Dynamic contrast function.
Turn off auto brightness and it should go away.
No way to have auto backlight without dynamic contrast on this tab sadly

Auto brightness on this tablet is extremely aggresive. And because the screen is bright enough (max brightness stings my eyes even at daytime), I usually turn off Auto and put the brightness at about 15%.

Turn off Auto Brightness, and at Smart Screen, turn on Smart Stay, the front camera will detect your movement to keep the screen ON.

The weirdest multitouch bug example ever

So we're all aware of the multitouch bug, where the lower-right corner (in landscape) becomes unresponsive. It's clearly a software issue, but I found the strangest way to provoke it.

If I jump from barrel to barrel without touching the toxic ooze, multitouch continues to work just fine. If I fall in the toxic ooze, the bug appears. That is, I can't hit A or B while moving the joystick. I click the screen off and back on and it's fine, but if I fall in the ooze again, the bug reappears instantly. As long as I stay on the barrels, multitouch continues to work fine.
I tried it several times, playing with save states to make sure it wasn't just me. It holds true every single time. I even quit the emulator and re-opened it, and somehow, this weird little quirk in the game still affects the multitouch of the device.
PS: Yes, I've gotten this far through on-screen controls. I just got to Click Clock Wood
turn the screen off and back on, it will be gone.

You didn't read my post at all...
it's interesting you can invoke it at will. What emulator/game are you using?

[Q] Unreachable area - touch screen cut off point?

I use LMT as I hide soft keys I noticed it's very difficult to activate the LMT piecontrol when in landscape mode.
This is the lowest I can go on my screen before the screen no longer registers any touch (and is most likely the reason why LMT piecontrol does not pop up when I keep trying).

Clearly shows there is a unreachable band which the phone does not register me touching.
Anyone else have this issue or have I got a defected device?
Anyone?

There is a well documented with multi-touch on original factory roms where parts of the screen would fail to detect when doing multi-touch. I believe this is fixed in 4.0.4. If you're willing, try flashing to 4.0.4 to see if the problem is fixed for you. Otherwise, I'd suggest exchanging.

This is not a multi touch issue. This is a simple single touch issue where the screen seems to 'end short'
Could some others test if they can reach the very bottom of the screen when the softkeys are hidden?

Seems to be working better now with AOKP B27. Still a bit of a hit and miss though, I think it may have something to do with the curvature of the screen or maybe my finger is deformed.

So The Display Is Less Accurate Now? WTF!

I have been reading all the Note 7 reviews, and now have come to the conclusion that the display on the Note 7 is worse than of the Note 5, Note 4 and S7 phones, in terms of colour accuracy I mean! I mean why the heck Samsung had to do that? Or I am the only one missing something here? The temp is over 7000K, DeltaE Avg. is now more than twice than of the Note 5, and three times than on the S7 ! One of the main reasons I (and many others I am sure) use a Samsung is because of the colour accurate display! Now if they take that, and it seems like deliberately then what's the freaking point? I was thinking about getting the phone, now I am torn! I still don't get it though!

You didn't copy the full link, thus it is broken. Here's the link:

I have always used galaxy devices on Cinema mode, I am now on Adaptive mode.
The sole point of this topic was about colour accuracy! Those who use Adaptive mode and stuffs use the most saturated settings anyway, you should only care if you use the Basic mode! Of course its the best display, that is all things considered, lower power draw, maximum and minimum brightness level etc., but look the colour accuracy part, even on the DisplayMate review it has gone to Very Good from Note 5's Excellent!

Back & esp. the Recent Apps button, not as bright as advertised. Should I worry?

I discovered something on my phone. The Back & most esp. the recent App Button is not as bright as I thought, and compared with the pictures I have seen on the internet. Should I worry about this? So far it doesn't affect their main function, just the brightness is what I am concerned right now.
Good question. My wife's (top) aren't as bright as mine (bottom). Screen brightness doesn't affect them; I wonder if anything does.
I think buttons light intensity is somehow related to screen bright. If you have your phone configured to adjust bright according to level of light please put your phone near a lamp and you'll see that buttons will be brighter after some seconds.
My buttons are super bright and both equal in luminescence. They do change with ambient brightness, I keep the display on auto perhaps they get locked in the current state when switching over to manual brightness.
Ah! I figured something out: are you using GravityBox?
I was able to change the intensity of my navbar buttons reliably:
10 Enable "Always on" in Android settings--buttons are dim
20 Enable "Always on" in GravityBox--buttons are bright
30 Set to "Default" in GravityBox--no change
40 Set to "Auto off" in Android Settings--buttons off
50 GOTO 10
Button brightness changes with ambient lighting and if direct light is shone directly on it or not.
Ah! Yes they do...takes a few seconds to change but it does.
Toggling the GravityBox setting just resets the last state.

Screen off issue after replacing cracked screen

Hi Folks, looking for some help after I just about managed to replace a cracked screen & frame (I fell on top of my phone during a mountain bike descent into Glen Doll, Scotland as an aside!).
After painstakingly taking the cover, mid-frame, battery, motherboard etc out and putting them back together, I thought it was a minor miracle the phone worked again. The only issue I am having is that the screen switches off and stays off while making any calls, no matter whether I hold the phone to my ear or in front of my face.
Is this a proximity sensor issue? If so where exactly is it located and how can I check whether it's either damaged or not properly connected? Thanks in advance for any help
Sounds like it, Does you screen auto brightness work?
Its the little red sensor just under the top speaker on the right.
Nope, auto brightness isn't working either.
Do you know whether the sensor is soldered on or whether it can just be removed & replaced? The sensor seems to be in place but guessing it's not properly connected

I had the same problem as you and I think you also forgot to put the cover of proximity/light sensor.

Exactly the same problem on mine. Sadly threw away the part. Does anyone know the partnumber of this or where to buy it in Europe?
