Anyway to get rid of "AT&T" in the top left of the status bar? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note5

This is pretty annoying

just install Internet speed meter app, it'll be more useful

Any app that shows a persistent notification will bump the ATT text off the screen. You are simply replacing ATT with another icon. ATT will show during a reboot, but once the app starts it will bump the text. For me it's the profile manager called "phoneweaver".
If you want to remove ATT and have no other icon / data, that's another kettle o fish that requires more in-depth rom customization - beyond my pay grade.

goodluck rooting this phone then

Nova can do it.

GSAM battery widget has an option for a noto bar battery (defaults far left). This hides the logo But you get an extra countdown on power.

Nova can hide the notification bar under "Look and Feel" in settings, but AT&T is still on it when viewable.

How, without root / flash?
I use Notification Toggle: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.j4velin.notificationToggle
I think it's the best one because of its customization options and the fact that I can download stock ICS icons for it. Plus, you can add apps (free, included in app) and shortcuts ($0.99 add-on). Like I have the shortcut for my AudioManager Pro Profile list in there and an icon that runs the Lockscreen app (saves pressing the power button to shut the screen off).
I'm not rooted. The only useful thing root would give me is the ability to directly toggle GPS rather than having to go to the settings page, but considering I almost always leave GPS on, I don't really care about that.

+ 1 for that......im using too and it is awesome.....
elixir2 does this also...
I also prefer Notification Toggle over Widgetsoid. Stock icons and the ability to always have it at the top of the notification screen. My only complaint is that it's a little laggy when tapping thru the brightness settings.

Much easier to install a custom rom than an app right? lol
Anyway, +1 for Notification Toggle. I was using Extended Controls for it but Notification Toggle is much better since it stays on top of other notifications and it also replaces the Battery Widget that I was using to display the battery % in the bar.
so have any of these been updated so that i don't have a constant icon running in my notification bar? i don't know why but that's a dealbreaker for me.
btw, i'm not rooting yet until CM9. temporary solutions without the annoying notification icon?
Thanks OP
Forgot about widgetsoid and how awesome it is. Between this and Nova launcher gestures I now have the perfect setup for my home screen because of this.
Swipe up - brings up the app drawer
Swipe down - brings down the notifications
Home button press while on the homescreen - brings up voice search
Any idea how to change the colour of the battery icon in the status bar using the Notification Toggle app? I want to change it to ics blue.

+1 on this. What's worse is they'll give the option for no icon, but then it just leave a blank spot in the notification bar.............
That's a limitation of Android, so until Google offers a better way, that's how it has to be.

[REQUEST] Stock notification bar- No scrolling

I would like to ask if any forum members have the knowledge or ability to modify the current set of toggles in the notifications bar so that they do not scroll when you first pull down the bar. It may be a minor annoyance, but the precious few seconds i waste by clicking on mobile data whilst waiting for it to scroll across to Wi-Fi is a killer

How about just change the toggles order? The scroll is actually kind of cool to me.
You can follow guide here to change the toggles order. Or you can just flash my theme, I do got one theme which is same stock look, just only change the order.
Unfortunately I don't want to just rearrange the icons and would like to stop the scrolling animation all together.
(Bump)
If you flash a 15 Toggle mod it will disable the automatic scrolling of the notification items.
If you are on a deodexed LF6, here are two options for you:
Stock look
Darker look

In on omega 6.0 based on LF2 will it still work? Or are they that specific to version ?
You know what, I find the same thing annoying. Would love to disable it as well.
I'm running a rooted stock. Don't wanna change the order, I like the look of the stock toggles, so not really interested in changing them. Just want the damned scrolling to stop!!!
Here i thought I was going to be the only one annoyed by this. Would definitely love a way to just get it to load up at the first 5 without having to animate the little scrollback
This scrolling is the first thing i noticed and it annoyed me quite a bit. Keep hitting the wrong button while trying to enable Wifi as used to the quick press on the S2.
Does anyone know of a fix for this?
If not, I think there's a gap for an app!

if you're really bothered and this is a real issue for you - Omega 7.1 does NOT scroll the toggles when pulling down the notification bar.

Is the flashlight app really using this much data

You could also use AppOps and cancel some of the permissions, that the program has, but personally I would consider it a malware and delete it ASAP altogether. It really makes me wonder what did they use so much data for, it couldn't be all advertisement?
Idk what was going on I left the house with the battery topped off.. Reboot and topped off to make sure it was really 100 and got to work and I was already at 94 % then 5 hrs later 50% which by then it should have been only 80-70% then I just started looking thru my settings and saw that, I wouldn't have thought that was with ads and I wouldn't have thought a flash would need anything past 0.1mb to use.. Just blew my mind

There is a build in Widget for the light.
Hold your finger on the empty home screen, tap on Apps and Widgets, the tap on Widgets and look for it.
It is called Assistive Light.
Drag it to your screen and you have the flash light any time you need it by tapping it on or off. :good:

Works great, thanks.
I think I read something in the news, was it GSMArena?, about Flashlight I believe, that it was requesting permissions for things totally unrelated to the operation of the program, like contacts etc, that's when I downloaded AppOpp and started using it, even just seeing what permissions some of those programs request makes you wonder, what are doing behind the door. That's why I don't like Android that much, not easy to even see where the program is located.
I read a flashlight app has "backdoor".
Just add Assistant Light widget and call it a day.

Specifically, the app called Brightest Flashlight Free didn't have a backdoor, but rather was giving out user location along with a unique id for each device.
The Federal Trade Commission on Thursday issued its first enforcement action related to location-based technology, reaching a settlement with the maker of Brightest Flashlight Free for allegedly hiding the fact that it sold information about the location of its users and the unique string of numbers assigned to a device.

I also use the "Assistive Light" widget. Useful to have a light when in the dark.
But that still doesn't explain 800 odd MB of data used, as stated in OP post unless the program crashed and was sending garbage in the loop, or the info itself was incorrect, but battery usage would suggest something was going on. It could have been browser cache history, for all we know.

Great find! And they say the edge isn't very functional.. lol
Thanks! This adds much functionality to the opposite edge and enables both sides to be utilized. I'll be curios to see what the battery consumption (if any) is.
I just downloaded and am going to give it a try, thanks.
I don't want to jump the post but I think since its in the same vein those playing with this sort of thing might want to give Swipepad a spin around the block. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.conduction.swipepad.android You have to buy into a number of different add on apps to get full functionality and I think the buy in is too steep for what you get but if the stock functions work for you it can be a nice add. Right now I have it set up as a grid of work contacts and it functions well in that use.
Edit... Ok, fiddled with the app, totally dig it. If the guy keeps going with it he has a winner.
It just needs more functionality otherwise it is the best i could have found. Thanks to the app developer
Great find, been looking for something similar to when I had my note edge. Started to live by the edge... This brings me that much close to it. Wish we could get/extract a working apk from the note edge. I tried to take the sidepanel.apk but I didn't take... Any thoughts?

[Edge Feeds] Many battery and system feeds

Having a S6 Edge since its launch I decided to take advantage of the edge screen with all the existing notification packs I developed for my apps (3C Toolbox and co).
This allows displaying all kind of battery and system information on the edge screen optionally with a graph, including battery mA, mV, %, temperature, CPU temperature, load, frequency as well as memory and network loads.
1- Download the main app
To take advantage of those, you will need to install one of the following apps:
- 3C Toolbox to display any information
- System Tuner to display only system information
- Battery Monitor Widget to display battery information
https://play.google.com/store/apps/developer?id=3c
2- Download individual packs
Then, you will have to download the individual pack (from app settings, notifications, notifications packs).
3- Activate individual packs
Simply go to Samsung edge screen feed configuration and enable the desired feed.
4 - Configure packs to your liking
Each pack can be configured to display a graph or not, graphic colors and its background are configurable as well.
Some system packs allows settings special alert too based on thresholds.
You can also choose whether to show the information in the notification area, with or without the icon in the status bar, or only in the edge screen.
You can find attached a few samples of how it will look like.
If you have special queries or any issues, please let me know here.
Awesome!!!
Looks very cool, just bought the 3c toolbox app, so many configurations(Which is great)
Whenever i check the "Only edge-screen feed" checkbox it's only applied for that 1 notification, i think it'd be better if it was applied to the same button under all notifications.

Thanks for your support much appreciated.
That's a little tricky as packs do not share their settings.
However, if you have received udpate 1.3.5 of the toolbox, you can simply go to the edge screen feeds configuration and add the feeds there. If the selected feeds are not in the toolbox config, those will be directly added as 'feed-only', which avoids having to select that particular option.

I see now that i wrote that poorly. I meant the checkbox that comes up after i check "Only edge-screeen feed".
The checkbox that explains "Don't forget to enable feed in Samsung edge screen configuration". When i check "Do not ask again", it only remember not to ask for this specific notification, whereas it would be better if it didn't explain when you check "Only edge-screen feed" for all packages. But it's no big deal just a very minor inconvenience, and would be avoided with the method you explained. great application, works very well!

All packs have been updated to position the text closer to the actual edge of the screen. You can update them from the download section, already installed packs will have a circle arrow you can tap to update them.
