Same here... $914.99 for 64 Gigs on AT&T. Can't be helped. We'll weep tears of blood when the price drops to $600 in next few months... :silly:

It cost's really less in the area where I live...

Its not worth it anymore, in 2 months the phones will be on craigslist. Android phones come out too fast and they don't hold their value.

They are much cheaper on handtec!

God damn it people!
You lot all buying this gives them the ammunition they need to keep on selling at these crazy flipping prices!! And who are we kidding, of course it'll sell.
But Iive in hope, Samsung are losing more market share due to these budget phones becoming more popular. But Samsung have never been good at hearing their customers

It would indeed be folly to write this mobile is not expensive, it is but so are most quality things in life?
Spend a little get a little back, Aston Martin are expensive as are numerous other uber cars. Consider the specifications and materials used with the Edge+. Again I am not suggesting its a cheap mobile but has Apple ever been cheap? Apple are the richest company on earth and though they do indeed make a superb product they are generally not so well specified as other flag ship mobiles.
I own the latest Apple iPhone and though it is a thing of beauty the actual specs are years behind the normal S6 that I also happen to own.
The micro engineering and development costs that go into the new generation of flagship Samsung are what bought me back to them after a long break, When I think how Samsung sold us plastic metal, plastic leather and plastic stitching I have no problem paying a premium price for a premium device. I sincerely doubt one could refer to the new flagship range of Samsung's as anything other than premium devices.
I think the S6 is a superb mobile and for the lower price is leagues ahead of its Apple counterpart. I dread to think what the cost of the new iPhone will be? Still they are again a premium mobile, heck they may even place a HD screen in the 6S?

Personally I thought the device is expensive but after using it for a week I don't regret my purchase. In mobile world we can't really keep up with new technology in 6 months your device is outdated something new will and you if compare you'll always regret it. If the device and it's features makes you happy then that's all it matters. If you are worried about the price go for different one there a tons of devices that offers fairly good features with much less cost like One Plus etc.
Sent from my SM-G928G using XDA Free mobile app

The good thing is that mobile technology has pretty much peaked over the last few years or so, so if you buy an edge+, you're probably good to go for the next 3 years.
Gone are the days of ground breaking new features and big leaps - It's just same sh*t different year - There's only so much you can shove in a phone.
I upgraded from a Note 3 to this as my contract ran out and to be honest, the screen is a bit better, sure it's a bit faster, not hugely though - The biggest change is the camera which is a lot better. I did a side by side comparison last night, clearing the ram of both handsets and launching things and there wasn't a massive amount in it at all. I don't understand why people buy outright then sell a few months later when the next thing comes out, such a waste of money when you're getting pretty much no improvement over the last model.
Had I not come to the end of my contract I certainly wouldn't have bothered. It's a bit better, but not £750 of better.

" Phones4u announced today on Google+ that the retailer will have the flagship phone exclusively at their store in Oxford Circus (which is one of the busiest).
In addition to that awesome bit of news, the first 100 purchasers will get a £250 voucher for media content for the Nexus.
They have also stated that ice cream sandwiches will also be served, which is worth the trip in itself."

Galaxy Wonder The Forgotten Phone

Why is it that I feel that SGW is somehow being phased out. A 1.4 Ghz processor phone but no ICS Support. It is not very much talked about nowadays which is a little understandable because of new phone releases. But what's worse, in our country (Philippines), price went down by almost 5,000 pesos. That's more than 100 USD and it's cheaper than Galaxy Ace!
I'm getting very much dissapointed buying this phone
i can relate
been to glorietta 3 days ago to find the phone (SGW) i bought just this december is already on sale at 12k (much to my dissapointment),gawd i spent 17K+ for this.. the only explanation i got (from the samsung saleslady) was that they are trying to compete SGW with nokia's lumia hence the price slash..
It's the first time for me to buy an expensive phone, and also is the first time I saw a phone price drop in less than 2 weeks, and its one hell of a drop..
What's to compete with Lumia anyways, Symbian always fail to defeat Android.
It shouldn't have been the price that was changed but the features i.e. ICS official rom..
No respect to the first customers who bought the phone.
Now when I look at my phone, I find it not unique anymore but a stupid rubbish.

there is a very active Dev community,
and peeps who are willing to help in any way, to make users experience better.
Also, just to compare our Wonder with the Ace, here is a comparison from Gsm Arena:

Yes I know there's nothing really to be disappointed of if we are looking at the bright side, but I ain't . I wonder if the downprice would hit the market. It seems even with this low price, W is still very unpopular. Lacks advertisements I guess.
Actually I bought this phone second hand just recently for 11 thousand pesos. (Just a week before the down price). I wonder if he foresee that there's gonna a be a price bargain. Anyway, looking forward to master Arco's success.

Because of similar sets from Samsung, no one set in middle range is getting popular.
But there is chance if the the W prices are going down, then lot of people will but it resulting in a bigger community and more development.

Samsung need not be threatened by Nokia's Lumia since it is a Windows phone. Android is more friendly due to its ease of use and due to mods mainly developed by people in this community.
I have been in a mall last weekend and Samsung released a dual core phone much like the Wonder in size and appearance, also in the original price range of the Wonder. That may be the reason for the price drop.
Didnt get much info though since I am not interested in getting a new phone at the moment.

From his description, a recently released Samsung phone, pricing somewhat close to W's original release price, looks a bit much like W, and has a dual core processor, i'm pretty sure its galaxy S Advance.
Maybe the lesson here is, if your gonna choose a Samsung phone, don't settle for mid-range.

I was browsing the net today, when i stumbled across a new phone from HTC. The Desire C. Rubbish phone but...ICS! That's insulting! Check it out on gsm arena (it won't let me post external links yet xD)
yeah maybe its price dropped but if your only for a bit gaming and some browsing but more on texting, music and videos then definitely its the perfect phone, not the expensive, got a decent processor and more for only a cheap price. before buying a phone we must consider first on what we really want to do and if we can use its full potential, for me i wont buy S3 coz first its too much expensive now, there are many interface i find useless here in our country, and my lifestyle wont fit on that phone.

[Q] Why is Galaxy Nexus price discounted so much now?

Hey guys,
Six months ago I bought my first Galaxy Nexus for around $700 outright. Then 3 months later, it got stuck in bootloop which I had never been able to fix it.
Few days ago I bought my second Galaxy Nexus at much discounted price for a brand new phone, at around $400.
What's happening here? Seeing so many people complaining about the phone, does that make the phone a failed one?
Because it is 8 months old?

its still one of the best android phones out especially with that 720p display.
In a few months there will be a nexus successor announced so it only makes sense that the previous model would start dropping price.
True story, I bought a new gpu for my computer, and seven months later it selling for cheaper than what I paid for.
All in all perhaps that's what Google wanted, a price so cheap off contract people would buy it

Somehow I couldn't get it reflashed. The new one has just been flashed from yakjuzs 4.0.2 to yakju 4.0.4.
So is it me or the phone? You better don't remind me of the sad story .
The gnex dropped quicker than normal in price to around $440 because something happened with inventories and/or Google started officially selling so everyone lowered their price. Normally the price doesn't drop quite so low at that point in time but it was I think related to stopping production or something weird I remember. Nothing wrong with the gnex though from that perspective.
Actually I think it related to upcoming sgs3 release?
That's the way it is. When a phone comes out price high few months later price drop tremendously.

Except for the iPhone 4S which is still a ripoff doesn't matter how old the iPhone is they only drop price when the next iPhone comes out.If carriers didn't offer iPhones either free or for 10 bucks a month over 1 or 2 year contracts no one would have them, not many actually get sold outright.

Because sheeple support the price. You can bet that the cost to produce the iPhone has gone down in that time.
Google could continue to gouge people if they wished, but they do not. Apple does not believe in price cuts.
Besides, that same argument can be made for the S2 and the Nexus appeals to a niche market.
Never compare a popular mainstream device to a niche device.

Apple still commands the pricing, even on contracts. At least, that is the case here in the US.
Apple makes the carriers their b*tch. Not saying that is a bad thing. Kind of wish more companies would do that actually.

Yeah, it sucks to be on our end when we bought it brand new first week of release, but hopefully this is a sign to come. Imagine if Google had 4 Nexus devices on the play store ranging from $299 to $499 or even $599. That would be great for Android and it would stick it to the stupid American carriers that keep pushing way over priced plans with subsidized "super phones". I really hope Google continues on the push for cheap unlocked nexus devices :good:
I'm really tempted to pick one up at that price (along with the Nexus Tab down the line), but between the Meizu 4-core and the GS3, it's a tough choice...I love the size/look of the Meizu the best of the three and the power/features are nice (but support for it will basically be dead outside of Meizu themselves), the GS3 undoubtedly will have the best combination of specs and development (but the design is ugly IMO, I hate Touchwiz, and I'd rather use a 7" tablet as a phone than have a 4.8" phone), and the Galaxy Nexus looks nice especially without buttons on the face and will always have the newest/fastest updates (but the specs aren't the best and I don't hear good things about the battery life).
I know this is obviously the GN forum and people don't want to say anything bad about their device...but are there any major problems the device suffers from (or is prone to)? Is the battery life as bad as some say?

For my use... I can easily do 12.5h with 4.5h screen on time... it depends on how you use the device and how you tweak it. Some rom/kernel combos work really nice. Also if I know I'm going to be on a full day + without ability to recharge I'll pre-emptively do things like kill syncing and set to dim brightness and such.
The main complaint I think is the 'banding'/graininess on white backgrounds at low brightness levels, and some purple looking blacks - but both can be tweaked as well (use higher brightness or gamma corrections with some custom kernels).

Usually when u buy a high end device the value holds for a while and doesn't drop nearly as much as the gnex did. For example, the iPhone 4s or unlocked galaxy s 2 have held their values for quite a while. Great comment though, you're a genius.

Usually when u buy a high end device the value holds for a while and doesn't drop nearly as much as the gnex did. For example, the iPhone 4s or unlocked galaxy s 2 have held their values for quite a while. Great comment though, you're a genius.

you should buy a iphone 4s to make yourself feel better about the resale value

Pulled the trigger
If only it had a really good camera like ip4s, I could get this for my wife because $349 is a crazy good deal.
I bought a Galaxy Nexus 6 days ago from the play store. I just called them and they are refunding me the difference between the old price and new price. No arguing, very easy to do, they have a policy that deals with this. Here it is, taken from the email they sent me to start the refund process.
"When we offer a price reduction for an item you’ve purchased from Devices on Google Play, we’ll refund the difference in price if your purchase occurred within 15 days of the price reduction.
To receive a refund for the difference in price you must fill out our Devices on Google Play Price Protection form at...."

It does. Instead of enjoying your phone you're complaining the price dropped too fast. Just deal with it. Lots of people paid extra to have the device early. That's just how it is. I have absolutely no regrets that I bought mine 5 months ago for $550... just how it is.

How long did it take for that email to show up? I was literally watching the stream when UPS delivered my Galaxy Nexus... a gentleman at Google promised to email me information about the refund, but it's been almost 30min

Same here. Waiting on my email too.

Should I buy this or wait?

Hey guys,
My wife currently has the first generation note (i717). It's been having all kinds of problems and we are thinking of getting her a new phone. She wants to get the Note 2. I've heard really good things about it, but I don't want to buy this if the note 3 is going to be coming out soon, you know?
What do you guys think? Also, we are going to be buying it full price and it's still $800, which kinda sucks. Is there a cheaper place to buy it from?

I had the note 1 before and recently switched to the Note 2 (rogers/at&t version). I'm loving it. Everything is so much snappier with pretty much 0 lag. I got my Note 2 for $370 used and thought it was a steal so did it. A slight ding on two corners but with the UAG case i ordered, shouldn't be noticeable. Oh and the stylus is much more comfortable in the hand with the Note 2. The reduction in width also makes it much nicer to hold and use with one hand.
With the note 3 coming in a few months the price for Note 2 is going to keep going down. I can't imagine really needing anything more powerful than the Note 2 for the next 2 years.

That's expensive. I'd say keep an eye on Craigslist. I wouldn't pay more that $400, I got mine for $350. But yeah, really can't imagine a phone better than this, I say go for it! But for $600, just get a new s4...
