[UVS2EPG2-N910T] [UVU1COG2-N910T] Bootloader and Baseband ONLY - T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4 Android Development

Since all I could find were the full ROM/firmware Odin packages for the new UVU1COG2, I extracted the bootloader and baseband/modem and made them separate Odin flash-able tar.md5 packages for those that may be interested in only updating these 2 and nothing else. (Example: I'm running CM 12.1, and want to keep it that way, but want to use the newer baseband & bootloader)

In ODIN 3.09+:
baseband goes in CP
bootloader goes in BL
Cheers.

By popular request, I've done this for the newest UVS2EPG2 firmware as well. You can find them in the same download link.

Not OCG2... You mean the COG2 bootloader and baseband, if
that's the case you are right...
Just odin flash the two files before flashing the tekxodus upgrade
and be sure to do a full wipe and factory reset before odin flashing..
Good luck,
Have a great day!

Can you safely downgrade your baseband? I keep reading that COG2 is recommended, but my Note 4 already has DOFC.
Also is COG2 just recommended because of Wifi calling?

You can easily downgrade dofc/dog1 to cog2, cod6 or even nk4 kitkat
by simply doing a full wipe and odin flashing either of those firmwares.
Before odin flashing any firmwares be sure to have a copy of your favorite
custom zip file rom on your external or internal sdcard.
After odin flashing the firmware you have chosen out of those 3 firmwares
simply odin flash twrp recovery, then do a full wipe including factory reset.
No need to re-root because all zip file roms are pre-rooted.
Then simply twrp flash the zip file rom which you have copied to the phone.
COG2 is the latest firmware which has wifi calling working properly
unless you flash any of the dofc/dog1 zip file roms, if you flash any
of the dofc/dog1 roms the wifi calling feature will not work at all.
Good luck,
Have a great day!

So I'm still on NK4 running the Bobcat themed DynamicKat rom. I tried the whole ODIN COG2 then DynamicPop and all was good until I tried to restore my phone back to DynamicKat.
I decided I didn't like not having a theme like I had and presently don't have the time to make anything so all I am trying to do now is have COG2 Bootloader/Baseband but running on KitKat. I feel like I might be missing a step somewhere so if anyone could help that would be appreciated!

Here is a step by step guide:
Easy and sure way to root your phone - Here is s step by step guide:
After you have followed these instructions your phone will be in the same condition
as it was the day you have purchased it except with the benefit of being rooted.
Download the stock-rooted Samsung Galaxy S3 Jellybean v4.1.1 T999 firmware: http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=9390169635556426451
After downloading make a folder on your computer's desktop and unzip the
file using Winzip or 7zip so the .TAR file is in the new folder you just made.
Download and extract Odin into the same folder you made containing the TAR file
Here is the link for Odin: http://d-h.st/Q14
Download ODIN which is required for flashing the stock rooted firmware (a windows app)
Download the Odin Flash firmware for T999 Tmobile then copy it to the same folder as Odin
Run Odin by double clicking the Odin.exe within the same folder as the TAR file you extracted
Turn off your phone and boot into DOWNLOAD MODE (Volume Down + Home + Power Hold until phone powers up, then release and press Volume Up to enter Download Mode)
Once in Download Mode, connect the USB/Charger cable to the phone and plug into the USB port on your computer.
You should now see a COM** port listed toward the top-left of Odin (under ID:COM)
Click on the PDA button in the middle-right area of Odin.
Browse to and select the Firmware you downloaded (TAR file)
Make sure Auto-Reboot and F. Reset Time are the only options checked and that PDA is the only other thing checked.
TRIPLE CHECK your settings and that you have selected the correct firmware for your model phone and are using the correct options.
If you are using a laptop, make absolutely sure you are plugged in, or if on battery, that it is charged enough and will not go into sleep mode during flash.
Click Start to begin the flash. This will take a while, so be patient!
Once complete, in the top-left box in Odin, it will say PASS and the phone should have automatically rebooted.
You may unplug the phone and close Odin if you wish.
Wait at least 5-10 minutes for the system to boot the first time and then build its cache!
(It may seem to take a long time on first boot, this is normal so you must be very patient!!!)
Good Luck!

The reason is that Jody (the developer) removed the new RADIO/MODEM image
from the rom so everyone including those people who have AT&T Unlocked phones
can use the rom.
If you want the original baseband/modem/radio cwm/twrp flashable zipfile here
is the UVDMD5 Radio/Baseband Download Link - http://db.tt/RgrCGufl
Only flash this if you have a Samsung Galaxy S3 T999 device and you have Tmobile service.
You can root same way as all prevouse stock ROMs. Install custom recovery with Odin and then flash superuser in recovery.

Except for one thing. After odin flashing recovery you cannot let the device restart. Everytime you boot up it checks for correct recovery and if its not there it rewrites it.

That's one of the main reasons I always suggest NOT to odin flash the stock T999 4.1.2 tar rom
but instead flash the cwm/twrp T999 pre-rooted deoxidized 4.1.2 rom which Jody setup for us.
People should have been warned about what you said before they allowed the OTA update to
upgrade their phones unless they don't want root access and want their phone to be pure stock.

Its all been covered pretty thoroughly, and all folks need to do is read! I know its asking an awful lot for some.
I haven't looked at jovys but there are two files that cause the recovery rewrite, and if he didnt remove them his rom will do the same.
If I remember right they are:
Install-recovery.sh
Recovery-on-boot.p
The second is wrong im pretty sure, but its something similar. Check my firmware thread and it should be there.
Hope that helps.

I was just looking in your "Firmware/OTAs T999(V) Official, Leaked & Root66 FW & OTA Updates" thread
and downloaded the "root66_TMO_T999UVDMD5.7z" which is the pre-rooted Odin flash 4.1.2 firmware.
The reason I downloaded it is that I just want to have a odin flash rooted backup of 4.1.2 in case I need it in the future.
I wanted to ask if this firmware includes the modem/radio in the TAR file?
If it does, what is the filename of the modem/radio file? (I need to remove it).
My phone is an Unlocked AT&T I747 Galaxy S3 which I am using with Tmobile service and
I do not want to flash the modem/radio since it will not work with my phone.
Thanks.

Modem is NON-HLOS.bin. Can't remove it, because the md5 check will fail.
Maybe ask mrrobinson if he can give you any pointers on how to remove it correctly. The steps he uses to create root66 would likely work to remove the modem as well.
Do you have the same partition layout as us? If not, dont use any of the firmware. If so you can always flash it and then flash your correct radio after.

I don't think that Odin requires the .MD5 extension, I know I have Odin flashed

I am sure I have the same partition layout, I am using the cwm/twrp flashable zipfile of the pre-rooted UVDMD5 T999 4.1.2 rom.
Before I got the Unlocked AT&T Galaxy S3 I had the galaxy S2 which I used with AT&T network and flashed the
root66 Odin flash roms before and had no problems, but since I am with Tmobile now I need to remove the radio file.
Since I am with Tmobile now, I never odin flashed roms due to the fact that they all contain the radio file.
Mobile Odin will flash without the md5 extension. Cant remember for sure with pc odin. I may try it later tonight to see for sure. You can also deselect the modem when flashing via M.O. in case you didnt know, though
I am also pretty sure you have the same layout as the t999. I appreciate you taking the time to do it in a way that is safe and wont brick!
I do think you would be ok to flash the full fw though, just make sure you have a copy of the correct modem and flash it right after.
Ill let you know for sure about the md5 after I get home and try it out.

Take in count that by flashing the MK2 stock tar you will end up with the knox bootloader. If you trip the knox flag you will not be entitled to warranty work. If that does not matter to you, then go ahead and flash ;b
Your best bet to prevent this is to get a stock rom cwm flashable that does not include the bootloader.
thanks everyone.
just so i'm clear (i already soft bricked my phone), you all suggest getting the cwm stock rom and update my modem first?

[Q] GS4 Tmobile Stock firmware file

Hi as always I come for the expert advice to you guys. I have recently UPDATED my Galaxy S4 for Tmobile to CyanogenMod. Frankly I love the speed but it is still in beta version and has a few things I did not like. Few glitches. Anyway:
I want to go back to my stock firmware which was Kit Kat 4.2.2.before I installed Cyanogenmod.
I already downloaded Odin V3 09 and am ready to do this but I still do not have the stock firmware file. I looked for it but I really don't want to screw it up.
Can someone be so kind and insert the link to the download ? And if of course possible STEP BY STEP instructions on HOW TO GO BACK ?
I understand my phone now is rooted and will stay rooted after reinstalling Kit Kat. So I still should be able to get rid of all the bloatware correct ?
Any help greatly appreciated and huge THANKS IN ADVANCE !!!
Download firmware here http://www.cheatersedge.org/android/m919/M919UVUFNB4_M919TMBFNB4_TMB_FENNY_FIXED.zip, there is a thread already on instructions on how to flash.. and just because you rooted doesn't mean your device will stay rooted forever. Once you flash the firmware you will be unrooted but you can root again.. Alternatively you can just flash a debloated stock rom in recovery

Finding the stock firmware won't be easy unless you try downloading from sammoble, but you could try Fenny's stock rooted 4.4.2 rom in development.
It's very smooth without the bloatware and it has unlimited tethering.
It works best with Philz recovery.
Just follow the directions and your good to go.
Don't forget to do a factory reset.
Pp.
Sent from my Touchwiz device that never forgets apps.
PIN lock screen does NOT work on Fenny's rom when you first boot/restart/power up the phone. So, if you are turning your phone on the lock screen will just be skipped over.
Pin lock issue could be NG if you need that type of security.

When it comes to those files " OFFICIAL TAR AND ORIGINAL TAR " do I just choose any one of them ?? I wanted to know the difference between them both. Instructions don't really specify which to choose. Or is it both ?
And also there is a suggestion to " Wipe the data in recovery " after the whole thing how do I do that ? Should I do that ?
Thank you again for your help.

You don't have to worry about that, just use the tar file I posted earlier
Edit: and for the wipe data, you reboot to recovery after you flashed the firmware and do a factory reset.. Yes you should, but not necessary if you don't have any issues..

Sorry one more thing:
In the instructions Auto Reboot is checked. I have watched a few videos with the F. Reset Time also checked, should I check both in Odin ?

I don't think any of them are necessary, but you can check both of them if you want.. I always have F.Reset checked and reboot disabled because I like to reboot on my own but that's just me

Wifi will not turn on

I am currently running the MOAR note 5 hybrid rom. I flashed the custom marshmallow rom on the front page, and now I can not connect to wifi. I have tried flashing several different modems and firmwares. Any tips?

If you're saying you flashed the leaked MM tar, your bootloader changed.
You must go back to the OK1 bootloader or stock tar before flashing lollipop ROM or restoring a backup. I'd suggest going with OK1 stock tar if you didn't have a TWRP backup for Moar.

What are you trying to do and why?
If you've tried reverting from Lollipop to Marshmallow or vice versa without using full stock tar in Odin; i.e., restoring a TWRP backup, the bootloader would need to need to reverted to match the original ROM base, else Wi-Fi doesn't connect and the camera doesn't focus. Freeza has a thread with the dedicated Odin tars in development forum.
Are you asking how to Odin flash?

Thanks for the reply. My Sprint Note 4 was updated to Marshmallow before I unlocked the bootloader & rooted. I'd like to try out this ROM & cm13, but have read that I'll need to downgrade my modem & bootloader (maybe other things, not sure). I'm not sure how to do that.

OK, you know how to use Odin then. Download the files from thread, check the md5's and use the AP slot in Odin.

In case you forgot, the illustrative version starts around 4 minute mark. Maybe it's just me but before I volume up, I get Odin ready and connect USB.

Do I need to revert everything back to 5.1.1 LP?
Or just certain things? I was able to find the tar, but not sure how to do only certain items.
I'm thinking I'm going to just wait it out till they're able to get everything working on the newest firmware. I'm used to HTC and all this tar, OK1, Odin, etc stuff is really foreign to me at this point, haha.

The point of the tars freeza shared was to not have to revert everything but you still can. Freeza's method is convenient where TWRP backups for 5.1 and 6.0 exist to restore but moving to CM should be easier to.
It's not so difficult, just different than what you're accustomed to. I suppose you already know that OEM and CM are very different and since data isn't compatible, you should wipe data and internal but have your backups, keep sakes and flash items on extSdCard to avoid loss.
To answer your question, you'd flash the ROM, then flash the Odin tars. One tar per Odin session; let the phone auto reboot. Only other tool you really need besides Odin on PC is the Samsung driver installed. You find that at Samsung support for Note 4; download and install the .exe file.

I may venture into this then. Would I have the same wifi & camera issues if I tried to run a cm12.1 ROM? I'm guessing so...

Downgrade from 4.4.4 to 4.4.2

Please I tried to downgrade my galaxy S4 from t-mobile and I bricked it(already fixed it), but I need to downgrade it to unlock it. I tried every way I found here but I keep bricking it
I believe you are suppose to flash the 4.2.2 modem, root, the run regionlockaway, and reflash current modem.

I'm having trouble finding the modems
Confirm the model number in download mode, then do a google search for the appropriate firmware, extract the modem, and flash it?
I'm not sure but you maybe able to use other m919 roms for extract the modem to unlock the phone.

It seems I talked too early but this problems more easy.....my dialer and messaging app are slow af but I'm wondering if I can re-flash the stock 4.4.4 firmware even if that's the version I currently am? Because think I the problem is the modem that I flash had problem

Yep, I re-flashed the stock firmware and it works?
After downgrading the modem, I always recommend reflashing the latest rom from sammobile.com in Odin followed by a full wipe in stock recovery.

Yeah that was I ended doing since I didn't want any problem. I will upload it in a minute
1hr till it uploads ?
Here's regionlockaway
Here's the link:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_V3a99HuE-tamQtUEU3TGdwVkU/view?usp=sharing
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_V3a99HuE-tNzUtaEVTN0hDRkE/view?usp=sharing
Both have the same files.
1. Unzip and flash 4.2.2 modem with Odin(CP Button).
2. Open RegionLockAway and follow the instructions.
3. Once RegionLockAway finish flash 4.4.4 modem.
It's better if you're in stock(if you wanna be sure nothing happens).
