Just had the new kenwood deck installed... Should do almost anything. I have my incredible paired up and calls are clear. Problem is A2DP audio streaming. Does not work. No A2DP device is found. Yes, the manual gives directions to play streamed audio once bt is synced. Well, its synced, got my phone book on there, and calls are being made.
Any thoughts or ideas to get streaming audio?
I don't have any help to offer, but I am experiencing the same problem with my Pioneer FH-P8000BT. Pairs for phone calls with no issue and everything is clear, but the radio does not even "see" the device as being available for A2DP.
I previously paired a few different HTC phones (all running Windows Mobile) with this radio with no issues. I'm hoping it's a simple fix, but I can't find a single thing in the settings that I haven't played with to try and get it to work.
I have an Alpine HU with an Alpine KCE-400BT bluetooth add on. My streaming audio is working, although I don't get any song/artist info on screen. I do have an issue where the phone doesn't sync up all the time. It syncs up great in the morning. If I stop for gas or something (turn off the car briefly) and get back in, then the radio won't see the phone until a call comes in or is started from the phone (or I toggle BT on/off).
You might check with Pioneer on any firmware udpates.
My incredible works great with my Ford sync system. It always connects, calls are loud and crisp, and streaming bt audio works great. I use it to listen to Pandora all the time.

I have seen other people post issues with having bluetooth on the phone enabled before the car is on. If you turn the car on first and then the phone's bluetooth they said it worked fine.
I have Kenwood HU and my phone won't pair with it. my Blackberry Paired with it fine, and even did A2DP, and worked awesome...now......nothing.
Been looking for some answers as to why, but after calling Kenwood they said it's a software update that is missing.
however, seeing as some people are getting it working fine....I am suspecious.

My 4160 and serveral WM units worked, but the A2DP always had to be turned on by going into the menu every single time I wanted to listen to anything from the phone, but the Incredible does it by itself every time perfectly.
I have a Pioneer AVIC N4 and the audio for both calls and music works just fine out of the box.
I have the kiv-bt900 also, and it is my understanding that it does not have A2DP. I believe the A2Dp in the manual is referring to the KIV-700 with the add on bt module.

What does A2DP mean please?
it stands for Advanced Audio Distribution Profile. In simple terms, it's stereo audio transferred from one device to another via bluetooth. Example: Music from a phone/mp3 player to stereo bluetooth headphones, head units etc..

Well damn. The deck was sold to me from car toys (local vendor) under the pretense that it would do zune (works great) and A2DP...
Usb works great too... I was thinking of formatting a laptop drive to the mac file system (hfs) and hooking it up to the usb port to get a200GB drive of mp3 and video since it supports ipods. (works on xbx360, why not here?)
OK so a small fix, but not the end result.
with my Kenwood head unit I can make it work as long as I don't let it download the phonebook. and that is no problem since the phone sits on my dash in the car dock. but the problem is that EVERY time I start up my truck, or after I end a call it asks to re-download the phonebook.
it kinda irks me, but I cannot get it to stop asking, no setitngs on the stereo work.
I emailed Kenwood about possibly releasing a firmware update to include A2DP to the kiv bt900. They responder saying that there isn't enough demand for the feature for them to create a firmware update. So if we get enough people contacting them and requesting that feature, they will release and update. So you guys should all contact them to increase the demand for this feature. Hope this helps.
Here is exactly what they responded:
"I understand that you're inquiring about the KIV-BT900's Bluetooth features. We do apologize for any difficulties that you've experienced with this item. Unfortunatley, we cannot assist you with any firmware updates at this point since this model was just recently released to the market. Our company has not received enough demand for this feature which prevents us from developing or releasing an update for the KIV-BT900 unit. We may release an Bluetooth update in the future, however it's hard to determine at this time."
I'm willing to start complaining and sending some emails out to them. What email address did you send it too? I just got the player and that is def the only thing missing to make it complete for me.
I tried emailing the regular support channels and got the below message.

I spoke with a rep and they mentioned that A2DP missing from the unit is the most often called in issue about the unit.
I have a KDC-BT948 with the same issue. They removed A2DP and put in Pandora instead..and it only works through iPhone, which then uses up wireless data on a cell phone plan. So Android, MS phones, and any other bluetooth device can no longer be used with a Kenwood Car Stereo. Someone at Pandora really made an impression at someone in Kenwood. It is too bad that they are limiting consumers with their choice which ultimately limits their sales and increases complaints.
Should have everyone go do this and request a fix.

I have purchased the KDC-BT948HD radio.
Where I am overall happy with many of the features, looks, variable colors, and excellent sound quality of the unit, there are several things that I am extremely dissapointed in and would like to see an update released to resolve them.
1. SMS Received message on the unit: Might be useful to some, but to me it is a dangerous distraction while driving, especially at night. It has me take my eyes off the road to look at the unit and makes me want to look at my phone to read/send texts. Texting and driving is illegal in many states and there should be a way on the unit to allow a selection to turn this feature off.
2. BT Audio (A2DP) is missing. I have an Android phone with my music on it. Alone there are more Android phones than iPhones in use today. I wanted to have Bluetooth streaming audio so I can play my music from my phone to the unit. For such a high technology unit, it should be part of the firmware and flexibility to the consumer to use their device with more options. The previous year units had this enabled and seems to be disabled now replaced by a focus on a wired Apple connection and Pandora. Forcing use of Pandora also forces consumers to use up data rates on their wireless plans. If A2DP were enabled, more consumers could enjoy the product integration with standard BT devices offered by Apple, Android, Microsoft and many others. All could enjoy the music and audio applications on their devices including Pandora. I would like to request that A2DP be added to the firmware and source selection on this device. I should yield increase product ratings and sales as web searches show many complaints about this issue.
I would value your feedback on these points and potential solutions.

I previously owned the Evo and when I paired the bluetooth in my car with the phone, it immediately asked for permission to access the phonebook on the phone via PBAP (Phonebook Access Profile - a Bluetooth standard profile). This way the handset phonebook was accessible from the display on my car and also provided the information for Caller ID for contacts that existed in my address book.
I noticed when I paired the Epic with the car that the same thing didn't occur. When I try to access the handset phonebook from my car, it shows an entry for "MyInfo" and that is it. None of my other contacts are listed.
The question is whether there is a setting somewhere to allow this, or is the PBAP profile not available? In the technical specs for the phone, the PBA is listed as a profile for Bluetooth.
Same thing is happening to me. I have Ford Sync in an 08 Sable and it downloaded the phone book but when I try to voice dial it keeps asking me about "call MyInfo." Like that is the only listing there is. I am also having problems with the voice dialing on the phone itself (and not thru bluetooth), and with trying to record a memo. I keep getting the "try again" screen or "nothing is heard" notice. It's like the microphone is turned off. Anyone else having these problems? Thanks

I notice that there is no 'handsfree' profile available for bluetooth devices in the epic. With my former windoze phone, I did not have access to voice features from a bluetooth device until I applied a 'handsfree' profile rather than the standard 'headset' profile.
Does anyone know whether this is going to be fixed anytime soon? I really want the ability to press the button on my bluetooth, thereby activating voice dial and then voice dialing right from the bluetooth device rather than from the phone. I do not like physically handling the phone at all while in the car.

This is an issue with Ford Sync. It intercepts all interaction with the phone and doesn't relay any voice to the phone I believe. A feature I loved, but with 2.2 and 3.0 will become outdated quickly (I'd like to be able to issue Voice Actions over bluetooth for sending text messages and changing pandora stations).
Voice dialing on my '10 Fusion and Phonebook downloading works perfectly fine.

I second that question. Sprint store tech says android 2.2 is suppose to fix that and everything else (exchange setting to allow attachment download) We'll see
Same issue with BMW and Epic
I'm having this issue as well, exactly like the original poster described, but in a 2010 BMW 3-series with iDrive. This is a huge disappointment coming from an EVO and iPhone before that. Hopefully this issue will be resolved quickly or the phone might have to go back. I can deal with everything else, including the inexplicable lack of ability to move messages between folders in Exchange, but this is crucial as I spend a lot of time in my car. Ugh.
Any help?
Any help on this issue? It really is a deal-breaker for me, as I bet it is for many others.

So, here is an update on the situation. Yesterday I applied the Epic maintenance update that was just released. Today I was in the car when I received a call. Previously, my car would just show the phone number because it couldn't read the phone book on the phone, but today it showed the name and phone number. So I went into the "handset phonebook" option on my car, and it was able to see all of my Exchange contacts in the phone, something that I wasn't able to do previously.
It appears that this might've been addressed with the latest update, although the release notes (as far as I know) don't make any mention of it.
This happened to me the first time I synced my phone to a 2009 Mini Cooper S Works (similar to the BMW systems). All I got was "My Info". I was bummed out about it, since I'm in the market for a new car soon and I really liked the Cooper. I paired it to my girlfriend's VW Tiguan. Synced fast and easy and everything worked perfectly. So I was thinking, OK, stuck with a GTI then. Out of curiostity, I tried syncing it again to the Mini, and voila! Everything worked perfectly. It wasn't fixed by the DI07 update, this worked before I installed the update.
To all those having this issue, try syncing again. There wasn't anything that popped up on the phone or anything. I literally changed nothing, just retried it and it worked.
I solved Samsung Xcover (S5690, Android 2.3.6) connection to a carkit on Renault Laguna 3.
Steps used:
1. I root phone;
2. I used ES File Explorer to access system files. In ES File Explorer settings I give root privileges.
3. I installed from Google Play program “Mount / system (rw / ro)” (free).
4. I run Mount/system (rw / ro) and I enabled "mount r/w". He is active several seconds, so it goes quickly to ES File Explorer.
5. I open ES File Explorer: --- / system / app /. I look for Bluetooth.apk and I renamed to bluetooth.apk.bak.
6. File bluetoothpbap ...... . apk does not start at all.
The biggest surprise was that the car recognizes the phone, contacts, media, everything.
I hope to work on other samsung phones (I think it's a general problem).
So I went to a Verizon store today and got conned (actually it's a good deal if you plan on accessorizing anyway), and got one of their bundles. The screen protector, car mount, car charger, skin (case) and a Jawbone ICON.
I had wierd bluetooth syncing issues with my DX to the point I stopped using it entirely. Anyone a heavy BT user and can offer any tips?
For My Car: I used to set up Tasker to automatically turn on BT when launched to car dock but often times, it wouldn't automatically sync, I had to do it manually. Also, I'd ideally always have the car sync to media, my Jawbone to phone, etc.
I am pretty sure there was a question in there but more or less trying to obtain some tribal knowledge as I need to committ myself to using this while in car, my Sony deck has the worst mic in the world so any and all help appreciated.
Common practices, BT apps that improve syncing issues, familiarity with Jawbones beta MyTalk service?

Got my black Z1c yesterday, love it so far!
However, when I try to use it in my car (Audi A6 2008), I cannot place a call if it was initiated from the car's interface.
The phone connects to BT no probs and shows my car in the devices list as a headset. Incoming calls are reflected on the car's display, and connected to the speaker's/mic of the car. When I place a call from the phone itself - same deal, all works as expected. But when I use the car's controls to dial a number, the car's display shows "connecting", and nothing happens...
Tried to pair/unpair many times, no success. Tried other phones, like iPhone 5, Samsung Ativ S (WP8), Samsung Galaxy S4 Active, HTC One - all work seamlessly. My old Xperia Z was working fine, until I sold it to get the Z1c... I would never expect Z1c to behave like this...
Anyone has similar issues?

Thanks, will try. The phone was just outta box when I was trying it in my car... The car was the first BT device it has ever been paired wtih...
Phone calls work fine on mine.
BUT while we're on the topic of vehicle BT, has anyone got working song info via bluetooth? I thought it was supposed to support avrcp 1.3, but in my car (2013 Ford SYNC) I still get no info about songs I'm listening to and also the voice commands for playing artists or albums don't work.

In my Toyota Auris 2013 model song info always worked with Walkman app assuming you have tags filled out correctly.
I know there were some issues with tag info in Poweramp I prefer to use but they got that fixed recently. Advanced options to display song info on external BT device is just buried deep in app's settings though.
Everything works fantastic on my BMW F10 (2012) with Navigation Professional, Bluetooth Music with Song Info, Phone with contact pictures (! Didn't even know that was possible until I got the Z10c) and full Message Access Profile with historic E-Mail and SMS access.
The In-Car integration is the main reason why I am torn between iPhone 5s and Xperia Z1c.
The iPhone has the Advantage of "BMW Apps", which allow using Webradio, Facebook, RSS Feeds etc. through the Navigation, as well as iPod Control and Coverart Display.
The Z10 can't do those things, but it can do Bluetooth MAP which is rather important to me also. Webradio can of course be streamed via BT (and controlled on the phone).
One of my cars is a 2008 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor. Since it's a retired cop car, it doesn't have any anti-theft system, no chip keys/immobilizer, and there are various keys out there that can easily open/start my car. My friend found a random key in his Crown Vic ex-cop-car from a completely different department and even though the key is cut totally different it still opens and starts my car. I'm sure there are plenty of other keys out there that will work with my car as well, which is why I'm worried about it getting stolen.
I have a spare cheap phone (with like no resale value) on Xfinity Mobile, there are no line fees, so if I can stay under 100MB of data in a month it's free, or it'll cost me $12 for 1GB which is no problem.
Features I'm looking for are:
-Tracking ability
-Text me when the car is started.
-Text me when there is an impact with the car (using the accelerometer in the phone I guess?)
The tracking device is easy... just use Android Device Manager or Lookout or some other remote tracking app. The problem is the other two things... Not sure how I'd accomplish that honestly. I'm a web developer but I have no idea how to even start with Android app development...
Looking for input, hopefully someone on here could point me in the right direction. I've tried Googling/Binging but nothing I've found is even remotely similar to what I'm trying to do. Thanks in advance!
I was looking for the same thing. But all I found was OBD2 devices or some Chinese that used SMS for communication.
But after long time of searching I found ,,carlock,, it is OBD2 but it is using it only for power so you can use only OBD2 dummy for powering it. It has nice APP, using internet and it's not that expensive.
But if you found different solution let me know.
not a dev, but just wanted to comment on what Mato_xXx said about the chinese app that uses SMS.. if someone were to make an app, in some places (not sure if this is the case in China) data is more than SMS and vice versa.. and i know that those chinese made GPS car tracker devices work like this:
-uses GPS to record location
-checks every so often for location changes
-if location changes SMS gets sent to a number you pre-programmed into it every several seconds
these devices come with apps you can download to track the location of vehicle using google maps. Here is an example of said device:

these things meet the criteria of your first requirement without the use of data (it instead uses SMS). If someone were to make a car security app, they should add this as a feature (location via SMS) because depending on what provider you are using you might run out of data or you could go over you data limit and amass a large bill... this would be an issue for people in Canada as we have some of the most expensive cell data in the world
I think what needs to be done is an app that can be installed where you can make it so the car wont start without some kind of authentication entered via your android device + the key..
what I think you were talking about when you said your friend found a key that would start your crown vic is the crown vic fleet key, which will start any crown vic (and usually the glove box and the trunk) ; (again, i am a new user,cannot post links, but serach google for "crown vic fleet key")
and because your vehicle is an old crown vic, its not going to have any wireless daig features so im assuming you'd have to buy some kind of hookup adapter for OBD2 to interface with your car.. but if you make any progress with this project please let us know..
