Apps and Services broken by Fire OS 5 - Fire TV Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So far:
1. Firestarter
Broken because of ADB issues. But will work if
1. Reboot
2. Set Jumpback-watchdog to 0
3. Disable and then re-enable ADB Debugging in Settings.
4. Repeat 3 after every reboot.

2. Llama
Will no longer convert apps to Kodi launchers. Can still launch Kodi at boot:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2786505&page=93
3. BBC iViewer, News
iViewer launches a web page, which doesn't work. News is incompatible.
4. Only one ADB connection possible causing problems:

I know it is semantics, but as this is a developer preview, I do think it is a bit misleading to list apps as "broken". Perhaps "Apps and Services not compatible with Fire OS 5 Developer Preview" would be more appropriate. I assume this is an FYI posting for anyone feeling daring to install the developer preview.
Seems people already have pitchforks out that Amazon is borking compatibility intentionally with some services. But the developers are just getting their first look at the OS themselves. So nothing is really "broken" until the OS is official and the apps declare compatibility.

It's a heads up to those who can't decide whether to give it a go. It's very normal to have a thread like this.

I am having the following issues.
1. Youtube will not launch
2. Choppy audio in Netflix

Positive add: Since fire os 5, archos player is working!

adbFire 1.30 fixes an issue with root users and busybox. My tests with 5.0 revealed no other issues. Bug reports gladly accepted.

So for all the complaints, I do have to say that I've been watching Netflix for a few hours now and haven't had any of the shuddering/slowness issues I had on the previous versions.

I wonder if my issue could be my setup? I have the Fire into my TV via HDMI then out to my soundbar via digital audio. Netflix plays fine but you will only get about half of every sentence. The half missing is totally silent.

I just upgraded to 5.0.3, hoping I can finally pair my bluetooth mouse. BUT it still doesn't work! Before, I would run settings.apk but that is broken now. In the firetv settings, now there is an option to pair 'other devices' and mice and keyboard are mentioned. BUT when searching for bluetooth devices, the mice still does show up in the list. Grr! Has anyone else been able to pair a mouse?

Installing (purchased) Airplay app onto Fire TV

Hi all
I'm an avid XBMC user who has been using xbmc on a variety of Android TV boxes, these being the Pivos XIOS DS, OUYA and now the Fire TV which I have had imported from the US (to the UK where I live). As you can see, my choice of Android boxes has been influenced only be the Android devices that xbmc actually sponsor, I haven;t tried to use any other Android box other than those enforced by the xbmc org themselves.
In essence I have been looking for an Android TV box that will replace my two sluggish Apple TV2's.
I've had mixed luck with the Pivos and OUYA namely because of the poor remote controls. My family have never really taken to these two boxes and thus we keep reverting to the ATV2's despite the slow performance.
Having seen fire TV I immediately ordered one from the USA, learned how to install XBMC via adb commands and I must say I'm impressed. To the point where I'm almost ready to get rid of all my current TV boxes (including the ATV2's) and replace them all with Fire TVs.
Moving on, XBMC's internal Airplay server does not work with Android devices, this is the one thing stopping me from getting rid of my ATV2's.... I need Airplay!
I have been reading around the XBMC official forum and some other users are in the same boat as me and they have actually managed to install an Airplay server App to the Fire TV, rather than waiting for XBMC to resolve their broken Android Airplay feature. If I could achieve this I'd be happily slinging my ATV2's out of the window! The app that has reportedly been installed (sideloaded) on to the Fire TV is called AirPlay/DLNA Receiver (PRO) which is a paid app.
Actual question:
I have purchased and installed the aforementioned app onto my (rooted) Galaxy S4, I have no intention whatsoever of actually using the app on my S4, I did this SOLELY to extract the app and install on the Fire TV. I have successfully found the APK file using ES File Explorer and copied it to my PC. However when trying to install the APK to the Fire TV using adb command it fails, with error message:
[INSTALL_PARSE_FAILED_NO_CERTIFICATES]
I'm guessing this is because I am trying to install the app onto a device for which it was not purchased through. Can anyone please help me overcome this problems, I'm really now desperate to have the Fire TV replace all of my current TV boxes, and I've spent a lot of time looking for the ideal device for XBMC + AIrplay. It looks like I'm very close to achieving my goal and just need some help from some of the experts on there to overcome the final hurdle (Airplay). I've messaged the guy on the XBMC forum that has claimed to have installed this app on his FIRE TV but he has not replied to me. I can;t really post this question oin the xbmc forums becuase I'm not asking for support for xbmc's Airplay server, I'm asking a question more related to sideloading an app with missing certificate that I've actually paid (albeit on a another device).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Adit - XDA newbie.
I do not know how to fix your certificate error, but a new app released yesterday for the Fire TV claims to do AirPlay. Here is the app.
If that doesn't work and you can't figure out how to fix the certificate issue, you can try installing the Google Play Store onto the Fire TV and see if you can download the app directly.

Many thanks for the reply here. Many apps 'claim' to facilitate Airplay but if I'm going to pay for one I'd rather it be one that has been tested successfully on the Fire TV, and that's the reason why I went for AirPlay/DLNA Receiver (PRO).
Moving on I have the following questions relating to your Google Play Store. I believe one of the prerequisites of installing Google Pay Store is that the Fire TV must be rooted, correct? Whilst I don't have any personal issue with rooting (after all I just rooted my Galaxy S4 earlier today) my concern is that once I root and install the Play Store and sign into it that the following will happen:
- I'll have to pay for the AirPlay/DLNA Receiver (PRO) again?
- Upon a new firmware update the root will be gone and the app will no longer work?

Since AirPlay/DLNA Receiver (PRO) itself does not require root, you would still be able to use the app even if a future update removed root. Your only issue would be if a future update disabled root and you, for whatever reason, needed to factory reset the Fire TV. The reset would remove the app and you wouldn't be able to reinstall it because you could no longer gain root.
@ JJ-KwiK
@ fireTVnews.com
Many thanks again for your suggestions, thanks has been added to you both. I'm reluctant to root the Fire TV to install the Play Store for reasons of sustainability. Exactly as stated if an update removes the root and for any reason a factory reset was required then I'd be stuck. Before I reluctantly embark on the mission to root the Fire TV and take on your suggestions I'd like to be a little cheeky and ask a few more questions to you both or anyone else out there who can answer:
1. Instead of rooting and installing Play store, if I wish to instead install and try the new Airplay app that member 'fireTVnews.com' mentions how would I do this? I appreciate you're thinking this is a ridiculous question but I can't see the link between the amazon site and my Fire TV. Maybe once I purchase the app on Amazon site will automatically push the app to my Fire TV? Also I'm in the Uk where a lot of the content is blocked (because the Fire TV hasn't been released here yet), will this cause an issue?
2. If I have success with the new Airplay app from the amazon site does anyone know if I can get a refund for the Airplay PRO app, because it will never even get used if the other app does work? I don;t know much about this because although I have an S4 it's purchase was recent and I'm still new to the world of Play Store. In fact the Airplay PRO app is the first app that I've ever purchased through the Play store and I'm kinda left feeling a little stung. Fair enough if I was going to use the app but a complete waste if I don't.
3. One thing that would solve all of this quite easily is if there is a way to install the certificates for the Airplay PRO app that I've purchased, then install it onto the Fire TV. I don't want to be breaking any forum rules here but I have paid for the app so if anyone could give me any clues / hints I'd be very grateful. Have done the usual googling but with the amount of confusing info out there I don't fancy doing several all-nighters to learn how to do it myself from scratch.
..
I had some free coins I used for the AiPlay Receiver app. I tried a couple of 30 seconds home video clips from my wife's iphone and they worked fine.
Home made videos from my Android phone don't work. It says 'can't play this video'

1- I'm in Canada, and I'm still able to download and use apps from the firetv store. I just have to change my address to a fictitious US address and the store will allow me to download apps. This doesn't work for prime video's etc... though. When I'm done downloading what I want, I just change my address back to Canada. All this is done on Amazon's website.
2- Google Play only offers refunds to app users for 15 minutes after the app was purchased I believe. So you're probably out of luck there. You could always try emailing the app developer...

Well this is a turn out for the books. I have just purchased the new AirReceiver app from the Amazon website without changing my address, I figured that if it doesn't work I'll demand a refund from Amazon. The Amazon website allowed me to make the purchase without even changing my address. Next I checked on my Fire TV and the app was showing as available to be downloaded and synced, so I did this.... and it works!
Airplay is seems to be working from my ios7 iPad. I haven;t done any exhaustive testing yet and I hope the app auto-starts when the Fire TV does and stays running in the background, rather than having to manually activate the app before airplaying something.
Now the interesting this is, this app looks exactly like 'AirReceiver' by 'felix.long' which is available in the Google Pay Store. In fact I'm certain it's the same app and it definitely hasn't been developed exclusively for Fire TV. This is obvious as the app doesn't even fit on to the screen (neither do most apps which are optimised for mobile phone displays rather than Android TV boxes). Funnily enough, this app was next on my list to try out after the Airplay (PRO) app which I purchased last night, it's a funny old world! Now I just need to email the developer of Airplay (PRO) and see if he will consider giving me a refund. After all, I have actually tested his app on my S4 and whilst Airplay for photos is ok, Airplay for videos from my iPad doesn't even work!
Once again JJ-KwiK and fireTVnews.com thank you both very much for your help. I do have a couple of minor questions tho which you'll probably know the answers to:
1. If this new AirReceiver app is updated, will I automatically be able to install the updated version? Seeing as I've purchased it I would imagine so.
2. Is there any way of getting the app to show properly on the screen? Presumably if Amazon are charging for this app exclusively for Fire TV they should at least have checked that it fits on to the screen. Any novice would be pulling his hair out trying to work out what each of the options are because so much of the text is off the screen. I'm used to this off-the-screen lark with my OUYA and Pivos but even I couldn;t figure out what some of the options say is far too much of the text has disappeared off the screen on the left-hand side. Perhaps there is a way to rectify this on the Fire Tv, which I don;t know about?
3. Lastly, if.... (as of 30 mins ago) I mean WHEN i purchase my next Fire TV, will I have to purchase the app again or can I simply log into the new Fore TV and sync apps again and, in effect get it for free on my 2nd / 3rd Fire TV?
About the app not fitting on the screen, you need to go into the FTV settings-->system-->display-->calibrate display. I had to scale mine to 3%. Now the app fits in the screen perfectly.

Ok thanks, will try this. Adoes this adjustment have any adverse effect on other apps or even the main operating system display? What I mean is when you make this adjustment does it screw up anything else?
I haven't noticed it problems with other apps.

1. Yes, since you download it from Amazon
2. No idea. Use the screen setting calibrate option.
3. All purchase from Amazon store grants access to all your Amazon devices (Kindle, Kindle Fire, Fire TV etc...) The next part is how many Amazon devices do you have right now or you plan to purchase in the future. For Google Play, iOS, Amazon, I think you can install a purchased app up 5 devices, some even more. This varied depend on developer and app. You are best asking the developer, but it is guarantee that you have access up to 5 devices.
Last, I am not sure about your obsession with Airplay. Since the Fire TV allows installation of XBMC, there are tons of option you can use to stream movies, photos, music over to XBMC. When I means options, I mean network protocol such as FTP, SMB, zeroconf which is designed and supported across all platforms. Airplay is an offspring of iOS system design mostly to work within the iOS ecosystem. The reason why it might not work well with Android apps or other platform is because it is not Apple's intention to bring it to other platforms. It is just because too many people have iOS devices that other 3rd parties try to bring it to other platform, albeit bugs and problems sometimes.

I had this exact problem with the same app. If you root your device, you can enable installing from unknown sources. From there you can just push the apk to your fire tv, and install it manually, bypassing the certificate error. This method worked for me, however after using the app for a few minutes, you will get a pop up saying that the app was not purchased on the device and it stops working. As a last resort, I emailed the creator of the app, and within 24 hours, he was able to activate the app using your MAC address. You just have to show him proof of purchase. Of course this was before I got the google play store installed on the FTV, which would have saved me a lot of time.
@z31fanatic - Thanks, the video calibration tool worked a treat 2% for me. Now all apps show properly on the screen. I've had to stretch XBMC calibration out a bit as a result but that's fine. Thanks very much to you, thanks added.
@vi6s - Thanks for the replies, good to know the app will be auto updated if and when the original developer releases an update. I reckon I'll need to use the app on around 4-5 devices eventually, so a 5 device limit should do me just about ok.
Regarding Airplay, there isn't an obsession, just a need for non tech-savvy people in the home (wife and kids) to be easily able to beam photos and home-made videos to the big screen. Airplay hands down the easiest way to to do this I'm sure you'd agree.
@Hrodriguez77 - It is excellent that you had the idea to contact the developer in this way. I did the same but sadly just to request a refund. I didn't think the developer would be interested in what I was trying to achieve (extracting his file to use on another device). However it seems the developer is good guy (and indeed this is the case as he has refunded me). Once question though, how is your video streaming working? Meaning videos that you've shot on your phone / tablet, if you beam those videos to the Fire TV how does it cope?
Install blackmart.apk and you can get those apps no cost. Haven't tried it yet on the fire tv but it works on everything else no problem.

Dear all,
I am the developer of Airplay/DLNA receiver. I am sorry to see the terrible experience of side loading our app on your Fire TV.I have submitted my app to Amazon app store now. It is still under review. Several days will be gone before you can see it on Amazon app store. Before that I will provide a simpler way to try our app for 3 days.
You can download our latest apk from here: h t t p://download.waxrain.com/AirPlayer_Signed_PRO/AirPin_PRO.apk
and you can directly install it on your Fire TV .
You can try it for 3 days. 3 days later it will pop out the message of "unauthorized".
If you want to purchase it, you can find an android phone to purchase our app from Google Play ,and tell us the order number and the mac address of your fire TV(which can be found in the "about the app" part of setting in our apk)to authorize. (email: [email protected]) Or you can purchase it on Amazon app store in the future.
I am new on the forum, the real link format is not supported to paste. Please adjust by yourselves. Sorry.

XBMC/SPMC/Kodi crashes on Amazon FTV !!! ( Solved )

I have tried Xbmc Gotham, Spmc and Kodi alpha on Amazon Fire TV.
But every time i found the same problem of crashing, i just wonder is it really a problem or just something wrong with my AFTV ?. It happens very often so i can not conclude that when exactly it crashes. Even i have not rooted my device. and nothing is installed except XBMC.
Also somebody would like to answer is there any way to update librtmp without root ?
Any suggestions would be appreciated !

Have you tried running without addons installed? Try only one installed at a single time to root out the cause. I only have Icefilms on two devices and have yet to experience a crash.
Set decoding method to "Hardware accelerated", fixed crashing for me.

Thanks all for resonses
Now the working/solution part
This solution will ONLY solve problem for those who are using Live tv, (at-least as I do). Both, SPMC and official XBMC crashed on Live tv (or any Live Stream addson) but not when playback from local contents. Now my fire tv runs quit smoothly with no crashed issues.
These are the following steps which needs to be done :
1. Turn off both filters (mediacodec and libstagefright) under hardware acceleration.
(goto System->Settings->Video->Acceleration>disable both filters MediaCodec and Libstagefright)
2. Change hardware acceleration to software. (when there is no filter activated it will automatically work as software, so basically Decoding method can be leave as Hardware accelerated as well)
3. Enable 'Allow multi thread software decoding' (optional if you changed DecMtd to Sofwre)
For those user who are not using LIVE TV but they have the same problem while using any other addson or streaming media from local server.
ONLY turning off Mediacodec could stabilize the system. Also bare in mind everything works fine with software rendering but sometimes cpu can be exhausted so try to put the device in open area where air can easily circulate, haven't notice so much heat but its better to be prepare.
With Mediacodec disabled, it also notices that XBMC runs little slower while watching movies and for example navigating the menus. That could also be cachemembuffersize, if experiences the lagging issue increase the cachemembuffersize.
Now i simply request to our respected developers to make some adjustments/fix to the media library so it can smoothly support Fire TV hardware.
Thanks all folks for helping each other.

Changing these settings worked for me too! Only on Live Tv my Premium channels would freeze and just keep playing audio(DIY, Lifetime, History, Animal Planet, Fox News, All HBO, SHOWTIME etc...) BUT now the problem is the picture has a lag to it, without he accelerations enabled they lag, I am using the new fire tv 2015, any other ideas to fix this or is Amazon Fire Tv just no good for Kodi? I will say I tried Kodi 14.2, 15.2, 16, and I have a paid subscription for iptv, my same settings work perfect on my windows machine.
Thanks

[Q] Live TV and Kodi via TVHeadEnd

Hello
When I use the Live TV via Kodi, as soon as I change the channel, it crash
Since logs are better than randoms word, here the full log of kodi, where I simply launched Kodi 14 and started streaming TV (to make sure it's as clean as possible) : http://pastebin.com/z1Ly3zxL
Anyone has an idea to fix that?
Thanks
Try to use different PVR client or switch to SPMC. Works there for me.
Try the hts addon I posted on the kodi forums...

Two questions, please:
1) Did you find a resolution?
2) What are you using for a tuner?

Unfortunately, nope, I don't watch TV that much so it's not really critical for me, but it still bugging me.
I'm using that as tuner : http://avertv.avermedia.com/Product/ProductDetail.aspx?Id=519 - version A835.

It work perfectly under linux, I use TVHeadend without problem anywhere else, but on the FireTV, it crash if I change the channel (Let say that I'm watching the 1st channel, and want to change to the second, well, then, Kodi crash)

Now I feel very bad. I swear I just read about a solution for that. From feeble memory, it was in TVHeadend - not in Kodi.

It work, but it's not really usable as a solution, CPU get overloaded and video drop frames: http://i.imgur.com/qYRBVTd.jpg , however it would indicate a problem with the hardware video decoder, in that case, out of luck for me, no chance of fixing it without at least having root.

Well, damn.
If it's any comfort, we may be in this together. I ordered a Hauppauge 1191 WinTV-HVR-950Q today. But at least I know if it doesn't work with the Fire, it will work on my Pi.

It's a boring but not critical issue, the TV is working fine as long as you don't change channel. beside, it might still be fixable by adding a delay to the channel switch. I know TVHeadEnd is a bit special (I also had issue on the Pi (RPi 1 B 256MB Ram) that I needed a proxy to fix.)
Does the CPU get overloaded if you just turn off libstagefright? What doesn't work if you do? (I don't even know what it does.)

I've tried turning off libstagefright on my FireTVStick and it seems to work most of the time - occasionally the audio and picture go out of sync on the BBC HD channels* and quick channel change fixes it for a while. Alas, as with Kodi on my Nexus 7 and Z1 Compact Kodi just exits on it's own occasionally (presumably memory management). With stagefright on the picture was awful (3-4 fps). This is with TVHeadend connected to a DVB-S2 Sat>IP Tuner (via HomePlugs), a DVB-T2 USB tuner and 2xDVB-T USB tuners.
I have to point out that I've used it massively as it's connected to the same TV as my media centre PC (was more interested in seeing if the stick would be a viable alternative for the Raspberry Pi in the kitchen), and well the Fire TV Stick has only been available for two days!
* Not seen this on BBC ONE East Midlands SD or any other SD channel, or indeed Channel 4 HD. The BBC HD channels are rather high bit rate and didn't work properly on my Pi before over-clocking that so might be hitting the limits of what is possible here too.

Great, can't wait. If it works out. Maybe you can make a vid of it. Your trying out a non-rooted FireTV Stick 4K right ?
So far my experience has been horrible.
1) unbox new 4k stick
2) enable untrusted sources in developer settings
3) install downloader from amazon app store
4) search and install latest xbox streaming apk from apkmirror by searching in downloader
5) app runs fine except everything is built for touch so basically almost nothing works
6) sometimes I've been able to keep clicking buttons until a game starts but it's very slow and input lag of 10+ seconds
7) I have 1gb down internet

The APK version on APKMirror is old. Let me know if u need me to get the latest from Google Play Store for you.
Make sure you have a Bluetooth mouse or Mouse simulator since the current beta is for touch devices.
Also try to already have the XBox Bluetooth remote connected in case u can use that for navigation in the App before starting it.
PM if you need help with any of those APK's.
Please continue testing it for us. Thanks again.
I had my xbox controller paired, I've installed Mouse Toggle 1.11 and that fixes my touch issues. I'm still having bad lag but xbox services just went down so maybe it related. I will pull latest from play store in bluestacks and install with adbLink and report back.

I would get a internet speed app from Amazone or GooglePlay to check ur internet speed on the actual FTV Stick too.
And "Background Apps & Process List" from the Fire TV App store to make sure you manually close any apps not needed. Like Downloader, etc.
Was trying to PM you for the apk's I can't figure out how to use bluestacks to download them.

no problem, will link u shortly.
- Check your PM's.
Also make sure u are using the extender cable that came with your FIreTV Stick. That small separation from the TV from that cable usually helps with any signal blockage that being directly on the back or side of the TV might cause.
-- Also make sure you are on 5Ghz instead of 2.4Ghz Wifi for best results.
--- Forza & Gears of War 5 are some of the best games to test too.
In case anybody else wants to join in on the testing.
XCloud App:

Let us know how it goes.
I tried with the apk you supplied same result. FYI, the sound and the controller actions match, it's the video that lags way behind like 10-30 seconds. Also, I just received my Stadia and play on the same wireless network in the same exact location as the Fire TV and it is flawless, feels like no lag.
I've tried several games on the Firestick including forza and gears with no luck.
I am using the hdmi extension as well.
I'm on 5GHz wifi.

I just pulled out my old Google Nexus Player (Android TV) and upgraded it to the latest 8.0.0 (OPR2.170623.027, Nov 2017) firmware. Then sideloaded the Xbox Streaming and WOW it works great. Don't need touch input the controller works great and lag is only about 500 ms, wish it was a little better but it's pretty awesome. I tried several different games and they all worked great. Same wifi and location as the Fire Stick 4K that isn't working.
https://developers.google.com/android/ota#fugu
I just got my ethernet adapter in, same result, terrible lag, 10-30 seconds.
Right, I am thinking not just the XCloud app will need an update. But the FireTV Stick FW itself too.
Will send u links to future App updates just to test in the future. Maybe they can fix some of it app side.
Best xCloud experience yet is on my Oculus Quest, I just sideloaded the app and it works perfectly. This is a really sick combination.
Just sideloaded it on my Fire Table 10 HD 8th generation and it works great!!
anyone else having problems installing the app?
I know this thread is a few months old but thought I'd contribute and say the lag thing still exists, with the 4K firestick with 10 to 30 seconds for input from the controller to register on the screen.
Lag still exist unfortunately. There is really nothing stopping xcloud to run on 4k stick. Microsoft is louzy at coding.

Fire TV Cube 3rd gen Dolby Atmos passthough com0pletely broken using Maven's Kodi-Builds

Basically subjects says it all.
I just bought a Cube 3rd ed. but using Maven builds with my C9 TV and passthough enabled I experience continue desync and crashes. Basically unusable (I sadly went back to my 4k Max).
Everything works perfect on my 4k and 4k Max.
Am I doing anything wrong (completely newbie with HD audio)?
Thanks.
Pino.
I remember seeing that you have to switch FireOS sound settings from best available to DD+, to get DD+ and DD to work in Kodi. It's definitely inconvenient.

Thanks a lot,
I tried all the available options but audio stull stutters and crashes.
As it is now any DA content is unwatchable.
Very disappointing.
Thanks God I still have my 4K Max but it bothers me I spent all that money to have a paperweight.
Well I guess I'll wait.

Just an FYI if you are using the FireTV build: not specific to the 3rd gen. Cube, but Maven has the "FireTV" build & the "Android 32-bit" build, and from my reading of the Kodinerds forum it seemed like it was best to use the Android build with FireTV devices starting back sometime last year, that the Android builds had all the fixes and the FireTV build was basically the same as Kodi nightly builds.
Are you good with using ADB? Can you report the printed output for these 2 ADB shell commands:
settings get global encoded_surround_output
settings get global encoded_surround_output_enabled_formats
I don't have the 3rd gen. Cube, only have the 2nd gen., but if the main Settings stay the same, then:
encoded_surround_output=0 , if using BEST_AVAILABLE sound setting option
encoded_surround_output=1 , if using PCM sound setting option
encoded_surround_output=2, if using DOLBY_DIGITAL_PLUS sound setting option
And I can take a guess that the second command "encoded_surround_output_enabled_formats" will return <null>. So input this:
settings put global encoded_surround_output_enabled_formats "5,6,7,8,13,14,17,18,19"
This ENCODED_SURROUND setting is what lets Kodi query what Android's java coding can passthrough for audio, the different numbers being the most common SurroundSound audio codecs; for example "18" & "19" are for DolbyAtmos lossy & lossless, and "14" is for TrueHD.

Thanks a lot,
The "FireTV" build is exactly the one I'm using on all my devices right now. The kodinerds Maven thread grew too big and is mostly in german to read all the updates so I didnt know that.
As soon as I return home I'll test the Android build and report.
Thanks again for this precious advice.

Kodi Settings on EXPERT mode? With Passthrough on in Kodi you should be able to turn on all the options for passthrough ON, DolbyDigital_PLUS and Dolby_TrueHD being the two that need to be on for DolbyATMOS lossy and lossless formats to be available for passthrough. If TrueHD is still not showing maybe have to toggle between the two Passthrough-Output-Device options AudioTrack(IEC) or AudioTrack(RAW).
Sidenote, my primary TV has a buggy ARC/CEC implementation and sometimes I have to flip CEC on-and-off to allow Atmos passthrough, which even though my Cube is connected directly to my AVR it will stop some apps from streaming Atmos.

Yeah, I'm officially an idiot. I restored a backup from my 4k Max but it usually doesnt restore expert mode and I totally forgot to do that on my own. BTW I tested using expert mode and enabling the same exact options I have on my working 4k Max but still stutters and crashes, also switchng IEC mode.
Not sure about the CEC options. Point is I've never had any issues on the same TV with the same exacts settings on my 4K and 4k Max so I guess it's a Cube issue (or again some nonsense I'm still doing).
Thanks again for advices
Pino.
