a deal breaker for me.
Thank you

Good point, thanks for the answer.
Last question, since I am using the ATT Sim for Straight Talk, is there even any point to have the ATT Note 2 unlocked ?

[Q] help !! please att data not working on t-mobile 999

ok is there a rom that work right out the box for some sort of data with my prepaid at&t sim card i can make calls get mms, but cant get data i really need some sort of data working today i am rooted, unlocked and have no idea if i should be useing some sort of at&t kernal, or just changeing the apn, which has not worked yet?
can some one please direct me to the right thread or something
So you have a Tmobile T999 with an ATT prepaid sim?
I don't remember for sure so hopefully someone else can confirm, but I don't think the T999 can get better than 3g on ATTs network.
But if you're using the ATT sim, you'll be on their network so you may need to either unlock the phone and/or put in the correct ATT apn.
Sent from my SGH-T999L using xda premium
It will use HSPA on At&t no problem. Sounds like an APN issue. Your best bet is to go to the At&t forum and flash an At&t rom. Just make sure not to flash an At&t radio. Data should work out of the box on an At&t build.

I think it will use HSPA+ but only difference is that att hspa+ is not 42mg like on tmobile. I was getting around 7mg with my friends att sim on my t999.

This is correct. at&t uses the older HSDPA 7/14 and HSPA 21 depending on where you are located. They opted to go to LTE instead of a dual carrier configuration for their HSPA+
What service do you have with the prepaid att service? Did you have to get a new sim card? I looked everywhere on here, but didn't see anything

[Q] Using T-Mobile Note 3 N900T on Sprint?

I just SIM unlocked my T-Mobile Note 3. I have the opportunity to join a framily plan at $45 for unlimited data and want to test it out and see how coverage compares. Currently I'm on N900TUVUFOB6 running the Tweaked N3 3.95 ROM. Do I need to switch the baseband, or ROM, or do anything else special to get it to work? Or can I just pop a Sprint microSIM in and be good to go? I tried searching N900T Sprint but really didn't come across anything.
I'm guessing cause one (T-Mobile Is GSM) Sprint CDMA
sent from a Galaxy Note 3 Far far away
It's not going to work. The bands are completely different in GSM and CDMA.
