Coocher 5 Port Desktop Wall Charger (great for travel!) - General Accessories

I am reviewing the following device in return for the usage and review of the said item here in XDA. I am not employed or affiliated with them, they were kind enough to seek my opinion on this product.
While not an accessory specific to Nexus 6, I figured I'd add this here because the N6 does have Quick Charging and wanted to let people know my experience with the item.
And honestly, I was looking for one of these desktop chargers for home. I previously bought one when I go on trips to power my various devices, but was looking to upgrade due to me and my wife's phone now equipped with Quick Charge 2.0.
Upon receiving it, The packaging was really nice. Minimal and not too much. Just enough to protect the contents and not hard to unpack at all. Inside housed the desktop charger, the plug, instructions, and other literature as seen in the pics.
The look is a nice textured matte finish and you can grip it pretty well. It has a good weight to it so it won't fly off your desk if you push papers towards it. You can orient it any way you would like to use it, but my preference for this charger is flat with the print facing up. I found that this way, it won't flop over, even though it has some heft to it, you can accidentally knock it over.
There is a power LED when you plug it into the wall. Not bright, just a nice dim blue led to let you know it's on. IMO a nice touch. Next I plugged in both mine and my wife's phone. (Nexus 6 and HTC M8 respectively). And both charged up pretty quickly! I then tested out the remaining three ports (the non-quick charge ones) and all worked as it should. Also I have to note that all the USB ports were easy to plug in and remove with different usb cords.
So is there really any negatives here? Not that I can see. This is a great product for the price listed on Amazon (17 USD prior to shipping if not a prime member).
Maybe offer different colors? With different color LEDs? Just throwing some quick things off the top of my head. But otherwise it's a great product to use.
Would I recommend this? Yes! Because multiple devices that have Quick Charge, we needed this for the times we need to quickly charge up before heading out to of the house and not really worry about carrying external batteries.
Any questions feel free to ask! Pics below

[Q] Iphone style music dock for Captivate

. .
I doubt they would have anything for the Galaxy Phones since the Jack and USB connection in that case is normally on the TOP of the phone (like the Captivate)
You'd have better luck modding and building your own. Considering the phone doesn't do upside down portrait at all oddly. I doubt it would be nearly anything like the iPod style docks since Apple did have the brilliance (the few times I do give them a compliment) of putting their major connector on the bottom of their mobile and portable products.
Although should such a product exist, I would be interested in seeing such thing maybe even purchasing one.

Mine does upside-down portrait just fine. (Though I think I'm quoting the wrong post, since I don't see the upside-down statement in your post.) (Nevermind, I see it now. Good, I am quoting the right person.) You have to go in display settings and enable 180-degree rotation or something like that. Some roms don't have that option, though so YMMV.
Samsung has done some good horizontal desk docks for it (once you register your captivate with samsung, it shows you a crapload of nice accessories) so it probably wouldn't be too hard to make one.
Easiest design would be to buy one of the horizontal desk docks, a small 3.5mm speaker set from Radio Shack, and drill a small hole in the dock to plug them in, then attach the speakers to the dock.
Could be done for under $50 if you use the Samsung official dock, way less if you use one from ebay or amazon.
Get the kind that is just an empty drawer and a headphone cord. Phone's right side up and you've got speakers.

External batteries/Portable chargers

I'm looking to buy one for when i'm traveling to charge my phone/tablet and looking for suggestions on brands/models/etc. Probably don't really want to spend much more than ~$50 on one. Only requirements are that it isn't too big and bulky to not fit well in a laptop travel case. And the more mAh the better obviously. Thanks.

There are a lot of brands out there. Morphie seems to be one of people's top picks - probably because it looks super nice and marketed well. I personally have never own one and think it's a bit on the pricey side. I have a Ravpower one with 10,400 mah which was mentioned in this thread if you wanna take a look. Works great. Not heavy at all which was surprising. And can charge my nexus 7 about 2 times before i need to charge again. Think Ravpower have smaller ones too, but 10,400 might be their largest capacity charger.
These portable power chargers seems to be everywhere now. You can probably find some in stores too. Think I saw a low mAh one at Lowes the other day by either Duracell or Energizer, but these might not be best for heavy charging.
I just ordered 2 antec powerup 3000's apparently they have Panasonic batteries. I will report back!

There is a portable charger from Trident Case that allows you to charge 2 devices at once...one port is for small devices like a phone (1.0A) and the other is for larger devices like tablets (2.0A)...all you need is a USB plug to charge...it comes with a micro USB cable. It's originally $99 but they are having a sale through Feb. 18th

Car Jump Starter RAVPower 14000mAh Portable Charger (550A Peak Current, LCD Display,

I was given this for testing and evaluation and this is my unbiased review:
One may argue that having a car jumper in your car is not of dire importance. Most may say that they never have needed one in the past, so why would they ever need one in the future. Well, we all make mistakes, and having this device around when the time comes will feel like an absolute godsend, and you will feel brilliant for having the foresight to have purchased this particular device. Whether it be leaving your lights on and accidentally killing your battery, or showing the good Samaritan within you by helping your fellow man stuck on the side of the road. Having a car jumper of this quality will make you a hero to anyone in need whilst you are around. Even if you do not know how to operate the device yourself, most people do, and simply having the device with you will save you from at least a few headaches in the future.
The Ravpower 1400mah is an absolute gem of a device. It is an incredibly reliable car battery jumper, and unlike most car jumping devices on the market, this one is not builky and frustrating to use. It is clearly evident that the design team did as much as they could to make this device as sleek as possible and easy to use. It even has its own flashlight. It is small and highly portable, and comes with a wall charger, car charger, 2 USB cables and the car jumper itself. All of this is carried in a small bag that is barely noticeable in the trunk of ones car, or under one of the seats within the cabin. You are going to absolutely love this device.
In order to test this device I took this risk of allowing my battery to die four times over a four day period by leaving my lights on. Each subsequent day I would use the car jumper to jump the battery and each time it was successful on the first try. The device worked flawlessly.
If you cannot tell already, I highly recommend this device. Not only is it easy to bring around with you, but it is so much more than your average car battery jumper. It accommodates the modern day traveler very well by providing not only a flashlight but it can also charge multiple phones at the same time. This device is a must have for anyone that uses their car often, especially when taking a long trip.

QI Charger stand. Difference?

Hello there fellers...
Is there any difference between last gen. wireless charging stand and the new one released together for S8?
Does the new one have faster charging speed?
If you mean this one,

I got one and did not like it. Unlike the Samsung Qi charger I had purchased for my car, this one seems to cycle constantly. So it goes on battery, and the phone discharges for a while, then it starts charging, then you get a full charge and it turns off and the cycle starts over. I found it too annoying to use.
Thanks. The new convertible stand looks great but is a bit expensive for now.
Edit: I read on a review for this model that "the correct power supply must be used for it to function properly."

If you mean that it should use the cables/wall plug that it came with, yes, that's true. I have two of them and without a quickcharging cable/cable, it doesn't charge/work as a quick charger.
Sindroid,
Here is the one I have been using
https://www.amazon.ca/Wireless-Char...24826&sr=8-1&keywords=spigen+wireless+charger
Works very well, not high speed but 3.5 hours for full charge and very sturdy. Also has the rubberized grip so very sturdy for the phone to sit on as well. Highly recommend it.

This looks very cool. Does it come with cables and a wall plug? I see "a" cable, but not sure if comes with all the necessary cables. I found it on the US site for $25 (guessing that's what it is at the exchange for CAD).
I'm using the new convertible charger. So far so good.

BESTEK MRJ8008 8 outlet Power strip with USB jacks

Hey Guys!,
If you are like me, you have all kinds of things needing power by your entertainment center! You have your TV, Blue Ray, Game console, Receiver, sub woofer, satellite or cable box, Android box, Chromecast, Fire Stick, etc! Some of them have those PITA power blocks that either sit 90 degrees or are too large and block another outlet. The same may be said for your computer desk I am sure. New power cubes are starting to show up that offer a solution! BESTEK offers a fairly decent one that provides eight standard 120V outlets and 6 USB 2.4Amp outlets!
Here is the unit on EBAY with a lot more pix http://www.ebay.com/itm/BESTEK-Powe...Protector-with-8A-6-Port-USB-Ch-/122449628497
That was the lowest price I can find on Ebay
BUT....it is much cheaper on Amazon!!! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M5JD5VY. AND for XDA members I was told that if you add code BA6F993J in your Amazon checkout it will be only $30.99!!! This has been extended until August 31, 2017!
This is what the back of my entertainment center looked like:

}
But after replacing the 2 power strips with the BESTEK power cube it looked a bit better:
There are LEDs on the unit to let you know the power is on to your devices. These LEDs are light sensitive so auto-dim for night mode or nice and bright for daytime. The nice thick long power cord also has a low profile 90 degree flat plug for those tight spaces.
The USB ports with 2.4 Amp outputs are enough to trigger Fast or Rapid charge on many devices! So this is perfect for reducing the clutter under that computer desk!
Thanks for reading!
UPDATE: So I got a 2nd one for my computer desk!
Here is what it looked like before:
You can see I had to add another strip PLUS a 3-2 adapter just to make all those power supplies fit.
Here you see how the BESTEK surge protector handles those pesky large adapters:
And here is the result of the addition of the Bestek surge protector under my desk:
The results? The removal of a strip just to accommodate those large adapters, another strip completely empty, and 6 USB ports still available right at my fingertips (or in this case toe tips )
