LG G3 D856 5.0.1- GPS "Sending Geo-Data To Google" How To Disable? - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

LG G3 - question on GPS and full Android settings
Hi Guys!
I'm a new user of LG G3 dual LTE (D856) and so far I'm quite pleased with experience (coming from iphone 4s).
My phone is running 5.0.1 android and not rooted.
If someone has answers/solutions for following:
* On every GPS activation there is a popup coming about sending geo-data to Google. Tick "don't show anymore" is available only with option - "allow forever". "Not now" is available only for single use, i.e. next time GPS is on this popup coming annoyingly again.
I'm not a paranoiac, however why would I send to Google location of every toilet I visit?
How to get rid of popup with avoiding sending any geo-data to Google?
* is there internal android "settings" menu? There is LG settings and they are pretty good, but I can't find some properties seen on other android phones w/o shells?

Is it just because noone knows the answer or nobody have looked at question?

[Q] Device Manager - persistent notification? how disable?

I'm new to the HTC One section -- visiting to check on an issue for my son who just got his One a month ago. Apologies if this has already been discussed in another thread -- I searched and didn't see anything about this.
My son noticed that there's now a persistent notification (on the notification shade, of course) that indicates that Device Manager is running. I've never seen this on my other devices with Android Device Manager running -- not on my LG G2, Galaxy Nexus, Moto X's (wife and daughter), Nexus 7's or Nexus 10. Just on the HTC One, and just in the last day or so (probably right after a recent update).
The notification can't be swiped away, and I don't see any options in the app itself to turn notifications on/off. We'd really like to be able to turn this off if possible.
Any ideas / suggestions most appreciated.

I had this issue when I manually updated to the latest 4.3 OTA .. If thats what happened here then this worked for me:
Go to settings
Software Update
Check new
It should ask to install update, say "Install Now"
That should fail, because you are already on the latest OTA

Help w/Displaying Emergency Contact on Lock Screen and VPN Recommendation???

I need ideas on how I can display my wife's contact information on my LG E980 lock screen as well as my medical information. Her iPhone has a convenient feature permitting this information to be accessed without getting past the lock screen. Any ideas how we can meet this need on a stock LG e980? Someone must have figured out how to deal with this issue here.
#2 - I want to add VPN to my phone yet, see no clear winner in the Google Play Store. I use CM security and was tempted to install their VPN service but, it does not look to be rated well.

There is "Owner info" option, somewhere in the lockscreen or display settings. It should be there even in stock ROMs, if I remember correctly...
About second question, I would avoid anything by Cheetah Mobile, but it's your device Don't know any good VPNs, Orbot+Orfox are working half of my needs, and uni's VPN other part.

Transfer call blocking list

I just upgraded from a V20 to a G7 ThinQ. I would like to transfer the *extensive* list of numbers I have blocked in the LG Call settings to my new phone. LG support did not have any way to do this, but I was hoping someone here might have some kung fu that I could try.
I tried using the LG Mobile Switch app, but it won't transfer "Settings" to a phone with a different version of Android, and Settings>Calls transfer that is grayed out is where any call information would be. Any suggestions?

Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G - Camera giving an error when opening any app that uses it.

Hi!
This is my first ever post on XDA but i have been a user for several years now and i am quite acquainted with flashing ROMs and modding my phones.
I am currently using a GS7 Edge and I am about to buy a new phone in a few days, I found a S20 Ultra 5G for a very good price in perfect condition and fullbox but the thing is that it's mic is not working (which isn't a problem for me since i am always using my Galaxy Buds for phone calls) and the cameras give an error that says that the camera is not working. I found out on the internet that this is a common error after an update and is fixable by downgrading the software.
Does anyone have a link to a website from where i can download the original Firmware for the phone or a OneUI based rom that is at most OneUI 2.5?
Thank you in advance for any future help.
That is a security software restriction, as far as I know, there's an advanced option of disabling device sensors, called "sensors off".
It does exactly what the name suggests, it started with Android 10 (corresponding to One UI 2.0), and at it's early stages, it used to disable literally every sensor even when doing a phone call.
But then, an exception was made to allow necessary sensors on necessary conditions.
You can disable it and reboot to check, in case it was already disabled, enable it, and enable it from status bar quick settings tiles, then disable it.
Found in developer settings >> quick settings developer tiles.
That's the only thing I know.

Thank you for your answer, I am going to try that when i get the phone and get back to you, but also, do you think it's a good deal for the equivalent of 375USD in my country's currency?

To be honest, that is extremely great price, and it draws a lot of suspicious, did you check the phone and made sure that it is real S20 5G?
Perhaps the screen has been replaced? On XDA Swappa, prices are as low as 490$ and up to 670$
You'd be a very lucky guy if the phone is okay XD

Question The new Android 12

I have a few questions regarding the new update.
1. Does region matter?
I have a RETEU device, is there a reason why flashing the RETBR wouldnt work?
2. Is it worh it? Are the features (mostly design and privacy interest me) Android 12 promised there and functional?
3. How is the battery life on it?
I would love if you guys could help me out since i am very exited about the new features!
Also is there a Third Party Android 12 ROM, or GSI or something, any of you guys have used and recommend that is somewhat functional as a daily driver?
Thanks and much love!
No harm in waiting... 12 is a mess across all devices.
I bailed with Adroid 10 and don't regret spurning 11 and up one bit. CPU cycle sucking scoped storage became mandatory with 11; 12 is likely worse. I would research this first.

Hey,
short feedback from my experiences since upgrading to Android 12 in Germany.
1. Sorry, no idea.
2. Privacy features seam to work fine. Only problems I experienced are the following.
- You can now deny new / formerly hidden permissions. Denying them can brick apps. (example denying the "alarm / reminder" permission bricks the app "Notebook" until permission is granted again).
- All quick access setting have to be sorted again.
- new "deny all microphone access" in quick setting does what it should. For me it did it's job too literally. My interpretation "deny all apps except calling" but all MEANS all (yeah I know obvious... duh....).
3. Haven't performed any special comparisons but it feels same or maybe even a bit longer.

Hi,
to be honest, I have no idea what you mean. I guess I'm too much of a noob regarding Android internals. I mean no offense. Would you be so kind to briefly explain this? Thanks
--------
Some of my own experiences / questions.
Background:
I'm using my device with the work profile to keep annoying apps at bay.
Using "Shelter" app.
Using "Aurora Store" in work profile to install apps.
No factory reset was performed since upgrade.
Not rooted.
Problem:
Since the upgrade to Android 12 I'm experiencing an quite annoying bug. Using the "phone" app (private profile) I have no sound and microphone sometimes. So I can't hear and can't be heard. If I'm activating the work profile and use the "phone" app (again from private profile) I suddenly have sound and microphone.
Fix / workaround:
Another way to "fix" this problem is to reboot the phone. After reboot it works for an undefined time. I haven't tested if the problem starts after using work profile and deactivating it again. I'm testing it and I'll try to not forget to post an update for others.
FYI:
BTW if sound from other apps does work, wasn't tested until now. If you need to call you normally have no time for testing, so reboot it was for me.
Tested solutions:
Tested some general "solutions" from REDDIT & Co.
Editing settings in "Sound & vibration" -> "Audio effects": recommended "activate Dolby ATMOS". Phone doesn't have that so i resetted the setting (after tapping "Audio effects" tap "Settings" at the bottom then tap 3 dot menu and tap "Reset")
- DIDN'T WORK
Suggestion it's a carrier problem
Set network selection to manual and select your corresponding network.
- DIDN'T WORK
Deactivate or activate "Wi-Fi calling". (mine was activated so I deactivated it)
- DIDN'T WORK
Enable or disable "VoLTE". (mine was activated so I deactivated it)
- DIDN'T WORK
My questions:
Is anyone else experiencing this problem?
Has anyone found a solution?

Great formating and great feedback! Thanks so much!
The first point seems irrelevant anyways since the update is now for RETEU too.
I might try to upgrade tonight but i might wait a bit since i try and degoogle my phone as much as i can so i will probably soft brick it once or twice.
If I run into any of the issues you have i will come back with more feedback!
Regarding what BlackHawk said, from my understanding somehow the new scoped storage feature ( that allows apps to have access to only selected files and folders instead of device wide storage access) somehow messes with the CPU.
He most likely knows more but thats just my basic understanding and interpretation of what he said.
Thanks again and have a great day!
