HTC Desire S-Off any way to work? - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is it possible now to s-off this phone,(HTC DESIRE) or I can put it in garbage. I try every guide on xda, revolutionary has gone, alpha too, unrevoked did`n`t work, adb fastbot can`t help, cause S-On don`t allow to write anything in phone.I try htcdev.com but it can`t read token, just INFO ERR.
I have all drivers,adb,fastboot,htc...When conect my phone and PC,no err,all is ok.In Bootloader is usb plug too.
I instaled RUU 2.3 and after that is s-On pvt4 ship S-ON
So,can anybody help,other way,idea....anything?
Thanks!

"Your device must be HTCDEV unlocked or rooted unless using rumrunner with a device blocked by htcdev (e.g. m7wlv)"

The most we've done is when fastboot, after diagnostic tests he says "cleaning S58", and later restart the phone ...
I read that phone reset when it detects no SIM card, so install the CDMA firmware, but does not work ...
I ordered samples to st for the microprocessor of XTC-CLIP (to build them). But I would like to find a software solution ...

I removed all the pre-installed software by flashing a cut down custom ROM. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1842771.
In order to do this all I needed to do was unlock and root the device. which I did via: http://www.htcdev.com/, click on the unlock bootloader link and follow the instructions, I don't remember all the details and I've only done it once, but I don't recall it being difficult. This unlocks the bootloader so you can install custom ROMs but doesn't S-OFF the phone, but it would seem that the phone doesn't have to be S-OFF to install custom ROMs.
However I am now looking to S-OFF the phone (so that I can allocate unused space in system.img to data.img), I've followed many many tutorials and guides and nothing works, reading this thread, it would seem that it's not possible for HTC Wildfire S - HBOOT 1.08.0099 or 1.09.0099 (mine is the former). Am I correct in this assumption?
I have read about Revone on other threads would this work with my phone? Has anyone tried it?
Cheers

[Q] Can I root my Wildfire S?

Hello, I've read so many different threads about rooting/unlocking the Wildfire S that I am kind of confused if I can root mine or no.
The HBOOT screen reads:
MARVEL PVT SHIP S-O RL
HBOOT-0.90.0000 (I have read that many people have problems rooting with this version?)
MICROP-0451

Also have I read that people with my version have to "skip the RUU step and move to the 2nd step", what is the 2nd step? Where should I start from? I have really read a lot of threads but I'm kind of new to this and I dont want to mess my device up. Thanks everyone.
as i know u must have hboot-1.08.0099 to go trough the htcdev.com method. what is your android ver?

That also updates my HBOOT? As much as I have read I have seen that updating the Android verison didn't help with the errors.
And I still would like to know what people mean when they talk about "skipping the 1st step (RUU) and move straight to 2nd" with my version?
If u update your android with RUU it can update anything ^^, i flashed my WFS to HTC EU 2.3.5 (as stock i got 0.90.0000 too, after flashing 1.08.0000), there's an tutorial how to do it with RUU.
About skipping, its to get rom_1 and rom_2 from Bootloader unlock Rom, to use it manualy, but i think its a bit dangerous to skip a some versions like from 0.90.0000 to just 1.08.0099. Also what brand your phone is? Orange. T-mobile. ?
I had 2.3.5 android on HBOOT 0.90.0000 (yea, HBOOT ver. didn't changed after new RUU,strange)
Just aplied the RUU from HTCdev.com (HTC EU 2.13.401.2), unlocked it through HTCdev manual, and then rooted using this TUT http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1432074

Updating from 2.3.3 to 2.3.5 will not update your HBOOT. That's what the process at HTC dev is for. Try that and if that doesn't work, use the link I posted above.

Very useful information. This answers the OP's two questions:
1. Does the 2.3.5 RUU update HBOOT? NO.
2. Can some phones with HBOOT 0.90.0000 be unlocked and rooted? Yes.
Until the OP tries to unlock his phone, I don't know what else we can do to help him.
Well my bad
You just need actuall Android version to match the BT UNLOCK RUU.
I installed the 2.3.5 update and tried running the unlocker from HTCdev, i choosed the right version 2.13.401.2 and it says ERROR 190 Rom is not up to date, when i just updated it?
And when i try that trick from SD card, it says Main Version is older, update fail!
HBOOT still shows as 0.90
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1445497 here, we are fighting it together. just Check if version is OK

I already tried that but the thing is i canot find a rom to unlock my bootloder. My build verion is 2.24.161.2 CL298713 release _key. I also tried finding the rom elsewhere but found unsuccessfully, so i am not sure if there is any available for my version.

dnot bother unlocking your hboot. its still hackable in its current state. when you look at the thread linked here follow all instructions until step1.bat has finished.
It will then autorun goldcardtool.exe and it will get your cid from your micro sdcard in the phone. after that it links to a website that no longer runs. instead go here and enter your cid. download the goldcard and then add it to the goldcard helper by selecting load goldcard and selecting your downloaded goldcard.img . then hit patch mmc.
Lastly run step2.bat and you should start the downgrade process once successful you can the run revolutionary and gain s-off.
I did attempted that method but it said the gold card cannot be read. I am not sure but it might not be a valid gold card generator as the main website is currently down and when I used the one suggested by you already. It say it unable to pass the cid check.

Looking for firmware zip to flash for CM12

Hello all,
I've been looking for the firmware zip and I couldn't find anything I could use in order to be able to flash CM12. The few files I could find were ones that kept returning "signature verify fail." I'm on the HTC One M8 Developer Edition.
Help is appreciated.

If you don't know what it is, then you're right that its most likely s-on. You can check by booting into bootloader, and it will either say s-on or s-off near the top of the screen.
That being the case (s-on), I think you best bet is to run the 3.28 US Dev Edition RUU, which I've seen posted on the AT&T forum section. I'll try to find it, once I have a chance.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-htc-one-m8
Backup your personal data before RUU, as your phone will be wiped. Also need to relock bootloader to RUU with s-on.

So you're saying I have to flash the stock recovery and lock the bootloader? Because right now I have Clockwork recovery and CM11 on the device. RUU.exe faied to update. Is there a signed ZIP for HBOOT anywhere by any chance? Or could I just change it to S-OFF somehow? Please advise.

You don't need to flash stock recovery to RUU. But you do need to relock the bootloader since you are s-on. If your bootloader is unlocked, this why the RUU is failing.

So should I be using SunShine to unlock this? I found something called FireWater but that shows up as discontinued.

I never said to s-off. I said, since you are s-on, do this: relock the bootloader and run the RUU.
Confirm on the bootloader screen whether it says UNLOCKED or RELOCKED.
You don't need s-off to run an RUU for the Dev Edition, if you have the Dev Edition. And as long as the RUU version is not "older" than what is on the phone ("downgrading" not allowed with s-on). As long as you follow the rules (right CID and right version), s-on is fine to run RUU.
s-off certainly opens up more options, but not strictly necessary in your case. Yes, firewater was discontiued, and sunshine is your only option to s-off.

You didn't, you're right. I was thinking of another thing.
Well, I figured it out finally. Toolkit got things relocked and I had to get the unlock token (developer's edition comes unlocked) to restore CM11 with all the apps and use their updater from there.
Thank you so much for the help! I now have wonderful Lollipop running on my phone. Feels great
