Any Movement or Update on S-OFF to Root Verizon M9? - Verizon HTC One (M9)

I am sure it is a hugely difficult task, and maybe with little financial reward as a result of the small amount of people who have Verizon and and M9, but is there any movement or update on this? I remember seeing when I first got it that it would take some time but would eventually happen.

Still stands the same. You have to have java card\clip to s-off which then will allow root. Currently no software method\sunshine available, but as we all know, that could change tomorrow or never.

That's what I feared; I thought I remembered the developer of the software roamed these forums, so maybe he would see it and be slightly more motivated

You could always nonchalantly mention him like this @jcase if you wanted to be real sly about it... Lol

I'd either ignore it since its mentioned at least weekly already, or say something along the lines that we dont give ETAs nor comment on unreleased/in R&D projects

You might be better served to just go the route every one else has and ship/drive to a dev with access. I wouldnt hedge my bets on getting software exploit going anytime soon. But my sentiment will ring the same with everyone else.... This phone is infinitely better with root

This.
Well worth it. With the incredibly successful sales of the M9 (not), I wouldn't hold my breath for devs to continue to focus on the M9, especially as it becomes the "old" handset when HTC releases its next flagship.

Why my post get deleted? I was offering free s off all htc models all android versions ! What's wrong with that ????
Maybe someone thought o no ... I can't have a alternative s off for free I lose my 25 bucks lol . Why not give the people a option! !!!

I offer free local s off service that I say AGAIN is free . also doesn't void warranty and I can do all htc models and android version

Neo has consolidated all users doing the same exact service in the Java card/clip thread.
That's why. You are on the thread there now. Perhaps you are in denial that there are many users already doing this and more in that thread? Even boot loader unlocks without warranty voiding?
So yes please...stop duplicating posts everywhere.

Honestly no one wants to hear it from some jackass that TALKED SOOOOOOO MUCH **** ABOUT SOFTWARE ROOT ANYWAY. Follow the rules and search before posting useless information that has been already posted! No one cares that you just found this out and you really don't need to open a thread every time you find something new out. This isn't Twitter. This is why the Dinc2 community is CRAP. No one even wants to Dev for us because some of us are ungrateful jerks. People don't forget, and if I recall correctly let me show you how grateful you are.

I may not be getting OTA in my location. So I went fishing and came across this.
http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/0...8-605-4-same-as-the-official-gingerbread-ota/
They claim it is the same as the OTA but since it can be RUU'ed will work on all phones, incl. those with modification to the ROM.
Has anybody tried this one? Also, since I have never gone the RUU route some additional instructions will be most welcome.

If you are not s off, just flash it. If it has been tampered with than the update should fail. It isn't todays ota though, it is the one from a few weeks ago.

Thanks @kingsway8605. This is the only one I could find. About two weeks old. Any other URL's?
Presumably the flashing involved copying the file (with changed name) to SD card root. Remove the USB cable and then do <volume down> + <power>. I hope the follow up is pretty simple and straight forward. I do not have much Android experience.

HTC-One X Kernel Source!!

The One X is out for couple of weeks, BUT they still haven't published the Kernel source!!
With my HTC desire 2 years ago, We had exactly the same problem. They didn't published the kernel source.
We did spam them with emails about the kernel source, and within 1 week they did publish the source files on htc dev.
I was thinking to do the same thing to speed up the releasing process.
What do you guys think?

thats just good logic on HTC half, if they let it out the Devs will beat HTC to fixing stuff and that will look bad on them.
i believe they still have around 50 days left.
Please change the title, it's VERY misleading.
But yeah, putting pressure on them could help speed up the process. Have HTC said anything about when the source will be released or have they not said anything about it yet?
I can see the point but they will release it eventually, they are required by law to do so. I'm not up for putting pressure on them to do anything right now, I'm gonna give them space to iron out bugs before I get involved in trying to force them to get distracted by anything else.
They have 90 days after realising the device so plenty of time for them.

Well, if you think it won't take up the time of the lead devs, bureaucrats and technical decision makers if a group of people is pressuring them to release the kernel and that these aren't the same people who are working on bug fix releases. I run a company which, among other things, does linux server development and web development/server side scripting and I can tell you for sure that while the act of making it available, in itself, is not a big task is really isn't as simple as you make it sound. My operation is small fry compared to HTC, this just adds to the bureaucracy. Also, the infrastructure and resources are a consideration too. Just my outlook of course.

What is there to consider? All this decision making is taking place before the binaries are pushed to the customer. After that, there is no way not to publish the source code. There is nothing to be done other than package the whole tree (possibly excluding binary bits) and publish it.
By delaying it, they are in direct violation of the GPL. Every bit that is downloadable or obtainable from HTC at any moment in binary should also be immediately available in source.

The GPL has many loopholes, and HTC could easily use them, Not that they will.
but no they are not in direct violation....not for another 2 month's in fact.

How much does it take?

So I have stumbled upon a problem with rooting/unlocking the boot loader for the Verizon variant of the mot z play. I've seen posts and other tutorials asking for a solution. But I see a similar reply to those questions: that it isn't going to happen due to the lack of dev support. So I am creating this thread to ask the developers what we (the ones who want root for moto z play Verizon) can do to get their full attention on, not just the moto z play, but all Verizon variants. So Devs What do you want? and Owners, What can you give?

Maybe but one can try to find one. And with luck catch it.
From what I understand, Verizon bootloaders are not unlockable. They have only seen to gotten more strict with this over time. I would recommend getting a non-verizon or att variant of every phone in the future.
"Not Unlock-able" is not in the vocabulary of the hacking world. I know someone some where can crack the boot-loader its only a matter of time and effort. Anything can be cracked.

In a theoretical sense that's likely true. But it may require more time, money and resources than are available to the Devs on XDA. I think the point is, if you buy a locked Verizon or AT&T device, don't count on an unlock ever being available, especially if you aren't paying the salary of the guy working on it.

I just bypass FRP 7.1.2 with lock Bootloader! Please read!

Well Hello there everyone.
My friend bought a Pixel off the streets (A.K.A Offerup App) He saw the post and called me about the post he saw and wanted to by it. I mention him about FRP, which he said he will check . He didnt relized that it just bypass with sideloader. We try to contact the sell but nothing. So head he gave it to play around with it and took me a 1 day 1/2 and BANG! I removed it with lock bootloader! 7.1.2 (NJH47D, Jul 2017)!:silly::laugh:
Now i have the info& IDK what to do with it. If you have any questions ask. Very open to help out but I don't want to get ban or anything in the area.
P.S I have proof of it been lock and so on. ( I did not took a pic of the bootloader info but it was in 'slot_b' idk whats this but yeah) I believe this will work with verizon and OEM goolge pixel&XL
Edit: My brother has a Nexus 6P with 7.1.2 lock bootloader. I explain him that it can be done and he did not believe me. We bet some beers to show it can be done! Same concept different phone. I was multi-tasking and phone too longer than usual to get things in the right place. Check laptop date & Time.
Update: Check out Rootjunky and Phonelab Youtube& Twitter. The information was shared with them.
how did you do it?
Not sure if I am allow to post the information.
Why would you get banned? A lot of people are waiting for something like this; myself included. If you say you're able to do it, explain it clearly and with as much information as possible.

I believe that XDA rules don't permit that but since the thread hasn't been locked then perhaps I'm wrong. If it's free then post it. Thread will be cleaned if it violates rules.
But if he charges for it then he might as well just ban himself. No need to wait.

So you're telling me I can't get any donations for the solution?:crying::crying: I mean for my time? Beer? Steak?
I'm pretty sure XDA considers instructions to bypass FRP to be aiding phone thieves and people who buy stolen phones, which would not be in the best interests of the majority of the people in the XDA community. There are plenty of Internet pages and at least one apk that claim to help people bypass FRP. The fact that you don't see that stuff on XDA should probably tell you something.

No that is against forum rules. You may have a donate button in your avatar and a button link in your signature. People can donate to you if they want, but it is against forum rules to ask for donations up front for providing a service.

only thing you can do is (if you want money), start a blog and sell the service.. That's outside of XDA..
Dude won't share? Lame, wonder how much free info he's got off XDA over the years...

This doesn't make sense combined with your OP. You said you were messing around with a friend's phone and bam you got it and now don't know what to do with the info. A mod said put a donate link up but now you say it's not for free since you paid to learn the method? Were you messing around or did someone teach it to you? Either way you're not going to get paid for it here unless you put up a donate link and the method is verified by other users.

The pictures show absolutely nothing useful. This guy is completely full of it. Mods close this thread. It's nothing but clickbait.
Also, the pictures in op are actually for a Nexus 6P not Pixel XL. Mods should at least edit and move this thread to the appropriate place if closing the thread is not feasible.

Snapdragon root ever possible?

So I got a great deal from sprint about half off a S20u And I jumped thinking I'd be able to root it. it's already been 30 days and I'm going to return the device since I thought it would be able to be rooted. will a root ever be available. What device can I purchase from a US carrier that is able to be rooted and remove the bloat.

Don't hold your breath waiting for Samsung to offer an unlocked bootloader on any US variants. There are no US Carrier Branded or US Unbranded devices which can be unlocked. If you want no bloatware then the US Unbranded device is an option but if you need root you'll have to consider a Snapdragon International or Exynos Global variant. On these devices Carrier Aggregation and Warranty Repair would be challenging at best.
Dose one plus make devices that ship with unlockable bootloader?

Will the bootloader be unlocked in the future, is that a possibility, haven't been on the forums in 7-8 years. This phone is incredible, but the bloatware makes it useless kills battery can't disable apps. Someone help im over 30 days and don't know if I wanna return. I'm paying $15USD/MONTH FOR 18 MONTHS with buyout for $250USD so it's quite an offer to refuse. But I need root access and a custom rom on THIS baby!

The only one who can answer this is a well placed Samsung Executive, certainly not a CSR. No one has a crystal ball in this regard but I doubt it's going to happen anytime soon. Bloatware is the downside when you acquire a Carrier Branded Device and the $$$ you saved lose their value in the long run. Nowadays most carriers offer decent pricing on month to month prepaid without a long term commitment. Better off IMHO to wait a few months for price drops and feedback before purchasing any device. Saving a couple hundred on a smartphone you really weren't suited for doesn't add up.

So, your entire post was to show YOU have root, but not to provide any information at all on how you did it...when OP (and others, myself included) would like to know how it's done?
....thanks for nothing...

point is to show its absolutely possible. And I cannot post something that A, isnt my method to post and B, its not allowed to be posted on xda. So take it how you want doesnt matter to me.

Wow. Disrespecting elliwigy is not good. That guy has provided things for the public in the past and thats how you do him? Its because of people like you that xda gets tainted. Hell I wouldn't release it.

Who are you, his girlfriend? Go away.
To me it just seemed like a post bragging about him having root when others can't get it and obviously wanna know to do so. But if he can't or won't share how he achieved it, then whatever...it is what it is. But nowhere did I see him say he needed you to defend him, especially AFTER he already responded.
I'm done with the topic now though... moving on...

just because someone achieves something and let ppl know it is possible but cant provide details for understandable reasons such rules is not in any way bragging about anything.
I dont make the rules on here, in fact I support the rules and enforce them even considering I am a moderator.
Just because someone doesn't want to tell you details (because its simply not allowed) doesn't give you the right to judge people and post negatively about them in public. If you have any issues with me or anyone else I suggest you send them a PM next time.
Showing people that it is possible gives hope to those who feel it is imppssible and hopefully encourages them to keep at it.
I have no reason to lie to anyone and as you can tell uf you did any research on my past activities/posts you should see that every time I achieved root I posted freely to XDA so everyone could take advantage of it. So hopefully you understand if I could post publicly I would have already done so.
I did try to help people out and had them PM me and was advised not to do so even via PM because it is a paid service of which selling these types of services are not allowed on XDA. It is a paid service because the means to unlock the bootloader requires a purchase from a third party. There is no way to provide a "free" method as well as said service is device specific so there is no universal method and each unlock is tied to one device.
Think of it similar to those websites that offer sim unlocks. They are paid services tailored to one specific device. Paid services are not allowed on XDA since typically people use these methods to profit and in the past there have been a number of shady schemes hence why rules were formulated.
I hope this clears things up and you refrain from name calling and negatice remarks to people such as your last comment I quoted.

Instead of complaining take the initiative and hit someone up on telegram that you know has done this and im sure they would be glad to guide you too the proper place. Like elliwigy said it’s against xda rules to post such stuff here so why complain about it here. There are threads in s10 and s20 threads with people posting stuff for US unlocked bootloader phones. Hit those people up on telegram or outside of xda because people want too abide by the rules of xda and xda does not want this stuff posted on their forums.
