[Q] How to Enable NTFS support for SD Card on Windows 10 Mobile? - Windows 10 Mobile

We all know that since Microsoft's transition from CE Kernel to NT Kernel on Windows Phone 8, they started to support NTFS file system on C: while SD Card still doesn't have that support by default....
I was just wondering if we can enable NTFS support on Windows 10 Mobile? If we got NTFS, we can do some cool tricks like mklink D:\Android to C:\Data\.....................\Android on Windows 10 Mobile :3
So any ideas? :3

I don't think there's a open API (or even private) to format a partition.
The only way would be to change the way the system handle SD Card, to format to NTFS. And I think that would be VERY hard.
The easy way: Just format the SD Card on a computer.

I don't need formatting it to NTFS with my Phone, what I am looking for is NTFS support on SD Card, because it's a fact that C: on Windows Phone was using NTFS. If we got NTFS on sdcard, tricks like mklink will be possible (and darn helpful :3 XD ). Formatted my SD Card to NTFS earlier thou, when I plugged it back to my Lumia, it says it doesn't support the file system..... :/

You are correct. SD Card support on Windows 10 is only FAT32 and exFAT. No NTFS support for SD Card.

Micro-SD on NTFS ?

I do have a question (a dumb question some might say) about the micro-sd support on TP2. Can the TP2 support NTFS formatted micro-sd ?
Sorry,
It will not be able to read NTFS formatted SD card.
John
You might want to take a look at the exFAT update for Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/955704
It won't read exFAT either.

Thanks for the heads up.
I haven't tried exFAT on my microSD card yet (it isn't big enough to warrant its use) but it works very well with the hard drive on my digital broadcast decoder/recorder

[Q] NTFS SD Card?

Is it possible to make Xperia ion available to support NTFS ext_card (the SD Card)?
I want to see put some files more than 4GB in my SD card, but ion only support FAT32.
ntfs is supported only in windows
i think you could try to format it in ext2/3/4 file system format
really easy on linux, a bit more complex on windows, but you just need the right software
What size is the sd card? If it's a 4Gb are you wanting to compress it? I use a 16Gb card without issues.

My fault.
He wants to have a file size larger than 4Gb.
Sorry I have no help then.
Edit: just googled it. Ext4 partition sounds like best fix. Just have to find a good guide. Most Google results were asking why it didn't work

how do i know which sd card do i have?

i want to use this app:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1889550 but i see it dosent work on exfat and i dont know how to know if i have exfat or fat32 please help ..
I'm using directory bind (latest version) on exfat and it works fine for me. You can just put the card in your computer and go to its propertes, it will tell you which format it is on.
64GB micro sd cards usually come with exfat format out of the box. 32GB usually FAT32
i think most sdcards are fat32 by default--may be wrong--but you can research phone specs or Google sdcard specs for n2.
Not aware any card comes with exfat--if you are original owner it should be fat32
you can also use partition programs like gparted or sdformatter that should list the sdcard and say how it is formatted--
either way backup sdcard first and even phone

[Q] ntfs formating

I'm after any advice or guides please. I want to change my 64gb sd card from exfat to ntfs, I am using directory bind and have a file over 4gb so fat32 is out of the question. If I back up my sd card to my laptop then format it ntfs can I then just restore it and use Paragon? or is it a bit more complicated than that. My main concern is making sure directory bind still works. As I said any advice or guides would be greatly appreciated

I'm not 100% sure ntfs works on the android but if it does then take the card out and put it in a card reader and format the card like a USB thumb drive. Google thumb drive ntfs formatting, there would be allot more guides on that.
I think paragon mounts ntfs on boot I just haven't tried it yet. There is a patch that works on aosp based roms but not tw for exfat on fat32 based kernels which is why I was thinking ntfs

I have paragon installed on my phone and I'm using a ntfs formated card, so I believe u won't face any issues.
From the middle of nowhere to the center of everywhere!!
Is paragon require any additional kernel? Is it work with CWM recovery?

ExFAT support for otg.

Can NTFS formatted drives be supported on nexus 7 from otg?
When I insert it says damaged drive, need to format.
Need help.
Yes, I use a 64gb SD card formatted in exFAT using Paragon to set SELinux to permissive.
Mines 1 TB hard disk formatted with NTFS don't work.
Any way to do NTFS??
Sorry question was wrongly posted,I actually wanted to try NTFS.
I just told you, download Paragon.
