[Fix added] [HOW TO] [UPDATED] Install Android apps on Windows 10 Mobile - Windows 10 Mobile

Before you start, keep in mind that this may damage your device. I wouldn’t recommend trying this, but if you really want to, you can feel free to do so at your own risk.
Here is the list of supported devices:
•Nokia Lumia 920
•Nokia Lumia 925
•Nokia Lumia 929 (icon)
•Nokia Lumia 830
•Nokia Lumia 930
•Nokia Lumia 1520
•Nokia Lumia 635 (1GB RAM variant)
•Nokia Lumia 730
•Nokia Lumia 820
•Nokia Lumia 435
•Nokia Lumia 928
A. If you have one of the above devices, you are ready to go!Method 1(older, harder, but still functional)
1. Download both files from here.
2. Unzip both of the files on the folder
3. Open the folder wconnect, then install IpOverUsbInstaller.msi and vcredist_x86.exe
4. Go to your Windows 10 Mobile’s Settings page, then head over to Update & Security > For Developers and enable Developers Mode, as well as Device Discovery
5. Now go to the extracted wconnect folder, then open an elevated command prompt (Shift+right click > Open command window here)
6. After that, you’ll need to connect to the phone — and there’s two way of doing that (USB method is recommended): ◦If you want to connect using USB, type "wconnect.exe usb" and hit enter
6.1 And if you want to connect over Wi-Fi, type wconnect.exe 192.168.xxx.xxx (replace the xxx with your network’s IP)
7. Then it’ll ask for the pairing code, just type the pairing code and hit enter
8. After that, navigate to the extracted adb folder and open an elevated command prompt
9. To make sure that your device is connected, type adb devices and hit enter to show the list of devices that are connected
10. Lastly, place the APK file that you want to install on the same directory (adb folder) and type in adb install APKNAME.apk (replace APKNAME with the APK file’s name)
11. Just wait for it to do its thing and you should be able to install the Android app on your Windows 10 device
Method 2 (new, noob-proof)
1. Download the files here and extract them anywhere
2. Install "IpOverUsbInstaller" and "vcredist_x86"
2. Run "APKDeployment.exe"
3. On your phone go to "Settings/Update & Security/For developers" and enable "Developer mode" and "Device discovery" then press "Pair"
4. Connect your phone to USB, insert the code you got earlier from your phone, into APKDeployment app, then press pair. Your phone should appear as "emulator_555x on USB"
5. Now that you're paired, you can simply drag .apk's into the application then choose to deploy all.
Method 3 (even simpler)
1. Download the package from here and install it.
2. Follow app instructions.
Method 4
Install APKtoWin10m
Download Windows Bridge
On your pc go to "C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\APKTOW10M\connect" then extract the "Windows bridge" contents there. When asked, replace all files.
That's it, the tool should be fixed.
Credits go to @alb3530.
B. VERY IMPORTANT!
1. Do not disconnect the device while an apk is installing.
2. Do not reboot while your phone has Developer Mode Activated.
C. Errors you might encounter and how to fix them.
1. Status 9 - connection problem
If this happens, unregister you device using "Windows Phone Developper Registration 8.1", tool provided alongside Windows Phone 8.1 SDK, or download the lite version from here.Afterwards you will be able to access Developer settings again. Or Hard reset, your choice.
If the method above did not help, another fix is to go to device manager and uninstall these drivers [(coresponding to your device) also delete them if asked] then refresh, and let Windows reinstall them.

"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
2. Status 14 - device not supported
Either your device is unsupported or you haven't installed "Developer Enhacements" update
To install Developer enhacements update, install Windows Insider from Store and Enroll, then check phone updates. It should show up there.
3. Developer menu crashes, wconnect app hangs
If this happens, unregister you device using "Windows Phone Developper Registration 8.1", tool provided alongside Windows Phone 8.1 SDK, or download the lite version from here.Afterwards you will be able to access Developer settings again. Or Hard reset, your choice.
4. Notification toggles flashing
Just reboot, but remember to disable Developer Mode first.

Here's a list from someone on r/windowsphone on reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/windowspho...all_android_apps_on_windows_10_mobile/ctvvtwj
eric5949:
Just installed Twitter and the Destiny Companion App, they work great, though i would turn off the 3D model in the Destiny app, it made it crash. Clearly project Astoria isn't finished, but damn if it doesn't work good.
Edit: Here's what I've tried.
Facebook: Crash
Messenger: Works, No notifications outside of app, no calling
Snapchat: New versions throw an error when you try to log in, old versions say to update
Destiny Companion App: Works, guardian 3D model may cause app to crash, turn it off in settings.
Amazon App with Store: Works, laggy though. Trying to install an app crashes the app.
Twitter: Works.
Google Play Services: Had to try...for science. Either fails to install or crashes.
Firefox: Crash on launch
Steam: Works
Wikia Game Guides: Works, though crashes sometimes, and some images fail to load
Hearthstone: Crashes with "Failed to download additional files from google play"
Clash of Clans: Works so far, haven't tried IAP because...im not spending money on that game...
Puzzle and Dragons: Not sure what i was expecting here, its hooked pretty hard into Google Play services. Crashed on launch.
TeamSpeak: Crash.
Teamviewer: App works, but it fails to connect to the internet.
Reddit is Fun: App itself works, crashes when logging in with message "not implemented yet"
Waze: Can't get location, forever initializing.
I will update with more as i try them.

Standalone WP7 Emulator x86-x64, 1 click installer and shortcuts

Good afternoon,
I see a few people want the 64bit version of the emulator so here it is re packaged into an installer with shorcuts on start menu and desktop for your convenience.
I have also made a 32bit installer to go along with it.
Both the file sets are pulled from the very latest developer suite.
The msi file is 76meg and has the image pre loaded into it.
Just double click to install once installed click the Shortcut on your desktop or start menu.

strange! It should be a double click, once you typed that command did you get the gui installer?
Installing using not command promt gives an error, nothing will be copied/extracted/installed.

Do you get the same issues if you right click it and run as administrator?
That option isn't available, I think this is because it is a .msi installer. When reaching the last screen of the installer the button to start the progress has the shield that requires an admin typing his pass, so I gave the pass, but after a while the error shows up:

I get the same error except I never get prompted for an admin password- it just starts 'copying files' and then flashes to that scren.
Try copying a couple of the smaller size microsoft items from my list, I am on server 2008 r2 on this machine and it works fine...
here's what mine looks like.
I have just installed it with no issues with the below installed programs/ ms addons, have you tried changing the installation directory, do you have administrator rights on the machine?
I also have the same error as previously posted.
I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. I will try playing around with my currently installed MS Visual Studio etc (I have MS Visual Studio 2010 installed).

The only thing I can think of is some issue with admin rights, only a few out of the many many downloads of the x64 verison have had issues.
Turn User Account Control off (UAC) and install. I tried on win7 home p. and works well

I tried many different methods to get the x86 installer working on Windows 7 Professional x86 and nothing worked except that specific method:
Run msiexec /i setupx86.msi from an Admin Command Prompt.
I tried all the methods mentioned, even extracted the .msi contents and still nothing worked, but that Admin Command Prompt and that one command got it working. Not sure what the issue actually is, and I ever tried disabling UAC and then executing it from the Admin Command Prompt and still no go - only that specific method worked in my situation.

It doesn't work at all for me, even after following this command.
I do get the installer window, and click next a few times, get the status bars and click finish.
However, there are no shortcuts on my desktop or in my start menu, and it hasn't copied any files.
I tried using the default install directory and D:\Software\WP7Emu\ but neither worked.
I am on Win 7 Prof x64, and downloaded the x64 version from megaupload
I've found the solution of this problem, try to go to compatibility assistant of Windows 7 and launch the program, after that the installation work perfectly
Very good!

Flashtool drivers fail[Windows 8, 64bit)

Hi!
I have just installed Windows 8 64bit on my PC. Now I want to use flashtool (flashtool-0.9.7.0-windows).
However, it's telling me that I need some drivers before I can flash my phone (xperia play r800i). I tried using this method:
sewer56lol said:
You have to disable driver signature checks as windows won't allow them, if you know how then upon boot go to troubleshoot settings (If you do not dual boot then you are forced to pull in your installation CD and go to Repair Computer section)
Then you go to advanced settings and after you hit boot in Safe Mode, reboot and then install the drivers and after that you need to reboot again to go to normal mode.
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
However, I think that I'm failing miserably. I get this error (while installing the drivers in failsafe mode):
DPInst.exe does not execute on your current Operating System.
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
The drivers I am installing is:
"Sony Ericsson Xperia arc, Xperia Neo, Xperia PLAY, Xperia acro IS11S, Xperia acro SO-02C drivers"
(From a list inside the program "C:\Flashtool\drivers\Flashtool-drivers.exe")
I also tried to do something listed on MSDN:
Thanks Marilyn and Hadron for your responses. It turns out I finally came across the solution I was looking for shortly after posting this. Here's what I did:
Open a command prompt as an admin and type:
bcdedit -set loadoptions DISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS (hit Enter)
bcdedit -set TESTSIGNING ON (hit Enter)
I might have rebooted after that. That put the machine in test mode, like I was going for, and allowed me to install the unverified test driver.

From: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/windowsdeveloperpreviewgeneral/thread/941a4bf5-84d3-4bc3-88c6-96f30b787a3c/
But that failed too. Didn't really give me anything but the same error.
I am using Flashtool 64, since I'm on a 64 bit computer.
ANY HELP APPRECIATED!

When I try to execute the drivers in normal mode (ie. not fail safe) I get this:
" Driver name / status
[ ✓ ] Sony Ericsson (WinUsb) sa0102AdbDeviceClass (12/10/2010 2.0.0010.20010) / Ready to use
[ X ] Sony Ericsson Net (11/18/2010 6.0.6000.16388) / Install failed"
Did you check the flash box & fastboot box when choosing the drivers to install. They are at the bottom of the drivers selection.

As you can see, it fails to install the drivers.
I have a windows 7 laptop, but its just so slow to work with compared to my desktop w/ w8. The laptop basically have 512 mb ram & 1.66 ghz cpu.
Hope someone can help me fix this issue.
Have you unlocked your bootloader?

What you tested was the beta. The other guy has the final product of windows 8 which is a different kind of beat.
New Info: In order to install applicatons on your windows 8 machine the applocation must have the approval from microsoft. Ouch..... Im stickin with windows 7 then maybe for good if Microsoft is going this route.
are the drivers just not installing altogether or do you get a can't start error?

totally agree with you chery2k just stick to win7 untill oxide& crew have a fix btw I think win8 is S***
also which version of flashtool did u guys try as 0.9.0.0 was released recently and new update coming soon(or may be out).
try this
bcdedit -set loadoptions DISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
bcdedit -set TESTSIGNING ON
reboot
download drivers (test signed a few)
try to run dpinst64 (if that fails)
manually install them
report back
also smartscreen can be turned off during install of windows 8
me too..
I do not think windows 8 it self the problem. I tested flashing with flashtool 0.9.9.0 in a windows 8 VM, the driver appear to be installed and it attempted to flash, but the phone would disconnect before it could flash. I think the reason for that is the VM.
On my VM i have smartscreen and UAC turned off
the drivers i used are in my previous post
I can confirm drivers are not working anymore on Windows 8....:crying:
to continue with my last post I think the reason people are having problems is USER ERROR and not they are not willing to try and fix it them self.
i installed flash tool and the drivers on windows 8 32 bit without any problem or errors or pop up security screens the only screen i got was the driver not verified by windows crap and just installed it anyway and worked fine...if u just want to flash your phone just install the flashmode and fastboot drivers dont worry about the xperia play driver...and dont forget to disable your antivirus

I had a similar problem the other day while working on getting my r800at's fastboot to be identified in Flashtool. I did the same as you, regarding trying to install the Xperia Drivers from the flashtool app itself, but it didn't work.
What I did to successfully install drivers was use SuperOneClick. There should be an option in the Advanced Tab to "Check Drivers", and since it won't find any, it'll ask if you want it to forcibly install the drivers. Allow it to, and it should immediately have working drivers. This worked on a Windows 7 64-bit OS, I'm unsure of how it'll pan out with W8, but good luck.
I'm running win8 too, in the flashtool folder in the C: drive, there should be a drivers folder, just run the installer that's in there. make sure the android SDK is installed first. Did you install android SDK?

It's the tool from this post. If I'm not getting this error, it'll be "Windows Explorer not working" error, there by crashing the tool itself. May be I try another system.

Hi,
I'm having the exact same issue. I tried it with win8pro and xpPro(both x86) and got the same behaviour at every try:
After the update starts it took some havy load on CPU and HDD transfer for a few seconds while a cab file appears in the working directory. After that the CPU/HDD load reduces to 0 and the cab file disappears again. About half a minute later the "application not responding" error pops out.
I'm pretty frustrated right now. Can anyony help?

Make sure you followed step 4. Its very important. Set the uptestex and windowsenabler properties to "windows xp compatibility" and "run as administrator". Install lg drivers and msxml parser. I think reboot would be nice.
I didnt get any errors trying this guide on windows xp home, 7, and windows 8 pro (all 32bit). Try disabling your antivirus for a while.

[GUIDE] Delete "Temporary files and Preview Build Updates" that are stuck

EDIT: I'm going to assume this method would also allow you to cancel an update/prevent installation of an unwanted build. I have not tested this, however I can't imagine why it wouldn't work, so long as you have not started the installation.
If you're like me and cant update your device any longer because the Temporary Files are filling up your device memory, then follow this guide and hopefully you'll be downloading the latest update in no time.
Problem: Windows Update downloads a preview build but never installs it, then begins downloading the next, and the next, until eventually it has eaten up all of your phone memory. I'm not sure if this is a bug that occurs on specific builds, devices, or under odd circumstances. Regardless of how and why it happens, its EXTREMELY inconvenient and prevents you from updating your device any further. It would seem that the only solution is to Hard Reset your device, but I was not content with doing this, so I dug deep and found a solution.
Cure: Manually delete the temporary files using a PC, Windows Explorer, and a third party app called Unlocker.
LINK for Unlocker: http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/unlocker.html (I'm not sure how much this really helped as I never seen any direct interaction between the program and the files being deleted, however I was unsuccessful in deleting the files previously WITHOUT it, so I assume it is necessary.) During installation, choose Advanced and uncheck the Toolbar installation if you don't want that installed.
After searching through the phone's system files, I managed to find where the temporary files are stored, and eventually i was able to delete them.
Pre-Requisites: A PC, Full FileSystem Access on your device, and Unlocker (deletes files Windows says are undeleteable).
1. After installing Unlocker, go to your Start Menu and run the Unlocker Assistant. Then start Unlocker, navigate to the following directory in the window that appears: This PC\Windows phone\Phone\Data - Click OK and the box closes.
2. Navigate to the following directory in Windows Explorer:
This PC\Windows phone\Phone\Data\PROGRAMDATA\SOFTWAREDISTRIBUTION\Download
Note: Be patient while this directory loads; there's over 1000 folders within it.
3. Highlight the folders all at once or in groups. I chose to do it in groups for performance reasons.
4. After Highlighting the folders, PRESS the DELETE button on your keyboard. I say press DELETE because right-clicking them and bringing up the context menu could cause Windows Explorer to hang for a long time. I found simply pressing the DELETE button instantly brings up the confirmation window without any performance problems.
5. After all folders have been deleted, disconnect your device and go back to your Storage app to check that the Temporary Files says 0bytes.
6. Go to Updates and click Retry. Your phone should now look for and begin downloading the latest build available to you depending on the ring you've selected.
7. Congratulations! You're Done!

[Guide] How to flash the Open Market FFU for the IDOL4s Open Market 6071W

As we currently know it the open market FFU for the IDOL 4s will not flash properly to the open market model IDOL 4s phone. The below steps and attached files will allow this to change.
I was thankfully able to find this information due to a member over at 4pda who put together steps using the full engineering tool (link). They shared the link here to that post. Since I cannot attach the full files of that tool here due to size restrictions, I came up with an alternate method to share on this site and attach the needed files to flash.
This is a an alternate method to flash your open market IDOL 4s with the Open market FFU. You do this at your own risk. I personally feel it is relatively safe to use this method since we are in EDL (Emergency Download) mode anyway, yet even though I have done this now 4 or 5 times flashing an ffu to the IDOL 4s there is still a risk that something could go wrong. So I/we are not responsible if you kill your phone. The following directions assume you are running Windows 10 Creators update on the PC you are flashing from. If you need assistance downloading or installing the Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 drivers you will need to look on the internet or search XDA forums. There are plenty of resources on that. The good thing is that when I tested it from my tablet for the first time the device showed up in device manager as QHUSB_BULK. I simply right clicked it in device manager and updated the driver to get the correct USB driver installed. It flashed fine after that. With that out of the way I can share the information to flash the open market ffu.
Make sure you charge your phone prior. To be safe 100%. This can be done at the minimum 40% charge or maybe 20% but that could be pushing it depending on the health of your battery.
--Obtain the open market ffu file
Download the open market firmware ffu from WDRT by opening the tool and selecting the open market IDOL 4s and advancing the steps/windows until it finishes downloading. Click cancel once done and close WDRT. By default it should download to C:\ProgramData\Alcatel\Packages\Products\6071W\RTM_IDOL_4S_Open_F1052.16.09031.50700_1052.16.09031.50700.FFU
--Download the attached Idol4S.zip
Download the attached zip file
In the attached zip file you will find the following:
Idol4S_PRO_WIN_NPRG7627.bin
rawprogram_6071w_OM.xml
emmcdl.exe
You only need to use the emmcdl.exe file and the bin file. Don't worry about the xml file for now.
--Setup the files for flashing
Extract them to their own folder. So for the sake of argument we have them here: C:\Idol4S\
There will be 3 files in the Idol4s folder. Next move the FFU file you downloaded previously to this folder for simplicity.
Now you will see 4 files there under C:\Idol4S\:
RTM_IDOL_4S_Open_F1052.16.09031.50700_1052.16.09031.50700.FFU
Idol4S_PRO_WIN_NPRG7627.bin
rawprogram_6071w_OM.xml
emmcdl.exe
--Reboot your IDOL 4s into Emergency download mode.
Turn off your Idol 4s windows phone. Once powered down push and hold the volume Down Key in and keep it held in.
Next plug in the phone to the USB C cable connected to your PC.
It will vibrate but continue to hold the Down volume key for a second or two. You should see device manager recognize the phone as something like QHUSB_BULK or Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008.
If it shows up as QHUSB_BULK or something else you need to install the correct drivers in order for it to appear as QDloader 9008.
Once it shows as QDloader 9008 like the pic below. Write down the port number it shows up under...in my case COM3
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
--Flash the phone
Once in EDL mode open the folder where your 4 files for flashing are stored. Then either open a powershell prompt or command prompt Click File > Open Windows PowerShell or click File > Open Command prompt.
Begin to run the below commands:
from Windows PS --
Code:
.\emmcdl.exe -p com3 -f C:\Idol4S\Idol4S_PRO_WIN_NPRG7627.bin -ffu C:\Idol4S\RTM_IDOL_4S_Open_F1052.16.09031.50700_1052.16.09031.50700.FFU
from cmd --
Code:
emmcdl.exe -p com3 -f C:\Idol4S\Idol4S_PRO_WIN_NPRG7627.bin -ffu C:\Idol4S\RTM_IDOL_4S_Open_F1052.16.09031.50700_1052.16.09031.50700.FFU
The flashing takes a bit of time. You will see lots of output scrolling. Just leave the device and the screen alone for a bit until it finishes. Once it's finished the phone will reboot automatically.
If it stalls at he beginning or fails. Reboot your phone and put it into EDL mode again. Or reattach the usb cable and put into EDL mode again. Retry the command.
Again, to repeat, if you choose to do any of this it is at the risk to your own device. Thanks.

I believe so. Tried ffutool.exe too.
Great tutorial Nate!
Easy to follow and working without a glitch.
Just a remark for those who might think that this could sim-unlock their 6071W - IT DOES NOT!
While it will load the Open market FFU the model reported is still 6071W, still locked to TMO and WDRT will still not recognise it to load Open market sw.

If I plug the phone in while it is powered off, and push only both volume rocker buttons in at the same time it will go into edl mode every time. I dont think I tried both the power and volume down keys though. If that works too, then good.

Thanks for double checking this. I updated the post with that small detail .
Folks, here is the tool that helped me acquire the loader file for this phone. The tool packages are greater than 30MB so I had to share a link for them. Someone might find this useful. It was originally hosted on the 4pda forums, so the credit goes to those guys over there for making this tool available. The tool can also reflash the OpenMarket Idol4s. It basically works by building a compressed exe file from the FFU based on the model you chose (Idol4Pro). You launch that newly made exe file and it opens as a flashing tool. You put your phone into EDL mode and the tool then can flash the phone. Link

My device has same firmware version as on server.
So the question is do I need to download that file to proceed with rest of the process?
The reason I want to flash my device using better/different firmware is because WhatsApp web isn't working in my phone.
Camera in my IDOL 4s with Windows 10 NA is unable to scan whatsapp web QR code.
However 3rd party application is able to scan whatsapp web QR code.

Alcatel only has one fw revision per device variant. Each has the same issue which you list...Camera in my IDOL 4s with Windows 10 NA is unable to scan whatsapp web QR code. You can change fw but I doubt that will fix your issue as each variant faces that whatsapp issue even the Idol 4 Pro EURO variant.
I tried to get into Emergency Download Mode.
Q1: Instead of "QHUSB_BULK" or "Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008" I only see "Care Suite Emergency Connectivity". What should I do?
Q2: Once Q1 is solved, can I use VMware running Windows 10 Creators update? Because it says it's assumed to run that. Also I have Windows 7 on my machine; that's why I should use the Virtual Machine

For Q1 you might try to right click it in device manager and Update the Driver manually. Or let windows search for a better driver...
For Q2, technically you can as long as your HW supports virualizaion which is enabled in the bios (whole other topic...)

I asked a friend to borrow his computer running the latest Windows 10 update. Should I use his computer? He will bring it this weekend. Or do I really need the Windows 10 Creators update?
@dyasten
With emmcdl.exe do a test first.
emmcdl.exe -l ::: this should list devices it sees and you should see your port COMxx...or whatever the COM number is.
emmcdl.exe -p COMxx -f <Idol4S_PRO_WIN_NPRG7627.bin> ::: this should result in just a command complete. All it does is load the programmer and look for a repsonse.
If those work, I would assume you are good to flash the phone at that point. I will leave it up to you to decide on using a W10 pc or not...

I got command complete on my current Windows 7. It was on COM6. I did shift + right-click in the folder and opened cmd; there I did:
Code:
emmcdl.exe -p COM6 -f Idol4S_PRO_WIN_NPRG7627.bin -ffu RTM_IDOL_4S_Open_F1052.16.09031.50700_1052.16.09031.50700.FFU
It flashed succesfully I think:
Code:
<log value="Finished programming start_sector 122142720 and TotalSectorsToProgram 256"/>
</data>
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
<data>
<response value="ACK" rawmode="false" />
</data>
Status: 0 The operation completed successfully.
The reason I wanted to flash is because I want Dutch language on my phone. But after succesfully flashing I still don't see Dutch. How could I get the Dutch (Belgian) language pack?
You should be able to load the language pack cab file if it is missing by using iutool. What region are you residing in? If you are in Europe I guess you could flash the Idol 4 Pro variant ffu which I believe should have that language pack already packed in, but you would need to confirm that first...
Edit: There are 3 variant FFUs for this phone. The T-Mobile US / Open market / Idol 4 Pro
I flashed your ffu open marked there is no Dutch in it. Where to download the cab? I'm from Belgium, language is Dutch/Flemisch
