Going back to stock - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S6

Ok guys, so far there have been some ROM improvements but no real aosp roms for our variant. I knew I should have went gsm instead. So I'm going to drop by tmobile tomorrow and see what they can do about putting me into a LG G4. I wish Bliss would release something for our variant.

I tried the g4 and traded it in after 7 days. It was not the same caliber phone as the s6. The one i had was plagued with the unresponsive touch screen. There is a topic about it here on xda among the g4 catagories. Just a warning or heads up from my experience. Good luck.

Yea I had one for a few weeks and a dam sprint software bug kept making me lose wifi every week. I went through 2 replacements and they gave me this 64gb S6. I heard they fixed the software bug and now I want the g4 back. I may go for the note 5 idk. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks guys!

LS980 4.4 update thread ZVC is here

Figured i would start this thread seeing as the Verizon has its own now. This way all of the sprint rumors, speculation and or whatever involving the 4.4 update can be put here. This way we are not digging through so many pages to find a few that relate to the sprint variant.
It's weird, Sprint is usually super quick at updates, if not first. Oh well, I think it will be soon, I can feel it.

First of all thanks for starting this second if any one intetested i read an article on Tuesday see link http://www.gottabemobile.com/2014/03/04/lg-g2-android-4-4-update-expect/ the writer forgot to mention sprint and got so flamed he had to edit it and add us in read artical then see the comments at end
sent from my lg-ls980 there are many like it but this one is mine
From the same site. I saw this also reported on a couple other sites too but don't have the links. I'm betting Sprint is going to hold it but have no clue why. Maybe to push GS5 sales, but I have no clue why someone would want that phone.

I'd say until Flex has 4.4 on Sprint you can forget about it.

Theres no difference. Other than display

If I have root and have uninstalled a few system apps, can I take the OTA when it comes out?
Dont think so heard there were major differences

Considering they are just now rolling in. My buddy bought one this week and the sales guys was pressing him and another guy hard to buy that phone. The whole idea around note competition to. I'm just saying if I was head of LG I'd put 4.4 on my newest model first only because your newest version is sadly running 4.2.2

LG has already given KK to Sprint. They've been testing it for a while now. It's up to them to finalize and Ok it now. The Flex has been out on Sprint, T-Mobile, and AT&T for a month and 2 of them have updated the G2.

In LG's defense, when KitKat released in November, some variant's of the m7(HTC One) were still on 4.1.2. LG would have been stupid to update 4.3, it would have been a flagrant waste of money. LG knew in August of the existence of Kitkat(because PDK, and Nexus 5), so they just focused on delivering KitKat, and skipping 4.3. Hell, the Note 10.1 is skipping 4.2 AND 4.3, and going straight to KitKat.

I would have but at the time couldnt shell out the cash for the 32gb. 16 just isnt enough for me and honestly 32 sometimes becomes pretty close to cutting it.

from what i am seeing and hearing, No. you will have to .tot back to stock in order to take ota. or if those apps were backed up in titanium you may be able to restore them and take ota. Not sure on the last one though.
I suspect part of wait for 4.4 is that Sprint put a lot of resources into the 4.2 Spark Update when they would have been otherwise testing KK, other carriers were able to get more QA time on the new release and Sprint is playing catchup. (Personally, I wish they'd waited for KK to do Spark)

Really, you cannot wait two months for the update. I'll be upset if everyone else has it before us, went through that with the EVO 3D ICS update.

G3 runs out of the box as well as any phone out there including those running custom roms.... LG has done a bang up job on it. One reason that devs are lagging I suspect.... Good luck to you...
Sent from my LG-D851 using Tapatalk
Dont really think this post was needed but hey, its here...
The G3 has its drawbacks as any phone does honestly, a locked bootloader is just that. Either wait it out, dont buy it or move along. All this was known prior to buying the phone so its your call, not like its a surprise. The T-Mobile version, being unlocked doesnt have enough base support for Devs to be overly interested in it and will be slow going. Hopefully once a fully working AOSP build is available things, at least for the T-Mobile version should pick up some. If you want an out the box supported phone do research prior to buying it, Nexus, One Plus One, HTC, Motorola etc. Companies that either give you the tolls to unlock, or model lines that are unlocked across all carriers are the way to go now a days...shouldnt be surprising.

So now your wanting the Nexus 6? You said the Note 4 would blow the G3 away so I thought you were set on it. I had Galaxy phones and the Note 2 but got tired of the same design. I'm thinking on trying the Note 4 but still happy with my G3. Also thinking on the Z3 just because it's something different. Last 3 phones were LG G2, Flex and G3. Also thought about iPhone 6 but that probably won't happen.

i thought about the M8 but i couldnt get over two simple things that bugged me, first i didnt feel the screen size was sufficient because of the htc logo on the bottom took too much space and second was the camera, i have a toddler and i need to film everything.... maybe that rumored htc m8-eye..... or nexus x if its not 5.9' size.
so much to love about the G3 as well, if business picks up here in the following month i wont feel the pressure to jump one more time.
love the feel, the size of the screen is perfect, and the bezels alone just make this easily the best looking phone of the year.

As we wait..(something to pass time)

Does anyone else check the other carrier forums? All the other carriers are receiving their devices but I'm also reading the sudden issues with complaints about the screen quality, battery complaints, issues with the Samsung rebate not going through errors,WiFi issues, slow internet, spen dead spots, and a speaker phone crackle. And all of us are worried about the release date lol. Which of these sudden glitches and flaws would concern you the most?

I agree. We will have a heads up on what to look for. Im coming from a rooted s3 and still fairly happy with it but can't pass up the trade in deal. If its not the right phone ill return it and wait for something better. My note 10.1 2014 edition handles anything my s3 can't. Thanks tethering and unlimited data.

I may have made a mistake.....

Long story short, I got curious about the note 4 and traded in my M8 for it. It's only been 24 hrs and all I call say is that it's not a HTC. I'm really hoping that it grows on me.

I have had my Note 4 for about a week now, came from the M8. I truly love the M8, but I find the only thing I really miss is the front facing speakers. One of the main reasons I switched was for the Samsung VR. I have no regrets. I still have the M8, I want to see Lollipop on it before I sell it.
One thing I miss about the M8 is how it did it was fast. I don't know if if it's how touch wiz is designed to work, but it is kinda slow. Opening an app takes noticeably more time than the HTC. we'll see what happens, I can do another early upgrade in 4 or 5 months

We have a bigger development section.. You literally just gave the finger to all devs and left us to rot thinking you would have the win with the latest device... But you didn't!! Seriously, keep this phone. Its a beast and its actually much better than most of the phones being released today (excluding flagships ofc). Also never buy chinese phones, you WILL regret it. I would have kept my Note 2 for a total of 4 years if my screen didnt die.

The 1+2 is a pretty good device. Still not big enough for me (after being used to the Note 2's screen for 2 years its literally impossible to go to something smaller). That's why after my Note 2's screen broke I went with the Note 4. I was doing the same thing with my old device, flashing a new ROM every few days but after getting my Note 2 I stopped being a "flashaholic" and just stayed with the same ROM for months.
